Bestial Sling is an Incantation in Elden Ring. Bestial Sling spell quickly throws a buckshot of stones in a cone before the caster. Updated to Patch 1.12.
Incantation taught by Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman.
Swiftly flings a number of sharp rock shards.
This incantation can be cast without delay after performing another action.
It is said that in the time before the Erdtree, stones were the first
weapons of the beasts who had gained intelligence.
Bestial Sling Location in Elden Ring
Bestial Sling can be found in the following location:

Bestial Sanctum: Reward from Gurranq, Beast Clergyman after giving him the second Deathroot. [Elden Ring Map Link]
Elden Ring Bestial Sling Guide
- Bestial Incantation
- Stamina Cost: 19
- Deals 0.87 * Incant Scaling Standard physical damage
- This incantation has a considerably fast cast time, allowing it to be used alongside player's main hand weapon to flinch low poise enemies at medium range.
- Can be chain-cast with itself as long as the player has enough FP and/or Stamina, although no noticeable cast time reduction will be applied to consecutive casts.
- As a physical damage spell with low FP cost and Cast Time, this incantation can be paired with the Blue Dancer Charm to great effect as an alternative to standard melee weapons
- This incantation is one of the few unusual items affected by the Arrow's Reach Talisman.
Note: As of Patch 1.07:
- Reduced the stone fragment scatter randomness.
- Increased stamina attack power against guarding enemies.
- Reduced between two hits and adjusted the detection so that two hits are always made at close range.
- Decreased poise damage.
Note: As of Patch 1.08, the poise damage of this incantation has been reduced only on PVP.
Note: As of Patch 1.12, the poise damage of this incantation has been reduced again only on PVP.

Definitely one of the incantations in fromsoft history. ?/10 work by Michael wazowski
It can deal two hits against very large enemies at close range, or against medium enemies at point blank. This way, the damage is nice for its fp cost, but otherwise garbage.

use this only when your opponent is 1 hp otherwise its a waste of fp

Intetviewer: how much is bestial sling going to be nerfed?
Fromsoft: Yes
- Anonymous
80 int, 56 faith, +10 golden order seal, unbuffed, 235 damage per cast against ng+1 (second journey) trolls in limgrave, that is just sad

Using a giant orange box with boldened blue letters to explain how damage works, and not even with concrete information/values
That's, certainly a choice
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Decrease poise damage or speed because people can braindead spam it and interrupt any attacks in PvP.
- Anonymous
Ah so you're a star spammer? Allow me to be more annoying with the stalagmite shotgun and the poisoned bloodhound step pike.
- Anonymous
Blue Dancer, dual seals and alternate between casters. Trust me
- Anonymous
At least the damage wasn't nerfed. I'm still gonna use it, no one owns me!
- Anonymous
I theorize the most effective and annoying build would be pure int/fth with beast sling that wins trades against non hyper armor weapons along with star shower, erdtree heal, blessing of the erdtree and most importantly, swift pebble. Actually you could prolly do this as pure faith with faith scaling staff for swift pebble OR EVEN BETTER arcane/fth staff/seal with swift pebble, blue dancer charm for pest threads/beast sling buff and erdtree heal and frenzy spam. Oh and dragon breaths. I just keep thinking about all the times beast sling won a trade against great sword :/ too gross for me to try this build out.

I don't think there should be moves in the game where I have to predict rather than react to and preemptively roll before it is used, tbh. Just my opinion tho.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Use only this with max casting speed to be blocked by every opponent
- Anonymous
Incantation throwing 10 rocks but 2 of them hitting is kind of bad. I think it should be at least 3, 4 is good, 5 is really good. More would be op. Also fp usage is too much, maybe 13-14 is ok, but 19? Sorry, it's really expensive.
- Anonymous
i use this alongside catch flame because it helps me break poise easier with my slower weapons so that I can get more criticals. oftentimes I can run up, catch flame, then critical for big damage once theyre down
- Anonymous
ARROW’S REACH TALISMAN DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS.
This needs slightly more range and less damage drop off at longer ranges to be viable in general PVE combat. I have heard people complain about this in PvP, probably because it is annoying to fight against. But at meta ranges it takes significant stat and talisman allocation to maximize damage. And, will only do good damage at point blank range.
- Anonymous
When the Arrow's Reach Talisman is working on this incatation, does the Arrow's Sting Talisman also work?
- Anonymous
This is sleeper in 1.10. At 54 poise damage, you will almost always stagger on the second sling. People are still conditioned to being able to poise through it, so they just rush in expecting that you won't use it in rapid succession, or that they'll tank it and punish. They're wrong on both, and it can really add up.
This attack CAN be used honestly. It's not much different from fighting someone that is using a whip or sword sorcery. This + black knife + blade blade = simple and effective Maliketh playstyle.
- Anonymous
When somebody uses it as a form of catching up i respect him, when i see a man in full veterans running away and spamming it every 0.1 seconds i feel like casting the placidusax nuke spell.
- Anonymous
This spell is really terrible in PvE. It'd be nice if they buffed it ONLY for PvE. Damage is extremely low, just use Catch Flame instead.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
A narrower spread and maybe a slight range boost would make this useful.
- Anonymous
Fun fact: If you jump off a small incline and cast this in the air, you'll do two in quick succession. You can see it best on stairs.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
So is "This incantation can be cast without delay after performing another action" just a lie?
I thought it'd mean I could attack with a sword and cast it like it was a combo but instead I have to wait for the whole sword slash to finish, recover, then cast the spell.
- Anonymous
In my experience, this thing's just bloody useless. I'm not playing a dedicated Faith build, but I'm still considerably above its casting requirements and using a +12 Clawmark Seal, and even against weak enemies it does damage equivalent to a spray of spitwads. And as for its fabled poise damage, apparently it was nerfed into the ground because I do 10x as much just whacking the enemy with my axe, and that doesn't even cost FP! Sounds like it was gutted like DS2 Miracles...
- Anonymous
My blue dancer build is garbo now. This spell is now on par with golden order incants due to the fact that people wont get stunned or interrupted when hit with it. But unlike golden order incants it doesnt have the saving grace of holy damage. Off to the trash with the rest of the overnerfed beast incants.
- Anonymous
If you jump from a higher plane to a lower plane (even if it is very slight, such as a small curb or stone on the ground) it will be cast twice. This can be helpful in certain boss arenas/out in the overworld.

Ugh, they nerfed the hell out of the poise damage in the latest patch.
That was the best reason to use this spell. I need them to bring it back to what it was for PVE.
It required you to get in close, didn't have the best damage, but in exchange you got really good poise damage.
Please fix, Fromsoft!
Wicked good for farming the sheep south of Stormveil for thin bones. Don't even need to lock on if you're good at aiming and can take em out 2-3 at a time then collect em all up in minutes for approx 30 a run.
- Anonymous
As of 1.07 arrows reach does NOT work with this anymore, significantly hampering it's distance to get full damage.
- Anonymous
It is ridiculous that they decreased the poise damage of this in PvE. How is it fair that I needed 18 hits with Bestial Sling before Mini Mogh got his poise broken, while the same can be done with 2 Flame of the Redmanes AoW? The damage it does is lackluster already, there was no need to gut its poise damage for PvE too, especially on the same patch where they made a divide between PvE and PvP.

i know im being an annoying PoS using this, but damn its so good at shutting down wizards and weapon art spammers
I hate this thing, the only spell that is more powerful is Carian Slicer, and that is still not nearly as annoying as this. You can easily reach nearly instant cast times at higher dex, which can be achieved for free with Azur's Staff and Radagon Icon, throw in block canceling, and the fact that this thing does 100 poise damage, and you can out prioritize and interrupt everything your opponent throws at you. The best counter is shields, which are even more annoying, and being forced to turtle up and wait for them to run out of FP, or even worse, shield poke. If this ever gets touched, it needs a serious nerf to the higher end casting speed and a massive reduction to the poise damage.
- Anonymous
sometimes you can shoot it twice consecutively by casting right before you land from a jump
- Anonymous
It can also be used while jumping/falling. Great for catching enemies who like to roll or back step away from your jumping attacks.
- Anonymous
This spell is good, when someone comes to close to me when I am using incantations it makes them go away! It is a life saver
- Anonymous
Just buy a %100 physical shield and you can make this so useless it will turn into a blue's brain.

Im 1800 hp guy and i got hit for hals of my hp with a single cast. Was fhat a cheat or is it really possible to bust this thing so badly?
- Anonymous
I got curious and decided to run this by itself without a melee weapon and ran into a dude doing a samurai cosplay with two Uchigatanas. Didn't matter what he did all I had to do was spam this until he died. It's chain casts are so fast he couldn't punish me with a rolling attack. It tracked him in the air when he tried to jump over it. He couldn't even sprint strafe it. This spell definitely needs some adjustments. I only had to roll like three or four attacks, and I got hit once.
- Anonymous
WHY THE **** DOES IT HAVE SUCH HIGH POISE DAMAGE, IT'S ****ING SAND BUT HAS THE SAME POISE DAMAGE AS A GREATSWORD BUT 5X AS FAST.
- Anonymous
worth pointing out you can cast this as a running or jumping attack
Who wrote that it is affected by Arrow's Reach Talisman? According to my tests - this talisman has no effect at all
- Anonymous
Man I'm glad no one uses the jumping double cast bug on me in PvP. This spell is hard enough to dodge as is. I use this bug in PvE and it feels brokenly good.

For balance slight nerf to poise damage would be nice, damage wise it's OK, but people forget that it's pure physical so any good medium shield blocks all the damage...

- Anonymous
I spammed this against a mage that was chugging non-stopping, fun ****
- Anonymous
One of the most annoying abilities in the game, and that's saying something all things considered. It would be way less annoying if they did two things: 1. Double the faith requirement. 2. Reduce the insane poise damage this does. If nothing else at least do number 1, this way it can't be used on literally every build making it extremely common.
- Anonymous
It's amazing for getting that last chip damage on people. Though it feels kinda cheap using it outside fighting gankers in pvp.

Boring spell, reminds me of fire stream in ds3 only with added poise break and a wider hitbox.

Somehow I didn't get this even though I gave Gurranq 4 Deathroot. I have Bestial Vitality and Beasts's Roar. Dude has calmed down after getting aggro'd. Anyone know how to fix this?

Sometimes it double casts when cast while jumping, dont know why it does that but there doesnt seem to be any conditions for it, probably just random
Although seems to happen more often when jumping while NOT running

Honed Bolt and Magma Breath chaincast nerfed az of 1.05. Possibly others
- Anonymous
Just epuip this and spam it. Nobody can do any attack. Faster than everything and stuns even the higest poise builds. People who spam this are WORSE than ROB and BHS users
Use this against ROB spammers in PVP. It's really funny to stun them everytime they try to do their weapon skill.
- Anonymous
weird thing i have found with this incantation that for some reason, if you do a walking or running jump and are going slightly downward or do a walking jump on a flat surface, it casts it twice for some reason and just doubles the damage output of this incantation, the game is acting like you are casting two but in the downtime of one so its pretty useful for breaking poise and dealing good ranged damage on a low faith strength build
- Anonymous
This spell is the Elden ring equivalent of bloodborne pistol
- Anonymous
So at first I thought it to be a wonderful spell that deals good damage in pvp, but later I was kinda disappointed.
Use a WHIP in your left hand instead. It has nearly the same range and damage, costs 0 fp and applies bleed/frost with proper infusion. It will cost you 2-3 more points in equipment load which is very low.
Not to mention you can squeeze whips into almost any build.
Unless you are doing some spell-combo cheese, whips are just overall a better choice.
- Anonymous
So looking for sincere feedback, at 60 Faith I don’t feel like this incantation is viable or does much damage. Are y’all really out here shredding in PvE with it? I use Lightning Spear I think it’s called as my main and it shreds
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
there's no reason this spell should do the amount of stagger or damage that it does. I often come across people who resort to playing passive and only using this once they start loosing. inb4 "just use a shield" not ever build in the entire pvp community should be forced to use a shield just to counter this.
it's range and damage are unreasonable for how low cost it is. The games balance overall would be better if this was toned down. I'm well aware comments like this get downvoted on this wiki but ultimately it doesn't matter. I'm 100% convinced From will nerf this regardless of what apologists say.
either way please everyone try to have some basic decency and not spam this in pvp. if you feel you're opponent is trolling you enough to warrant spamming this then just send them home.

This is one of the best for pve because it breaks enemies poise quickly
- Anonymous
I dont care for pvp, they gonna nerf this spell just nerf for pvp, for god sake

For people having trouble with dedicated spam from this spell here’s my advice and how I hard counter it. It’s a shield check on most builds so simply having a shield and regen is one counter. The real strategic counter though is to play passive just out of range. This is the hard counter to all cheese be it rivers of blood or bestial sling. Bore them to death until they make a mistake. The kind of person who uses these crutches want a fast dopamine hit from a win and have given up on refined or sophisticated strategies. If they’re low health and switch to this then let them have their space... give them just enough rope to hang themselves with. If you charge into bestial sling and get damaged you’re positively reinforcing their spam. This spell primarily used to cover for honed bolt so just don’t get roll caught by cross-school chain casting nonsense. If they switch to honed bolt spam then you’ve won. Bestial sling is now on the other side of their spell play list at least until they roll away 50 times to finally have it ready. Nobody actually chain casts this with magma breath or stone or guranq, they’re not sophisticated enough, but beware these are possible when fighting skilled players.

Huh, I guess I've been missing out. I thought this spell was garbage but everyone seems to love/hate it for being OP.

Bestial Sling needs a nerf. Everyone focuses on Rivers of Blood but at least you can parry that with enough skill. This is downright far more annoying and dare I say it just about as skillful as a rivers of blood user. This incantation is just not fun to fight against when you know someone just has this insta-win button against you at low health and don't even need skill to hit you when you're low. Don't forget this also makes spell casting time shorter for some reason. People defend this by saying it "makes faith viable" as if that makes it any better. Instead of y'know just buffing the actual cool incantations themselves and patching this people just want these insane insta-poise breaker into a sniper incantation that's extremely hard to react to. I would say at the very least increase the faith requirement a lot more so no one can just throw this into any build without sacrificing other aspects of their build and make them make some actually hard choices. The only other argument people make in favor of this is to "just avoid it" and "just learn how to counter it with a shield". Mind you these are the same people that complain about Malenia's waterfowl dance because apparently they can't learn how to just avoid that. Even if someone just spams Bestial Sling and I can reliably predict when they'll use it, its still just annoying and not fun to fight against.
The people who defend this incantation are like that friend who thinks they listen to underground music but actually listen to the every single top band/artist.
- Anonymous
yo how tf anyone manage to boost the damage on this spell? my friend got invaded by a red spirit wearing full bull-goat set with veteran helmet, and he just spamming this spell with damage that is absurb prolly like 300 or 400 something and to top it all off he has Morgott Curved Greatsword and he can cast the WA without getting interrupted by any attack even a Nightrider Glaive jump attack does nothing.
- Anonymous
Faith simply has no business having the shotgun version of glintstone pebble... and I’m a pure faith caster. Needs a poise nerf, damage nerf. Leave the spam to mages and the jaw dropping, Old Testament style destruction to faith, ok?

Y'all know not everyone does PVP, right? And changing the balance of something in an open world, high difficulty game like this just so that a side activity like PVP works better is completely ludicrous? I don't remember who said it, but they made the point that the game is designed around fighting enemies with thousands of health, not hundreds. There is literally no way to make PVE and PVP equally viable when the intended targets are so different. If you nerf something so that PVP players aren't upset by how effective it is, it will no longer be effective enough to deal with the rest of the game's challenges.

Why oh why does this stagger and shorten the next spells casting time. Complete garbage lmao

Fromsoftware needs to nerf, remove, or change the combos that come from the spell. When you cast things like magma breath or honed bolt the cast speed animation looks ridiculous and was obviously not intended as a feature.

This spell along with Catch flame can glitch out (and exploit) any spell with a secondary spammable animation (like honed bolt, dragon claw, magma, lightning strike etc) because the game treats that cast as if it were the secondary animation, thus removing a good 1 second from cast times of said above skills. Wouldnt recommend doing it tho, not only will im sure it will get patched, its just a ***** move for the most part
- Anonymous
Stop rushing into people using this. They're not sorcery users. Strafe to your right and swing after they cast, you will trade with their next cast which will be a positive for you. This incantation's entire purpose is to murder grug's that are incapable of NOT rushing someone. You rush them if they use a dragon breathe attack. Stay at mid range and punish cooldown. I am a pure incantation user and I always point down at people who rush me because they end up being 3 hit. It is your own fault if this happens to you.
Random Bug I noticed. On a character with max sorcery scaling. If using an offhand attack with a weapon then using bestial sling, it will deal essentially no damage. Very niche, but interesting bug
