- Upon activation, the user makes a quick dash to the side, before suddenly stabbing the enemy from the side.
- When locking onto an enemy, inputting the left or right movement key when using the weapon skill will move the user in said direction.
- The dash briefly grants an unknown amount of invulnerability frames.
- The stab attack deals piercing damage, and thus is affected by the Spear Talisman.
- The stab also completely bypasses blocking, similar to the Piercing Fang weapon skill.

Waiting for someone to drop an analysis on this weapon's i-frames so I can counter the people who spam this so hard they end up underground.

Didn't some dagger in DS3 have this as its weapon art? Could be a neat AoW for daggers.

I'd say the nerf has put this in a good place, it's still viable, while being less annoying to fight against.

I came to see people talking about the fun new skill and it'a just mofos whining about pvp. Probably completely busted there but it's a fun way to end a boss fight with style.

Useless! This really needs to be added to colossal weapons for it to be worth anything at all

This is as bad as it sounds. I thought people were exaggerating but turns out they're right about you and anyone who spams this on duels.

For anyone trying to defend this, literally look up Scott Jund's Vid where he defeats someone using only this on a duel on react.
By smashing the controller on his face.
If that doesnt convince you of how stupid this AOW is, then nothing will.

Just get a heavy weapon with a sweeping heavy attack and hit behind you without locking on. The noob using this will trade with you and lose as long as you dont get poise broken. I do this with guts greatsword and watch em panic.

Some things feel like they were made for bad players to have a chance, but the problem is if a total newbie can kill most of the players with it, then a skilled experienced player can abuse it beyond imagination. Do you think a typical cheat engine G9 enthusiast twinker won't touch it? No, he will and he will be aquipped with infinite consumables, 5 copies of every meta weapon with different ashes just in case and he will invade 1st times at limgrave that will grow to hate pvp and switch to seamless coop.

I was looking for a way to safely to fight and trade against heavy weapons on a low poise and low absorption build for fashion, but this does feel incredibly scummy, is there any less toxic way to fight against poise monsters and hyper armor or one shot spammers?

Some misinformation going around about this skill so lets clarify a few things.
Blind Spot does have i-frames. In fact it has exactly as many i-frames as Bloodhound's step. This is also half as many frames as Dynast's Finesse and the lunge forward from Bloodhound's Finesse. The i-frames of Blind Spot last for exactly the first half of the animation from pressing the button to the attack actually connecting. This means for the latter half of the "dodge" animation the player can still be hit. The entire animation is not 100% i-frames.
Due to the nature of the ash of war (dodge then an attack) it also has over twice as much recovery time between pressing the button and when you can act again compared to Bloodhound's Step (this changes depending on the action you're trying to use but it is always at least twice as long). Additionally since it also counts as an attack there is also a massive counter window between the attack portion of the animation and when the player can act again (the frames when a player takes more piercing damage from an opposing attack during an attack animation).
Take from this what you will.
honestly wouldn’t be nearly as bad if they just didn’t give it I-frames. Sure, probably still strong enough that it should have a little more end lag, but the fact that you can decide what side you move to could lead to a pretty cool rock-paper-scissors playstyle where you need to predict what side your opponent will try to attack and then press the opposite direction. Maybe in addition to that instead of just giving it more end lag it could get a follow up attack that roll catches but with real lag at the end of that? Too much work for fromsoft post-release, but it’s my best idea for an actually fun version of this. also make it so it can be applied to ANYTHING BEYOND THE F****** WEAPON CATEGORY WITH TWO INFUSABLES???? From’s design choices really run the gamut from best in industry to mentally disabled.

The most broken skill in the game at the moment. You can just close your eyes and press L2 non stop, you're invincible anywau

I love how you can use Backhand Blades in pvp, without using either Blind Spot or Swift Slash and your opponent will use it as a reason to swap to them and just spam those skills either way. I cannot wait for the inevitable pvp changes to this skill, as at the moment it is just so incredibly unfun to fight against.

I'm not asking for a nerf, I understand why its so popular, cause weapons are cool and this looks cool as well
BUT
How can I approach a player using this, while I have a slower weapon? He can press it on reaction any time and my attack recovery is too long to roll his attack.
- Anonymous
This should have been able to be put on twinblades since there is a blade on the back end of the weapon.
- Anonymous
You gotta love a dirt bag player spamming this and acting like their hotshit, I really hope they gut this stupid ****
- Anonymous
Just about any time someone is low on health and panicking in PvP they start spamming this.
- Anonymous
Can this be parried? I just fought someone who did not throw any other attack than this and no matter how many times I tried I couldn't parry it. Is this just a skill issue or is this thing broken?
Isn't only the backhand blade infusible? If so then we have an ash of war that works in a single weapon. I hope not, it would be a waste.

“let there be rump…” ‘cause they didn’t have to put that much booty in the thumbnail, but they did. they did that for us. Lol.

...you just take it off from backhand blade similarly how you take off spinning strikes of Edgar's banished knight halberd.

this is found on the backhand blade, north-northeast from the scorched ruins site of grace

I genuinely can't wait for this to get nerfed. They either need to gut the i-frames, or add some meaningful recovery to the move.

Someone said that you can use Lost Ashes of War on the Smithscript Cirque/Backhand Blades and you'll get this out of it... I'd hate to spread misinformation, so please give this a cursory test at your own convenience.

Hello Bloodhound Step 2.0. This **** is going to get absolutely face-planted into the nerf dirt.
- Anonymous
did anyone find the AoW of this thing yet? I'd love to put it on the standard backhand blade but as keen
- Anonymous
If you're primarily a melee build, playing passively or using ranged AOW is the best way to deal with anyone using this ash. They'll be able to reaction punish a lot of your melee attacks, so there's really no point in aggressing if they're at least a decent player.
- Anonymous
It is overtuned af in PvP.
It's lightning fast, you literally cannot roll away quickly enough if you are using something heavier than a greatsword and just attacked once. And seemingly it has i-frames. Just complete BS.
- Anonymous
Best ash of war in the game! Why parry when you can miss timing and STILL slip behind an enemy and attack for 700+ damage...
Also, the blind spot AoW works with the spear talisman to boost damage by a couple hundred damage! So good!

If you spam this in colloseum duels I will still beat you but I will also point down, which is nothing compared to the lifetime of autism you need to cope with after though.
