Was looking forward to buffing my uchi with vyke's dragonbolt and using the aow on the dragonscale blade for the drip, but alas.

man i wish this wasnt only usable on shields and torches, what if i want to use the weapon art of my left hand weapon and remove the weapon art of my right weapon? i doubt it will, but i hope it gets updated to just all weapons

Most invaders at low level have this equipped by default, seeing how they can only win by twinking and rotting :)

when my friend came by he saw the "no skill" description in the hud above the weapon (as usual) and laughed saying the game itself calls me names (well he isn't half wrong tbh)

I appreciate having a straightforward on-screen explanation I can easily point to anytime someone asks me why I'm running around with two catalysts.

I wish putting this on your left hand weapon gave you access to the full left-hand moveset--heavy/running/jump/etc. attacks. Make mix-ups great again.

                • I will say that making this a thing is one of those times that FromSoft actually shows a great deal of foresight when it comes to builds. Without this, some shield using builds could be severely gimped.

I think there is an opportunity with this “No Skill” ash of war for use on weapons.

                    A few ideas would be…

When “No Skill” is used on a weapon:

(Only one of these, not all)

1: reduces equip load for weapon.

2: improves scaling on certain infusions (quality, standard)

3: provides access to new affinities which have pure elemental damage, removing str and dex scaling for int and/or fth.

4: allows access to raw and mundane affinities. Raw has high base damage and low/no scaling, while mundane scales with your lowest stat.

5: increases poise damage dealt when two-handed.

6: allows for the use of the weapon’s default ash of war, while also allowing any affinity (applicable restrictions apply depending on the type of ash, ex. Godskin peeler cannot use bleed etc. with no skill, only flame art, fire, and the 4 physical infusions, while their ash stays as black flame tornado).

That’s all I can think of that could be worth removing the ash of war for… just some ideas to get the imagination going for something like this. I think it would be fun with even one of these changes.

"There's a myriad of battle arts in these lands that I've yet to discover. Mementos of all the warriors who raised their arms in battle, lost, and died. A fine tale, all told, of true chivalric romance. That's how I fell in love with the sword, and the arts of combat. It grants meaning even to falling in battle, to death itself." (c) Knight Bernahl

from please let us put this on all weapons i just want to be able to use a good AoW weapon in my offhand with a better damage dealer in my main

and yes i am too lazy to switch to 2 handing every 5 seconds in the middle of combat

That Guy who says Elden Ring is too easy because he used mimic tear +10 and rivers of blood on every boss

In-game description is misleading. No-Skill only works if you use it in the left hand. If you have a No-Skill weapon on the right, and any other Ash of War on the left, the button will just do a the standard left-handed light combo, instead of activating the skill. They really should change that so it works both ways.

I don't like parrying outside of certain circumstances (zamor ruins) and I don't care about shield bashing. This is the only skill I use on my shields. Like others have said, it lets you use your weapon arts one-handed while also having your shield ready for blocking. Don't sleep on this skill just because people say "it's bad" or "it's for casters", because I can guarantee you, that's wrong.

curious what the poison/blood build up is for if you put blood/poison affinity, does it add bloodloss/poison on my main hand or is it only if i hit with the shield? obviously with no skill hitting with shield is not possible with right hand equipped but then is the blood/poison affinity just for the arcane scaling?

                                • The only real use of it that I can see is for sorcerer staff, catalysts and dual-wielded weapons that you want to attack with, but don't like their arts. With empty ash of war, the other weapon will take over when using a weapon art.

I think you should be able to use this on whatever you like, as to allow you to use the left hand weapon's L2 during a powerstance

I put it on crossbows so I don't accidentally kick and yeet myself off the cliff. My instinct always tells me to press L2 for aiming when two-handing the crossbow since I played too much shooters. I know this is really specific but I just want to put it here

As someone who keeps a staff in the left and sword in the other, I REALLY wish these were usable on staffs. L2 shield bonk is pointless to have.

Wish you could put this on weapons, would be nice for powerstancing with some, particularly if you want to use weapon buffs on your right but the art on your left

Comes by default on the samurai class ;^)
Put it with a torch to keep your right hand weapon going and for style points.
Also looks cool when casting fire incantations
