Ash of War: Dryleaf Whirlwind is an Ash of War and Upgrade Material in Elden Ring. It is a brand-new Ash of War in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Ash of War: Dryleaf Whirlwind provides Standard affinity and the Dryleaf Whirlwind Skill. Ashes of War can be equipped on Weapons and Shields to modify the Skill or an equipment, or to apply affinities that modify scaling values. Dryleaf Whirlwind is a powerful martial arts skill, that performs lightning-quick movements with a series of devastating kicks.
This Ash of War grants no affinity to an armament, but imparts the following skill:
"Dryleaf Whirlwind: This skill represents the pinnacle of Dane's footwork-based martial artistry. Rise into the air with a series of spinning kicks before crashing down with one final strike. Imbues kicking attacks with energy, increasing their range."
Usable on hand-to-hand weapons.

Elden Ring Ash of War: Dryleaf Whirlwind Notes & Tips
- FP Cost: 9
- Deals 28 stance damage total (16 without FP)
- This Skill is not Chargeable
- Performs a whirlwind with four kicks while in the air
- Damage is increased by Shattered Stone Talisman and Divine Bird Warrior Greaves.
- Using affinities such as bleed or frost can stack faster when using this AoW but can increase better when paired with lord of blood exultation and wing sword insignia (rotten wing if you have it, refer to Millicent's questline for more information)

The " Imbues kicking attacks with energy, increasing their range." part of the flavor text seems to be lying. I've tested, and if there is a difference in range for kicks at all, it's either so small that it wouldn't make a difference anyway, or completely bugged and not working.
Either that, or it just refers to the skill's attack animation only, which is fair, because the range of this skill itself seems to be surprisingly decent.

does this count as a "jumping attack" for claw talisman, etc.?

Location is scuffed. Go to Rauh Ancient Ruins, East grace and run NE until you reach the corner.

Fun fact: this can stunlock Malenia and decimate her lifebar with the appropriate talismans, completely trivializing her fight.
Not very viable against Consort Radahn because its a pretty long animation

"Imbues kicking attacks with energy, increasing their range" I suppose this isn't just flavour text, could someone provide more information?

The Crucible Bird Knights have a leg armour piece that also enhances kicks, im curious if you can combine this skill, those legs, and shattered stone to make a kung fu crane build.

Does this count as a kicking skill ? when using Shattered Stone Talisman

I was kinda hoping the martial art weapon arts could be put on other melee armaments too. It would be sick to weave the kicks with other weapon attacks. Hell, it would be awesome to have a better melee option with bows and crossbows and these could have been it

Dryleaf Arts is one of my MVP in the DLC. I can stunlock those pesky fire warriors in the shadow keep because the L2 is faster than even the dagger wielding ones.

Tatsu from Street Fighter + High Monk from Sekiro. Martial Arts fans are eating good. Now if only we got Prayerful Strikes and the Soul Hadoken.
Objectively a more practical and useful Skill in comparison to Palm Blast. Palm Blast gets hyper armor and more damage on a per use case if you charge it, but its slow, and Dryleaf Whirlwind adds some much needed stagger power to the weapon class and also has multi-hit synergies with Prosthesis and Sword Insignia Talismans, which also inherently compliment the multi-hit nature of the base moveset.
If you wanna go all in Milicent's Prosthesis + Rotten Sword Insignia + Shatterstone + Alex Jar Shard gives you some pretty nice damage.

This ash of war is so useless.. it only works on ONE weapon? (and it's variation and that's it) what's the point why not just give u the weapon with that effect and problem solve. This would've been good if u could use it on ANY fist type weapon wasted potential.

Has damage, breaks poise, is fast, has good tracking, can apply status, can be boosted by the Shattered Stone and Alexander Shard talismans, absolutely incredible AoW
It's been carrying me through several of the DLC bosses

this is the unsheathe of hand to hand arts, 2-3 of these can stance break (even on furnace golems) not to mention stun enemies u can't with regular attacks, if u manage the stamina cost it's quite good and better for status setups and winged insignia setups than the palm fist ash

with shattered stone talisman and blood infusion this ramps up damage pretty quickly

"[Bleed or Frost] can increase better when paired with lord of blood exultation" wtf are you babbling about, LoBE has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with how fast status builds; it gives you a buff for 20 seconds AFTER Blood Loss procs in a wide area around you. Go home, wiki, you're drunk
