this needsa to be able to be chained or have a follow up attack to fix it it could be a small aoe lightning damage, but as is it has a long wind up so its not good for dodging the damage is pretty pathetic even at 70 faith, and locked on it pretty much only moves to target so its a worse roll.

Honestly my go to ash of war post DLC. Definitely needs a buff but I feel a lot of ppl here are thinking about it the wrong way.
Instead of changing it too drastically as it’s already decently balanced a simple Heavy follow-up (akin to Glintstone pebble or Wave of Darkness) would be the exact boost it needs.

24 July makes an excellent point: most weapons would benefit from Blinkbolt acting like a roll and changing an attack out of it into a rolling attack. However, if you want to make the best use of this Ash as-is, try it on a greatspear, like the Lance. R1 comes out pretty fast and it's got good range since it's a spear attack.

No one's asked the true question, does the damage scale with weapon upgrade or with dexterity scaling, if with a B scaling weapon I'm chipping 130 of my opponent in pvp, would slapping this on back hand blades keen infused increase the damage further

            • Anonymous

If Fromsoft didnt give this a followup because they wanted it to be applicable to any weapon they could have just made the followup a punch or kick or something

remember when fromsoftware made unique and interesting games that stood out among the sea of open world survival shooter clones? Now you play league of legends in second person view, enjoy your flash, ekhem "blinkbolt"

And now, the one million runes question : does this AoW (along with the rest of it's kind) trigger the effects of Leda's armor ?

                  • Anonymous

In PvP, Blinkbolt is absolutely wild on the Milady; chaining them with your Heavy Attacks (Which lunge you forward) creates an insane amount of offensive pressure that can be difficult for your opponent to escape if they're not Light-Rolling

                    • Anonymous

What we have here, is an evasive AoW that is bad at evading. An offensive AoW, that is bad at offense. A tactical AoW then, but without a purpose.

Fails to do its job of closing the gap, you will go past them or if you gauge rhe exact distance youll go in front of them, but that means your doing most of the work anyway, not worth the slot.

Aside from the obvious buff to this very slow "blink"... I think this skill would benefit from a super simple change: the follow up attack being changed from a "neutral" attack, to the selected weapon's "running" attacks. These typically would capitalise on the momentum the skill is clearly trying to invoke much much better.

                          • I wish they gave it an elemental buff like how Flame Spear has one so we don't have to use dogshit Lightning Slash to get it on lightning/sacred affinity weapons

                            • Greatswords one handed R1 and most Colossals' R1 naturally counters it if you know how to space it. The "teleportation" doesn't traverse your character's hitbox meaning that even if the opponent goes behind you, they'll still be pushed to the sides. Just lock-on, attack them with any horizontal move and you'll catch them before they try to hit you. Clapped some people spamming it in the arena, as far as i've seen you can poise through the hit of the dash with at least 70 poise but don't quote me on that and test it yourself if you have the time (i don't).

Really useful against mages and archers in PvP with short weapons. Can also be a mobility tool when unlocked.

Legend says that Miyazaki told his employees that they needed a long anime-looking dash AoW that does damage, but the person who made this and the person who made Swift Slash had extremely different ideas

I am very thankful for the former, this is sick and useful without being broken

Mark my words... this **** is ****ing phenomenal in PvP. You not only go into light/heavy attacks immediately, but this AoW instantly pivots you towards your target after casting. You will throw people WAY off when you use it to punish anything that's not a light attack. I often wind up behind my target after casting... Don't let the haters make you sleep on it.

I'm not very knowledgeable about this game, is there anything that sets this apart from bloodhound's step?

                                      • Anonymous

ppl saying this is bad have clearly never played a fighting game; a command dash that moves you really far forward in a short amount of time, has an active damaging hitbox that can stagger, can immediately be canceled into light or heavy attacks, and only has a brief start-up? This is the *ultimate* PvP chase skill, this will counter anyone who attacks out of hitstun, and if they roll you can easily catch with a light attack. Weapons like the iron cleaver get insane chase potential since you can cancel blinkbolt into the running charged heavy, grabs like inescapable frenzy become way harder to predict and avoid and can factor into mixups. Like come on, rather than looking at its lack of damage/unique followups in a vacuum, apply your mind to come up with situations it could be valuable. I could easily see this becoming a niche PvP favorite once people start theorycrafting setups with it. in PvE, I can see this being useful during boss attack strings with delays to effectively attack while dodging and also clearing more distance away from/behind them to follow up with more counter-attacks.

Slap this on the Smithscript dagger on dex build and melt folks like a butter. You blink, you throw daggers, you have double dipping damage scaling on both phys and lightning damage (all smithscript weapons have this weird double dip scaling). You my friend are a menace!

As an other comment states, it is a very fun aow to gap close with ranged opponent, both in PvE and PvP, with a decent amount of i-frames (need a little bit of practice to get used of the delay tho). Could have been one of my favorite aow if it had a follow up attack, but it doesn't unfortunately.

Every Element gets a sick ash of war and Lightning gets "a dash" compare this to the Gravity or Fire AoW we got in the DLC and dont let me Start on the Uniqe Magic Weapon Arts (i like them all im just sad Lightning isnt as cool as them)

                                              • Anonymous

Everyone complaining about this isn’t seeing the real beauty here. You can gap close mages in a flash.

Not really seeing a use case for this AoW sadly. I noticed it often would do very little to no damage and just immediately put me in line of fire for an attack. The recovery time and lack of travel distance also seems to remove any cases for using it for movement or other utility.

                                                  • Anonymous

This does a little damage (on impact) and, while it doesn't have a unique followup, it does flow into R1 or R2 quickly (whereas it flows into a roll much more slowly). The damage isn't very high and it doesn't have enough stagger power to stagger e.g. miners, but it's nice aggressive cap close that combos into normal attacks. With the Milady, Blinkbolt > R2 is very nice and flows smoothly into R1-4, R2-2, or another Blinkbolt. Fun/10
