3rd best albinauric farming weapon behind Mohg's sacred spear and sacred relic sword. This weapon goes hard in the paint.

Ugh. Why not make it a Strength/Faith weapon, instead of a Quality weapon with Strength/Dexterity at C? I did a Beast Incantation build with Clawmark Seal, what the hell am I supposed to do with this? Better to use a Great Club at this point in 1.09?

Since Patch 1.09, uncharged 1HR2 true combos into an R1. This is amazing, and quickly becoming well-known.
Here's the question: can a 1HR2 combo into Pulley Crossbow shots?
- Anonymous
tiny bit infuriating that this scales better with Dex than with Faith
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
With the recent buff to Great Hammers, this thing is super busted. R2 into R1 is a true combo and the Ash of War does a ton of damage, too.
- Anonymous
The recent buffs to the Greathammer class have stealth-buffed this to being the best Greathammer in PvP. For this weapon and this weapon only in its class, an uncharged heavy true combos into a light attack. It looks so slow and will seem like people just aren't rolling the second attack, but it genuinely is just barely fast enough by like one frame to stunlock into the second attack. Also the running light attack goes hard.

When I set out to make a Bestial Order build, I knew I was gonna end up using this hammer. Purely because of the looks, I was expecting my Great Mace to outperform it.
This thing has a tendency to one shot players in the Colosseum, and I'm at 150 with the build. It's absurdly strong, the stagger is unreal, and the poise on the art is so strong I can wear the Goldmask rags with the aristocrat headband and STILL hyper armour through a massive litany of bosses' attacks to get a poisebreak.
As for the Holy resistance issue late-game, two things: one, I don't think the Art actually does any Holy Damage, it's seems to be converted to strike. Two, the Holy damage resistance really only hurts weapons that are either significantly or entirely Holy damage. This is neither of those, so swing away Merrill.
- Anonymous
A very underrated weapon, don't listen to these fextralife peasants.
Even tho it deals holy damage, that is still just a decent extra for it.
Good damage, good ash of war, decent scalling and is a strike weapon, with a good build this thing can slam everything.
- Anonymous
People complain about holy damage while just ignoring it’s a big heckin hammer that does big strike and poise damage. Who cares that half the bosses have some holy resist when you’re staggering things left and right?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Nothing matters - just the fact that it deals Holy damage, So its Completely useless. Avoid at all cost. No idea why the developers went and basically made half of the items in the game literally unusable by slapping Holy on them. At this point PLEASE remove the holy damage time and make all relevant items and spells deal Physical or Magical instead. Why would you ever make a game and make half of the items unusable ? Like... what???? Id get more damage having do weapons and punching than with Holy weapons.
- Anonymous
We all know how to make this weapon truly shine: remove holy damage while keeping it's stats scaling and ar (maybe buff the ar a little bit though with it being on shorter side in great hammer class and having same attack speed).
Lore accurate with Gurrang giving out pure physical stuff, Serosh being Godfrey reagent and both doing pure physical damage, while still being useful against those that live in death (skeletons, death birds and ghost knights having low strike defense) and not being irrelevant in late game with everything having insane holy defense...
- Anonymous
A little correction. This page states "This upgrade CAN be enchanted with Magic or boosted with Consumables.", however, it actually can't. I just thought i'd say something
- Anonymous
I put this in the right hand, a bloody great stars in the left, put on the claw talisman and run around bonking enemies on the jump. The AOW is good crowd control, and the dual bonk of the clubs is enough to activate any talisman that increases attack strength on successive hits too. Fun way to play, cool move set animation.
- Anonymous
Maybe it's the holy shrouded cracked tear doing all the heavy lifting, but this thing chunks people when 2 handed at 54 strength 15 dex and 32 faith. Strongly recommend unlocking to manually aim the regal beastclaw art
- Anonymous
the incants all got buffed but the hammer still have C dex scaling?
- Anonymous
Raw dmg and (flame of the rEdManeS) isn't everything.. semi fast for it's hyper armor you can 180 spin mid fast and covers a lot of quick when you bring the hammer down.... Stop only looking at stat spreads.. to much whining
my dex faith build loves to throw this in the face of unaware invaders.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I love this weapon, but unfortunately it suffers from poor balancing. While awesome looking, the L2 is completely outclassed by flame of the redmanes in terms of speed, FP cost efficiency and posture damage.
- Anonymous
Weapons like this are what makes running quality + faith worth it. Devourer's scepeter may beat it out in raw damage, but the Beastclaw's ash is far superior.
- Anonymous
Since the AoW hits like 6 times, rotten winged sword would theoretically make it do insane damage. Ima test it.
- Anonymous
This thing needs better strength or faith scaling. I put in too much work for this. Also, since the AoW has like 6 hit boxes, would rotten winged sword work for it?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I don't get Fromsoft on some of their scaling decisions. If you focus str/dex, weapon skill will do terrible damage, if you focus faith your hits won't do enough damage. The same problem goes for Zamor Curved Sword.
- Anonymous
Maybe im just an ******* but all the weapons are good if you know how to use them there are lots of aoftcaps but **** any variation can be gpod with the right usage
- Anonymous
honestly an underrated weapon. dex scaling seems awkward at first but it fits in perfectly with incantation builds. triple scaling + split damage makes this thing hit really hard + its ash of war is huge and has some of the best hyperarmor in the game.
- Anonymous
I don’t understand why people are crying so much about this weapon like half of “str/fai”weapons scale better with dex than fai
Actually a godly weapon, I expected it to be bad from the comments here. It attacks extremely fast when held with two hands, and even one-handed if you use Bestial Sling the followup attack from the greathammer comes out almost instantly. Weapon skill hits high and wrecks poise at a reasonable FP cost; All you gotta do is learn to free aim it.
If you get 45 Str and 45 Fai, Beastclaw seal is softcapped, and coincidentally that also sets you up pretty well to use this hammer without worrying about the otherwise weird stat requirements. Throw on Dex as needed to speed up spellcasting and get some extra AR as you see fit and you're good to go.
- Anonymous
45 fth, 30 str, 14 dex and it hits pretty hard in pvp. So the quality scaling isn’t an issue. It does only 50 or so less AR than my sacred great mace but is mostly physical damage as opposed to my great mace. When someone uses holy fortification i switch to this for the physical. The ash has really strong hyper armor and catches people a lot. Free aims really confuse people.
- Anonymous
Classic Elden Ring, can't put a skill on it, can't buff it, what's the point...
- Anonymous
My advice: if you want to use it, use it. Anything can be viable for pve, and even pvp if you don't care about absolutely min/max-ing your character
- Anonymous
I only just got this but in general I don't like weapons with unique skills that are locked to them, I prefer to be able to buff with grease or incantations.

You have to have a plan for this hammer aside from just raw damage or standalone weapon art, however it is not as bad as made out to be. My biggest issue is the split damage type everything beastial is pure physical yet this hammer has holy damage.
In PVP I like to have a second hammer with Golden Land, and when people run from the golden land darts I flip to this weapon and throw its weapon art at them. It often catches them at a pretty decent range for decent damage, and will often clip even a little past the point where it seems like the claw projectiles disappears. Also the attack has good hyper armor so you can throw it down for a trade and if done at close range you will win that trade almost all the time. Often pvp opponents will think they can heal at a distance that is right at the tip of this weapon art's range, so often an easy way to punish healing.
Unlike most weapons though for this weapon to be useful you have to really think about how you are using it, otherwise you will feel underwhelmed by it. If you want weapons that require no thinking, they make those too but this isn't one of those.
- Anonymous
Despite needing a lot of stat investment (I did 60/60/30) and still being weaker than the devourer's scepter (which has very similar scaling), it's still a fantastic weapon against undead bosses given that they're very weak to holy and strike damage. Saved me from going insane with the endgame death rite birds
- Anonymous
Why on earth is this not a str/faith weapon primarily? The whole point of the beast seal was to propel you towards a paladin build with bestial incantations. This would have been perfect
- Anonymous
So, trying this out, several things came to my mind:
1) Why does this do Holy damage? Literally all the Beast incantations deal Physical only. As well as the Beast Dagger being only Physical. Not only that, but the Erdsteel Dagger shows that we can have a pure physical weapon that has Fth scaling.
2) Why's this a Quality weapon? Beastclaw Seal is Str + Fth. Cinquedea is a Str dagger. This weapon should be C/D/C at least.
3) Why is this thing slower to swing 1h than 2h? Yes, that's the generic Greathammer moveset, but for a weapon that is likely being used alongside Beast incants you'd think it'd be more 1h focused.
4) Beast incant modifier would be nice so it can be comparable to Cinquedea.
- Anonymous
The only thing this weapon really needs is the same bestial incantation buff as cinquedea. It doesn't seem like that op a buff, and more build flexibility is fun. The current scaling works well for quality faith builds.
The dex scaling does feel weird, but it makes sense when you compare it to other faith uniques. There are plenty of strength/faith weapons, so having a usable quality/faith weapon is good for variety.
What brainlet just adds random garbage to these pages. Suggestions on rebalancing is not helpful at all ffs.
- Anonymous
This thing has to change that Dex scaling to nothing and just move the C scaling to Faith, that FP cost should be down to like 12 or 10 and why doesnt this weapon buff Bestial Incants by the same amount that Cinquedea does, this thing or Cinquedea should be either of your choices if you want to pair the seal.
- Anonymous
- Increase Faith scaling
- Decrease Dex scaling (Gurranq's whole deal is that he mostly gives stuff that are for Str/Fth so I think that makes more sense)
- Holy damage doesn't make sense because all of the bestial incantations deal physical damage so get rid of it
- Regal Beastclaw on itself is fine but I think something like that one move Maliketh does where he lifts rocks from the ground around him and slams them would be neat
- Anonymous
Wondering how it performs against the Deathbirds since they take 40% more damage from both holy damage and strike. Might be good in this specific situation.
- Anonymous
This + the golden beast crest shield and you got a "Legacy of serosh" both lore and elden bling compliant
- Anonymous
i love getting all 9 death roots turning them in he agros on me so im like ok im a kill you he gives me some dialog idk wtf he means so i kill him and i dont get the other rewards so ****ing dumb
- Anonymous
You'd think this weapon is the perfect pair for the Claw sacred seal, but not only it has a miserable C strength, C dexterity for some reason ??? (even though it only has a pathetic 10 dex requirement) and a terrible D on faith (which would be fine if the ash of war didn't scale exclusively with faith)... The 10% bonus on beastial incantations was given to a random strength scaling dagger instead of the BEASTCLAW HAMMER. Why?
- Anonymous
this weapons is complete ass. The skill deals really low damage, takes too long and it travels too little.
- Anonymous
Great Stars outclasses this in every way. More damage, better scaling, and pick your pick AoW, not to mention you get it from a caravan in Altus Plateau. This requires the whole death root quest line and getting to Mountain Top of the Giants. Effort to Reward on this one is an F.
- Anonymous
Sorry people but if you want to go beastial incantations build Blasphemous Blade is far superior.
- Anonymous
I have a theory, ao blaidd get his royal sword, a gift from the family he belongs to with frost shenanigans. But it also has split scaling with int dex and strength, so my theory comes towards that all baleful shadows have this, exept for maliketh the killing machine. Now this might just be a simble, or mor a toy for seroth of godfrey, and that the weapon is not what gives these creatures strength, they just have the stats and magic to back it up while their weapons are garnish, or at the very least thats what it was for seroth leaving is weapon with gurranc to fight with his claws like his master godfrey as hourah loux, where the true challenge comes up from his brutish strength, speed, and clever moves. So basically its just a big metal stick with a flavored weapon art that they swing around for looks. idk if this is true or not just a theory, a GAME theory, a ****TY theory, a theory that will either take advantage of cunningham's law [look it up] or will be given a neato with no resounding evidence to the contrary. I for one love this thing! it's not competitive but oh boy it sooth my unga bunga brain, the weapon art is fun, but it always just feels slightly too short of hitting like its regular attacks. I was discouraged by this comment section but it does have some great combos and smooth weapon. Though the design is a bland golden pointy sand hammer.
- Anonymous
I will say on a 50/50 STR/FTH character with 22 dex this thing isn't terrible,it is bad,but not terrible.I would give it a 6/10 and if the STR went up to B and FTH went up to C it would deffinetly be at least 9/10
- Anonymous
Just to counter some other opinions, but this is my favourite weapon in the game. AoW is effective in both PvP and over. Good for trading hits due to the poise it grants. Having said this, scaling in STR should be C.
- Anonymous
One of the most disappointing weapons in the game. Late game quest reward, from a STR/FTH quest line, but has bad scaling (C DEX???) and the locked Ash of War is... basically a slightly upgraded version of an incantation you already got earlier in the quest line! But it's actually a downgrade because according to testing, the AoW scales PURELY with Faith. It also makes no sense that it randomly deals split Phys/Holy damage when the unique trait of the bestial incantations is that they do pure physical damage. This weapon needs a total redesign, should do pure physical damage, have C/D/C STR/DEX/FTH (or even better, higher STR/FTH scaling and NO DEX scaling) and have an AoW that actually does something interesting. Ideally would be something the beast build doesn't otherwise have access to, like maybe a roar attack that adds a self buff and/or enemy debuff.
- Anonymous
Sorry Beastclaw, i tried to love you and all the hype from the other incantations made me wait for you, but you just where too underwhelming.
Hoping for this to change into having a C on Fth instead of Dex, or at least have an A on Str
- Anonymous
Just made it to+9 not that garbage but it is too weak. 50/50 faith still outmatched against inseperable sword +9 mid game. Weapon set feels really satisfying but numbers tells the opposite. I am not a number guy but i don’t want to waste more time against a boss while i can do more damage with other weapons. You should ask yourselves that if want to fight pretty or you want to win the fight.
Needs urgent rework
- Anonymous
I like how DEX gets a better scaling than FTH on a weapon that's supposedly meant for a STR/ FTH build. The entire Beast archetype seems to center around STR/ FTH as the Clawmark Seal requires it in order to be effective and the Beast incantations work best with the seal. But then you get this hammer as one of the following rewards alongside them and it's....not even compatible??? This is more of a quality weapon than anything, which doesn't mesh very well in a Beast build. Literally any other hammer outclasses this in raw damage if you try to use this on a proper STR/ FTH allocation.
- Anonymous
I understand the hate this weapon gets for the poor scaling (especially faith), however it still really solid. Its has a fast moveset for a great hammer and the wa hits like a truck and poise break a ton of enemies after 2-3 attacks
- Anonymous
It looks cool and thematic for my Beast Champion character but what tarnation is up with that derpy, DERPY scaling? If it was B/B strength/faith it would have been perfect.
This weapon looks cool and is fun but sadly lacks stats. It uses dex despite looking lime it should use strength, and its damage is outclassed a lot by the long envoy horn which also has holy and arguably a better weapon art.
Still it's cool, and usable, but it really should have had more strength scaling or at least bleed becuase of the claws

at NG+2 with 81 dex, 75 faith, and 58 str this weapon is surprisingly effective. Does slightly less than devourer’s scepter but it makes up for it w/ it’s ash of war hyper armor & dmg. Powerstancing it with devourers also feels pretty strong and satisfying too.
- Anonymous
Just got this weapon, is my first time playing the game, I love the Beast Encants so far, and I was so hyped for the reward of the 7th Death Root, even Gurranq promises something cool, but is just a hammer, not one with unique R1s or R2, or sinergy with Beast Encants.
I really don't mind the scaling, and I'm fine with the damage, but is just a hammer.
The ash of war does good damage, has good hyper amor, but again, is something I already have a spell, nothing new

How to make this weapon good and make sense:
Add Bleed, remove the Dex scaling, and then bump the Str scaling to at least a B at +7 and the Fth scaling to C at +9. Split damage weapons need more scaling to match the AR of pure physical weapons and Beast builds prioritize Str, not Fth so the holy damage won't ever be good on a build that would use this so it needs at least a B scaling and Bleed to compete. If no Bleed than A scaling. Because look ig I'm to give up the S Str scaling on the Heavy Brick Hammer I get in Stormveil Castle, I better at least be getting some decent perks besides a unique roll attack and a mediocre WA that you can just shove into a memory slot anyway if you really want it. As it is right now, this weapon is completely worthless.

The best thing about this hammer is the lore. It’s so cool yet it’s so weak. C/C/D scaling at +10 cmonbruh

All these cavemen complaining that agreathammer has some dex scaling...you all go 99 strength and have 1 intelligence in real life.
- Anonymous
with 45 Strength+Faith and 40 Dex, this hammer has a two-handed AR of 793 {284 base physical damage + 264 str/dex scaling physical damage + 183 base holy damage + 60 faith scaling holy damage}. A direct hit with the weapon-art is doing around 1300 damage on the NG+ omen ogre things in the capital sewers.
I'm fielding this on my bestial character--as a secondary/backup weapon--mainly for times when the cinquedea dagger's range becomes an issue (like on horseback, or fighting erdtree avatars.) Combined with stones of gurranq incantation, I'm staggering big enemies insanely quickly. Also, the weapon-art has good hyper-armor, making it difficult for enemies to interrupt.
Are there better/more efficient weapons for this purpose? Yeah. Could/should it be buffed? Idk maybe. But it's enough for me. It suits my needs, and more importantly the theme of my build.

- Anonymous
Wow. Was excited to finally get this, but compared to other Str/Faith weapons this falls short in dmg by far.. guess I'll have to find a different strike weapon for a backup to Blasphemous Blade.
- Anonymous
seems to have a unique R1 after rolling that comes out really fast, has worked well for me in pvp
- Anonymous
Don't be a sweaty tryhard, if you like it then use it. It's not the best op meta weapon but it gets the job done
- Anonymous
I see a lot of people complaining about it's scaling. It's scaling is more for melee oriented faith builds. It's holy damage is chunky without as much faith scaling for extra padding. Scaling is important but it's not everything. So if you're running a quality faith build it's an excellent choice.
- Anonymous
Sadly. This weapon is pretty bad.
Garbage scaling. Bad enough it's got c in str and d in faith, but the only people who would even care about it are people who use beast incantations..
Which scale with str/faith if you use the seal.
Should change it to no dex / dex scaling, b str and b faith (like the seal)
Then it would be useful

I was honestly hoping this weapon would have an additional synergy with Bestial Incants like the Cinquedea maybe add % dmg on bestial incants but nah, its just a great hammer that has a bestial skill built in it. This would've been a good alternative weapon from Cinquedea if it rewarded a bit more damage to incants.
Dunno what's up with Ash of War. Sometimes it'll deal 800+ damage, other times 60. The only instances of that happening to me is in pvp, though.

I got this weapon last night and gave it a try and I've really been enjoying it. I've been playing a Paladin type build and have been using the Treespear most of my playthrough. Between that weapon, and wanting to use greatshields my stats were kind of in the perfect place to use this. The spear is good but it has it's limitations and this fills in as a companion weapon nicely.
- Anonymous
This weapon is good wtf is everyone taking about. Lmfao weapons aren't bad because they don't do bleed or frost
- Anonymous
Weapon is honestly hot garbage, do not waste your time with this one. Even at +10 the scaling is awful, and there are far better ashes of war for doing AoE. Skip this one.
- Anonymous
Does not destroy/Turn Skulleton enemies although it uses Holy damage typing. Not all that important, as if it needed more debuff related notes.
Then again, what's the point, since any weapon can defeat the undead. Lame mechanic.

Theres a str scaling beast dagger that improves those incantations. it might be better for people who want to be more of a beast caster. You can find it behind the npc's building but it takes parkour on your horse.
- Anonymous
jeez I was hoping this'd be ER's grant but I guess not, C/C scaling in STR and DEX but not A/C or B/B for STR and FTH? seems like a odd choice esspec since you get it from a """"""holy""""" character that gives faith stuff
- Anonymous
Sad that this weapon does not scale well with Faith... Was going for a beast incantation build but it feels like Faith points are wasted in this weapon. Getting way better results with the Golden Halberd instead.
- Anonymous
Cannot have ashes changed. Cannot be infused or buffed. Default skill is Beast claw, but seems to be a higher scaling than the incantation. Really good holy damage Warhammer, and has a respectable C,C,D scaling in STR, DEX, and FAI

don't forget the 18 Faith requirement.
And D scaling all around on base level.
