Blasphemous Blade is a Greatsword in Elden Ring. The Blasphemous Blade scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Faith and is a Weapon that deals additional fire damage.

Sacred sword of Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.
Remains of the countless heroes he has devoured writhe upon the
surface of this blade.

Now they share the same blood, bound together as family.
Some HP is restored upon defeating an enemy.

The game goes so crazy damage and health pool wise in the last 20% of the game that you can't blame anyone who relys on this weapon.

Great alternative for anyone who hasn't beaten the game yet but wants to rune farm at Mohgwyn's Palace. It's not as efficient as the Relic Sword, but you can still farm about as you would with the Relic once you get into a rhythm

This weapon makes the ruins greatsword useless… literally does so, so much more dps more and heals you at the same time!!!! in pvp I do 650 with waves of destruction (no buffs/talisman)… more like waves of weakness. while the blasphemous blade deals 1100 damage without any buffs, is a lot lot faster, and heals you !

          • If you’re looking for Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, there are 2 in the Consecrated Snowfield, 2 in the Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree and 1 in Leyndell, City of Ash. All easily accessible with not much work. If you’ve already exhausted all 8 then you will have to kill the last boss and start a new game + unfortunately. On the bright side this gives you the opportunity to stack more stats and get the talismans you didn’t get the first time around. I can tell you with max stats in strength, dexterity, faith and 4 key talismans the L2 ability his for like 3300 and some change, I think even more on some bosses.

People out here saying "it's gonna be nerfed to oblivion" a year after release without that happening. I doubt it'll get nerfed because it's a pretty important weapon for any Faith user. Fire damage that scales with Str is important because of how many endgame bosses resist or are even immune to Holy damage. Obviously it's not the only one, but it's still in that important niche.

Great sword, I got it but I guess I ruined my volcano manor quest because now volcano manor is empty after defeating Rykard. I died more on the godskin that you have to defeat just to get to there, Rykard wasn't to bad.

                • Anonymous

Pretty sure this is a reference to Skull Knight's sword from Berserk. He pulls it out of his throat like Rykard does and I remember it having wigglies on it too.

Reminder that Fromsoft is allergic to fun, even when it's offline. Enjoy this before it gets nerfed into being worthless.

                    • So which one is it?
Heals 4% of max HP + 40 flat HP on every enemy death when held, whether or not this sword killed them.
Restores 6.5% max HP upon defeating an enemy.
Somebody prolly just did a test with the same amount of health, instead of checking with different max hp.

Great weapon, taken from a great enemy. Just slayed Niall in Castle Sol with it and it felt rather pleasing after numerous attempts with my usual magma wyrn.

This is one of those weapons thats so insanely strong, it turns the user's brain into jello. If you invade a group using it, odds are they just mash the hell out of that L2, because it worked for everything else in the game, why wouldn't it work again? But once you punish the spam, their entire build falls apart and they run around like a headless chicken.

                          • If you’re ever having trouble with the game re-roll to 40 str/fai and congrats you’ve beaten everything, if you use a mimic it’s like cheating. I was having trouble on Elden beast and literally beat it first go, I smoked Radagon in about 30 seconds, he never even had a chance to attack

This probably should be obvious, but I'm still wondering; if you kill something with the weapon art, does the WA heal effect and the passive on-kill heal effect stack with one another?

                                Fowl Tarnished in gracelessness.

Carrying the Blasphemous Blade, you have committed the most serious crimes against Queen Marika and her Demigods, against the Greater Will and its Elden Ring.

I have been entrusted with putting your foolish ambitions to rest.

I King Morgott, Last of all Kings, excommunicate you, expel you, execrate you, with the blessing of our Elden Ring.

"This upgrade can be enchanted with Magic or boosted with Consumables." Is that correct or a typo error? Mine is 9+ but still cannot enchant or boost.

If you want a weapon to make the game easier I recommend this sword, just did a full run of Ng+ with this and didn't die on a single boss for the whole playthrough, only a couple fall damage deaths from jumping down to get the frenzied flame, the amount that the weapon art heals you is absurd and will make the game much easier, now to try something more challenging....

                                    • Anonymous

This sword + Taker's Cameo + Rykard's Great Rune and you basically never need to heal outside of boss fights. Killing an enemy with Taker's Flames can net you like a third of your health back in one stroke.

                                      • Anonymous

I like it and all but it's still over tuned in PvE. It undermines a lot of even tweaked out incants and that's with appropriate stat boosters while not even using the shard and a lot of other weapons too.. this thing is the mimic tear of weps

                                        • Anonymous

The weapon art on this will stagger malenia and heal you, great weapon for that fight, and if you are using a mimic with this weapon it will heal itself with the weapon art too and tend to survive allot longer which can be a huge help

                                          • Anonymous

I was running a blackflame focused faith build using Godslayer's Greatsword but hit a wall with Malenia. Kept getting awfully close... only to die in phase 2. I liked my build generally and didn't feel like respeccing just for a boss, so I checked what would work for my stats and stumbled onto this guy (I needed an extra +2 strength but got that from a helmet). Didn't do much research, but I put it to +10 and gave Malenia another shot. The weapon art absolutely melts her; beat her first try without taking a hit. Felt a bit cheap in the end, but it definitely works.

My favorite weapon in the game. And you can get it within about 2-3 hours of starting the game. The only struggle is beating the Godskin in Volcano Manor.
                                              1. Get Dectus medallion half from Fort Haight.
                                              2. Take teleporter in Limgrave to Bestial Sanctum.
                                              3. Ride to Fort Faroth and grab other half of medallion (and the Soreseal while you are here). Just run past everything don't fight.
                                              4. Take shortcut around Stormveil into Liurnia.
                                              5. Complete Rya's quest (obtain necklace from Crab Guy, get invitation to Volcano Manor from Rya).
                                              6. Ride Dectus Lift. Talk to Rya and she will teleport you to VM.
                                              7. Get key and run through VM dungeon. The only tricky part is beating the Godskin boss, use spirit ashes or summons if you need to.
                                              8. Continue to Rykard, use the Serpent Hunter to defeat Rykard.

I almost feel bad using this, it's so OP lol. Attacks deal a great amount of damage on their own, but the weapon art has great range, damage, it restores your HP and a couple of hits break almost any enemy's stance. Also every kill restores HP, insane.

                                                • Anonymous

Holy crap this thing just kicks copious amounts of ass. Taker's Flames by itself makes the weapon. Then you've got heal on kill and good straight up damage to boot. But man, the AOW is ridiculously strong. Helped me to beat Radahn without any summons, RL65

I love this sword, and I know it’s S tier atm, but I would like it to have split int/faith scaling and requirement. We only have 1 int/faith weapon atm, and it’d make a nice combo with magma sorceries and the gelmir staff.

This sword would then represent the unity between the faith of the devouring serpent and the intelligence of the carian royal roots, especially since this is Rykard’s signature weapon.

This would also make this weapon less accessible, so it’s overpowered nature would be worth it (so it would be rarer in pvp).

                                                      • Anonymous

weapon skill probably needs a slight range nerf. you should need to put yourself in harms way in order to get the healing benefits. simple risk-and-reward.

                                                        • Anonymous

does the healing ability of this weapon stacks with talismans such as taker's cameo and godskin swaddling cloth?

                                                          • Anonymous

phantom procs in pvp really need to be fixed. other players don't even need to hit you to reap insane benefits, its ridiculous.

This thing is actually kinda silly I wrecked astel by spamming the weapon art and any other boss I could come across morgot dead shade of Godfrey dead btw I punched to plus 9 before using it so that probably has something to do with it good counter against the omens too since I just did the same tactic and they couldn’t get up… man I love this weapon

                                                              • Anonymous

Fantastic weapon duo speed and dmg it does. the bit of healing might be a bonus but since most bosses at ng 7+ oneshoot you doesnt work out.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

the skill is good so is the dmg and i cant say it takes the fun away from the game but it makes it easy the only hard thing is killing fast moving boss it good in pve and okay in pvp it does not need any buff or nerf

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

I've been switching between this and Gargoyle's Blackblade on my str/faith build and I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been nerfed yet, they could straight up halve the damage and range of Taker's Flames to bring it line with Corpse Wax Cutter and it would still be viable because of the healing effect.

                                                                                • Anonymous

I'm going for a faith/dex sort of thing where I powerstance the balsphemous blade and the golden order greatsword. I've got plenty more points into faith than dex bc of the better scaling too. In my off hand, i've got the erdtree seal to swap for the golden order greatsword for the occasional incantation i.e. golden order, fgms, etc.

Awesome weapon mainly because of its great weapon art and the fact that it heals you, its weapon art has great range, does great damage to anything that's not resistant to fire damage while not using up much fp meaning its pretty spammable if you have a good amount of fp flasks and/or a decent amount of points in mind, especially if you use the carian filigreed talisman, the weapon itself isn't shabby either and does nice damage on its own, my only complaint is that it doesn't have a unique moveset, its no dealbreaker by any means but its still a shame, other than that though its an amazing weapon for pretty much any build investing in Faith, especially since it scales equally well with dex as it does with strength meaning its very good on pretty much any faith build that can afford the points in dex and strength.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Another braindead weapon that has straight-up broken AOW: absurdly high damage output, strong knockdown capabilities and huge lifesteal in one kit. If you are invaded by Reds using this sword, be very cautious, as one WA can hit like a damn train that CJ failed to follow; even if you manage to survive, a follow-up Bestial Sling can send you back to Grace real quick.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Tip: use an oil pot every time before casting "Taker's flames." Oil pots increase the next fire attack by 50% and stack multiplicity with buffs, almost doubling the damage. A great spot to farm melted mushrooms for these pots is the "Nokron, Eternal City" grace. There should he two melted mushrooms on the right, gather them then rest at the grace to repeat this cycle.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

This sword is not bad in PvP. If you have at least 80 poise, which you should on any decent PvP build, then you can easily poise through dex weapons and smash them for a winning trade every single time. Heavy armor also raises your robustness, which slows down RoB bleed spam, so that you can actually eat the first rotation and one shot them with takers flame. If you're locking on to use the weapon art, then you're doing it wrong. Run around a corner and then free aim takers flame as they follow. Unless they have ridiculous fire resistance or 60+ vigor, then they're all getting one-shot. I invaded into an instant 3 man gank, only for me to run around a corner and kill all 3 of them with taker's flame free aimed. Seeing as two of their summons had engame gear and weapons, they were most likely extremely high-level summons scaled down, and they still died instantly.

There's a reason why Giant Dad was the slayer of all dex users, and this is a direct upgrade to his weapon, thanks to the extreme range and AOE you can get on it. If you can get two of these and powerstance them with full jump attack damage boost from chest and talisman, then you can absolutely torch someone with just a single jumping L1. I only use 1 and I still smack people around like they're my tinder date.

The one thing you guys complaining about greatswords are lacking is spacing. If you don't space, then of course you're going to get obliterated by some powerstancing katana user, but hit for hit, you will far outdamage them to the point of the fight being completely one-sided.

I rock Alexander's shard, Ritual Sword Talisman, Fires scorpion charm, and then select Ritual Shield Talisman if I'm getting one-shot consistently and want to stop dying, The FP skill reduction talisman for more uses, or just another pure damage talisman like the jump attack talisman to help burst harder. Fire scorp talisman is nerfed in PvP, so you can always drop it and go for Milicent's prosthesis, if you're an irredeemable twinky monster, or rotten winged insignia if you are a decent human being.

If you're low level twinking and you aren't skilled enough at the game to beat Fire Giant at level 20-40, then you can always kill Alexander for a nerfed version of Alexander's shard. In my opinion though, you should just get good instead.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

This weapon is ridicously OP. Not only that, but out of sheer curiosity I tried using it to farm the albinaurics in Mohgwyn Palace and it's great. Using taker's flames with the two fingers heirloom and Marika's soreseal I'm able to one shot a group of 4-6 albinaurics, and the rest can be easily taken out too if you aim well. It isn't as fast as using the Sacred Relic sword's skill, but it's slightly faster than using Mohg's sacred spear or Radahn's greatswords. Overall one of the best weapons in the game in my opinion

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Powerstance blasphemous blade with flame infused iron greatsword in left hand. Swap out left hand for giant’s seal as needed. Giantsflame take thee for ranged/AOE and burn o’ flame for large enemies. Dragoncrest greatshield talisman, fire scorpion charm, shard of alexander, and claw talisman or flock’s canvas talisman. Extremely fluid, versatile and powerful build that focuses entirely on fire damage.

                                                                                                        Skill damage:

                                                                                                        1202 at +7 with 61 faith

By contrast, the Ruins Greatsword did only 247 damage at +0 and 917 damage at +9. Maybe these trolls have a fire vulnerability but still, that's insane damage, and it also heals you a huge amount per HIT, not per death, so it works on bosses.

Range seemed to be a *tiny* bit shorter than the Ruins Greatsword, but it was nearly the same. Of course this does low damage against fire-resistant enemies but overall it's just ridiculous. Also it's a greatsword, not a colossal sword, so it swings much faster one-handed and is lighter, with low requirements. Ruins does however knock down every non-colossal enemy not outright killed by it.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

If you play around proccing Frostbite, Taker's Flame is a great alternative to RoB to reset the frost status.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

The Mea Culpa from Blasphemous, Skull Knight's sword in Berserk, and I myself thought this sword could have been inspired by the Stormbringer from Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone saga. In broad strokes the Stormbringer drinks souls and gives their strength to the wielder of the blade, similar to how this sword is made up of devoured heroes and grants life to it's owner.

Maybe all these fictional blades draw inspiration from some kind of OG soul stealing sword that came from a really old ass story before all these other stories. I genuinely dont know if that's the case but its a mildly interesting thought
