I'd always assumed (for whatever reason) that this was mostly a PvP ash. I thought that it might be good against human-sized enemies like Omen or Knights but otherwise there's no point in running it, since trading is nearly always a poor idea in PvE, especially against bosses who are bigger and stronger than you. Little did I know that the Stamp part gives not just insane hyper armor, negating like 50% of the damage, but can absorb staggers and even knockdowns from foes as huge as lions, Erdtree avatars, and even some bosses like Morgott and Godfrey. I've been having tons of fun rediscovering boss patterns by figuring out which attacks can be Stamped through and which need to be dodged. Give it a try on a colossal sword/colossal weapon!

God I wish you could put this on caestus and get some mean uppercuts

On a colossal sword, if crouch poke hit, then stamp upward cut will roll catch, so careful on your roll

For anyone wondering, upward cut deals more damage than the sweep variant. I tested it and it was about 110~ extra damage. Using the Godskin Stitcher +0.

I always trick people with this I stomp 4 times threw a dagger stomped again then upward cut.

Golem helberd with this on will almost completely stun lock crucible knights if u spam it

Oh btw if you dont know where bernahl is, there's a Banished Knight that you can kill for his sword that has the AoW infused with it so it's good if you dont know where he is, also I killed it when I was like lvl 21.

Not great for PvP. If you whiff it (and your opponent knows what they're doing) its a free backstab.

I was disappointed that I couldn't keep Charge Forward in my Golem Halberd if wanted to infuse it. Finally decided to equip and yest this ash and I'm satisfied with the results.
A guaranteed critical if you combo Stamp upward cut and charge attack on humanoid enemies after you sent them flying.
I don't why I slept on this Ash for so long.

this is actually quite good for rykard if you're insane and fight him without the serpent hunter. the stamp resets your poise health so you can stay in the lava longer

Any tips how to use it in pvp? I’m trying, put people either have time to dodge sweep completely, or I take full damage for using it too early. It’s tough but I want to use it.

Why is this parry-able? Got my stamp parried by carian retaliation. Is this a genuine mechanic/ intended? Or is this a major oversight? I was using a colossal sword with this ash of war

Tested on app version 1.05
50% damage reduction during the stomp animation.
This is stronger than endure.

The whole stamp animation loses all "recoil" prevention, allowing you to be hit out of it the moment your foot hits the ground. Between that and the lag between the stamp and being allowed to follow up, you're a sitting duck for way too long.

Giant Hunt does more dmg, faster to hit, faster to recover, better roll catcher, kinda FP expensive. Uppercut… it’s niche is in trading with attacks. Where as Giant Hunt still has a good bit of Hyper Armor, Uppercut gives near infinite AND a damage reduction mean you can tank through more attacks and be healthier for it.
I still think Giant Hunt is the superior skill but this has it own niche that Giant Hunt can’t contend with and viceversa.

Does this has anything over giant hunt other than being able to time the swing?

Does reset poise health when only doing the first bit. Making this very good.

Who doesn't love a counterplay that sends your opponent flying through the air? I f*cking love this AoW.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you also seem to take less dmg while in the bracing animation.
The brace definitely gives extra poise though; I used it to poise through trolls' attacks multiple times.

Easily the best STR ash if war as it's cheap as hell, demolishes human sized enemies throwing them into the air, and is amazing for face fighting larger bosses as the stamp grants a boatload of poise and let's you dodge anything aimed at your torso and above.
Never unslot this if you're a true Unga bunga enjoyer.

This + Barrier of Gold + Scholars armament spell = Rage Trunks

I've found this to be the strength builds version of unsheathe. The stomp part is the best part imo. You can go right through an attack and it definitely seems like it prevents a certain amount of damage almost like a block, and the follow up attack more than makes up for the risk. On most non extra large sized enemies launches them up basically guarantee a charged heavy and consequently a stance break and crit. Bosses take massive stance damage and on a already heavy weapon could break boss stance in 2 hits

Quick Combo: Roll, Stamp, Upward Cut, Watch the Birdie, and if Birdie is still alive End it's Misery.
Poise Combo: Hit, Stamp, and Upward Cut. Risky but deadly if timed right.

Why were Stamp (Upward Cut) and Stamp (Sweep) split into two different abilities? It should be 1 ash where you upward cut with R2 and sweep with R1. It makes no sense why FROM split these from the single ability they were in DS3.
