Black Dumpling is a Helm in Elden Ring. Black Dumpling is an individual piece and doesn't belong to any set. Black Dumpling protect the player's head by applying various defensive properties, it also changes the appearance as well when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.
"Mask forced on a victim's head to lend torture an extra degree of cruelty.
It magnifies one's fears and makes them acutely aware of all forms of pain.
Raises attack power when the wearer suffers from madness.
When the Black Dumpling goes on, the torturer no longer seeks answers; only to inflict suffering without hope of relief."
Where to find Black Dumpling in Elden Ring
- The Black Dumpling Helm can be obtained by killing the First Generation Albinaurics found at Volcano Manor and in the lower Leyndell Royal Capital who wear it.
- Three Albinaurics can be found close to the Church of the Eclipse Site of Grace in Castle Sol. From the Site, take the South-East door, exit the chappel and go straight ahead inside the tower. Be careful not to get ambushed.

Elden Ring Black Dumpling Notes & Tips
- Sell Value:
10 Runes
- Base drop rate is 0.5% (at 100 Discovery)
- Best place to farm is in Volcano Manor.
- The darkened stairwell prior to reaching the Guest Hall site of grace has several First Generation Albinaurics in it
- The shortcut that leads directly to the entry hall of the Volcano Manor is also a viable option, however, this requires beating the Godskin Noble first
- The one Black Dumpling wearing Albinaurics near Subterranean Inquisition Chamber site of grace.
- Boost damage 10% for 60 seconds after you suffer Madness. This buff persists even if the helm is removed'
- Howl of Shabriri is the best tool for intentionally triggering the madness buildup (Howl is buff on its own). If you are earlier in the game, The Flame of Frenzy spell can be a viable alternate option
- Poise Updated to patch 1.07

Level 1 runners socks and shoes I tell you! The innate +10% of all damage goes so far I swear it makes a difference! Can't imagine how good this **** is on a normal playthrough, slept on this one for way too long lol

I acquired one of these because of my sheer terror of the weird black bag head grabbers. I guess my really is turning around.

Go farm mats for Pickled Silver Feet if you need. Equip Sacred Relic sword. Go through the doorway in volcano manor across from where Patches. Use AOW on all the Albinaurics. Rinse repeat.
Wear the silver tear mask, silver scarab, and Marika’s Soreseal for more arcane/discovery. Make sure you run back, and not teleport, to the Volcano Manor grace if you wanna get 3 farms per foot.

I never noticed the eye holes... not sure if that makes it better or worse.
- Anonymous
I want to farm this, but I just can't face those scary crawling Abinaurics. Their voice and movement scared me too much.
- Anonymous
I was farming for the magma blade for more or less than an hour, then this black dumpling suddenly dropped from a nearby albinauric. And on the same run, the magma blade miraculously dropped. One of the best days of my life indeed
- Anonymous
I got the black dumpling while trying to farm for magma blade like WTF Elden Ring give me what i want not what is needless
- Anonymous
I got one today from Castle Sol. There are 3 or 4 of those enemies on a lower level inside the building where the spectral knights spawn just before Commander Niall.

Can someone explain how unendurable frenzy is a good choice to inflict madness on yourself? It’s legit the worst way to do it, unless I’m missing something here. Howl of shabriri does it a lot faster and with less fp and on top of that you get 25 percent general damage buff with a 10 percent physical damage buff with the black dumpling. Flame of frenzy is the practically just as good but without the debuff and it cost like 5 fp more. I’m running a mad berserker build with 14 mind using armor with 0 focus. In just one cast of howl of shabririr I can fill 95 percent of the madness bar up. I’ve even tested it with 24 mind and couldn’t even proc in one cast with unendurable frenzy. It took 3 casts with howl of shabriri and flame of frenzy but I still had enough fp left over to cast both of those 3 more times. Unendurable frenzy just seems like a terrible choice.

What if you wanted ( black dumpling) but God said ( albinauric bloodclot )

I feel like I'M gonna get a 10% buff in real life if this don't drop soon

As of patch 1.07.1 The Flame of Frenzy does not trigger the buff. I do not have the later game madness incants as of right now to test, but only Howl of Shabriri applies it for me.
Also for fellow farmers, per an earlier comment using the Volcano Manor grace if you have the shortcut back to the entrance/hallway across from where Patches sits there are 5 or 6 Albinaurics in the main dark room. Managed to luckily get the dumpling in about 20 minutes with 8 Arcane using Silver Pickled feet for 150something discovery.

I was farming magma blades which have 1% drop rate... Didn't got a single one but on my way for farming these i sometimes killed the single annoying f***er hiding just outside the elevator on the left and got this instead.. fuk this game.

The Guest Hall grace is a much better farming spot with 1 dumpling guy right outside the room, 4 more in the dungeon/torture area, and 1 more that comes down from the stairs in the same area.

Naturally, it only drops for my character with no faith investment

Hmm.
I just got this. Had no clue what it was until I came here to look it up just now.
Seems pretty sweet. I farmed for them for a total of 0 minutes. How does that make you feel?

Will this drop from the one at the subterranean inquisition chamber? I see no reason as to why it wouldn't but I haven't seen anyone mention farming that guy
- Anonymous
The existence of this item reminds me to not have any sympathy killing anyone of the Volcano manor NPCS. Except Rya, the sweeting.
- Anonymous
try for the volcano manor grace if you got the door open from the other side of patches.

so i dont know when or how since never got the NEW! message but was about to farm this and the fish head, and then was going through my helms only to find out i already had them both.... so a yay but also damn is the NEW! pop up buggy at times, almost wasted hours of my life farming for something i already had XD.
Feels like a nod to the Enlarged Head enemies from the Research Hall in Bloodborne

You don't need to use Howling Shabriri, or even be a faith build at all, to make use of this item. Use a Frenzyflame Stone. They're easy to craft once you find the recipe in the Cathedral of the Forsaken area. Sanctuary Stones can be brought from the bell bearing in Farum Azula, and Yellow Embers can be easily gotten from the opposite end of the bridge next to 9th Campsite in Gelmir, several of them near the frenzied knights there (though they're hard to see in the ground until you look for them). You can even swap out the hat once you've gotten the 10% free damage boost.

I got this and the magma blade on my first run through volcano manor. didn't even know they were rare...
>Frenzy caster build
>Farm at Volcano Manor for eight hours
>Over 450 kills for one hat
>Play STR/FTH character
>Rush Leyndell for Thunderbolt Ash
>Two out of three Albinaurics right next to the scarab drop
>Both items are purple
>No****ingway.mp3
>Double Dumplings
Bit late to the party, RNGesus.

212 discovery, 20 minutes of farming in Guest hall. Got one from the first one. Decided "you know, I'm feeling lucky" go on and decide to finish the run and got another. 2 on 1 run. Keep trying lads, you got this.
- Anonymous
198.0 discovery. Probably took about 8-10 runs. I got very lucky. Keep killing these freaks boys, get yer dumplings.
- Anonymous
The Guest Hall site of grace is a closer sog that is practically on top of them. Shortens your run while farming :)

I pray your rng isn’t as horrendous as mine; 300+ discovery, and it took over 150 kills. Not to mention, these things are straight out of my nightmares. Thanks, From.
- Anonymous
248 item discovery, 2 silver feet, took about 27 runs I think.
- Anonymous
not as cool as the enlarged head from bloodborne but ill take it
- Anonymous
Got it on my first run through in the volcano manor spot lmao. Have 274 discovery with a build I made before I start ng+.

After 1 hour of farming. I watched the white glow on the ground as I squirmed to death in the arms of one of them .(it was my first death to these creatures)
- Anonymous
Wow, didn't know this has an extremely low drop chance.
I got 1 from my first pt.
- Anonymous
I wish the effect was a bit stronger. Unlike the other damage boosting, status proc items, this has no ring equivalent. And it only works if the user was effected rather then anything nearby.
- Anonymous
If you search "black dump", this is first thing that comes up, with Dung eater being the second
- Anonymous
love going to the comments section to see if something is any good and then looking on in horror as everyone talks about how it took them 8 hours to get it to drop haha god i love rng based drop mechanics (im guessing its not that good as getting stunned for a few seconds and losing most of your fp in exchange for 10% more damage for one minute doesnt sound like the best deal considering all the other damage buff sources)
- Anonymous
19 blood clots and 65000 runes richer yet the grind has sapped any fun I would have gained from this item.
- Anonymous
The things that drop this helmet are the absolute worst, they're not hard to fight or anything they're just creepy as all hell
- Anonymous
Can also drop from 3 enemies in Castle Sol wearing the helm, just down stairs from Commander Niall boss fight.
- Anonymous
Got this like on my 10th kill with only 130 discovery, I feel so good. Now to wear an entirely different helm and forget I ever owned this one
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
So this page refers it as the enemy who wears it and it's not listed either on Volcano Manor and Castle Sol's page, I guess these enemies don't have a name

Took me about 15 mins of farming with an arcane build. Just used mohgwyns sacred spear skill inside guest hall (valcano manor) 6 of them. Also used silver pickled fowl foots. Thank me later

I didn't know this was so rare i got this at random when i killed the 1 enemy with this on his head in the room where you get missionary cookbook 6.
- Anonymous
first guy I killed drop this hat, didn't even know what it was until I became a madness build and realized it was the rarest helm in the game
- Anonymous
The enemies who wear it in Castle Sol drop it too, that's how I got mine
- Anonymous
Got this by pure accident. Was farming a second magma blade and aggro'd one of the little gremlins. Wouldn't let me teleport back to grace site, so I killed it. Then I got the helmet. Did not realize how lucky I got until looking at this page.
dropped after about 400 kills at the Guest Hall. 212 discovery.
a little optimization to farm
equip something range to kill enemy from 1 shot and fast. i used Great Glintstone Shard with Albinauric Staff+24(258 sorcery scale)
1. stay at position close to grace that you can lock on enemy and shoot through the open door and rest at site of grace without moving
2. up from grace
3. lock and shoot
4. look for purple loot
5. if not, stay at site of grace and repeat

Since nobody else has mentioned it if you go to the subterranean inquisition chamber site of grace about 5ft from the site there's a small set of stairs that has a black dumpling guy at the bottom and a albinauric at the top.
Hope this helps best of luck!
- Anonymous
man, i must have crazy rng, i got 2 of these in 5 mins of farming, killed maybe 20 of the guys, guest hall is the best spot as there's several of them.
- Anonymous
Guest Hall is a much better place to farm. There are 6 enemies instead of 5. They are next to grace. Also drop rate seems much better. Got 0 in 300 tries at volcano manor. Got 3 in 60 tries here.
- Anonymous
wow I got it my first run through the manor and just looked it up here to see what it was
- Anonymous
I got it randomly passing through first try.
1%? Maybe I should do the lotto...
- Anonymous
Anyone else see the irony in its ability and its low drop rate?
- Anonymous
Oh thank God I thought this was the poop helmet... I still hate these enemies though.
- Anonymous
Looking for someone to drop this for me, have 3 rune arcs. Don’t have time to farm for hours I have a life wife and kids thank you very much.
Add me on discord Calvert#0001
- Anonymous
To all the folks struggling for 5+ hours I got it on my run through there lol
Got it after 250ish kills (274 discovery). The first 220 kills or so were on the room with the 5 guys, but i actually got the drop on the one that sits alone very close to guest hall grace.
- Anonymous
Just came to say : After around 250 kills, it popped for me.
Don't bother picking up white loot, it's the purple ones you're after.
- Anonymous
You can also get it as a drop from enemies in the leyndell sewers
- Anonymous
Honestly I really noticed a big dropraate difference by killing them with frenzy spells, go it in 10 minutes
- Anonymous
I ran the Volcano Manor farm for a short while but the run to and from was not worth the 5 enemies available. You could fast travel back but you lose the silver fowl foot buff if you do, requiring you to pop a new one every single time. Instead I opted to farm it from the Guest Hall grace in the same area. As soon as you exit the grace there is one of these enemies no more than 10 yards away. It takes all of five seconds to do a run this way. Much more time and resource efficient.

This headpiece is said to be part of the "Black Set" which doesn't exist on this wiki and that nobody ever talks about online. Is this a mistake or does the set actually exist but nobody cares?
With 324 discovery, took approximately 5hr (300ish kills) to get a drop. This is very rare.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I got a 32% damage increase on a Frenzied Burst. That's actually massive
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I respecced my character to 99 arcane and farmed this for an hour until i got it. i don't know why. It's kinda ugly.
- Anonymous
DOESN'T WORK, IT'S BUGGED!
So I tested it with both, incantations AND melee weapons. I didn't grant any bonus damage whatsoever, even with 80% of the madness bare filled.
As long as there's no patch fix for this not worth the grind. Stay away from it!
- Anonymous
Some observations (from what I could tell): It does boost magic attacks. It stacks with Flame Give Me Strength and Golden Vow. It only triggers after you have actually gone mad. Having madness ticks does nothing. After going mad, it seems like it boosts your damage for about 1.5 minutes. After that, you have to go mad again.
I obtained mine using the farming method described on this wiki, should anyone be curious. With silver scarab equipped, it only took about 15 minutes of farming with arcane of 17.
- Anonymous
Cleared the volcano manor room a couple dozen times with 153 discovery so it's a pretty low drop rate but it is farmable
So does it trigger whenever you have some buildup on your madness bar, or only once the bar fills and you get the "MADNESS" popup?
