Astrologer Robe is a Chest Armor in Elden Ring. Astrologer Robe is part of the Astrologer Set, and is a Light Weight Chest Armor that boost Physical, Magical defenses and superior Focus Resistance. Chest Armor is worn on the chest slot and provides various types of defensive Stats, as well as changing the appearance of the character while equipped.
Robe fashioned from supple cloth.
Worn by those who look to the cosmos above.
They read fate in the stars, and are said to be heirs of the glintstone sorcerers.
But alas, the night sky no longer cradles fate.

This item says astrologers are heirs of glintstone sorcerers. But the Sword of Night and Flame says the astrologers preceded the sorcerers.

The Vulgar Militia Gauntlets perfectly cover the poof. Simple brown leather covers the wrist doesn’t look ratty.
The Errant Sorcerer robe is similar, less fancy, lighter weight and has short sleeves.

I don't know about other helmets, but if you wear this with the Chain Coif, your astrologer hood will be present - with the coif underneath. Cool detail.

The altered version of the "Eccentric's Hood" is also worn underneath the hood of the robe. Makes for a cool hooded wizard look.
I would absolutely love it if i could get rid of the frills on the sleeves. There are surprisingly few pairs gloves that cover them up and I don't want to wear gauntlets.

I can confirm the hood stays up with Nox Monk Hood (altered), Perfumer Hood, Fingerprint Helmet, and Bloodsoaked Mask. I haven't tried the chain coif mentioned by the other commenter.

I love the Mariner's Astrolabe hanging from the belt, very cool addition!

The hood will be up when wearing no helmet, the bloodsoaked mask, or the fingerprint helmet afaik.

"Even though its stats do not change" is blatantly incorrect. Altering the top lowers all of its defenses marginally while decreasing its weight by 1. Please actually pay attention to the ingame stats before spreading misinformation.
- ORIGINAL vs ALTERED -
Damage Negation:
- Phys: 6.7 / 6.1
- VS Strike: 6.1 / 5.3
- VS Slash: 6.1 / 5.3
- VS Pierce: 6.1 / 5.3
- Magic: 13.5 / 13.3
- Fire: 13.0 / 12.8
- Lightning: 13.3 / 13.0
- Holy: 13.0 / 12.8
Resistance:
- Immunity: 50 / 42
- Robustness: 24 / 21
- Focus: 90 / 75
- Vitality: 76 / 64
- Poise: 5 / 2
Weight: 6.3 / 5.3
As you can see here, there is an extremely obvious change in stats, as the stats of the altered robe is worse than the regular robe in every regard, even if most of the stat losses are very minor. It's not purely cosmetic.
Astrologer's Robe does actually change stats when altered. Edited to acknowledge this fact, as the page previously said otherwise. I saw a comment here the other day about it and mysteriously it's gone now, including what the stat differences are. Oh well.
The Noble's Gloves go really well with this, especially the altered version.
