Bloodhound Knight Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Bloodhound Knight:

Melee Users

When facing the Bloodhound Knight with melee, be wary of its quick, erratic and aggressive movements and be on guard to quickly reposition depending on its movements. If you've faced Bloodhound Knight Darriwill, it will have the same moveset. There is also an added Bleed effect when facing this enemy so be mindful of this meter during the fight. Even as a melee user, you may initially want to keep a distance since this enemy is packed with charging attacks and will quickly come to you, so you can take your position and await its next action to prepare for your counter attack or dodge. Be mindful when you choose to block this enemy because it may still effect your Bleed status.

Like with Dariwill, pay particular attention to the attacks where he drags his Claw or Blade on the ground dodge away and punish these attacks. These are your best openings for damage.

Magic and Ranged Users

Ranged attacks may be more challenge with this enemy because of its erratic movements.  It has a short invisible teleport that allows it to reposition closer to you very quickly and has a higher chance of dodging ranged attacks. Use Glintstone Phalanx or Carian Piercer or any quick high damage Spells for this enemy since most of the combat will be held in melee range due to his fast and aggressive approaches. When using bow weapons, use quicker Skills and avoid Skills like Mighty Shot which have a slower animation.

Bloodhound Knight Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Sword Slash Combo The Bloodhound knight will usually start by charging in with a combo where he slashes both directions and ends with a forward slash. When close by, this may even follow a very quick dash as it repositions before delivering this action.  Players can roll through these attacks and roll back for that last downward slash
Charge Uppercut A directional change to one of its basic melee attacks, dashing towards the player starting with a low blade that looks like it drags across the floor and striking upwards with the approach. This uppercut can be delivered with either its claw or weapon and may be followed by a downward swing.  This action can also be rolled through, so as much as possible roll forward to reposition behind it. Once it delivers the downward swing, there will be a brief pause to deal a set of attacks.
Bloodhound’s
Finesse
Quickly darts towards its target, becoming semi-invisible, before starting a combo. Be ready to block, but keep in mind your bleed gauge. If it is a distance away, this move can quickly put it next to your so make sure you are facing it as you block or dodge back away,

Word of warning for those who follow this page's advice and summon the demi humans - they love to spend half the fight attacking the ****ing ice snails through the boss fog wall. Stupid demi human trash.

      • Anonymous

Sorry you spent all your FP in that cave back there. Here's a dodgy quick buttrocket knight who can kill you with two hits AND bleed you! Have fun!

        • If they remain 'loyal for life' how did Darriwyl manage to betray his master? And why do they crawl on all fours? Are they some kind of lesser variant of a Shadow beast?

          • Anonymous

If you’re looking for the NON-BOSS variants of this dude, look up “Lesser Bloodhound Knight.”
That page has been updated with locations and drops as well.

Wiki is incorrect: the Bloodhound Knight set does not drop from the one in volcano manor but from the one in Gelmir Hero's Grave.

There is on of them in Raya Lucaria Academy. From Main Academy Gate site of grace go towards isolated merchant, pass him and go to the gate of academy. He's hanging on top of the gate inside the instance of Academy. He will jump at you when approached close enough or you can shoot him down.

                • I believe there is a respawning Bloodhound Knight on the road near the Isolated Merchant by the Raya Academy. Only fought him twice there so nothing to note if it drops anything.

Timed my special attack (Ash of war) bloody slash with a Lordsworn greatsword + 8. One hit takes like 1/4 th of his health pool.

Lakeside Crystal Cave Bloodhound Knight is glitch af. Summons cant be used like 40% of the time, and when they can, they either just stand in one spot, or run at the fog door. ****ing ridiculous.

I started off the battle by summoning my Clockwork Archers+3 spirit ash. I then basically rolled and dodged and maybe hit him with one or two Glinstone Pebbles. The Clockwork Archers just tore through him and took him down quickly, without much help from me.

As a melee build with power stancing 2 banished knight greatswords, it was quite easy. He has the same moveset as one of the other mini bosses in the early game, You can try baiting his teleport and 2 swings and attack right after once, and then reset to bait another teleport. Or, if you want to cheese him, roll dodge with shortbow works too. Since he's mostly on all fours, there is a high chance that the shots will land in his head. Will make the fight longer, but 200 arrows is more than enought to kill him few times over.

This guy is absolute cancer to my Zweihander build. Considering how fast his attacks and evasion are it seems a bit rough that he can poise straight through a colossal sword's jumping R2s.

I jumped down and there is no way up only to face this boss. I was only 20 at that time. Had to say bye bye to my 20000 runes. Sad!

This boss can be parried with the right timing, but with its fast motions and constant attacking it can be difficult. Much easier attacks to parry involve the knight to do a sweeping ground attack with either it's left (claw) or right (curved sword) hand weapon. To bait this attack out you do need to keep your distance. It also has a 4-hit combo that can be parried with the exception of the 4th his- which is a leaping downward attack. Another attack it does to close the distance is a leaping spin slash which can be parried, but is extremely difficult to time.

More importantly: be patient, keep at it, and may you be blessed by grace.
