The set looks goofy but both gauntlets and legging are really nice. It's a shame there is 100% chance of me forgetting to pick this up before killing Maliketh on every character I make

It'd been extremely better if the "shoulder holding position" weapons didn't clip through the brim.

The chest piece looks goofy on anything that isn’t just the full lionel set but at least it’s much drippier than the bullgoat set.

And here we have, an armor set, which pieces are unfortunately used in the least fashionable ways possible. In a full set, the armor looks fairly nice, but what these maidenless, unfit even for grafting Tarnished have combined with the helmet, leggings, and gauntlets, is often, dare I say, one of the greatest sins against the Erdtree there is! A fashion crime. Used in combination with the Veteran's Set Chest Armor, people use it to min-max at the great cost of their fashion. Held in the grasp of meta, those who taint their fashion often never return to the graces of Fashion-Souls.

I don't like this set as a whole, BUT I found out that this looks reallly cool if you swap the helm for the Haima Glintstone Crown(from the battlemage set), I love this look for my tanky battlemage build. The helm of Lionel's set on the other hand looks badass if combined with the Banished Knight Armor(unaltered!!) and Scaled Greaves.

poor guy probably willingly gave his life to fia once he found out what kind of people in pvp use his helmet

Gaining traction as the "best" armor set. Lighter than Bullgoat with sufficient poise, and actually higher Slash and Pierce defense. Pierce is common in PvP: halberds, katana running attacks, Impaling Thrust, Piercing Fang, and of course, spears. Slash is also fairly common, katana R1s (the co-op player's favorite!), most other katana attacks, curved swords, and claws (like the dreaded Raptor Talons). I also find it more fashionable, both as a full set and for mixing (though the chest somewhat demands use of the full kit to not look silly).

"Hmm..."
"Hmmmmmmm..."
"OH!"
"Forgive me. I was absorbed in thought."
Unless you're completely naked and using bare fists, someone somewhere will complain that the armor/weapon/spell you're using is 'sweaty'. Please get over yourself and realize that you are also a sweat that is mad they lost. Getting upset for someone using *gasp* efficient armor in a game mode where the objective is to beat your opponent is just beyond the pale to some of you for some reason. Now I get it, are some weapon setups like dual spears incredibly cheesy and should probably be tuned down a bit, or maybe even a lot? Sure, but the armor is not the problem here, it's the broken weapon mechanics and phantom hits (Vyke's War Spear I'm looking at you) that cause almost all of the issues. I just want to cosplay as Onion bro sometimes, and the fact that some people get so upset about wearing armor is just confusing to me. Can't wear Bull-Goat, can't wear Fire Prelate, can't wear Lionel's, can't wear Radahn's. Where does the slippery slope end? Are we just going to cancel every armor until we're naked?

The absolute stench of sweat from this set... you can really smell the marinated dual naginatas...

My favorite set, it looks perfect with my giant rusty anchor and tortoise shell.

Can we take a moment to appreciate Lionel? The man found a young woman with nowhere to go, and became a father to her. Then even when he died his soul lingered just so he could continue to protect her. Now thats what I call a good dad.

why is the set of choice for halberd/lance tryhards? is it an optimization thing?

How much endurance do you need to medium roll with this while having like 10 pounds of other weight?

Would love if there was an option to remove the brim from the helmet, I really wanted to use this to make a Catarina Knight character with a buckler and zweihander but alas, weapons that rest on the shoulder clip through the helm

big boy poise and big pierce damage resistance. surprised this doesn't see more use in pvp

This armor set would look 10 times better without the fat belly part... unless you use the albanoric mask with it then it is 100 percent perfect.

Why is Lionel's body in that bed in Leyndell, anyway? Did Fia hug him to death?

If fia was adopted by lionel does that make her 1/2 step-onion?

If you equip Bull Goats talisman youll get 105 poise, wich is 5 more poise than the actual Bullgoat set. Making this a more beautiful and lighter option :)

Helmet and cape of armor the saving parts of this set in my opinion.

If you put a lantern it stays under the belly thus making it invisible

The best "super heavy" armor imo, almost like dapper onion knight armor.

Yknow, lionel, being an adoptive father doesn't necessitates you having a dad bod

This is tied with the Radahn set for highest robustness (excluding the helmet) if you want to stomp white mask nerds in PvP.

I had this set, then it disappeared from my inventory. I noticed it had happened after I got the dung eater’s set. Has this happened to anyone else? Playing on PS4, version 1.05

i turned leyndell to ash but didnt realize it would lock me out of getting this armor

This, with the Albinauric helm, giant-crusher, highland axe and my troll screaming guppy is gloriously alive. Just need a good name for him. Just have Gup-Gup for now.

if only this set was the actual meta armor set, bull goat is just ugly.

Helm and gauntlets go well with the Night Calvary chestpiece and leggings.

Awesome helm - rocking it and gauntlets with radahn’s armor and pants.

Real life armor was thin-waisted to help mobility and flexibility. If you wanted to upscale it for someone inhumanly big and strong, you'd make the plates thicker while keeping the overall slim shape. Just looking at this you can tell that anyone wearing it would have trouble touching their toes, or even standing up.
It's a good meme, though.

Unironically the coolest ''bigger'' armour from has made yet, the whole set just works without looking ridiculous
FromSoft always have to have that one Onion character in every game... and he's always great

this is a really ugly armor set, and not in an endearing way, just in an entirely forgettable, not particularly interesting way.

This is obviously the best looking armor in Elden Ring, but there are many reasons to use it besides fashion. 78 is the magic number for reaching the poise cap with the Bull Goat Talisman. Lionel's set has 79 poise. Some would say that the veteran's set has the same poise while being much lighter. To those people I would like to point out that Lionel's set has the highest robustness in the game. Robustness is your resistance to bleed build up. Bleed weapons dominate the PvP meta right now. Who knows when they will be nerfed, and just how hard? While that remains to be seen, Lionel's set is good looking, and offers good poise and stalwart protection.

Everybody talking about the armor but not wtf happened where you found it. So, you find his set on the dead body and Fia's dress on the same bed? Hm, my guy got some daddy kinks

Get this sooner rather than later, it's missable after Maliketh. Learned the hard way.
