does this work in the same way as godfrey icon or does it ONLY work with charged r2s and not include charged incantations and skills

This thing straight up SLAPS on fist weapons. Quick charged heavies with great stance damage. I use it on godrick’s sock puppet w/ the stance break physick and don’t think i’ve managed to stance break bosses so often with any other build. tali doesn’t increase stance damage. But charged heavies are very easy to get off on fists (and do high stance dmg relative to their speed) so might as well pump out a little extra dmg with em. Those quick little charged jabs be mollywhoppin dudes. Not to mention sprinkling a little SHORYUKEN in to duck stabs/high swings and respond with the meanest uppercut in the lands between. I’m sure the short spear would be a decent candidate for this tali too. especially if going for a status effect build w/ it. And probably the godskin weapons; stitcher in particular. No, it’s not a ‘one size fits all, amazing and shoehornable into any build’ tali like milliscent’s, Shard of Alex, Godfrey’s, etc. But it does have it’s place and can be used to great effect with the right combination of complimenting features and playstyle. I don’t even really feel gimped trying to make it work, since the charged heavy on grafted dragon comes out so fast it’s usually the optimal strike choice in most given situations. just manual aim so u don’t whiff with fists puny range.

Just to be clear; this boost CHARGED attacks as in holding the R2 button, not CHARING attacks where you're running forward and heavy swinging?

Use with the spiked cracked tear and your favorite colossal weapon, charge that heavy attack and watch their stance melt before you. If your enemy isn’t dead by then

dont be fooled when testing talismans and damage mods. it seems true that enemies take more damage before they aggro or engage you in combat. if you are testing damage values on a mob that isnt aggroed as a baseline then make sure to reset the mob every time you want to test a different damage modifier.

                for example:
                >In the Caelid Tower basement, the Blackflame Monk standing infront of the Godskin Apostle boss takes 307 damage from the initial hit of a charged 'Black Flame' incantation. When it was aggroed first, the charged black flame only dealt 287 damage on hit.

The depiction of the Brave's armor set on this talisman heavily implies that it was cut extremely late into the game's development, oddly. Such a bummer, it would've been peak drip...

                  • Anonymous

It boosts charge attacks, that isn't R2 attacks btw this is talking about ashes of war like charge forth, piercing fang etc because they all charge forward

                    I'm just joking lol

                    • Anonymous

Since I couldn't find any info on it: it doesn't seem to increase stance dmg.

Tried against putrid corpses in the shaded castle, omens in the shunning grounds and the gargoyle right before beast clergyman in Caelid with daggers, hammers, straight swords, curved swords, great hammers, claws, axes and fists, all 1h and 2h.

Not once got an earlier stancebreak, so until somebody with CE wants to confirm, this is the best I've got.

10% is not worth the talisman slot, should be buffed to 15% or 20%. Claw is 15% and jumping attacks are much easier to land it doesn’t make sense.

                        • Anonymous

I wish there were 2 stages of charge in this talisman like a fast charged (~5%) or a fully charged (10%). Would make this talisman way more viable and fun for mix ups.

This really should of been all heavy attacks are boosted by 10%, Compared to talismans like the dagger talisman, curved sword talisman, hammer talisman, spear talisman, claw talisman, arrows sting, shard of alexander, the spell boosting talismans and the winged insignia sword insignia it's affect is far too difficult to benefit from and is not substantial enough to do so. Fully charged heavy attacks are the slowest attacks in the game and the hardest to consistently perform on bosses without taking advantage of big punish windows, ATM the only real use for this is to stack with the roar talisman on the special R2 attacks in PVP which is a real shame for a talisman that by design should really be a staple of heavy weapon builds. It's kinda like how the twinblade talisman is useless since performing a full attack combo for a 20% boost on the last attack isn't worth it when you can use another talisman for a more consistent and overall higher performance result.

If you are considering a new character ive got a good suggestion for a build.
Start as the Hero or Vagabond.
You can get the axe talisman and roar talisman very early on as well as the greataxe with barbaric roar, and the spiked cracked tear + strength tear.
Progress using this gear, then get the highland axe from stormveil.
Then thats basically it. I switched from the greataxe to the crescent moon axe. You could also try to farm for the executioner axe right after beating godrick. Get dex to the mininum and just level strength.
Fully charged roar heavies do crazy damage and have armour.

I get that it increases damage of R2 charged attacks but... Does it affect the R2 attack while running too?

                                • Anonymous

Totally useless for heavy weapons considerin the amount of time needed to charge R2. Strength build needs new offensive talisman in DLC

                                  • Anonymous

This is the melee version of the Godfrey icon; the icon boosts charged skills and spells the axe talisman boost charged melee attacks (R2). Pairs great with the Great club or quick charged attack weapons like daggers when paired with successive hit buffs

On my bonk char i cant decide between these 5 talismans: bull goat, arsenal jar, erdtree favor +2, axe, roar. Those are the five and i got the 5th spot down to either axe or roar, using cold Giant Crusher with Braggarts Roar AoW.

                                      • Anonymous

Does it work with heavy shield charged crash in the left hand, or only right handed weapons?
I mean: if I full-press L2 to bash with the shield will I get the additional 10%?

Bad English:”charge attacks” means you charge as in run and attack - the initial meaning of “charge” forever until batteries maybe. Meanwhile”charged attacks” is closer -even if a lot of attacks as in spells incantations can also be charged( Godfrey’s talisman).

                                          • Cpoying this from the Spiked Cracked Tear Page:

People really ask for this a lot: Charged attack means FULLY charged R2 (heavy) attack. You have to fully charge the heavy attack for it to trigger. Simply pressing heavy attack does NOT grant you the bonus. It does NOT grant the buff to ANY ashes of war that can be charged, not even the ones that have charge in its name, nor does it boost charged spells.
It is SOLELY for fully charged heavy attacks!

                                            • Anonymous

Not amazing in PvP, as far as I can tell, but in PvE this is pretty great. Paired with the crystal tear that also boosts charge attacks, and when two-handing a Heavy-infused weapon, this kills/staggers bosses like nothing else. Every boss has at least one move that leaves them wide open to counterattack. Using those openings wisely, you can pretty reliably stagger even monsters like Godfrey, Radagon, and Malenia, and even when you’re not staggering them you’re dealing 1500+ damage at a time.

                                              • Anonymous

So its depicted a Kaiden Northern-looking warrior with a viking-like helm, as well as the Highland axe, but its description refers to the Barbarian-like Hoarah Loux (Godfrey) and his clan. It's super nitpicky but I think they should have had an icon where the person on the talisman was wearing the Champion set, just as how the Curved-sword talisman has the Warrior's Blue Cloth set.

Does this enhance heavy attacks or literal charge attacks, for example spears you can run and do a kind of charge attack where you thrust the spear forward while running

Pairs very well with the iron cleaver as its charge attack has your character do a massive run up before swinging.

                                                        • Anonymous

It has an interesting niche for PvP. Some weapons' charged heavies are actually useful in this game. Iron Cleaver and Celebrant's Cleaver have a unique R2 that behaves like a strange running attack with surprising range. The Urumi has a unique double strike for it's charged heavy. If enemies roll to avoid the first hit, they risk eating the second hit. Zwei has roll/crouch pokes which can be mixed with heavies and charged heavies for similar looking animations with different timings.

Does this work with the Starscourge Greatsword? I mean is the Gravity strike considered Magic or Lightning?

                                                            • Anonymous

It grants +10% damage when you perform hold strong attacks(or 'charge' attacks, it says 'charge' because you have to hold your buttons to 'charge' your attack).
Warcry ash of war doesn't transform your click strong attacks into hold strong attacks('charge' attacks), you still have to hold button to get damage bonus. This ash of war only changes animations of strong attack(to animations with running forward like with lance aka 'charge attack') with higher basic damage.

In both cases game says 'charge attacks' but in first case it says about attack type how it is described in code somewhere while in second case it says about animation type.

The chest was already opened and empty when I first discovered it. Definitely never been to Mistwood Ruins before that. Already had the Axe Talisman from another place. I don't have and didn't receive Dragoncrest Shield talisman or any other. Tried restarting the game and revisiting the location several times with no luck. I feel robbed :(

                                                                • Anybody tried combining this with War Cry ashes of war? They should increase attack power significantly since all heavy attacks become charge attacks.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Seems to only increase damage if you charge R2 up, if you just tap R2 doesn't increase anything. Not worth imo.

                                                                    • Anonymous

I think what this talisman actually does is increase the damage of special-roar attacks like the greataxes natural weapon arts that modify the strong attack. It is implied in several greataxes description that their charged attack is very destructive: in fact, having this equiped plus the wondrous flask with the correct tear and then using warcry with a greataxe and charging the strong attack will result in an extremelly destructive and stunning hit, and aganist non-poise enemies is not only a secured stun to follow with the next combo attack but also a very high chance the second one breaks the enemy posture to end up with a critical. Ive oneshoted some bosses with this.

                                                                      • Anonymous

So if I use this on Moonlight Greatsword, does this only increase the damage from the actual blade itself, or does the beam get the damage increase too? If it does, this and Godfrey's Icon are going to make that weapon insane.

                                                                        • Anonymous

This increases the damage of your Charged Strong Attacks (Hold R2), it works with all weapons, not just axes.

Interestingly, while it increases the damage against most enemies, it actually reduced damage against Turtles from 333 to 292 with my Grafted Blade Greatsword +2 at 27 strength (2H). Could it be that it changes the damage type? That wouldn't make much sense since both it and axes deal Standard damage, curious.

                                                                          • Anonymous
