Happy new year, this is still the best looking ash of war in the game and I will use it for the fashion over anything else.

      • Anonymous

Does my damage suffer when I infuse this with something else other than holy? Or can my godless sorcerer still use this effectively?

        • Anonymous

y'all are some moany faced cry babies my god, I'm out here living my absolute best life with 'haha angel wings go brr'

          • Anonymous

I really wish this was an Incantation rather than an Ash of War, if only because I'd rather be casting this with an Erdtree Seal in the offhand than with any infusable weapon in the mainhand.

            • Anonymous

Never use it for twinblades, its bad in any situation except for style.
The AoW in general is great for damage with most weapons, but the recovery time WILL put you in danger since it takes a bit to do anything else after hitting with it, so use it carefully (if the enemy flinches on hit, then its safe).
AND THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN INCANTATION THAT SUMMONS THE WINGS AND SWORD, instead of this BS AoW. We already have spells that summons weapons to hit enemies, it wouldnt be hard to do.

Dang it Miyazaki. You screwed up big time for a 100% Ordorvis/Siluria build.
You could have put this or even Aspects of the Crucible: Horns AoW on the Crucible Hornshield as a Somber shield. It's useless right now because of Shield Bash AoW at 60 Guard boost
With Ordovis's Greatsword and it's Ordovis's Vortex AoW
With Siluria's Tree and it's Siluria's Woe AoW
Now you finally make an Aspects of the Crucible: Wings an AoW for a weapon? Why? because Every single Crucible Knight can do AotC:Wings and only a select few can do the others?
                Sigh. again missed opportunity.

Dragon King's Cragblade's Thundercloud Form is basically a better version of the spinning version, unfortunately it scales on Dex. If this did better damage, I'd drop the Cragblade.

                  • Anonymous

I wish this was available on a unique weapon. Hate to change to a plain weapon when I'm full cosplaying a Crucible Knight.

                    • Anonymous

Currently the best way to use this is to place it on the Black Steel Twinblade and buffing the weapon with Order's Blade.

This is because of a couple of reasons. First of all, thanks to the already present faith scaling and holy damage, buffing the weapon with Sacred Blade gets you competitive damage to using the sacred infusion, if you're going for full faith.

Secondly, the motion value for this ash of war are 47, 47, 63, 63, 68, 68, 52 and 52 for the eight times the weapon hits, for both physical and element, in this case holy.

But for some reason, the weapon buff MV for this ash are 100 for each of the eight hits, meaning you do overall roughly 1.62 more damage than the sacred infusion.

Which is really weird, because basically no other ash of war from the game behaves this way, they all share similar motion values between infusions and weapon buffs.

Now if only From Software could improve the tracking of the twinblade version and make it so you wouldn't fly past your target and miss half your hits, that would be great.

a damn shame theres no infusable twinblades with an inherent aux effect to use that glorious multi-hit on. but hey, at least you can use things like bloodflame blade or greases.

                        • Anonymous

Not really a fan of this in pvp tbh. Its has poor speed and tracking, and twinblade version while marginally easier to hit deals far less damage; the most you will get it two slashes in, as it doesnt combo at all.

                          • Anonymous

Please don't hate me for this but when used on the Nagakiba it should make only a single black wing appear.

                            • Anonymous

Using this with Heavy/Keen Black Steel Twinblades buffed with Orders Blade it shreds now. Hits 8 times and each hit gets full damage from the Orders Blade. Plus it looks cool AF and can dodge ground attacks like stomps.

                              • Anonymous

I really wish you could charge this and do the Great Spear/Siluria version of the attack.

Not only it would be fitting considering all the aspects of the Crucible spells can be charged, it would also make the skill way better, thanks to the added mix-up.

                                • Anonymous

This is VERY effective in PVP when used with plenty of practice and focus on timing. Using it especially on Guts Sword makes for massive damage on a single strike and a larger hit box to the point sometimes opponents will think they side stepped it only to get floored. It also HARD counters Miriam's Vanishing. When they're using the spell, you simply have to press the target button again while you're in the air with your wings and you'll automatically cleave into them. The ability to switch targets as you're in the air is the key making very good in united combat for bait and switching. LIke pretend to aim it at a person you're trading with, only to suddenly shoot at the person behind you fighting your teammate whose nearly dead, and then fire a heal from afar at the floor immediately as their opponent is spralwed.

Looks cool as hell, specially when using it with a twinblade. Sadly, can't yet get it to work, pretty easy to get taken out of it, and there are better gap closers you can use to hit enemies more reliably as well. Still using it for the cool factor, specially with the black twinblade, but could use some buffs, or at least more certainty that you will hit the enemy you are locked on instead of flying pass it (or, depending on the enemy, get taken out of the attack and staggered yourself, lol)

I have a dragon build and want to use this against radahn but he has no openings for this and it makes me mad

                                      • This appears to do some great stance damage when used on non-twin blades. On a colossal sword I managed to stance break Messmer after only two or three uses of this.

                                        • Tested this on messmer fight with various weapons, results varied wildly:
                                          1) twinblade = absolute joke, it misses everything
                                          2) greatsword = not bad, but damage felt low for the price and long cast
                                          3) fireknight greatsword = actually great - hits like a truck, enough hyperarmor to trade into many moves thanks to collosal base poise for hyperarmor

With crucible set on 70 faith, sacred FGKS, holy cracked tear+shard of alexander, scadu 16 it did more than 4K damage per cast on FGKS. While usually poising through almost any messmer attack (except those heavy stabs and slashes he does at end of combo), while also serving as gapcloser when he decides to land far away from you.

Considering how few good ashes collosals get, this is actually goated for collosal swords

Given how many times it hits, might be worth slapping blackflame or bloodflame on the weapon before flying off?

                                            • Anonymous

With a full set, this does about 18% more damage, add shard and you get to around +34% damage. Might not be worth using on its own, but if you're stacking damage buffs, this AoW can receive a lot of them.

                                              • Anonymous

miyagi and the devs are so awesome they made this an ash of war so you cant cosplay as crucible knight, fromsoftware best devs EVER!

                                                • Anonymous

I wanted to make a crucible knight cosplay... but... i can't use it in the actual crucible weapons... man...

                                                  • Anonymous

looks cool, functions like garbage, you basically miss every time you pull this skill off unless the target is standing still.
kinda silly that an ash that literally gives you wings doesn't make you fly... so like, when a dragon does that roar animation and lifts its head, i ****ing MISS with this ash even though i aim right at it.

make this god damn ash capable of flight and allow me to use it mid air while jumping. wtf, you finally give us this long requested skill and you totally botch its design.
0/10, a charged heavy attack does the same damage, has a higher chance of hitting and comes out faster.

                                                    • Anonymous

The hitboxes on this attack are so bad, you might aswell put on no skill ash of war. I tried using it against Midra and I'm lucky if it hits 2x using the twin blade variation.

                                                      • Anonymous

From some quick testing it does appear that the Crucible Armor set does boost the damage of this skill despite the armor description still saying that it only boosts incantations
