This slaps on a faith/melee build. I'm using it on the Great Katana because katanas are my comfort zone.

Throw some incants at far to mid range, close distance with this AOW and do some sick damage with Fire Scorpion Charm and Flame Shrowding cracked tear. Flaming Strike used to be my favorite, but that's long gone since I found this AOW.

Ran out of FP halfway into performing this skill fighting a Blood Fiend and ***** slapped it into stance break it was freaking hilarious

I swear the german translation of some of the DLC equipment must have been done by Google translate. Armament literally was translated to armour. Sure, lemme burn my armour real quick. That'll help. Why is it always something Queelign related that got messed up? First he skews friends upon fire and now armour. Funny how some mistranslations can lead to such hillarious thoughts.

(PVE) comparisons on a Flame Art fire knight greatsword

            Giant hunt:
-higher damage than flame skewer + followup (by like 5%)
-faster than flame skewer + followup
            -great hyperarmor
-pancake flip (very high damagelevel can flinch enemies like tree sentinels and crucible knights)
-lower fp cost (16 vs 26)
-less fire damage and more pierce damage

            Flame skewer:
-Buffs weapon (short duration and small amount) (but looks cool)
            -Great hyperarmor
-slightly higher stance damage (still always below 40 so not a noticeable difference most of the time)
            -more fire damage than physical

From this i can conclude giant hunt is always better unless you're fighting an enemy that is very weak to fire. Flame skewer can also be better for fashion reasons.

I think this is supposed to be an emulation of Messmer’s grab attack: stabbing (or impaling) upwards, followed by a scattering of flame. Makes sense too that we get it from Queelign, Messmer's number 1 fanboy

As someone who barely plays pvp, I decided to use this with the Fire Knights GS and matched with someone else with the same weapon but with flame spear. I absolutely rolled him because I found out that you can use skewer to duck under the spear if you time it correctly. It was a very easy game once I found that out. You can use this in pve to duck attacks that are aimed high. Probably my favorite AoW in the DLC.

Seriously hoping for a buff to the duration of the flame enchantment. Actually can we standardize these buffs to 60s. If Seppuku can last 60s I'm sure this can.

So I have two notes I’d like to bring up. 1) As a Giant Hunt enthusiast, I’m pretty disappointed that the upward thrust of this move doesn’t flip flapjacks like it’s dad Giant Hunt so keep that in mind. And 2) has anyone noticed the massive AR boost the flame coating afterwards gives? My Giant Katana with Flame, Grant Me Blah+Golden Vow(skill) went from 1300 to 2000 which is huge. This page needs an update to display the AR buff and it’s duration.

The follow up still has a hitbox if you're out of FP. I just staggered a knight by giving him a firm 3 dmg slap across the face lol

So apparently, if you miss the first invasion in Belurat, but you defeat Queelign at the second invasion point, he can drop the prayer room key and you can find him at his final location in the church district, but you won't be able to trigger the first invasion in Belurat which means you can miss this ash of war unfortunately

Not sure how to calculate it, but it does less stance damage than Impaling Thrust. For me, it took three thrusts with Flame Skewer to knockdown the golems by Freezing Lake site of grace. With the same weapon, impaling thrust knocked them down in two. So you're trading off stance damage for actual damage between the two.

From what I've noticed in pvp, mostly on myself, if you land the first part the second part is guaranteed to hit. I could be wrong however and there is a small window in which you can roll out of it, however I have not yet found this window.

i wanted to like it but its just giant hunt with less stance damage and more fp cost, with the damage being like the same

I threw this in the Banished Knight's Halberd with a faith/dex build using flame. The L1 poke is shredding through everything. The buff alone without using the actual skewer is very good imho.

If used in neutral close to opponent it is free backstab for him. For me it took 1.5 fights to start consistently punish this ash with backstab

tested quickly and the buff seems to be 85 flat damage added to your weapon, and this doesn't change with charge duration.

Yea yea its good damage and a neat buff but you can B*itch slap enemies if you do the follow up heavy without any fp and thats the real best part of this

                                      • Anonymous

did a quick timing test, buff seems to last about 20sec from moment of input compared to Flame Spear's 40

                                        • Anonymous

this ash can combo into a weapon l1 for pvp, so pair this with the fire knights greatsword for the ultimate true combo with colossal sword damage and hyper armor.

doing a str/fai even split build and im looking for a weapon to put this on with fire or flame infusion to fit a fire theme. best i got right now is guardian swordspear, but does anyone have any better recs?

                                            • Anonymous

This skill covers distance, buffs your weapon, is super fast, does great damage, and has a follow-up attack. I'm thinking this might be a bit busted

                                              • This comes with a hefty fire buff buuuuuut, compared to Giant Hunt this does not have the humanoid pop up that Giant Hunt has.

So it doesn’t replace Giant Hunt as the perfect invasion cheese.

Stagger damage is absurd with this AoW, equipped on Flame Art Great Katana +25 and I've had little to no problem on most of the bosses so far with this
