ELDEN RING AGHEEL'S FLAME NOTES AND TIPS

  • Updated to Patch 1.10. See Patch Notes for details.
  • In the Colosseum, if the opponent is spacing the dragon breath out of its range or putting pressure by interrupting your dragon breath, use Swarm of Flies. Most opponents will run away from the attack, causing them to lose stamina and give you space to do a dragon breath.
  • To prevent the opponent from constantly interrupting your dragon breath, use Endure. With all dragon breaths having a 2.5-second wind-up and Endure having a 3-second duration it will give you enough time to do a dragon breath in the air. However, you will not have enough time to swap into a Dragon Communion Seal on both hands if you want the full wind-up duration to be protected by Endure.

This spell really makes you FEEL like a dragon because it's the only dragon spell that has the death animation of players be the fire death one, meaning they scream in agony and flail around before death.

I have half a dozen copes as to why I use this one over rot or magic but the truth is, fire color matches the drake knight set and agheel's head uses the same model as greyoll's roar and dragonmaw.

Between Agheel's flame and Smarag's glintstone, I choose Agheel's for colosseum combat because of how common barrier of gold/magic fortification is.

          • Agheel's Flame build (99 faith, 99 Arcane):
            - Weapon: Dragon Seal +10
            - Armor: none
            - Talisman: Faithful Canvas (+4% incan. dmg), Flock Canvas (+8% incan. dmg), Fire Scorpion charm (+12% fire dmg), Godfrey Icon (+15% incan. dmg)
            - Physic flask: fire buff (+20% for 3 min)
            - Buffs: Golden Vow (+10% for 70sec), Flame grant me strength (+20% for 30 sec)

            Damage Output (on Journey 9)
            - damage unknown against regular enemies (they dont survive far enough to calculate)
            - 8620 dmg against limegrave trolls
            - 6120 dmg against first elden lord (with 3 participants at ng9)
Conclusion: Awesome to deal pure damage in close/medium range and great to avoid floor swipes, but very long casting time, high FP cost and
susceptible to interruptions with mobility penality when casting.

            • You only need 78+ FP remaining to full cast it. If you don't have 6 FP for more FP usage past that the game just doesn't use up more. If you are at 82 FP for example you will be left with 4 FP even though you used the full cast. Same with 80 FP left with 2 FP. Maxed out +12 FP flask gives you 220 FP just short of 222 to be able to cast it fully twice but It will leave you at 4 FP, 2 FP and 0 FP after every 2 full casts and using flask (Works with odd numbers too).

Every time you hit 0 or 1 FP, second of the next two casts won't be a full cast but will leave you at 4-5 FP which allows you to do the double full cast 3 more times for 6 full casts until you get the short cast again. Cerulean seed talisman will give you 264 FP allowing you to cast twice every time but you will use much more FP for the second cast every time. You can of course use other spells as long as you don't go lower than 78 FP but I'm just assuming you only cast this to make it easier. Needless to say for all of these you need at least 38 mind (40 mind with radahn's rune or 45 mind for cerulean seed talisman) which is a lot.

I'll just edit some basic information like the minimum cost in all the named breaths now. Nothing confusing like this one.

I love this incantation, if you learn to use it right you can destroy anything and anyone, i be free aiming this in pvp and such, easily catches people

                • Anonymous

the longer range is kinda negated by people strafing the narrower spread. regular dragonfire is also meh. crucible breath is where it's at.

                  • Anonymous

Something to keep in mind: the generic breath attacks have way more reach than the named versions, can be used on horse (which is great) and the breath seems like it bounces when it reaches a wall, so its still great on enclosed spaces.

Named breath attack have more damage, can be casted while jumping and are better for reaching enemies below you

so somthing weird happened for me, i saw yura at seaside and he said dont go fight the dragon so i DIDNT, i progressed and saw him at murkwater cave or whateva where he helped me fight the invader
now hes back at seaside and saying that ive beaten the dragon and yay good for me... i am 100% sure i didnt fight it but im able to get the dragon incantation from caeild dragon communion..... like i said i am 100% sure i didnt fight it.
the only explanation i have for this is that MAYBE (very unlikely) my brother got on my playstation when i wasnt home and did it?
im stumped, i have no idea what happened. maybe i cheesed the game or someshit.
if anyone can explain this id be grateful

I unlocked it only in NG+ despite beating him in my first party ? Is it normal ?
--> Otherwise it should be mentionned that the Cathedral in caelid should be fund first !

If you jump and charge cast with the talisman in your left hand you may only be able to fire it once, but if you switch it to your right hand and jump charge cast you'll fire it as much as you can. Firing from the ground doesn't change depending on which hand you use

                              • Anonymous

Idk what the exact reason is, but currently if I jump first and cast this with the talisman in my left hand it will only go off once while holding it. Switching that talisman to my right hand however, will allow me to jump and charge cast this until it fully drains my fp. This only happens if you jump before casting. Hopefully they fix this soon

If you are using a seal in your offhand you can only shoot once IN THE AIR. The seal has to be in your main to shoot 2 times IN THE AIR. If your seal is in your offhand and you use the spell IN THE AIR the attack it will do less damage damage (possible scaling bug?). IF YOU ARE USING THE GROUNDED VERSION BOTH OFFHAND AND MAINHAND ARE THE EXACT SAME. There is so much misinformation in this thread, it takes like 10 seconds to test this.

Is this better than Dragonfire for blasting down from ledges? There are some vantage points that seem like fun places for Dragonfire, but it can't aim that far down.

I have no idea what anyone is talking about with left/right/two/main/off handing, I can cast the breath spells completely irrespective of what talisman or what hand it's in provided I have enough FP (and am actually holding the button down)

                                      • Anonymous

A friend and I did some testing on the Fire, Magic, Rot and Frost Breath Spells, and it turns out that the amount of times you can shoot while in the air is determined by which hand your Seal is in.
Left Hand Seal = 1 Air Shot
Right Hand Seal = 2 Air Shots

Interestingly, you can still do 2 shots using the Seal in your left hand, as long as you're holding a Seal in your right hand at the same time.

The fact that the amount of shots depends on the hand the Seal is being held in explains why everyone has conflicting information on how these spells work.
Hopefully this is a bug, not a feature, and Fromsoft will eventually patch it so that we don't have to swap between the Seal and the mainhand weapon all the time to get the 2nd Air Shot.

So I tested and apparently all spells like this can be cast only one time in air with normal talismans, but u can cast it two times in air eith dragon communion talisman, or use a normal talisman in a hand to cast and dragon in the offhand, what triggers the second phase in air is the talisman

                                          • You can only shoot one time in the air as opposed to twice on the ground. Lowers the damage potential a lot considering most of the damage comes from the second activation. Also it's lame you can only stay in the air for a second...

                                            • Anonymous

Kinda trade off compared to a normal Dragonfire, not an upgrade, it does a bit more damage, can be casted in the air (not sure how useful this is), but has shorted range and somewhat inconsistent attack zone - first blast goes around same distance as Dragonfire, but second blast for extended duration goes about 3/5 of range, instead of simple close to ground horizontal cone - now cone also move vertically from top to bottom, missing a lot of enemies within reach

                                              • Anonymous

This, like all dragon specific and advanced dragon incantations are only available from the other dragon cathedral in the scarlet rot zone, not the island near the starting area.

                                                • Anonymous

Is this better then dragonfire? Ive tested it a bit and this seems to do ever so slightly more damage per hit. But dragonfire can hit multiple times in 1 cast. Unless im just useing agheel's flame wrong

                                                  • Anonymous

To anyone asking about this spell not appearing at the church of communion: It only appears at the CATHEDRAL of communion.

                                                    • Anonymous

I defeated Agheel and went to the dragon communion and theres no extra spell there just the standard 3? theres no Agheels flame... anyone know why this is happening and how to fix?
