Battle Hammer is a Great Hammer (Warhammer) in Elden Ring. The Battle Hammer scales primarily with Dexterity and Strength and is a good Weapon for high strength players who can hold this weapon's weight. The weight is worth the ability to crush enemy armor, sometimes along with the enemy itself.

Large iron great hammer designed for gladiatorial combat. Used by duelists who were exiled from the colosseum.

Weighty enough to crush armor and its wearer alike.

The Battle Hammer weapon can be found at the following location:

Dropped randomly by hammer-wielding Duelists near the colosseum in Leyndell Royal Capital, accessible from the West Capital Rampart site of grace.
Prior to patch 1.03 was dropped by Grave Warden Duelist in Murkwater Catacombs. [Elden Ring Interactive Map Link]
Can't be farmed after beating Maliketh, The Black Blade as the Duelists vanish afterwards.

NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, Great Hammers poise damage has been reduced.
NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below. Additionally, speed, range, recovery time and guard counter speed of Great Hammers weapons has increased.

  judging by the fact that when you wield this thing 2-handed, your second hand is literally holding onto nothing bc the handle is so short (if you dont believe me check it in game), this thing MUST be wielded 1 handed or power-stanced.

  I've got 10 arc, used silver scarab and silver food in Leyndel and 1st hammer droped on 3rd try and second hammer on 12th try, in between that I got 3 duelist masks, 6 upper body armor and 1 boots. Looks good but sucks as an armor..

  Pretty sure the guy that drops this item is bugged. I farmed him and the axe version in front of him for 3 hours and I got a total of 81 drops (247 disc). Axe version was responsible for 67 drops while the hammer version only dropped 14. Didn't use any silver fowl feet on either of them.

  i don't see the negativity around this weapon, atleast other than moving its drop location to close-to endgame (which is super lame.); Used this weapon for most of my playthrough, still love it more than anything. Looks amazing, has a strong paladin look which is fun for faith builds. Hits hard. Jumps attacks are great. Love it!

  I'll save y'all the heartbreak and tell you that it's really not worth farming. The brick hammer outclasses it in both damage and *range* which is really saying something, because that thing is short... It had niche use at launch when it dropped in Limgrave as baby's first great hammer; but since they Murked that up, it's meh by the time you get it.

  I absolutely fn loath how they did normal drops. The gross laziness and incompetence that it takes to make a system this horrible is extraordinary, but what is truly singular here is the arrogance and obstinance that it takes to think they know best and leave it in the game. I bet they could get it all gussied up in under 10 minutes.

  I have been grinding this literally all day.
  
  Using Silver Scarab, Silver Tear Mask, Marika's Scarseal and Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot.
  
  He has not dropped the Battle Hammer once.
  
  Do you know how many Duelist Greataxes I've gotten?
  
  Enough to give everyone who hasn't gotten one yet two.
  
  There is no way that it's base drop rate is 4% at 100% Discovery.
  
  My Discovery is 266.0.
  
  If both the Axe and Hammer have the same drop rate I should be getting just as many Hammers as Axes.
  
  I personally feel like the drop rate for the Hammer is less than the Axe.
  
  Either the drop rate is bugged for the Hammer being too low or it's too high for the Axe.
  
  Please fix or give us more items for raising discovery.

  I can confirm that it drops from the dual wielding duelist at the coliseum. Idk if this is coincidence or not but I was farming them for about 30 min at 230 Discovery. I then put on the Silver Tear Mask and got it after the 2nd kill.

  When the game launched, this actually dropped for me for the one time Murkwater Catacombs boss. Not sure if that was patched out, or the low drop rate means its unlikely youll get it from the boss...
  
  But its worth a try i guess.

  So exactly how did FightinCowboy manage to get the Battle Hammer after finishing the Murkwood Cave? It shows him getting it on one of his Let's Plays. Was this changed during 1.03? Or did he find it and get to keep it from the Network Test?

  Dualist weapons could have been so goddamn cool, they really could have been, with those awesome chain spinning attacks, they really made me fight that guy over and over, watching him do those sick ass moves, and then hit me with the ultimate blue-ball when i got it and saw there were no chains. looked it up for the axe and nope, no chains there either. such a missed opportunity imo, tragic

  Highly highly recommend farming both this and the Duelist Greataxe at the same time. I didn’t realize when I farmed for my greataxe that this way just a few steps beyond it, and now my game is taunting me by giving me even more greataxes since you have to kill a duelist to get to this one at the entrance to the coliseum.

  Listen, I know farming can be rough,, this especially. But if you ever want to try something weird, get multiple of the same weapon, and put different ashes on them. Menu swap between them. Boom, even if it's only two at first, since there is no animation, you now have an ultimate warrior build with how ever many skills you can keep track of. Funny in pvp, you want to cover your swaps if you are two handing though, just take out a shield or throw out a rock sling. Just plain old fun in pve. No NG+ or trading involved, just you and your sanity.

  The drop rate is most definitely NOT 4% for this item. I'm at FOURTEEN greataxes farming the 2 duelists outside colosseum and not a single Battle Hammer yet. They list both greataxe and battle hammer as 4%

  Been farming the pair near the Coliseum in Leyndell for a while and I've got 10 duelist helms, 6 gravekeeper cloaks, 4 duelist greaves, 4 duelist greataxes, and not a single f*cking battlehammer.

  Incredibly stupid decision to remove an early guaranteed Great Hammer drop. All they had to do was make it so defeating the boss of Murkwater Catacombs dropped both this weapon and the Spirit Ashes, but now no one will use it because you can only get it by entertaining the stupidly low drop rate on enemies that are only found after defeating 2 bosses. Enormous L for game design.

  For those looking to farm this, I would recommend waiting until you can get a large chunk of Discovery because the walk is pretty long, they are a relatively rare drop, and there's only one enemy that drops them. I highly recommend the Ash of War "Giant Hunt" as it absolutely demolishes humanoids. I like to chain Giant Hunt -> Charged R2 during ground recovery -> repeat.
  
  Start at West Capital Rampart, turn right and run past the Envoys and avoid the staircase by hugging the right side. They will ignore you. Continue to run forward and right up the hill until you hit a stand of trees and bushes on the left side of the path. Switch to stealth and move to the left side of the path in the trees, but you can continue to run in stealth mode from here. The axe-wielding duelist should be facing away from you as you approach (this is pretty forgiving, but make sure to run the entire time to maintain the pathing timing) and you can sneak past on his left side clambering over the rock pile with no problems. Finally, backstab the hammer-wielding duelist and dispatch him as you please.

  I used this early game and it wrecked pretty much everything, as of now i believe it's been removed from the boss loot table that dropped it before, so i was lucky enough to be able to use it beforehand and it's a very good option for people who like the warhammer moveset. As it's been moved to late game, you can pair it with the Rotten version and place bleed infusion on them with Bloodhund's step ash of war for decent dual wield damage option.
  
  However you can still pick up a decent hammer at stormveil castle, that being the brick hammer as an option. And a bit later on, the Great stars hammer if you wish to powerstance before late game.

  Hate that they took this from a guaranteed one-of with the potential for more down the line to a rare random drop 60% of the way through the game. That's one less fun (and GOOD) weapon easily accessible for mediocre spirit ashes with such a high FP cost to use in the first place.

  Is there a point to using this over the Brick Hammer? I understand that the base damage is better early but is it worth taking it over the better scaling?
  I'm making a faith build with a warhammer akin to a Warhammer Fantasy priest, and I like this weapon's look. But statwise it looks like a downgrade AND I now have to progress a decent amount more to get it.

  They continue to punish melee in the game changing the Hammer to ashes and moving it to mid/late game area as MANY people will not have enough into mind to use most of the summons in this game until they get the crystal tear that ignores FP usage.

  As of Patch 1.03 the Battle Hammer no longer drops from the Duelist in Murkwater. Drops Banished Knight Engvall instead.
  Possible drop might be from the duelist near the Leyndell Colosseum, but needs to be farmed to find out

  I killed the Duelist at the arena in Lleyndel 20 times and still no drop... is the drop rate really this abysmal now? is this really the only place to get this weapon current patch?

  yep doesnt drop from duelist in murkwater anymore, it only drops from the duelists walking around royal capital. guess it was too op lol? luckily i grabbed it on my fresh strength character last night before the patch. Really enjoy this early game

  1 just dropped from second gladiator standing still in front of lleyndel arena patch 1.03

  The Grave Warden Duelist didn't drop it for me. Instead I got Banished Knight Engvall's ashes. Did version 1.03 change this drop?

  Playing on patch 1.03. Managed to find one of these killing the duelist with the dual hammers outside the arena in the southeast of the Capital. Not a guaranteed drop though, I had to kill it a couple times.
