Bloody Finger Okina is an Invading NPC Phantom in Elden Ring. He wields the Rivers of Blood, a unique Katana, as well as the Wakizashi in his off hand. Okina can also be available as an NPC Summon against Starscourge Radahn. He will use different moves as a summon.
The more he sharpened his mind, the more the absurdities of the world came into stark relief. And so Okina renounced it all, and rose to a higher plane. There was only himself. His katana. And its mastery.
Before long, Okina became a demon of a swordsman.

Elden Ring Bloody Finger Okina Notes & Tips
- Wields the deadly Rivers of Blood on his right hand, and the Wakizashi on his left. His armor is the White Reed Set with his signature Mask.
- His attacks apply Hemorrhage to the players when struck.
- He appears to unable to heal with a Crimson Flask, unlike most Invaders. (Needs further testing)
- Bloody Finger Okina will use the Corpse Piler skill tied to the Rivers of Blood to slash at the player with huge slashes with additional range.
- Prior to patch 1.04 this invader would not spawn if boss of the area, Fire Giant, has been killed. This issue can be fixed by updating to patch 1.04.

As a fellow Samurai. I dueled his ass for his weapon and mask.

I could care less about your rivers of blood. I came here to slaughter you for the mask. I need the drip Okina, and you don't have a say for it.
- Anonymous
Highly suggest keeping this guy alive and using him to practice your parry timing against Corpse Piler [Rivers of Blood Ash of War]. Obviously connections will differ from player to player in actual PvP, but it still gives you a great general sense of timing, and allows you to try different shields, parry-based Ashes of War, and even learn weapon-based parry windows. The alternative would be getting your friend(s) to practice with you so there's mix ups and such; mine are lame though. He drops nothing of value [Rivers of Blood & Okina Mask], and if you decide you want either of these items he will always spawn / be available to you, as long as you're on patch v1.04 or later, so you're not missing out on anything.

I ended this guy with 4 Lion's Claw. He didn't even try and dodge.
- Anonymous
I ran back to a fight between a troll and murder-bird close by, with Okina on my tail. There, I would hop, dodge and run between them, over and over again. Okina must've thought it was a fun looking game for he joined in; what a swell chap. He had one big over sight though: he never dodged!
"Okina, nooo!" I cried, while accidentally clicking on a celebratory gesture. The AoE attacks got my playful friend in the end...
Sword Dance+Guardian Swordspear made this an easy no hit win. Super easy to range him, as he approaches Sword Dance closes the distance, staggers him don’t both with the follow up he’ll roll away and just do it again.

Rot breath when he spawns then climb up on the right wall (facing the door from the grace)

While I was fighting him one of the nearby murder birds came and picked me to death

This guy still fights like actual players more than rivers of blood players lmao

Got Phalanx up before he spawned and just spammed him with Stars of Ruin while trying to back away and he went down fast

I don't want to register to modify the wiki, but, in case someone else wants to add this piece of lore:
In the cave near the ice dragon, with the multiple spirit caller snails, the snails will summon a samurai named Okina. In that cave, you can find a corpse that drops a version of the samurai set. This suggests that Okina canonically dies in that cave, and his spirit is being continually resurrected by the snails.

I like using him as parrying practice against the rivers of blood skill

For some reason this guy invaded me at Caria Manor?? My co-op partner and me killed him but got no drops. Got invaded by Okina the Cursed unless someone was Rping as him and invading
- Anonymous
If he can wield the mortal blade why dose he only die once? Yea okay miyazaki thought I would not notice?
- Anonymous
Where was this annoying guy and his sword when I was fighting Radahn? Bro died like 5 times doing minimal damage but 3 shots me? Ok then.

Hello everyone, please note that you will no longer be locked out of fighting this invader after dealing with the main boss of the area. If you were previously unable to fight this npc, just return to the spawn location and he will invade you.
- Anonymous
After patch 1.04 this npc will spawn at the church of repose even after killing the fire giant.
Vyke, Okina, & Anastasia (snowfields) already invaded me after the latest patch.
Use a bow with rot/poison. If you wait to fire right when he starts an attack animation he'll flinch interrupting the attack and usually leap backwards. Sometimes he will try to followup with a quicker attack after being hit but you can hit him again if you're keen. Always have the arrow primed, he'll get uncomfortably close waiting for you to fire and roll but be patient and only fire when you see his attack animation begin.

1.04 fixed some invasions not happening after defeating the boss of the area in Liurnia. I went to test if they fixed this one aswell and yes, finally got invaded after beating Fire Giant, so any of you who didn't get invaded because of that before can try now.
- Anonymous
Huh, he didn't spawn for me a week or so ago and now after the patch he spawned no problem. Not in NG+.
- Anonymous
Patch 1.04 seems to have fixed the issue of not spawning if the Fire Giant has been defeated.
I reloaded the area post patch and he spawned in.
- Anonymous
1.04 patch He finally spawns in game for ppl that had him bugged
- Anonymous
After the update today I was invaded by Okina even though I defeated the Fire Giant just a heads up.
- Anonymous
He will spawn if the Fire Giant is killed, at least in my game. I think something else affects it.
- Anonymous
This NPC is will now invade the player even after the Fire Giant is killed with patch 1.04.
- Anonymous
Since 1.04 he will spawn even after fire giant kill! Just got the sword now, where as he wouldn't spawn for me before!
- Anonymous
Patch 1.04 fixed this, Okina spawns almost immediately after you go to Church of Repose (notice you cannot summon Torrent)

Oh, I killed the Fire Giant before killing Okina. Why is this a thing?

He isn't spawning for me and I've never even seen the fire giant. The boss is not the cause of this bug. I read somewhere else that if you visit Farum Azula beforehand, he won't spawn. That is my new theory. Like everyone else, I'm mad.
- Anonymous
Step 1: Let him live.
Step 2: Practice parrying the weapon art.
Step 3: Wreck RoB spammers.
- Anonymous
He isn't spawning in my game... I haven't killed the the fire giant yet.
the only boss I've killed in the area is the one in Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs.

Everything people are saying about Inescapable Frenzy or rot simply did not play out that way for me. Couldn't catch him with Frenzy and he didn't stack rot at all. Swarm of Flies is where it's at.

For everyone that isn´t spawning and hasn´t killed the fire giant, it may be because of mods, the ones that mods the regulation.bin at least, I was playing with a moded regulation.bin that has my own edits, mostly added visual effects to some weapons, like permanent fire VFX effect for some weapons (not the buff, only the visual effect), faster loading times after being killed or no "ghost" effect for summons. I am not sure but most likely if something affects rivers of blood or other things related to Okina he will not spawn. I just used the original regulation.bin and he instantly spawned. BTW he isn´t that hard I guess, was using a keen Nagakiba at +23 with Unsheate ash of war with 45 dex, 40 vigor and everything else at 15 or less and he was kinda easy.
- Anonymous
This has nothing to do with a strat or a cheese..but what is that short katana in his offhand?? It’s not in game afaik
- Anonymous
Him not spawning after killing the fire gian is bullshit. How was I supposed to know that? Now I'm locked out of ROB until at least other 50 hours of gameplay? That's just bullshit >:(
- Anonymous
One good face full of Rotten Breath and all you have to do is keep your distance and block/dodge when necessary until he falls.
- Anonymous
You can't get him to summon if you've beaten the Fire giant?
- Anonymous
so i belched scarlet rot dragon breath at him, ran away around the church as he chased me til he died. Cheese for cheese.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I don't get how he goes from a guy that helps you with Radahn to an intrusive cockroach over the span of Caelid and Mountain, Corruption perhaps?
- Anonymous
he is stupidly easy to parry. it is ridiculous. 4 parries and this mother****er was dead. buckler shield hard counters this nuisance
- Anonymous
If you are as sick of this weeb as I am, BOY DO I HAVE THE CHEESE FOR YOU! If you have Inescapable frenzy, just wait for that ass to spawn and like a second after you can lock on cast it and BOOM! FRY HIS **** BRAIN TO MUSH AND RELISH IN THE FACT THAT HE'S NOW 6 FEET UNDER! Enjoy.
- Anonymous
Easiest way to beat this guy is to blast him with scarlet rot immediately as he spawns and then blocking/dodging his attacks until he dies from the DOTs. This guy enjoys long walks on the frozen beach and metric tons of bleed damage. Unless you are geared to negate bleed, you gonna have a bad time. His attacks are stupid fast.
- Anonymous
If you are melee and find him difficult. Bring heavy shield and trusting sword/spear that can poke behind shield.
Then you can turtle cheese him easy, maybe not even need trusting weapon, because many of his attack will stagger himself when blocked.
Fat roll is fine because you don't need to roll. Bleed go though shields but stacks slowly and the damage is not big.
- Anonymous
Try passing time until nightfall. Just spawned for me. Eleonora is dead on this playthrough and fire giant is still alive. Hope this helps
- Anonymous
hey so I couldn't find this guy at the church after i killed the fire giant but i did find him in the spiritcaller cave, which is even worse the slugs down here summon him so if your not fast with them you might have to fight him several times after i cleared a room of slugs I found his gear lying
- Anonymous
Should add the note that if you kill the Fire Gaint first, he doesn't spawn. So you'll have to wait to new game plus to get it.
- Anonymous
I love the Souls games but this is NOT the game to be locking invasions after you defeat the area boss... Christ almighty. This game is too ****ing big to pull that bullshit.
- Anonymous
He spawned once for me and I almost had him but a stupid giant bird attacked and killed me. Then he never respawned again.
- Anonymous
Still bugged, not invading didn't kill Fire Giant WTF bro. Same with Vyke at the Church of Inhibition.
Makes no sense that he doesn’t spawn if you kill Fire Giant, considering that boss has NOTHING to do with this NPC. FromSoftware really didn’t test a lot of the quests/events in the game. Sucks for those that missed the sword, especially now that it’s going to get nerfed and they’re not going to get to try it when it was still good. They’re going to nerf this and ruin it.
Keep your distance or die. That weapon art he pulls off is lightning fast, deals massive damage and has got some range to it.
- Anonymous
Yep, same as everyone below.. won't spawn post-fire giant...
- Anonymous
I see people saying they can't get him to spawn, maybe its tied to killing elenora as part of Yura's quest. They are both bloody fingers

All around quite easy, didn't dodge spells like other invader NPCs, and the giant crows seemed happy to toss him around a bit.
To compile what causes him not to invade; I joined the frenzied flame, did not kill the fire giant, and had found/purchased the wakizashi, which mentions him in the description.

The demon swordsman from the Land of Reeds...
in other words, the Shura of Ashina.

This is not just about fire giants being a lockout as I just went there with my new character without killing neither the fire giant nor the frost dragon and he didn't bother to show up on 1.0.3. This NPC invasion is either bugged or tied to a questline some of us are missing.

End game is broken, trying to recap to defeat the end boss and discover that this npc wont respawn lmao

I litterally went through the all map, doing almost a 100% exploration (at least as much as the maps know). I had a map so I knew he was there, I just thought I was supposed to get to the Giant and then come back from the other chain. Well, one of the only damn secret I miss is one of the strongest Katana : my main weapon style since the begining of DS... I hope they'll fix that, can't be a willing thing to lock you out of it so late in the game. 150h of run exploring every single things on the map, to loose that by wining a fight on the 2nd try is lame...
- Anonymous
So goddamn annoyed that I can't spawn him after killing Fire Giant

really dumb as hell that he stops spawning if you kill the fire giant...

I went directly to the church to kill okina, he dodnt spawn. I havent killed the fire giant, and i tried before and after killing the ice dragon. Im convinced its completely bugged.

Lure him down the hill towards the giant crow and snow giant that are fighting. Run back and forth through their battle and let the crow and giant stomp him to death. Heal as necessary while threading back and forth.

got it on first playthrough but currently on ng+ and hes not invading, maybe fire giant kill is a lockout?

Extremely easy with the Carian Phalanx sorcery. He never attempted to dodge them so after a few casts he died without ever hitting me. Just gotta keep a good distance.
- Anonymous
Or you can bait him to edge of the cliff and use the Rejection spell to push him off
- Anonymous
Of course the edgy enemy gets nerfed when he's fighting on your side lol.. (Radahn summon)

He totally destroyed me a few times with me trying defensive tactics with a Lord Sworn Great Sword+18 and a Ant Head greatshield.
After reading this page I switched to 2 handing the sword and applied some Rot grease to it, then beat him first time with that style, timing heavy hit as he runs in with quick slash follow ups, just roll back to dodge him. Don't need to switch weapons for this guy, just use your main that you're best with and apply rot or poison, was about to try levelling a fast weapon before just going at him again with my slow 2 hander I'd been using all along.
Note, I ran through first time to the grace point and he still spawned for me and dropped all his items using katana.
- Anonymous
He's suspectible to poison and rot. Killed him with +17 Estoc with rot coating. He died from rot after a bit waiting game at the end.
- Anonymous
Won’t spawn for me even though I haven’t killed the giant… does the dragon can’t as the “area boss”?
- Anonymous
parrying npc invaders in this game is a joke, especially this guy. if hes 1 hit off of being dead he'll spam his dastard weapon art even on my deceased body
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you're having problems killing this guy, switch to a faster weapon, he gets staggered easily, but it's hard to catch or trade blows with him while using a greatsword since he deals insane damage (probably because scaling on his weapon isn't broken lol)
- Anonymous
Very mad that he doesn't spawn after you kill the Fire Giant. Got all excited and can't even get the weapon. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update....
Took 15 seconds, no cheese. Godslayer's great sword weapon art stun locks him.
