I didn't have this talisman so I went back here but the chest is already opened. Is there anything that prevents you from getting this?

      • After giving it some thought I think this is actually a poor choice compared to other options for bow builds, for one sole reason:

"Talisman raises attack power of arrows and bolts..."

Unless this is just a poor description, that means it's ONLY increasing the damage of the ARROW, and not the BOW as well.

Since the strongest arrows only net about 100 AR (or ~150 AR for greatarrow), you should only see a damage increase of 10-15 AR, since its not accounting for the AR from the bow.

Same concept applies for the scorpion charm talismans, but even worse. Using a Black Bow shooting a lightning arrow as an example; that 12% boost is only being applied to the 90 AR portion of the lightning arrow, and nothing from the Black Bow itself. Yielding an additional 9 damage in total

A bow build would benefit significantly more from some of the other damage-boosting talismans affect it

Shard of Alexander - Boosts the attack power of Ashes of War by 15% (which alreay do like 2000 damage)
Arrows Sting - Boosts the attack power of Arrows and Bolts by 10% (which do like 200 damage)

Gotta love how much deep entrenched hatret Fromsoft has for bow builds.

From what I understand, it can be difficult how to piece together a bow focused build. However, from what I have heard of others' experience, it is safe to say that bow builds can be buffed the same way they could be in Dark Souls - that is to say, they benefit from thrust damage, they benefit from any elements that are applied to the bow or arrows, they benefit from talismans that raise damage in general, and so forth. As a result, the best general set up is to have Arrow Sting Talisman and Spear Talisman at all times, and then adjust for a scorpion charm, Red-Feathered Branchsword, Arrow Reach Talisman, and Ritual Sword Talisman. However, some testing is still required for the Winged Sword Talisman and the rotten variant by the same name, to determine if shortbows and the Barrage skill can trigger the consecutive attack requirement.

Getting the arrows sting talisman early in the game can be a nightmare, I died multiple times over and over, its not in any way easy to get for a low levelled character, so I hope this helps. There are two Radhan soldiers with crossbows on the lowest walkway of the tower. There are another four on the top level where the chest with the talisman is. They'll see you before you finish climbing the ladder and attack right away. In the end the only way I was eventually able to get the talisman that early was by using the gravity-stone chunk and gravity-stone fan like hand grenades, throwing them at the floor and hitting all the soldiers at once with the AoE. One stone should give you enough time to get to the chest and grab the talisman. These gravity-stones made dealing with aggressive soldiers in such a small area much, much easier. Just to clarify though, according to its page the place to find gravity chunks and fans in-game soonest, is either 'sellia crystal tunnel' or by killing the gravity stone peddler's that spawns at the isolated merchant's shack in dragonbarrow.

It's in the tower right next to Impassable Greatbridge site of grace, just circle around it till you find a ladder. After climbing up, the talisman should be in a chest in the corner.

The chest for this talisman can simply disappear, making acquisition impossible. Suggest heading to redmane as early as possible to properly acquire this talisman. It is incredibly time consuming to test when this chest disappears, but it's likely sometime after the Death of Radahn or after Jerran leaves and enemies take the area.

Also raises damage of Kukris. Imagine that means it works similar to the one in DS3 for consumable damage (at least with throwing knives and similar)

This with the other arrow talisman and mighty shot from a greatbow does serious work especially if it's a headshot.

                      • Anonymous

I think this is broken - at least with 'Mighty Shot' weapon art.
I was just fighting astel void thingy, and my mighty head shots were doing 350.
With this talisman equipped the same shot damage went down to 250ish.

I think whats happening is that it is applying +10% to my normal shot damage rather than the mighty shot 'normal' damage.

the nomadic merchant just east from the “astray from caelid highway north” grace sells an unlimited amount of these for 120 runes each

It boosts damage by 10% at least for crossbows and ballistas. I haven't tested with bows and greatbows, but I presume it is the same

South East most side of the map there’s a castle, to get to the castle is a big ol bridge with a sign of grace. Next to that is a tower, climb that bish and loot the chest at the top. That’s where it is.
