Elden Ring Carian Phalanx Guide

  • Carian Sorcery
    • Can be boosted by the Carian Gintblade Staff.
  • Stamina Cost: 16
  • Deals magic damage
    • Each individual gintblade deals (Sorcery Scaling x 0.48) magic damage.
    • Fires 9 gintblades for a total of (Sorcery Scaling x 4.32) magic damage.
  • Features an additional four blades over the base Glintblade Phalanx spell, offering more damage, as well as damage to an enemy's stance.
  • Phalanx spells are a good way for mages to whittle down an enemy's stance.
  • The blades will break upon coming into contact with any geometry, including enemies. This unfortunately means one cannot prep themselves with phalanx before passing through a boss fog gate, and must take care after casting to not accidentally break the blades on any surfaces to not waste any damage.
  • NOTE: Since Patch 1.07 FP Consumption has been Decreased from 26 to 24.

I don't know why but this spell does too little damage even on my pure int build with the glintblade staff. Looks cool, but I rarely use it.

I noticed a weird albeit rare bug with this while farming, sometimes the first few blades will make the target do a flinch animation, this can be enough jiggle for the rest of the projectile to complete miss

          Carian Phalanx vs Greatblade Phalanx

Carian phalanx: Cheaper fp cost, faster casting time and more dmg at high intelligence levels
Greatblade phalanx: Slighly more fp cost, slower casting time and less dmg if you are at high level, otherwise it has more poise dmg to enemies.

I personally prefer carian phalanx, I think is better for pure casters, who don't need to stagger enemies quite much as big melee users, but if you are at lower level maybe greatblades will do more dmg for you.

Although it doesn't do stance damage as much as greatblade phalanx but the casting time is less and deals more damage than greatblade. I use dark moon blade so I'll eventually cause poise damage anyway

Am I missing something? Greatblade phalanx deals more damage than this, more poise break, and costs less fp.

For those wondering, this was made to slay Black Knife assassins. #AssassinsBane is what it should be called.

quite easily one of the best anti-caster tools, mostly useful in PvP against those who rely too much on spamming magic attacks and/or skills, simply because they usually get damage while being locked in casting animation for at least 1/3 of their hp.

Ridiculous that this spell does less damage than Glintblade Phalanx. It's supposed to be an upgrade, and yet the only thing that's higher is the FP cost.

I used this spell at 226 sorc scaling and it does less than glintstone phalanx... yet costs more. Please buff From

You can use these to auto-target the invisible bugs. They will fire when you get close, just line it up appropriately.

Only fires at targets in front of you. For an unpredictable attack, back up into your target and 180 towards them to release.

What's supposed to be a direct upgrade to glintblade phalanx is instead the objectively worse option. It uses more mana, summons more blades, but deals less stance damage. Where i can break a giants poise in 2 uses of the glintblade phalanx, i could not break the giants poise using carian phalanx no matter how many times i summoned it.

People say these suck but they've saved my ass from so many ambushes in dungeons. Sure the damage isn't great, but they will auto target and attack hidden enemies around corners and on ceilings. A total lifesaver.

Dogshit damage and dogshit stance damage. Amazing against enemies with low poise that get staggered easy although since it gives you a free hit cause they flinched from the spell, but if you are encountering an enemy with high poise like 90% of all bosses. Using this is useless.

For whatever reason, you don't need to return to him. If you grab his bell bearing and turn it into the Roundtable vendor, you'll be able to buy the spells

Carian Phalanx can be bought by Preceptor Seluvis for 12000 runes and the only way to grab the spell is if you accepted Renna's quest and completed his quest to give Nepheli drink a potion (giving to her or not), he's located in three sisters in Seluvis's Rise. https://imgur.com/a/hczamxF

Tested Greatblade Phalanx 678 damage, Carian Phalanx 774 against the assassin dude right before before Royal knight Loretta at 67 int with Lusat's staff +5.
Considering Carian is only 26 PF and Greatblade Is 43 FP, definitely Swap for Carian Phalanx if you are wondering which one Is better.
