This Ash of War grants an armament the Quality affinity and the following skill:

Usable on all melee armaments.

Ash of War: Royal Knight's Resolve Location in Elden Ring

Where to find Ash of War: Royal Knight's Resolve:

  • From the Temple of Eiglay Grace, exit the northeast door that opens to the west. Enter the small building that only contains a lift, and ride it up. Continue straight across the big hallway northwest. (This requires having unlocked the lift. Take the "long way" from the Temple to the big hallway, past the lava pools, if the lift isn't unlocked.) Continue down into the building to the north; the first room is empty, and the room you enter through a doorway, facing east, looks like a throne room. Go up one flight of stairs on either side, and turn around and continue going up a second flight of stairs to the western door. There will be an imp statue in the next room. Carefully jump down the cages, and be wary of the sorcerer enemy halfway down, and the crawling enemies at the bottom. The Ashes of War are in the room past the door to the northeast.
  • Video Location

tl;dr: Behind the Imp Seal in the hall where various nobles are praying. You can access this area after kiling the Godskin Noble.

works good for whips, you can buff out of range and almost all of your attacks should be able to make advantage of this

Am I the only one who wishes this kind of skill came with the dashing sweep attack that the Leyndell Knights use?

Hot take: this didn't need a nerf and they went way too hard on it. Good players can easily wait out this AoW and half the time you lose it to a phantom hit anyway. Only really shined against unsuspecting new players.

            Fromsoft buff again pls.

            • Anonymous

should only be equipable on weapons capable of doing strike damage (except whips those should be doing slash anyways)

              • Anonymous

I wish the cast time was just a tad slower. Or at least bring back barricade shield being able to hard counter it.

Jumping R2s from offscreen with this thing are basically comet spams for poise builds let's be real. Nothing should clear over 1500 HP in a single hit what in the ****

                  • Anonymous

It's the pvp button! Well at least on melee builds. With light load you can stall out med load builds that use this but the duels generally last over 10 minutes.

                    • Wtf lol, Is anyone else trying to use this after 1.07 and having it use lions claw instead? Have rkr on both of my giant crushers so can't be using the wrong hand or something.

Oh yeah pure strength is definitely fun! Just use Royal knight's resolve royal knight's resolve royal knight's resolve royal knight's resolve and royal knight's resolve, and press nothing other than A and r2/l1 over and over! strength builds are so fun and chad bro!

This is extremely volatile in general, and it's just straight up broken on Piercing weapons. This + Spear Talisman + Piercing Counterhit = GG EZ in PvP against 99% of the player base. You practically can't lose trades with this, unless you are purposefully handicapping yourself. Just dump everything into Vigor, Endurance, and Faith (for buffs like FGMS or GV) to maximize your survivability, put on some heavy armor + other talismans that also boost your survivability, then trade attacks with your thrusting weapon of choice while this buff is active.

This thing makes the roars like Warcry look like a joke. What's a 7.5% increase in comparison to an 80% increase? Who cares if it only lasts 10 seconds, Warcry only lasts 20 (still really short) and give less than 1/10 the buff. Who cares if the buff fades after 1 attack, you'd need more than 10 attacks to get the same value on Warcry.

This and determination should be nerfed significantly in PvP. Its crazy to me how From can nerf the scorpion charms to hell in PvP and keep this unaltered.

Great for boss fights where you don't get a lot of time for flashy aow, which is about 90% of the game...

Its such a lazy design - just press the button for twice the dmg. No fancy animations, no drawbacks, its not a new attack, alternative r2, or anything interesting in any way. Its something Blizzard would put on 20$ lootbox as a passive effect

This with heavy giant crusher at 80 strenth one shots everyone in one jumping attack. People really need to get their vigor up. 60 vigor should be mandatory for pvp

80% increase to your damage, cost 15 fp, allows you to win every trade.

Yeah you obviously know how good this is.

20/10: If they nerf this thing in the future I Honestly wouldn’t be mad or surprised

If you're frustrated with aspects of the game, especially regarding PVP, such as certain builds that are OP as all hell and require no skill to make work, this is the perfect counter ash for you to put them in their place and keep playing how you want to play. All it does is bring your damage up to their levels yet still requires you to show your skill in being able to land the hit.

I have it on a Zweihander and try to keep the spear talisman equipped if I can, rolling into these kinda players with 80 poise armor on and just stabbing them in the face quicker than they can react for 1200+ damage then watching them be the ones to turn and run is hilarious. Even if you swing the Zweihander it should do 900-1000+ damage against most players with just a light attack as long as RKR is up.

Also, make sure to not chase after them if they get away, just point down when they hightail it and let them come back to you and just do it again lol.

If you're like me and you've got big wood on the idea of doing GIANT RIPOSTE, just rkr before you know an attack is coming in, then parry that. Receive one gorillion damage in a way that is actually skill based.

                                        • Anonymous

Does the buff only work on the weapon you have the ash on or can you use the buff and deal the damage with something else?

                                          • I sure hope they add an ash of war like Sword Dance except it does 7 loop-de-loops at only 3 fp more. Ooo, or how about Super Spinning Slash where it has about 20 meters more range. Maybe Wilder Strikes which is like Wild Strikes but wilder. I love ashes of war that are literally just direct upgrades to already existing ashes of war making the originals irrelevant which is why I only use bloodhound step, rivers of blood, and this thing.

WTF are the people writing these directions on? Would it kill them to give simpler directions? Like why mention the lift of we’re not gonna ****ing use it?

Quite busted, most likely will be nerfed in the second wave of nerfs after they patch out all the other, dumber bullshit. Enjoy your thrusting sword true combo oneshots while it lasts

FYI, this and the halberd from the commander boss in aeonia swamp give the best pure AR weapon and body buffs in the game. Jellyfish shield can be stacked too but must be cast last as it will disappear if the shield is swapped out or placed on the back. If you're a crit build, that's 120% damage on your next attack without equipping any seals or talismans....

                                                  • Anonymous

Massive buff for critical attack. Riposte Malenia and deals 6k damage. It just window to do it is so small between swapping shield and activate it. But if successfull, it just absolutely satisfying.

                                                    • Anonymous

Just had I thought I wanted to share, it may be obvious to some, but I had to run the numbers to make sure I was right. If I’m wrong about any of this, please correct me.

Determination and Royal Knight’s Resolve are basically the same Ash of War, with RKR having 80% damage over Determination’s 60%. This is at the cost of 15 FP over Determination’s 10 FP. If you’re going for a mega one shot melee build then RKR is probably your best bet no matter what, but if you’re not, depending on how much FP you end up with you may find that Determination actually will give you more bang for your buck.

If your hit is doing exactly 100 damage, with Determination that will turn into 160 damage, and 180 damage for RKR. For my build I end up with 87 FP. That’s enough for either five charges of RKR or eight charges of Determination.

                                                      160 x 8 = 1,280
                                                      180 x 5 = 900

So, for me, knowing how I play and now knowing these numbers, I will be sticking with Determination over RKR for my Vagabond / Quality build toon. So, just think about your build, your skills, your play style, and how exactly your PVP matches have gone down since Elden Ring’s release then decide if Determination or RKR is better for you. Don’t assume that RKR is just better all around for everyone because of its higher damage. There are tradeoffs, I don’t think one is necessarily truly better than the other. For me personally, the three extra uses of Determination are a good thing that give me more chances to get off bigger hits and inevitably do more damage if all of them land.

                                                      • Found a bug where RKR will be used after parrying with the a dagger with parry (I tried it with the parrying dagger with and without the actual party ash of war.) and not after parrying with a shield. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post links here, but I did make a video for it.

                                                        • Anonymous

Why am I not getting the option to change the affinity of my giant crusher to heavy with the royal knight resolve ash of war?

                                                          • Anonymous

Thing works with critical damage. Might be too tight of a window to do after a parry, but doing it for backstabs and for staggered big enemies sure is fun.

                                                            • Anonymous

You can duplicate and put on both your big boy weapons, cast on left hand first or it won’t work.

Now do jump attacks for many thousands of damage hehe

                                                              • Anonymous

Not worth using this on both off hand and main hand for one-shot strength AR builds after patch. If you still want to try these builds it seems better to 2hand the Giant Crusher with this instead.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

Tested this with incantations - works in full and does not consume the buff either. Almost guaranteed to work with spells too. As another user already stated you can also multiplicatively stack this by activating it on multiple weapons and this too will work for the incantations. Tried with Boulder, went from 500 to ~1700 damage. Problem is the window is very small and the manacost somewhat expensive. It's a lot less effort to just use Moonveil and 1 shot everything that way.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Stacks with itself multiplicatively, so using 2 of this on different weapons gives you 1.8 * 1.8 = 3.24 damage increase on your next attack (TRIPLE DAMAGE!)
Also works for spells, totaly imbalanced ash of war atm.

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

I just discovered I had this skill today, so I've been using it. Then I found out it buffs your other equipment on the other hand, which is probably unintended. BUT I had the idea of duplicating it and putting it on another offhand dagger. Two hand the dagger, use it, and then go back to dual wielding and use the skill on your right hand weapon. The effects stack, so you can get a MASSIVE hit with your main weapon. More or less kinda just a fun way to use the bug, but I would imagine this will get patched soon.

BUT i swear i'm squishy so this is totally fair :p

So you can use it on the right hand weapon and keep attacking with the left to get 60% bonus for 10 seconds with you left hand weapon (also buff staffs and magic dmg)
You can you basically one shot anything with this on the right build, other players included in pvp
