Black Dumpling is a Helm in Elden Ring. Black Dumpling is an individual piece and doesn't belong to any set. Black Dumpling protect the player's head by applying various defensive properties, it also changes the appearance as well when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.
"Mask forced on a victim's head to lend torture an extra degree of cruelty.
It magnifies one's fears and makes them acutely aware of all forms of pain.
Raises attack power when the wearer suffers from madness.
When the Black Dumpling goes on, the torturer no longer seeks answers; only to inflict suffering without hope of relief."
Where to find Black Dumpling in Elden Ring
- The Black Dumpling Helm can be obtained by killing the First Generation Albinaurics found at Volcano Manor and in the lower Leyndell Royal Capital who wear it.
- Three Albinaurics can be found close to the Church of the Eclipse Site of Grace in Castle Sol. From the Site, take the South-East door, exit the chappel and go straight ahead inside the tower. Be careful not to get ambushed.

Elden Ring Black Dumpling Notes & Tips
- Sell Value:
10 Runes
- Base drop rate is 0.5% (at 100 Discovery)
- Best place to farm is in Volcano Manor.
- The darkened stairwell prior to reaching the Guest Hall site of grace has several First Generation Albinaurics in it
- The shortcut that leads directly to the entry hall of the Volcano Manor is also a viable option, however, this requires beating the Godskin Noble first
- The one Black Dumpling wearing Albinaurics near Subterranean Inquisition Chamber site of grace.
- After you suffer Madness it boosts ALL damage by 10% for 60 seconds, not just attack power. This buff persists even if the helm is removed.
- Howl of Shabriri is the best tool for intentionally triggering the madness buildup (Howl is buff on its own). If you are earlier in the game, The Flame of Frenzy spell can be a viable alternate option
- Poise Updated to patch 1.07

Some of these anon's never farmed for Proofs of a Concord Kept and it shows.

I wanted to play a madness build for a while so I said I'd better farm this. After about 1/2 h I got the drop and went to equip it. Lo and behold, I had another one in my inventory. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...
- Anonymous
To everyone mad about the drop rate, don't be. This thing is bound to drop at least once per playthrough, and you can easily farm it in one or two rests if you just use a silver fowl foot and clear that spot in volcano manor where they crawl around.
I do wish there was better fashion. I like the bdsm masks of the previous souls games more.

Went and farmed silver feet just to get this item, took me over an hour
- Anonymous
>headwear purely existing to cause pain
>terrible farm
I see what you did there, Miyazaki.
- Anonymous
Does not boost incantation damage as of the latest patch. Not sure if it ever did but tested with frenzy flame burst
- Anonymous
Super brainless farm: start at guest hall site of grace. Right outside the door is one of the insane albinaurics that drop the item. Snipe it with frenzied burst or any other long range spell/weapon. Sit back at grace, repeat. You can find a spot from the grace that lets you snipe the albinauric as soon as you stand up, so you don't have to move. Turn on a TV show, podcast, or listen to music, and get the item no stress

Killed 3 of those little mfs looking for somber 7 got this on accident
- Anonymous
This thing is unreasonably difficult to get for only a 10% damage increase. Why?
- Anonymous
At least an hour running back in forth to one room killing four enemies. Never again.
- Anonymous
it's kind of frustrating that a cool synergy with madness is locked to the one dumpy-ass hat
it should have been a talisman
- Anonymous
Didn't get this thing to drop, decided to farm bird feet for silver feet, went back and used silber foot only to get it on the second run only using one silver foot. That's my luck everyone. And that's not even the first time this happened to me. So how's your farming day going?
- Anonymous
Currently on attempt #25, 205 arcane, running thru 5 albies at guest hall mt gelmir. No dumpling. Albinauric bomboclot.
- Anonymous
Did they change the duration of the buff? The page says 60 seconds, but as of 1.12.3 it only lasts 30 seconds.
- Anonymous
somehow got it on my fourth reset in castle sol
I used gravitas with magic affinity to get all the albinaurics at once and to get them right infront for faster pickup.
setup was useful for nothing
- Anonymous
256 discovery = 1.27% drop chance
Killed exactly 150 Albinaurics until it dropped
Farmed it in Castle Sol
I wasted 2 hours farming for this with 324 Discovery. Thank you, Elden Ring.
- Anonymous
absolutely worthless in pvp why is it not madness in vicinity? desperately needs a buff
How rare is this thing? I'm three hours into farming it and no drop yet.
Would this ash trigger Millicent's Prosthesis or the Rotten Winged sword Insignia?
- Anonymous
holy crap, i had no idea this thing was this rare, i got 2 in a row in my first 2 tries.. guess RNGesus comes in at the most unexpected of times

Trust in RNGus.
I farmed the perfumer shield for two hours and the dumpling dropped 1st run 4th kill.
I just got two of these back to back while farming lol on Steam. I'd happily drop my spare for a fellow lover in search of the frenzied flame ;)

50 min of my time with 196 discovery. I think the madness I built up farming this should be enough to proc it infinitely

I keep searching dumplings, and here i get a hat.... not a tasty delectable treat. CURSE YOU, FROMSOFT FOR NAMING IT A FOOD ITEM!!!!! T_T
- Anonymous
would use if madness didn't leave me vulnerable for a good 2 seconds
- Anonymous
This buff is easier to trigger than the self inflicted poison buff.
- Anonymous
Fought another player in a duel and they left this on the ground as a gift for me before fighting. Very wholesome moment considering it's a rare drop.
- Anonymous
So does it trigger whenever you have some buildup on your madness bar, or only once the bar fills and you get the "MADNESS" popup?
- Anonymous
Level 1 runners socks and shoes I tell you! The innate +10% of all damage goes so far I swear it makes a difference! Can't imagine how good this **** is on a normal playthrough, slept on this one for way too long lol
- Anonymous
I acquired one of these because of my sheer terror of the weird black bag head grabbers. I guess my really is turning around.

i cant belive this is 0,5 i always drop it passing by on 17 different characters

Go farm mats for Pickled Silver Feet if you need. Equip Sacred Relic sword. Go through the doorway in volcano manor across from where Patches. Use AOW on all the Albinaurics. Rinse repeat.
Wear the silver tear mask, silver scarab, and Marika’s Soreseal for more arcane/discovery. Make sure you run back, and not teleport, to the Volcano Manor grace if you wanna get 3 farms per foot.

I never noticed the eye holes... not sure if that makes it better or worse.

I want to farm this, but I just can't face those scary crawling Abinaurics. Their voice and movement scared me too much.
- Anonymous
I was farming for the magma blade for more or less than an hour, then this black dumpling suddenly dropped from a nearby albinauric. And on the same run, the magma blade miraculously dropped. One of the best days of my life indeed
- Anonymous
I got the black dumpling while trying to farm for magma blade like WTF Elden Ring give me what i want not what is needless
- Anonymous
I got one today from Castle Sol. There are 3 or 4 of those enemies on a lower level inside the building where the spectral knights spawn just before Commander Niall.

Can someone explain how unendurable frenzy is a good choice to inflict madness on yourself? It’s legit the worst way to do it, unless I’m missing something here. Howl of shabriri does it a lot faster and with less fp and on top of that you get 25 percent general damage buff with a 10 percent physical damage buff with the black dumpling. Flame of frenzy is the practically just as good but without the debuff and it cost like 5 fp more. I’m running a mad berserker build with 14 mind using armor with 0 focus. In just one cast of howl of shabririr I can fill 95 percent of the madness bar up. I’ve even tested it with 24 mind and couldn’t even proc in one cast with unendurable frenzy. It took 3 casts with howl of shabriri and flame of frenzy but I still had enough fp left over to cast both of those 3 more times. Unendurable frenzy just seems like a terrible choice.

What if you wanted ( black dumpling) but God said ( albinauric bloodclot )
- Anonymous
I feel like I'M gonna get a 10% buff in real life if this don't drop soon
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
As of patch 1.07.1 The Flame of Frenzy does not trigger the buff. I do not have the later game madness incants as of right now to test, but only Howl of Shabriri applies it for me.
Also for fellow farmers, per an earlier comment using the Volcano Manor grace if you have the shortcut back to the entrance/hallway across from where Patches sits there are 5 or 6 Albinaurics in the main dark room. Managed to luckily get the dumpling in about 20 minutes with 8 Arcane using Silver Pickled feet for 150something discovery.

I was farming magma blades which have 1% drop rate... Didn't got a single one but on my way for farming these i sometimes killed the single annoying f***er hiding just outside the elevator on the left and got this instead.. fuk this game.
- Anonymous
The Guest Hall grace is a much better farming spot with 1 dumpling guy right outside the room, 4 more in the dungeon/torture area, and 1 more that comes down from the stairs in the same area.

Naturally, it only drops for my character with no faith investment

Hmm.
I just got this. Had no clue what it was until I came here to look it up just now.
Seems pretty sweet. I farmed for them for a total of 0 minutes. How does that make you feel?

Will this drop from the one at the subterranean inquisition chamber? I see no reason as to why it wouldn't but I haven't seen anyone mention farming that guy
- Anonymous
The existence of this item reminds me to not have any sympathy killing anyone of the Volcano manor NPCS. Except Rya, the sweeting.
- Anonymous
try for the volcano manor grace if you got the door open from the other side of patches.

so i dont know when or how since never got the NEW! message but was about to farm this and the fish head, and then was going through my helms only to find out i already had them both.... so a yay but also damn is the NEW! pop up buggy at times, almost wasted hours of my life farming for something i already had XD.
Feels like a nod to the Enlarged Head enemies from the Research Hall in Bloodborne
- Anonymous
You don't need to use Howling Shabriri, or even be a faith build at all, to make use of this item. Use a Frenzyflame Stone. They're easy to craft once you find the recipe in the Cathedral of the Forsaken area. Sanctuary Stones can be brought from the bell bearing in Farum Azula, and Yellow Embers can be easily gotten from the opposite end of the bridge next to 9th Campsite in Gelmir, several of them near the frenzied knights there (though they're hard to see in the ground until you look for them). You can even swap out the hat once you've gotten the 10% free damage boost.

I got this and the magma blade on my first run through volcano manor. didn't even know they were rare...
>Frenzy caster build
>Farm at Volcano Manor for eight hours
>Over 450 kills for one hat
>Play STR/FTH character
>Rush Leyndell for Thunderbolt Ash
>Two out of three Albinaurics right next to the scarab drop
>Both items are purple
>No****ingway.mp3
>Double Dumplings
Bit late to the party, RNGesus.

212 discovery, 20 minutes of farming in Guest hall. Got one from the first one. Decided "you know, I'm feeling lucky" go on and decide to finish the run and got another. 2 on 1 run. Keep trying lads, you got this.
- Anonymous
198.0 discovery. Probably took about 8-10 runs. I got very lucky. Keep killing these freaks boys, get yer dumplings.
- Anonymous
The Guest Hall site of grace is a closer sog that is practically on top of them. Shortens your run while farming :)

I pray your rng isn’t as horrendous as mine; 300+ discovery, and it took over 150 kills. Not to mention, these things are straight out of my nightmares. Thanks, From.
- Anonymous
248 item discovery, 2 silver feet, took about 27 runs I think.
- Anonymous
not as cool as the enlarged head from bloodborne but ill take it

Got it on my first run through in the volcano manor spot lmao. Have 274 discovery with a build I made before I start ng+.

After 1 hour of farming. I watched the white glow on the ground as I squirmed to death in the arms of one of them .(it was my first death to these creatures)
- Anonymous
Wow, didn't know this has an extremely low drop chance.
I got 1 from my first pt.
- Anonymous
I wish the effect was a bit stronger. Unlike the other damage boosting, status proc items, this has no ring equivalent. And it only works if the user was effected rather then anything nearby.
- Anonymous
If you search "black dump", this is first thing that comes up, with Dung eater being the second
Got this without trying. Had no idea what it was.
