Boiled Crab is a Consumable Item in Elden Ring. Most Consumables grant various effects such as restorative properties for recovering HP, removing certain negative Status Effects, or applying temporary Buffs and Debuffs, while others can be thrown at enemies to deal damage.
Boiled crab meat.
A prime specimen of plump and moist meat.
True connoisseurs know how to keep from over-salting.
Greatly boosts physical damage negation for a certain duration,
Unlike the "prawn" sold, this truly is crab. Not that it matters, it's delicious all the same.
Boiled Crab Use in Elden Ring
Boiled Crab boosts physical damage negation for a time.
- Physical Damage Negation +20%
- Duration: 60 secs
This is a Body Buff and will not stack with other buffs of the same type.
- See Buffs and Debuffs for more information on stacking buffs.
Where to find Boiled Crab in Elden Ring
- Can be purchased from Blackguard Big Boggart for
600 Runes after he has moved to the Capital Outskirts.
- Can be purchased from Twin Maiden Husks for
600 Runes after giving them Blackguard's Bell Bearing provided you have unlocked his store purchase.
- Blackguard must have moved to the Capital Outskirts before his death for the bell bearing to update its offerings.
Elden Ring Boiled Crab Notes & Tips
- You can hold up to 99 Boiled Crab.
- You can store up to 600 Boiled Crab.
- Sell Value:
50 Runes.
- Boiled Crab is a more powerful version of Boiled Prawn.
- Boiled Crab increases your current Physical Damage negation multiplicatively. It is not additive.
Good to use on an INT build if you don't include enough FTH for FGMS, as you won't be using other body buffs, besides the livers which are just elemental equivalents of Boiled Prawn, because it helps alleviate the lacklustre physical damage absorption of armours like Rogier's Spellblade set.

i killed that lowlife scum for stealing then not returning, so it is just dumb that there is no cookbook for this.
very poor game design overall, good thing I payed only 40 bucks for this.

gotta love the one salty lad in the comments downvoting pretty much everyone

Stack this with Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, Opaline Hardtear and Golden Vow. Then spam Lion's claw with a big weapon. You can trade with pretty much anything no problem.

Flame Grant Me Strength and Boiled Crab cancel each other, a pity

Either boggart boiled them in holy water & flame of ruin or you inherited the frenzied flame. Otherwise it ain't safe to eat death-rooted crab.

Combine with Acid Spraymist to make Malenia only do as much damage as a boss

I don't usually use 20% flat nerfs to content but when I do I use Boggart's trusty crabs to get the job done right.

Only really ‘discovered’ this buff on my third play through. Spent my first two treating consumables like they were precious. Now I eat boiled crab before scratching my arse
- Anonymous
Is this nerfed in pvp like every other body buff in the game?
- Anonymous
? dung eater ate his bum and now hes alive pretending like it didnt happen...
- Anonymous
You can buy these from Blackguard Big Boggart in the moat outside Leyndell. You’ll need to have bought a boiled prawn from him in Liurnia previously for him to move here though.
- Anonymous
This **** can be ridiculous - might aswell do split damage if everyone and their grandmas has perpetual 99 of these on their belt.
On paper - this makes occult affinities even worse if they don't have native bleed to make up for it.

These are a great gift for co-op partners (especially hosts) who keep dying on you. Hosts who get two- or three-shot at Godrick are pretty common, so if I get resummoned, I drop three of these for them. It's generally enough to let them eat an extra hit, which can be the line between victory and waiting to get resummoned lol

Check the status values when applying it with other buffs as it sometimes can cancel or be canceled. I discovered Fortification Incantations canceled its effect, or if I consumed the crab last, the crab erases the effect of applied fortifications.
However, it works fine with Opaline hardtear, so those two are a recommended combination.
- Anonymous
This + Dragoncrest Shield Talisman + Opaline Hardtear + Golden Vow = 60%+ phys damage negation with a medium armor.
- Anonymous
You need to farm enemies or pick up one time farm crafting materials to make madness, frostbite and rot curing consumables, and all other elemental defense buff items must crafted,
meanwhile this guy has infinite defense buff crab that isn't even debuffed in pvp...
- Anonymous
I love the idea that if you give his Bell Bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks, that they just go like "Ah for ****'s sake, now we gotta cook this ****", so they can sell it to ya.
- Anonymous
Why would you lock such a powerful item behind a dude who doesn't talk to you after you progress the game... It's not like he's hard to miss, I didn't know he existed after clearing every corner of Liurnia (or so I thought) on five characters
yeah hold on there morgott i've got some crab to eat before we fight
- Anonymous
He will live forever as he bugged out 1st playthrough, Forever in the swamp living life like Larry
My crab bro got killed by the death crab in Leyndell moat. Honestly merciful compared to what the dastardly doodoo devourer would have done to him.

does this stack with the crystal tear that increases damage negation?
- Anonymous
Can someone who has friends comment on whether this has a nerf in pvp? I’ve never felt tankier and no one I’ve fought who takes these seems any tankier. Meanwhile most defense talismans have a pvp nerf.
- Anonymous
Dont worry crab bro :) i just killed the dung eater before talking to you so you wont die.

Me: whats up my Man.
Boggart: Marika tits you must be hungry.
Me: give me the usual.
Boggart: here you go 699 crabs.
Sweet ANOTHER amazing f*kin item im locked out of, I mean who actually f*kin doesn't kill this rude trash robber on sight!? Between this and the magic scorp talisman.. I now hate this otherwise great game.
Crab is an extra 5% compared to prawn, both last 60 seconds, both cost 600 runes. Why would I ever pick prawn over crab? They're nearly identical buffs with one being outright better than the other.
- Anonymous
Odd that the number of these you can carry isn't limited like with other consumable buffs.
- Anonymous
You’re gonna end up like Rogier if you eat those crabs. They are infected with death blight and have the prince of deaths face growing on their backs. Take a look for yourself. Directly below that lake is the prince of deaths body. Miyazaki knew what he was doing when he put a shady crab vendor there. Everyone talks about Miquella or arena DLC but I know Miyazaki is hard at work on a death blight swamp DLC and you bet there’s gonna be consequences for eating crabs Who Live in Death from an escaped convict who is loathsome enough to do time with the Dung Eater.

You need to buy some of the other food before, that will unlock a new dialogue, since he likes you more when you buy more. After that, he will spawn at the outskirts of Leyndell (near the spot, where dung eater invades you/want you to invade) - you can click through his dialogue again, reload and find him there... (he ask for a fast dead and don't want to be abused by dung eater later on, so I killed him after a few seconds, so he can "be free" - and he dropped the bell bearing).

I’m confident this is nerfed in pvp, like the shield talismans. Never noticed opponents who use it were any tanker than before. I began using it on my tank and it seemed to do nothing. Meanwhile, I began using holy ground instead which gives 20% abs boost and I was noticeably stronger in duels.

Monch on some crab, slap on the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, and suddenly Godfrey's looking tame. Boggart knows his shite.

You need to buy the necklace from him first to be able to buy the prawn or crab.
- Anonymous
You cannot purchase these from twinhisks after trading his bell bearing. False
- Anonymous
Tested it so far, doesn't stack with Golden Vow. Not the incantation nor the Ash of war
- Anonymous
Did some testing to see what buffs can be stacked alongside this. You can have a Boiled Crab active for Physical Damage reduction, as well as Pickled Turtle Meat for Stam Regen, Bestial Vitality or the HP Regen Crystal Tear to Heal HP per second, and even the Opaline Hard Tear to reduce elemental damage and they all stack. Throwing on any 'Fortification' spell like Flame or Magic Fortification will overwrite the physical resistance from Boiled Crab unfortunately. Unsure if the 'Blessing' Spells would stack just like Bestial Vitality since they share a similar HP Regen effect, but it seems like they would.

I don't know if this happened to anybody else, but be aware a lot of my bell bearings (items for sale) disappeared after repenting my sins at the church of vows from the twin maiden husks shop.
- Anonymous
Stacks with Rallying Standard. For a short time with the right combination of buffs you can have very high physical defense with this stuff. Praise the Crab!

The #1 thing I spend my runes on after hitting level 150 haha

Should probably have bought the necklace before I murdered him his bell bearing doesn't sell anything but the necklace now

If you wanna be a tanky fellow, you gotta get a whole buncha this delicious stuff right here. With good armor, dragoncrest talisman, and a nice chomp of this stuff, you can half any incoming physical damage. Pair this up with the Opaline Hard Tear in your physick to buff your elemental defenses, and you become one seriously tanky MF.

does this work also in pvp or is it nerfed like the dragoncrest greatshield talisman?

You can buy 685 pieces of boiled crab with 411000 runes. Don't ask me how I know that.
- Anonymous
Does anyone knows if the % is nerfed in pvp like some talismans?
- Anonymous
Damn, this item actually looks so damn tasty I can even smell it from my screen !
- Anonymous
Do keep in mind that if you murderize blackguard when you first meet him his bell won't have these on them, you need to follow his questline to the point where he stocks these before you can get them.

So this can offset the incoming dmg increase penalty from soreseals?

Crayfish/lobster. I like to imagine its the offspring of the giant ones and blackguard is culling their population so they don't take over the world

This stacks with the golden vow spell. Combine these two with heavy armor and the physick tear that lowers equip load and you can light roll with 60% physical absorption for 3 minutes. Wow.
- Anonymous
Lasts a full 60 seconds, same with boiled prawn
looks like this is an upgrade to the prawn with no downsides
Honestly this item is wonderful for the def boost and it only costs 600 souls. 20% doesn't seem like much but the difference is visible. I still use it for end-game and 600 souls is nothing
- Anonymous
So basically a consumable version of Black Flame Protection? Neat, given it costs 600 runes. And you can carry like 99 of them at a time.
- Anonymous
Just tested, this stacks with buffs like Golden Vow. My character, 0 buffs, +1 Dragoncrest Shield Talisman: 36 phys def + Golden Vow -> 43 phys def + Boiled Crab -> 54 phys def.
- Anonymous
Protection of the Erdtree canceles out the effect of the Boiled Crab
- Anonymous
Boiled Crab will stack with: "Golden Vow"
Boiled Crab will NOT Stack with: "Black Flame's Protection", "Flame, Grant Me Strength" or any of the element protection spells (Like, Magic and Flame Fortification or Protection of the Erdtree)
(So it's basically your "I don't do magic." alternative for a quick defense buff.)

Does this crab stack with prawns?
If I eat both, do I get 0.8 * 0.85 = 0.68 damage? (that is almost 1/3rd damage less received!)
Or one replaces another?
- Anonymous
"Unlike the "prawn" sold, this truly is crab." What does it mean? What is the "prawn" actually made of?
- Anonymous
Does this stack with spell, perfume, or weapon buffs? The "iron flesh" perfume, dragonskin "faith based iron flesh" incantation, or the couple of ashes that boost AR/DEF?
- Anonymous
I bought about 200 of these when they became available, handed a friend 50, and then ran out and bought another 300 before I beat the game. Pretty alright. Watch out for it conflicting with other defensive buffs though.

Boiled Prawns and Crab meat, they are adding actual foods into the game instead of chugging Sunny D and eating moss fruit for sustenance.

Absolute no-brainer. Bought over 100 as soon as I got the option, sold my boiled prawns
super mean in low level pvp, eating sword hit after sword hit and taking next to no damage
