I love this sword, and I know it’s S tier atm, but I would like it to have split int/faith scaling and requirement. We only have 1 int/faith weapon atm, and it’d make a nice combo with magma sorceries and the gelmir staff.

This sword would then represent the unity between the faith of the devouring serpent and the intelligence of the carian royal roots, especially since this is Rykard’s signature weapon.

This would also make this weapon less accessible, so it’s overpowered nature would be worth it (so it would be rarer in pvp).

weapon skill probably needs a slight range nerf. you should need to put yourself in harms way in order to get the healing benefits. simple risk-and-reward.

        • Anonymous

does the healing ability of this weapon stacks with talismans such as taker's cameo and godskin swaddling cloth?

          • Anonymous

phantom procs in pvp really need to be fixed. other players don't even need to hit you to reap insane benefits, its ridiculous.

            • Anonymous

This thing is actually kinda silly I wrecked astel by spamming the weapon art and any other boss I could come across morgot dead shade of Godfrey dead btw I punched to plus 9 before using it so that probably has something to do with it good counter against the omens too since I just did the same tactic and they couldn’t get up… man I love this weapon

              • Anonymous

Fantastic weapon duo speed and dmg it does. the bit of healing might be a bonus but since most bosses at ng 7+ oneshoot you doesnt work out.

                • Anonymous

alot of players say it is to op and pvp players that about how much dmg it does and that it does to much dmg i got to say all the times i pvp i never once got hit to not to be rude if you are getting hit your skill is not that good at all the skill is slow and if you are getting hit you reaction time is even slower

                  • Anonymous

its so good that i feel bad when using it everything about it is a 10
the skill is good so is the dmg and i cant say it takes the fun away from the game but it makes it easy the only hard thing is killing fast moving boss it good in pve and okay in pvp it does not need any buff or nerf

                    • Anonymous

Excellent at cheesing Crucible Knights with its weapon art provided your don't get greedy/reckless and keep some distance, Taker's Flame flinches them and pushes them back, and usually kills them fairly quickly.

                      • Anonymous

This weapon is so good, even for a pure faith build it's worth it to get the minimal requirement to weild it, and the weapon art is so OP you can reach thousands of damage with buffs, it's just stronger than any of my spells lmao.

                        • Anonymous

why does this maggot/worm infested sword hit so hard? i want to throw it away because its so disgusting but it's good

                          • Anonymous

                            Left Hand: Dragon Communion Seal
Right Hand: Black Knife, BBlade (switch out when I see fit) just beat Radagon/Elden Beast with this setup

                            • Anonymous

I really wanna use this sword but its so disgusting that I rather wait for this to get greatsword artorias treatment with the dlc. Maybe an int scaling one would be nice

I've been switching between this and Gargoyle's Blackblade on my str/faith build and I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been nerfed yet, they could straight up halve the damage and range of Taker's Flames to bring it line with Corpse Wax Cutter and it would still be viable because of the healing effect.

                                  Faith users rate my idea:

I'm going for a faith/dex sort of thing where I powerstance the balsphemous blade and the golden order greatsword. I've got plenty more points into faith than dex bc of the better scaling too. In my off hand, i've got the erdtree seal to swap for the golden order greatsword for the occasional incantation i.e. golden order, fgms, etc.

Awesome weapon mainly because of its great weapon art and the fact that it heals you, its weapon art has great range, does great damage to anything that's not resistant to fire damage while not using up much fp meaning its pretty spammable if you have a good amount of fp flasks and/or a decent amount of points in mind, especially if you use the carian filigreed talisman, the weapon itself isn't shabby either and does nice damage on its own, my only complaint is that it doesn't have a unique moveset, its no dealbreaker by any means but its still a shame, other than that though its an amazing weapon for pretty much any build investing in Faith, especially since it scales equally well with dex as it does with strength meaning its very good on pretty much any faith build that can afford the points in dex and strength.

At first I felt bad for using this to melt bosses, but that's what they get for being resistant to holy damage. Paladin go brrr

Another braindead weapon that has straight-up broken AOW: absurdly high damage output, strong knockdown capabilities and huge lifesteal in one kit. If you are invaded by Reds using this sword, be very cautious, as one WA can hit like a damn train that CJ failed to follow; even if you manage to survive, a follow-up Bestial Sling can send you back to Grace real quick.

huh.. quite ironic dont you think? for something named as "Blasphemous" blade requires faith to be able to wield it. it even has a B scale on it, bruh, faith for what exactly again?

Tip: use an oil pot every time before casting "Taker's flames." Oil pots increase the next fire attack by 50% and stack multiplicity with buffs, almost doubling the damage. A great spot to farm melted mushrooms for these pots is the "Nokron, Eternal City" grace. There should he two melted mushrooms on the right, gather them then rest at the grace to repeat this cycle.

                                              • Anonymous

This sword is not bad in PvP. If you have at least 80 poise, which you should on any decent PvP build, then you can easily poise through dex weapons and smash them for a winning trade every single time. Heavy armor also raises your robustness, which slows down RoB bleed spam, so that you can actually eat the first rotation and one shot them with takers flame. If you're locking on to use the weapon art, then you're doing it wrong. Run around a corner and then free aim takers flame as they follow. Unless they have ridiculous fire resistance or 60+ vigor, then they're all getting one-shot. I invaded into an instant 3 man gank, only for me to run around a corner and kill all 3 of them with taker's flame free aimed. Seeing as two of their summons had engame gear and weapons, they were most likely extremely high-level summons scaled down, and they still died instantly.

There's a reason why Giant Dad was the slayer of all dex users, and this is a direct upgrade to his weapon, thanks to the extreme range and AOE you can get on it. If you can get two of these and powerstance them with full jump attack damage boost from chest and talisman, then you can absolutely torch someone with just a single jumping L1. I only use 1 and I still smack people around like they're my tinder date.

The one thing you guys complaining about greatswords are lacking is spacing. If you don't space, then of course you're going to get obliterated by some powerstancing katana user, but hit for hit, you will far outdamage them to the point of the fight being completely one-sided.

I rock Alexander's shard, Ritual Sword Talisman, Fires scorpion charm, and then select Ritual Shield Talisman if I'm getting one-shot consistently and want to stop dying, The FP skill reduction talisman for more uses, or just another pure damage talisman like the jump attack talisman to help burst harder. Fire scorp talisman is nerfed in PvP, so you can always drop it and go for Milicent's prosthesis, if you're an irredeemable twinky monster, or rotten winged insignia if you are a decent human being.

If you're low level twinking and you aren't skilled enough at the game to beat Fire Giant at level 20-40, then you can always kill Alexander for a nerfed version of Alexander's shard. In my opinion though, you should just get good instead.

                                                • Anonymous

This weapon is ridicously OP. Not only that, but out of sheer curiosity I tried using it to farm the albinaurics in Mohgwyn Palace and it's great. Using taker's flames with the two fingers heirloom and Marika's soreseal I'm able to one shot a group of 4-6 albinaurics, and the rest can be easily taken out too if you aim well. It isn't as fast as using the Sacred Relic sword's skill, but it's slightly faster than using Mohg's sacred spear or Radahn's greatswords. Overall one of the best weapons in the game in my opinion

My favorite build so far: Pure faith with min requirement for str. Powerstance blasphemous blade with flame infused iron greatsword in left hand. Swap out left hand for giant’s seal as needed. Giantsflame take thee for ranged/AOE and burn o’ flame for large enemies. Dragoncrest greatshield talisman, fire scorpion charm, shard of alexander, and claw talisman or flock’s canvas talisman. Extremely fluid, versatile and powerful build that focuses entirely on fire damage.

Wow, this is overpowered! I did testing with it against the stagecoach trolls in Limgrave, ignoring the first hit which has a bonus.

                                                        Skill damage:
                                                        400 at +0 with 22 faith (R1 was 118 for comparison)
                                                        489 at +0 with 61 faith
                                                        564 at +2 with 22 faith (R1 was 194)
                                                        604 at +2 with 32 faith
                                                        620 at +2 with 61 faith
                                                        1202 at +7 with 61 faith

By contrast, the Ruins Greatsword did only 247 damage at +0 and 917 damage at +9. Maybe these trolls have a fire vulnerability but still, that's insane damage, and it also heals you a huge amount per HIT, not per death, so it works on bosses.

Range seemed to be a *tiny* bit shorter than the Ruins Greatsword, but it was nearly the same. Of course this does low damage against fire-resistant enemies but overall it's just ridiculous. Also it's a greatsword, not a colossal sword, so it swings much faster one-handed and is lighter, with low requirements. Ruins does however knock down every non-colossal enemy not outright killed by it.

                                                        • Anonymous

Gross sword that will ruin your drip but this thing is useful even if don't have a pure FTH build.

If you play around proccing Frostbite, Taker's Flame is a great alternative to RoB to reset the frost status.

I think we're all kinda right with what this blade is inspired by. The Mea Culpa from Blasphemous, Skull Knight's sword in Berserk, and I myself thought this sword could have been inspired by the Stormbringer from Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone saga. In broad strokes the Stormbringer drinks souls and gives their strength to the wielder of the blade, similar to how this sword is made up of devoured heroes and grants life to it's owner.

Maybe all these fictional blades draw inspiration from some kind of OG soul stealing sword that came from a really old ass story before all these other stories. I genuinely dont know if that's the case but its a mildly interesting thought

                                                              Pros:
                                                              - tickles you enemies on the inside when you crit them.
                                                              - picks the mites out of your armor when holding it 2 handed.
                                                              - can roll a cigarette with those small hand things AND light it for you.
                                                              - pats you on the shoulder after a kill.
                                                              Cons:
                                                              - might crawl/scuttle away if unsupervised.
                                                              - constantly asks for living victims.
                                                              - smells like snake guts.

My health has improved dramatically, and together we give out a warm welcome to anyone we come across. Traveling the Lands Between has never been so convenient!

I rank this product 10 Somber Smithing Stones out of 10, would join the serpent king as family again.

                                                                        • Just got this and it's freaking awesome. Besides hitting like a mack truck I love how you get heals on kill both normal hits and with weapon art. Those bits on HP regen sure come in handy. I tried the Moonveil also (both at +9) but Blasphemous Blade does much more damage IMO...plus there's the HP regen.

Only thing now is my load weight has now gone from Med load to heavy and as a result I'm fat rolling. Is there a particular attribute level I can increase in order to get it to Med load or whatever so I can roll faster/longer distance again? I'm Astrologer build BTW.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Don’t underestimate this blade, you need it in your life and Rykard isn’t hard at beating to get it. Get this blade!! Dark moon greatsword was cool but this is better.

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

Maybe that one would scale with int since Rykard is the son of Rennala. Tanith's quest isn't complete and Rykard says a serpent never dies, so I think it's possible. A man can dream

                                                                                      • Anonymous

I am wondering whether to spec from 60 FTH into 30 FTH / 45 ARC for the godly Dragon Communion Seal scaling, but I am afraid that the damage on Taker's Flames may take too much of a hit

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Two handed pvp works well too with takers flame one shotting half the time. Just the wind up is slow but if someone is spell casting and you blast a takers flame buh bye.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

This thing still one shots me even with all of that. How much damage does this thing do?

                                                                                                • Anonymous

At 50/50/50, this weapon has one of the if not highest AR of all greatswords using their max softcaps. The only one that came ahead was the Inseparable Sword with its +80 AR weapon buff from using its WA. This makes it insanely good at powerstancing with a second copy of it, giving you 8%+80 HP back on kill with crazy jump attack damage+stagger. Equally useful with the Sword of Milos on the offhand for 5 FP on kill and its weapon art. You can lead a fight with the Shriek of Milos to inflict the AoE 15% damage buff, then back to powerstancing for the jump L1 or Taker's Flame WA. Perpetually keep yourself full HP and FP while exploring the world, while dealing damn near the highest damage you can get. 11/10 for PvE content.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Imo this is the best neutral game weapon taken at base value with no build, and one of the best faith weapons if you invest in it. Very good scaling, large heals on kills that stacks with other similar items and even larger heals solely on hits with the WA(which is applied for every target hit) with massive fire damage too.
My favorite build for this honestly is to have sword of milos in the offhand and the ancestral spirit horn for fp regen, then B blade in the main hand with taker's cameo for health. Other talismans don't matter but filigreed crest, shard of alexander, dragoncrest greatshield and fire scorpion charm are solid picks. Godskin swaddling cloth and the dew talisman are okay if you really want to max out health regen, and this also pairs nicely with rykard's great rune.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

The blasphemous blade is covered in the entrails of the people Rykard devored not thorns.
If the wepon is a reference to anything then it is most likely another Berserk one: Skull knight sword of Auction, Skull knight devours the beherits of defeated apostoles and then pulls the sword out of his mouth covered in said beherits. Literally the same as Rykard.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

I can proudly state that the Blasphemous Blade is b e t t e r... My level 95 Faith Caster was respec'd to use this. WIth a +9 Blasphemous Blade, 27 Strength / 20 Dexterity / 54 Faith (Marika's Scarseal, Radagon's Soreseal and Ritual Sword Talisman) and doing buffing with Flame, Grant Me Strength = Taker's Flames hits for over 2k. It definitely produces a glass cannon but with the heavy armor and damage reduction buffs of a Faith caster, and the ability to swap into Black Flame or Lightning Spear ranged attacks... this is just crazy devastating. Well worth the 2nd playthrough. Definitely OP AF. Stay away from it or it will ruin your experience. lol

Will powerstancing two of these double the amount of heal per kill? 8% of max HP + 80 flat HP for every enemy death would sound pretty bonkers for my tank build, alas I am afraid it doesn't work this way

I kept trying other stuff afterwards, but always came back to it. It's got better damage than Maliketh's Black Blade and swings faster too. The special ability is OP. I hope From never nerfs this wonderful sword.
