Elden Ring players really got a Bloodborne gun parry and never use it because it does no direct damage
Goddamn this playerbase is something else

To get this one, hop up and walk into the tall grass up where it despawned. Relog and from a distance use a strong charged range atk/spell. Don't get too close, has a fast despawn

Pretty sure this can sometimes screw up your parries if you time them on what would normally be a solid parry using standard parry range. Something about the extended parry connecting early and counting as a fail.

I don't see anything about FP consumption. Does it genuinely cost no FP at all ?
Damage was low enough on my level 1 no upgrades run to where I couldn't kill the scarab with one arrow, and once it teleported, I could NOT find it again. Like, I ran allllll around the staircase, killed everything, looked out around the troll area, out to the fire slugs, and even around the Margit 2 spot. Wherever this thing teleports, it feels impossible to find.
So anyway, I saved/quit right above its initial spawn point, then jumped down and killed it upon reloading.

This gives me hope that the DLC will bring a ranged weapon that can parry, Bloodborne style.

It's worth noting that this skill consumes FP every time you use it, regardless if it's a successful parry or not. However, if your FP are empty, using the skill will perform a regular parry that still has the parry frames of Golden Parry, it just won't have the increased range. You can only parry melee attacks with this skill, but the long and wide telegraph combined with the generous active frames allow you to parry multiple enemies at once. Just remember to not use the Sacred affinity provided by the Ash of War since it will decrease your guarded damage negation against most damage types.
Carian Retaliation allows you to also parry spells and will only consume FP if you successfully do so; parrying regular attacks with Carian Retaliation costs nothing. I still think the increased parry range of Golden Parry makes it overall better since you can parry most melee attacks without putting yourself in range, so you will not get hit if you fail the parry.

Greetings Traveler!
Before scrolling further down you'd best be warned, the lands below feature some of the worst takes you'll find in these parts. Best to be moving back up and trying a different page, if you ask me.
- Anonymous
Use this on a shield that is capable of blocking at least 1 colossal swing. 63 guard boost seems to be the min for it so there are very light shields capable of blocking these.
- Anonymous
I thought Carian Retal was superior because it doesn't consume FP on a whiff or a melee parry and because the frames are the same - I was wrong. Golden Parry throws a MASSIVE parry wall in front of you that catches EVERYTHING. Especially noticable fighting the crucible knights - you can parry them from so far away their attacks wouldn't even hit you, when a normal parry requires you to basically parry the hand holding the weapon and not the weaopn itself.

How is this is any better than spamming rivers of blood? Parrying used to take practice and skill, but now you can literally parry without correct timing.
This community man, it’s so hypocritical. It constantly goes on about “skill” and “getting good”, yet finds excuses to use the most OP and brain dead things in pvp.

If you need a way to kill this thing, just jump up on the railing that it's on a bit away from it so it doesn't see you and then crouch-walk over to it on the railing. Gives you a free melee hit, which should easily be enough to kill it with most weapons.

this skill is too goofy you can parry even if their attack would've missed

Anyone know if the extra parry frames only apply to the hitbox of the golden arc that appears, or are the frames on the actual shield swing also given better parry frames?
- Anonymous
Easy way I found is Assassins gambit and a fire pot. Just us the skill and walk over and fire pot it.

anyone struggling to kill the bug, bro just shoot it. it has like 4 hp. Strength? Jar cannon. Dex? any bow. Int faith arcane. use your noggin.

Terrible in pvp. Attack and parry. All you gotta do. U can block their attack and with the fastest weapon in the game attack right away and they parry game over. Whats the point?
- Anonymous
Is it just me, or does this scarab seem to be coded to disappear unreasonably swiftly?
Like.. a pure melee build can't get it without exit/reload cheesing.. a ranged can't target it at all from a distance without jumping up which triggers it disappearing, or going on the balcony and also exit/reload cheesing.
Is it meant to encourage cheesey play???

Just put this here: all attacks beside grab can be parried, the difference is just that you will take damage or not. For "parryable' attacks: you take no damage and stamina damage if you parry perfectly. for "Unparryable" attacks: you will get the partial parry effect: some damges and lots of stamina damage. tested this with dragon feet stomp attacks and bell bearing hunter shield bash.
- Anonymous
Its range increase actually extends beyond the hit range of most weapons, allowing you to even parry attacks that would normally fall short and miss you. Meaning every whiff becomes a potential no-risk parry if you're familiar with weapon spacing.
- Anonymous
I let the scarab teleport away, then I went to the balcony where it was and positioned myself not too far from where it spawns but not too close either, reloaded the game and killed it with the pulley crossbow.

Looks like this one is the best, been watching youtubers abusing this one on small shields rather than using the buckler.
- Anonymous
Slightly worse than Carian parry. Both have exactly the same amount of parry frames and startup, both are faster than buckler parry even with medium shield. The difference is: Golden Parry always drains FP while Carian parry only costs FP if you parry a spell with it. Oh and Golden Parry does not one shot people.
- Anonymous
This is really good for parrying mounted enemies, you can stay a fair distance away and have better parry frames to boot
- Anonymous
does anyone know if this still parries if you run out of fp?
- Anonymous
best aow for shields if tou don't plan on memeing with carian, has an insane amount of parry frames and enourmously extends the hit detection
btw, every humanoid boss can be parried, except radahn and elden beast

- Anonymous
Extends parry frames to about the same as buckler, even on medium shields.
- Anonymous
"Slight distance" is pretty disingenuous. This looks more like pike reach distance
- Anonymous
This Ash is the closest thing you're going to get to a gun party in Elden Ring
- Anonymous
too bad this cant go on other parrying devices such as fist/claw, thrusting swords, and curved swords. their parry frames are very sub-par compared to the buckler/med shield, even though the thrusting sword shares the same anim as medium shields
- Anonymous
This is an extremely useful version of parry, it's very handy to have when facing off against larger foes or if you just want a little more range. It does have a downside however, it has a noticeably longer animation which makes it more punishing to miss, especially when you panic parry as the animation is long enough that you won't have time to roll away against most foes.

As a Faith build that sucks at parrying, this thing carried me through the Commander Niall fight
- Anonymous
Pretty busted parry as you can effectively parry someone out of their attacking range
- Anonymous
Drop down strong attack from the ledge while stealth right above it with good melee will one-shot it without it running away
- Anonymous
Two successive Glintsone Pebbels on a 40 Int character were enough to kill the Beetle before he vanishes. The first shot took out 3/4 of his health, so is likely possible at even lower Int.
- Anonymous
Is there a difference in the parry window using this on a small or medium shield?
- Anonymous
not sure if anyone has a better way of actually killing the scarab, but I was able to with one shot using Golem Greatbow using Radahn's Spear as arrows

My little brother who never parried anything in his life kept getting me with this. The range and parry window is op.

Holy moly, I just parried the tip of a spear stab. This, uh, this is pretty good.
- Anonymous
Okay, so this thing has a ridiculous range. It creates a wave of light that's goes out to about the range of a medium roll, or about 4 characters worth of distance. The entire zone between your shield and the end of the light wave is the parry. Being able to parry attacks when you are over a roll distance away from it is pretty funny.

Got this from a ghostly looking scarab on the left side of the steps leading to Leyndell Royal Capital. South from the outer wall battleground grace. Disappears when you get close. Ranged attack'll have to do.
- Anonymous
‘Effective even at a slight distance.’ The Hail Mary Parry just got buffed. Imagine defeating a gank, chasing down the host, and throwing out a R1. He 180s and slaps away your sword, then one-shots you. Oh the pepper we’ll all need…

Found on scarab between the two Outer Wall graces of Leyndall, on the leftside of the giant staircase where the Lost Ashes of War is located.
AKA the DS1 medium shield parry
