If you want a build that is a true blasphemy, use this sword on lvl 150 and with 80 Int.

The healing on hit from the L2 basically guarantees that you'll win every trade a player could possibly make with you

I do think that BB is OP but I feel like people love it too much. So many top 10 weapons stuff say that it is number 1. I feel like weapons like star fist, ScS, WoA, Deaths Poker, Iron Ball, Gargoyals twinblade, Eleonoras Poleblade, Nagakiba, Greatsword, and GSGS are a bit better. (I am not counting staffs and seals as weapons and I know if I say RoB Ima get disliked, so IN PVE, ROB IS ALSO THERE. NOT FOR PVP IT IS KINDA BAD IN PVP NOW.)
- Anonymous
The noobs love it in pvp and the skilled love it in pvp, but for very different reasons.

i was facing commander niall and took me 30 tries with the deaths poker and still could not beat him, took me to tries with the blasphemous blade.

so tired of seeing this everywhere in pvp. just spam the ash of war and win. lame.

Even the Demons Souls auto regen clerics blush in the face of this Godly Sword.

why the on kill heal effect doesnt stack with powerstancing? it does stack with other weaker effects from other weapons but still its the same effect, where is logic here?
- Anonymous
everybody rants and raves about the weapon art but can we talk about the raw damage of this thing for a sec? it has almost 250 more AR than all the other greatswords on my build
- Anonymous
Look at the hue of the sword underneath the writhing tentacles, the thing is literally made of cheese

by far the easiest RL1+0 malenia i've had. went in with all blue flasks, weapon art, charged heavy attack, rinse and repeat til she's well done

It's Rykard's parasite-covered lung brush. (People that are in their 40's and older may understand, or just look up "Lung Brush commercial".)
- Anonymous
Keep in mind that it's almost impossible to land L2 on anyone in pvp, BUT are you tired of cancerous dragon breath users that turn the arena into a scarlet rot cloud? Press L2 as soon as you see them rise up, it's like cryptonite to them, hyper armor keeps you safe even if you are a bit late to counter their breath.

This sword says it deals Standard/Pierce damage, yet I cannot for the life of me figure out which of its attacks is a Piercing attack. Does anyone know?
- Anonymous
Makes almost every other weapon in the game feel terrible by comparison. It's a shame really
- Anonymous
I'd never used this weapon before, but I had some spare Somber stones to get it to +7. Even without having my stats optimal for this thing, it was tearing apart Farum Azula enemies like paper.

Use this weapon to absolutely melt whatever is in front of you. The damage on this weapon is so insane that even the fire giant (50% fire resist) can be reasonably killed with this. Unless your fighting mogh (80% fire resist) the game will be a breeze. Honestly this weapon is so overpowered that it can take away all the challenge so I would recommend using this on a subsequent play through or to survive the higher ng+ cycles.

Combine with Ordovis for solid damage and access to 3 different types of damage.

Ash of war is best used as an invader than a ganker, mostly because the latter are always togethaaaa.
- Anonymous
Do you get the passive healing if you don’t meet the fth requirement? I’ve tested it before but I forget.
- Anonymous
I almost wish this sword wasnt OP because it makes the game too easy. I won't stop using it though lol.
- Anonymous
Now that I've seen him pull it from his mouth, I don't think I want to use it. But I have to
- Anonymous
Good dragon breath counter in PvP. Doesn't work so well on the ones that can be cast while airborne unfortunately, but for normal variety dragon breaths it works fine.
- Anonymous
underrated invasion weapon, spamming it down a corridor is a sure-fire way to oneshot at least somebody

Pvers that use this weapon when being invaded be like L2 L2 L2 L2...

The Elden Beast was kicking my mage's butt. It got so bad that I started to question my competence. Did I suck at this game? Was my only hope to somehow 'git gud'? Would I make a lousy Elden Lord? Do I have bad karma from slaughtering all those Albinaurics? Should I just find a rundown shack somewhere and start selling off my merch? But then I heard a voice through a hole in the stall wall singing words that changed everything: "You gotta have faith, faith, faith...". It was a revelation. After a major respec to abandon the majority of my intelligence, I picked up my Blasphemous Blade (along with Pest Threads and a hefty shield). Before I knew it, I was fat-rolling right past Radagon and then just utterly humiliating the final boss. Elden Beast? More like Elden *****. Thank you, Blasphemous Blade!

"Blasphemous Blade cannot be enchanted using Incantations"
This isn't true. I regularly buff it with Golden Vow.

sweeps for r2 is fine bc it let's more of the little arms hug your opponent

I wish this sword wasn’t so good, I want to use it but I just feel like I’m cheating when I do

This amazing sword is the reason I don't play non-faith builds anymore.
- Anonymous
surprisingly fun to use for one of those weapons you hear as being "busted" or "insane", especially if you use it, ya know, other than just the AoW, it's a very cool weapon
- Anonymous
Now now Blastie, share some of your power with the rest of the Greatswords

This weapon's skill is pretty similar to the Vacuum Slice Ash of War, which is stated to be a "lost skill of ancient heroes" in its item description. Since the remains of the champions Rykard devoured "writhe upon the surface" of the Blasphemous Blade, I'd say that's why the Taker's Flames take the form they do. There's precedence for this with the Valiant Gargoyles, who have been "mended with corpse wax" and are therefore "a patchwork of champions." These quotes are taken from the description of the Gargoyle's Greatsword, which fittingly has Vacuum Slice as its default skill.
If you think about it, that's generally what you do with Ashes of War. You take the ashes of dead heroes and infuse your weapons with them. It probably relates back to the crucible where everything was once blended together. So if everybody was one and the same at some point in time, why not be able to take skills from others by fusing yourself or what you carry with their remains? Isn't that also similar to what you do when you turn Runes to strength?
I always liked how this kind of stuff in From's games made a surprising amount of sense if you tought about it for a while. It's not overly explicit about it, but it is rather consistent.

Go through a normal NG with this as your primary, level up reasonably smart, upgrade the weapon fully and then start NG+.
Now pass the controller to someone who has never played the game before. I cannot see them struggling.
- Anonymous
I like how this is one of the weapons thats stupid broken for PvE, but a non-issue in PvP. However an issue arises where a lot of players that use it are dumber than a bag of hammers, and pretty much defenseless because their taker flames doesn't make the bad red guy go away.
- Anonymous
Why is this not int/fth like all the lava sorcery and Rykard’s Rancor, given Rykard’s lore of being a sorcerer.
- Anonymous
I hereby announce this weapon is the most OP in PVE, you just waste everything from safe range and auto heal yourself. The AP scaling is also nuts if you max out FTH/STR.
- Anonymous
The only bad thing about this weapon is it kinda ruining the game by absolutely shredding through everything. So difficult to put away because nothing even comes close to the raw power output. 50 in strength and faith and nothing can possibly beat you.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Casuls love it because the base damage of the weapon art is really high, so your build could be total cheeks but still be able to do really good damage with the weapon art. Same thing is true for moonveil, and was true for rivers of bobo before the nerf.

Does anyone else move the camera so Blasphemous Blade is zoomed up and you watch the arms wiggle?
Wiggle wiggle wiggle

If you need any other proof that this thing is just massively OP: I just killed Malenia on my first try. I always heard about Malenia and how hard and unfair she was and then I just kill her on my furst try without even remotely learning her moves. Super disappointing. So: don't use this thing if you want real fights.

God, why does it have to have sweeping r2s. Got this on my str/fth build, was excited about finally having a good greatsword with faith scaling (not a fan of the holy damage on Ordovis), and then it has sweeping r2s. Ruined my day, genuinely. If it just had the goddamn claymore moveset, everything would be right in the world. Sweeping 1hR1s, Slamming 2hR1s, and Thrusting 1/2hR2s? It's just plain perfection. All other greatsword movesets are objectively inferior, and the only reason the claymore moveset isn't on every greatsword is because From hates fun. **** this weapon.
- Anonymous
Kinda bugs me that there's no weapons that come naturally with strength-scaling-fire damage, even though there's plenty of weapons with natural dex-scaling-lightning damage. This would have been ideal for it too, given the whole "the strong take" idea, even if it wasn't completely literal
- Anonymous
not at all the berserk's skeleton kight behelith-made sword...
also, kinda like this weapon.

New coliseum mode META. Steals life from all opponents and gives health after deaths and has phantom range across the map. People are unbearable with this weapon and L2 in a group fight.

use with sword of milos, ancestral spirit's horn, and carian filigreed crest and you get to just spam the aow over and over. I reccomend shard of alexander and fire scorpion for the other two. Fun fact, with this setup, killing 3 enemies with one aow will completely refund the cost. You'll never need to heal again.
- Anonymous
AKA the sword you use when you’re finally sick of Malenia’s BS
- Anonymous
As its ash of war sends all humanoid enemies flying, i recommend it for Malenia. I have just spammened L2 and every time she stand up, another wave of flames strucked her down. Melted in less than 30 seconds. And people call her hardest boss.

What armor and shield would yall recommend for a Flame Knight build, NG2?
- Anonymous
Weapon art dmg needs to be nerfed, but otherwise it should really stay as is, maybe even faster weapon art speed for pvp usage. The only issue this weapon has is that it heals you at the same time as you deal competitive dmg to most other offense incantations and weapon arts. Give it the trade off of noticeably less dmg would solve it immediately and make it still fun in pve while not outright broken.
- Anonymous
Did anyone take in account that this as a physical defense of 72. Two handing it before boost gives the 1.5 times the damage plus insane heals. This weapon ain't fair.

Great alternative for anyone who hasn't beaten the game yet but wants to rune farm at Mohgwyn's Palace. It's not as efficient as the Relic Sword, but you can still farm about as you would with the Relic once you get into a rhythm
- Anonymous
This weapon makes the ruins greatsword useless… literally does so, so much more dps more and heals you at the same time!!!! in pvp I do 650 with waves of destruction (no buffs/talisman)… more like waves of weakness. while the blasphemous blade deals 1100 damage without any buffs, is a lot lot faster, and heals you !
If you’re looking for Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, there are 2 in the Consecrated Snowfield, 2 in the Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree and 1 in Leyndell, City of Ash. All easily accessible with not much work. If you’ve already exhausted all 8 then you will have to kill the last boss and start a new game + unfortunately. On the bright side this gives you the opportunity to stack more stats and get the talismans you didn’t get the first time around. I can tell you with max stats in strength, dexterity, faith and 4 key talismans the L2 ability his for like 3300 and some change, I think even more on some bosses.

I need this like crazy +10 Mine is +9 no more stones, what do you want in return?

People out here saying "it's gonna be nerfed to oblivion" a year after release without that happening. I doubt it'll get nerfed because it's a pretty important weapon for any Faith user. Fire damage that scales with Str is important because of how many endgame bosses resist or are even immune to Holy damage. Obviously it's not the only one, but it's still in that important niche.
- Anonymous
Great sword, I got it but I guess I ruined my volcano manor quest because now volcano manor is empty after defeating Rykard. I died more on the godskin that you have to defeat just to get to there, Rykard wasn't to bad.
- Anonymous
I used to believe in many things. Now I believe only in bum rushing Volcano Manor to get this thing asap.
- Anonymous
looks a lot like the sword your character has in the game Blasphemous
- Anonymous
Pretty sure this is a reference to Skull Knight's sword from Berserk. He pulls it out of his throat like Rykard does and I remember it having wigglies on it too.

Wonder when Fromsoft turns this thing into oblivion like they do with anything even remotely decent.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Reminder that Fromsoft is allergic to fun, even when it's offline. Enjoy this before it gets nerfed into being worthless.
So which one is it?
Heals 4% of max HP + 40 flat HP on every enemy death when held, whether or not this sword killed them.
Restores 6.5% max HP upon defeating an enemy.
Somebody prolly just did a test with the same amount of health, instead of checking with different max hp.

This is one of those weapons thats so insanely strong, it turns the user's brain into jello. If you invade a group using it, odds are they just mash the hell out of that L2, because it worked for everything else in the game, why wouldn't it work again? But once you punish the spam, their entire build falls apart and they run around like a headless chicken.
- Anonymous
Mediocre in PvP, but game warping in PvE. I never want to be anything that can't use this weapon.

Honestly the only weapon I'd consider using the fire scorpion charm with. The damage is so high already that an extra 12% pushes it over the edge to downright stupid damage.
