Elden Ring Ancestral Follower Ashes Guide

  • Consumes Medium FP (63)
  • This ash has a hidden ability to heal about 1/5 of his total health when an enemy is killed, which makes him an invaluable asset while fighting groups. This is a percentage heal, as it will be the same amount of a health bar at higher levels.
  • Attacks with its bow at long-range, firing an arrow capable of stunning most enemies. Also tends to keep its distance if possible. Can attack with its axe if anything gets too close.
  • Low HP

Definitely one of the better generic summons, his versatility is his strong point: at his best staggering enemies with his bow but capable of unga bunga too. Well worth rushing to Siofra to get early on, particularly if you don't have enough FP for Engvall.

Dude was an absolute beast for me in Rennala’s 2nd phase on my first playthrough. Constantly interrupted her attacks

Better than you think, but it still annoys me that spirit arrows are only broken bs when used against you.

is there any tips towards making sure this guy stays planted in one spot? no matter how far away i summon him from the tree spirit boss i was testing him out on, he constantly sought to close distance and died almost instantly due to trying to take aggro away from me each and every time with his axe, which is exactly what i do not want. i really don't want to just keep using latenna as a ranged summon and i want to try new ashes, but this is really not cutting it for me.

Interesting upside is the range of this summons bow seems unlimited, for example it can shoot from the fog wall to the other side of the Regal Ancestor Spirits arena, which can be pretty useful as it'll stay far back and shoot which gives you space to fight the boss without it switching aggro mid attack. Or if the boss decides to go chase them you get a ton of breathing room.

Certainly helped me a ton until I got some more punchy ones like Mimic, its fairly tanky so a nice support one that sticks around and deals consistent damage and buys you time, the arrows seem to stagger pretty well also but don't quote me on that last point.

Normally ranged attack from spirit ashes in colosseum combats won't stagger players, since they deal almost 0 poise damage. However, headshot stagger bypasses the poise system and can apply stagger to the player without poise breaking. Everyone experienced the headshots from Siofra River snipers will surely understand why this boi is super funny to use in brawl...

                • I beat Morgott on my level 7 Prophet with base weapons (bragging like muck am I right? I'm just full of adrenaline so please indulge me haha. I'm still by no means truly good at this game) all thanks to this lad and with help from Melina, as well. The boss was switching between the spirit and Melina, rarely did I aggro him with my Black Knife's Blade of Death skill, and when he did all I'd do was spam the O or B button hoping he wouldn't catch me in my roll (Crucible Feather Talisman FTW). This guy does not disappoint one bit

Can't pass up on my boy, Big Daz and his massive big bow. Pop in, pop out bosses as easy to smash as a sausage roll. Also, hes absolutely mental, heals when hes done pounding on the average chump.

I'm pretty sure the health regen on kill this guy has is also applied to the hostile versions in siofra, you just don't see it often unless you die to one

Draws aggro very well, bosses really dislike getting sniped. Not a lot of HP (or damage for that matter), but worked wonders on Radagon when all that was needed was a summon to keep the guy off my face for a second.

Am I missing something I beat the game 2x and I beat the giant reindeer thing 2x and I still haven't unlocked this summons

                          • Anonymous

Redmane Knight Ogha little bro basically. Arrows hit like missiles, can take hits, will turn to melee if need be. For melee builds he is superb support.

You know, it would be wonderful if someone actually listed stats and what each upgrade tier does either here or on the Spirit Ashes page. Actual numbers would greatly help in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each summon rather than relying on differing community opinion and allegorical evidence.

+3 and above, this helps a ton with Rennala phase 1 with wild swings, and phase 2 thanks to range support.

If you want a low FP cost general purpose Tank/Ranged DPS support, look no further. He can't really stand in there against any of the main bosses, but if you can hold the agro, he is pretty good. The Page might be slightly better, but its more FP. 63FP probably makes him the 2nd best "Bargain". Nothing beats the Greatshield Soldiers, but they are more specialized and don't really do great at range. +10 Soldiers take out the Deathblight field boss and his two adds in Farum Azula with no help. Tiche, DungEater, nor Oleg can do that.

After walking Siofra River with dozens of large green arrows sticking out of my body I can't wait to use them against others...

Summoned him for Astel. He kept his distance and 90% of his shots hit the boss in the head, so he's definately aiming there. His RoF is low enough that you can keep aggro off, and strong enough that each shot makes a difference. And he hits every shot.

It's a niche use, but I've found him to be easier to use than latenna for ranged cheesing in some cases. His arrows are too fast for enemies to dodge and he can reposition. I had just summoned him to test him out while I was sneaking in to fort Gael, so he followed me up to the ramparts. I was looking around to see what I could find up there, when I turned around the Lion Guardian in the courtyard was hilariously full of arrows.

Seems to recover some HP whenever he kills something. Might be better for general ruins exploration more than bosses.

I have not noticed anyone mentioning this elsewhere, but this spirit ash heals itself when it makes a kill. Probably not important when using for a boss fight, but I was surprised to find him filling up his health bar when killing the guys at the bottom of palace approach road. Was just testing a few ashes down there.

                                              Carried me hard through bosses.

Insanely good at tanking hits, great ranged damage (and taking aggro from range), solid close-range melee damage and obtainable fairly early on.

Even when I got more "elite" summons I found myself occasionally using this fella' instead with more success.

This guy is pretty decent at staggering malania 1st phase if you happen to be looking for a summon that doesnt do all the work. It's a fun sniper support summon.

                                                • Anonymous

I'm really confused about this one. I killed the boss on my first playthrough and this never dropped. I shrugged it off as me just selling it as a dumbass. I started a Ng+ yesterday and killed it just now and the only thing it dropped was the rememberance. How the hell do you even get it?

                                                  • Anonymous

Everyone is talking about mimic ashes, but i really like this one. It's not as strong as mimic, however, very versatile companion to fight with. His ranged attack almost always staggers bosses with low poise(helped me a lot on invisible catacomb boss). And never misses unless there's no obstacle blocking his line of fire. And it has not a bad damage either. Also, his melee hammer attacks does good poise damage also.

However he is not as tanky as it seems in boss battle. Especially bosses with charge attack will melt him down pretty quick. Therefore, as i mentioned early, let the aggro goes to player most of the time and let him do the ranged attack.

Overall. He is not overpowered by any means. However, he is very fun to fight together strategically.

                                                    • Anonymous

This is awesome for Melee builds. Go lop some heads off with your big **** off axe while a spiritual rail gun takes them out from 100 ft away. Very useful!

                                                      • Anonymous

This guy has been an absolute tank for me the entire game. I let him get a few shots off to get the bosses attention before I start smacking them with weapon arts and he has a tonne of HP.

                                                        • Anonymous

This could be a really good support summon for the melee builds, bringing in some extra chip damage, but unfortunately most spirit summons are far useful for going to be used to take aggro off you rather then the other way around.
