Chest Armor Wgt. 17.5

Banished Knight Armor is a Chest Armor in Elden Ring. Banished Knight Armor is part of the Banished Knight Set, and is a Heavyweight armor that boosts superior Robustness Resistance. Banished Knight Armor is an armor piece worn over or around the player's torso to obtain an increase of defense and resistance. It also changes the appearance as well when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.

Thick, full set of armor covering the entire body.
This armor was worn by knights who, whether by misfortune or misdeed, were forced to abandon their homes.

These fierce warriors were each and all accomplished. Perhaps that is why, despite their territorial losses, they were still named knights.

Where to find Banished Knight Armor in Elden Ring

Banished Knight Armor can be found at:

  • Chance to drop from two specific spectral Banished Knights located in Castle Sol that can be seen wearing the unaltered cloaked armor.
  • banished knight unaltered chest location
  • The northern one can be easily farmed by starting from the Castle Sol Rooftop site of grace and running south to the elevator. The Banished Knight can be shot with ranged weapons from here causing it to teleport to the player. The same can be achieved by shooting an arrow through the arrow slit in the grace platform (west side), although the knight doesn't always teleport when shooting him from this spot.
  • The southern one can be reached from the Church of the Eclipse site of grace by exiting through the church to the left, turning right outside, and heading up the ladder to the catwalks. After following the catwalk past the exile soldier and around the small tower, the Banished Knight can be found just past the ladder leading down. It is recommended that the player jump onto the lower roof next to the catwalk and tower, and bait the red-eyed Banished Knight into teleporting onto the small wooden catwalk extension of the roof; then the player can roll or jump to the walkway the Banished Knight was just standing on. The Banished Knight will slowly walk towards the player, then fall to its death onto the ground below, saving the player a good deal of trouble. Then the player walk down the walkway and make their way over to the loot, which will be in a corner, behind a tombstone.

The Banished Knight Armor (Altered) can be found at:

Just obtained my first Unaltered chest piece from the knight dual wielding the greatswords on my 80 ARC character. IMO it was easier than the other knight with the halberd...
But now I can just imagine how painful it will be for the other 6 builds I have to obtain this piece...

      • For Ultimate Drip, get the three grind things

Nobles Slender Sword (0.5% chance at 100 discovery)

Forget the drop rate, why does this game have multiple (Altered) sets that can't be altered at the grace? At least justify it by giving it a different name.

So many wasted opportunities with this mechanic.

          • Anonymous

Guy with this armor set knights greatsword with piercing fang paired with a G9 clone buddy wearing scaled set with dual lance and bloodhound step standing next to a bonfire.
No need to use sleep pots buddy I'm already asleep just looking at you.

            • I wish there was a altered version of this that removes the black cape and retains the red cloth, because the red matches the color of the hood on the Mask of Confidence perfectly, but the black cape doesn't, and it makes it look kind of awkward.

I think my self torture in acquiring an early game iron great sword balanced my karma for this farm. 6th kill from roof top.

By far the best chest piece in the game. I don't care if its weight/poise ratio and defenses might be lower than other chest pieces. It looks really good and fashionable compared to any other chest armor of its weight class. The fact only two enemies in the whole game have a miserable chance of dropping it makes it more special. Cloak is the part I love the most, it pairs really well with Black Hood, which is seemingly made from the same black thick fabric.

A week ago I spent like three hours trying to get this and eventually gave up. Came back to it today and got it literally on the first try, whut...

                    • Anonymous

Gotta love that from will add a cool armor to the game thats only obtainable from like 3 dudes and then make the drop rate like 1%. It wasn't fun in demon souls, it wasn't fun in dark souls, it wasn't fun in bloodborne, it wasn't fun in dark souls 3, it wasn't fun in sekiro and its most certainly not fun in elden ring. Stop it.

Any helmet + This + Beast Champ gauntlets + Bull Goat legs = Peak fashion AND function.
With no helmet, poise is at 69 (tank powerstance attacks), and is at 84 with Bull-Goat helm. I run 75+ poise though (tank 2h r1) which can easily be achieved with something like Carian Knight or Raging Wolf helm.

That being said, I agree with anon below that the drop rate can go **** itself.
I spent 88 hours trying to get this, so let this be a lesson: Use the Beast Champion chestplate. It weighs the same, has the same poise, and has pretty much the same defenses.

First off, **** this drop rate.
Second, this pairs nicely with the Blackflame Monk Hood, looks like it has the same texture.

Third try from halberd knight used castle sol rooftop site of grace and shot arrows thru the slat in wall. Had silver scarab equipped and 30 arcane. The silver pickled fowl foot expired seconds before the killing blow but there it was. Should have bought a lottery ticket instead because I’ll likely never have that kinda luck again.

I tried this at Arcane level 9, with silver pickled fowl foot for a Discovery of 159 - got it in 3 tries, thank you Michael Zaki!!!!

The confessor's hood actually covers the pauldrons and results in a very nice combination with the cape of this chest piece. It has great fashion potential for sure. I have no idea why they made it so you have to go so out of your way to get it though.

Haven't got it yet but after 2 hours yesterday and 3 hours today, i have currently in my chest 27 halberds, 8 gauntlets, 4 Helms and 11 greaves. Wtf is is unluck, btw, i have 241 discovery

Does this tuck in the scarf of the helmet or leave hanging over the shoulder as with the altered version?
Trying to decide whether to farm one..

base arcane and silver fowl foot, 2 hours later I got it. both up the ladder and shooting arrow from rooftop. ouch. but fashion souls is worth

Just did this grind yesterday and got incredibly lucky within 10 or so kills. There’s a wooden platform before the elevator from the Castle Sol Rooftop, I shot my arrows there. The key to consistently getting the knights to teleport is to ensure there’s enough space around you to allow them to phase in. They’ll even phase in on the bricks that form the wall if you are completely on one end. I use that spot to make them spawn because there’s a high chance they fall that small height to the ground where you want to fight them, as they’ll have a landing recovery animation to allow you to punish them for easier kills. Good luck Tarnished.

Took me about 30 attempts (1-1.5 hours) to farm both of them with 10 base arcane + silver mask and Marika's Soreseal talisman.

Start on the Castle Sol Rooftop site of grace, drop down from the stairs, ignore the elevator, drop again from the wall and you're near the halberd knight. Use Silver Pickled fowl foot here, kill him. Run back towards the church with another site of grace ignoring the spawning altered banished knight (ignore him). Run through the church to the ladder, climb on top and run past the guy with the crossbow and you're near the second knight. You should have plenty of time to kill both of them with single use of Silver Pickled fowl foot. Whole run takes less than 3 minutes. Rinse and repeat. Good luck Tarnished

You can aggro the halberd guy (into teleporting onto you) from right outside the Church of the Eclipse grace (literally from inside the church itself) by making some kind of very particular crossbow shot (I'm using mouse and keyboard) and being some kind of lucky. I'm still working out the particulars; I've managed to aggro him without even actually landing a shot on him (and I don't think I hit his dogs either, I just somehow made him mad by shooting near enough to him or something.) This could be the best way to farm this item without actually killing Niall, although there's no particular reason to not kill Niall...

Such a shame it only took me a good 45 minutes poise breaking this dude jfc

Wish I could take the cape off this one. The "altered" version loses the cape but also all the cool bits and pieces of the unaltered variant.

Safe to say this is the worst farm in the game. About as rare as the fire monks flameblade but on a much more difficult enemy.

Out of the 2 guys that have this armor both can heal multiple times using incantations and both are a pretty decent way away from any site of grace.

Tried farming both of these guys and the halberd guy is by far the easier one as he doesnt literally teleport behind you but even he has his issues as depending on where you fight him and what move he does he has a tendancy of falling off the bridge into 2 other soldiers. not to mention he has 2 wolfs near him but luckily neither are too aggro and one doesnt even really make an attempt to hit you

Overall this armor set is really cool but i dont see why you cant just alter the altered verison into this one as the alteration system was literally made for things like this

Make a game of the farm agony. I had a lot of fun trying a bunch of weapons I don’t normally use but upgraded to +9 or +24 anyway. Remember your silver scarab talisman and silver tear mask. :) Took me 20 or so tries. Your experience may vary. I’ve had other farms in this game take hours. Make a game of it!

Farming the halberd knight from the boss lair platform is definitely the best method for this. It's faster, and more controlled than running to the dual sword knight around the church.

As a side note, this grind can be absolutely abhorrent, even with higher arcane. They really should have just let you un-alter the version that drops from other banished knights.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  Ugh.

                                                                  • Anonymous

The AI gets caught in this edgy slow walk/backpedaling loop and the knight will never teleport.

Humble brag though I finally got this damn armor after about an hour and a half. Stupidest farm I've done yet. Even worse than noble's slender sword.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

Just make sure you shoot the axe banished knight from the elevator near the commander's grace. It makes it much quicker than anything else I believe.

                                                                        • Anonymous

I swear its like he is swatting my hand just as soon as he vanishes after I beat him. The guy who makes those Dark Souls parodies on Youtube could make a video about it. If it were not thanks to this site I would never have believed you could get his armor. I just want that equipment so bad. My last resort is using a larval spec change.

                                                                          • Anonymous

But I'm not sure how many times I had to kill the knight nearest Niall's boss area before I got it. I had 'silver scarab' equipped and I used ten silver feet in total. The 'stone of gurranq' incantation and the 'waves of darkness' AoW on a zweihander made for a fast and relatively easy kill.
Stone of gurranq can interrupt and knock him out of his attacks including storm assault. It also staggers him just long enough to get close and use the AoW with all three waves slamming down hitting him. The optional follow up heavy attack did very good damage in its own right. If you have time to cast blackflame blade after hitting him with an arrow and before he can land any hits on you the waves will take on the DoT characteristics of blackflame for even more damage.

                                                                              • Anonymous

I remember my first time in castle sol thinking I was clever hitting him with fire arrows from the rooftop opposite until it teleported behind me. I like this set but not enough to farm those knights at sol.

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Can confirm, strat described above still works as of 1.07 (shooting arrow from little platform on the left from boss entrance). My tip would be - before you shoot him, stand on the right-most part of that platform, because it's those 2 meters closer, but it seems his "teleports behind you" ability needs those 2m closer to pop every time. Also, if you're struggling with fighting him - Flame of Redmanes spam works wonders.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

It’s something that has both an altered and unaltered form, but can’t be changed by Boc. And has a very low drop rate from only two enemies in the entire game?? Not sure what the f*ck they were thinking with this one.

                                                                                                    • If you're having trouble killing these guys, Agro them from a far and use the Blasphemous Blade WA as soon as they pull their sword, it will guarantee a hit after they teleport and it will stun them for you to have a 2nd hit.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Why would you block some chest piece until the end of the game, and still make the player grind for it?

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

I finally got it first try by switching to the further banished knight. Highly suggest just farming the other knight if the rampart one isn’t working for you.

                                                                                                          • So the dual greatsword knight always teleports behind you, right? If you get on top of the nearby wall, throw a knife at him, and then turn around so your back is facing a drop, he'll teleport behind you and fall to his death.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

I found Loretta’s Mastery to be very useful due to its extremely long range, you shoot the knight when standing on the wall outside the boss room and he will teleport to you so you don’t have to go all the way down to get the kill. Thanks god these knights know how teleportation works.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                                  • Those of you recommending the elevator shooting strategy: Here's a quicker and a lot more efficient way. Just go straight to the side of the rooftop (right besides the SoG), and shoot him through the wall. Succes rate really high if you jump right after you shot him. I did it with a large helm just to make sure - but the farming was super smooth.

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

I'm not sure if anything has changed since then, but after beating the commander I can confirm the halberd wielder will not teleport to you. I tried various kill holes, weapon methods and the likes to no luck, and the knight will instead aggro onto you and approach slowly to where you're attacking from. Sometimes he will teleport but he seems to bug out and go no where, moving down the stairs towards the elevator and standing on the wall gave me the same results. I don't think he can even get up towards you because several times he's been directly below me and his teleport never brings him behind me despite the large amounts of room. All of this was done in the recent 1.05 patch on the XB using bows, crossbows, magic, etc etc.

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous
