Cleanrot Spear is a Spear in Elden Ring. The Cleanrot Spear scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith and is a good Weapon for Faith based fighters.
Spear of the Cleanrot Knights who fought alongside Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
The winged golden blade deals holy damage. The diminutive shield is blessed with an incantation that wards off rot.
Where to Find Cleanrot Spear in Elden Ring

- Drops from the spear-wielding Lesser Cleanrot Knights just south of the Heart of Aeonia by Commander O'Neil (very low drop rate).

"The diminutive shield" is also blessed against Kick skill. Really, Cleanrot Knights wielding these spears are THE ONLY guarding enemies in the entire game whose guard cannot be broken with a single kick (not sure about the ones in the swamp, but it's definitely true for the ones in Haligtree). It's kinda ironic, since all knights with tower shields can be easily riposted after just one successful kick.

This, Mushroom set and Ant's Skull plate for outings to the Lake of Rot...

I leveled up 4 times before I got it. Hard to say if that's good or bad as a result.
- Anonymous
should have higher than normal guard boost since the cleanrot knights will literally block a nuke with it

Not an amazing weapon but the ash of war does have some fun combo potential in pvp thanks to the delay on the spears. Urumi R2 true combos into it as well as a lot of spells.
After setting up my route from one grace to another, marking all their locations as well as the halo scythe enemies, on the first round, the forth one dropped me this spear. On my way to the grace, well there was one in my way, why not kill it? And so he dropped me another one. Two in a row. Good luck to you guys, my tip would be:
-Find every item you want to get (the % drop items) and respec everything into arcane, farm some Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot and get Silver Scarab medallion.
-Start farming
-???
-Profit

Will someone trade me this? I will give you cleanrot scythe at +9 and sword at + 25. Also, three cleanrot sets. If so, meet me at Haligtree roots sight of grace.
At +10, with maxed faith, strength and dexterity, having the Alexander Shard + Holy Scorpion talisman, you will only be granted a total of 2300~dmg.
As most enemies and bosses in the game are holy resistant, the weapon actually only deal between 700 to 1400 dmg depending on your journey.
This weapon is not worth the trouble pve wise, you can either use it to fight undead (even then, there are better options available) or just farm it for the sake of having it.

i could make the spear from scratch with the amount of lily's i got from this

It'd be cool if pairing it with the cleanrot knight's sword allowed you to block the same way the cleanrot knights did, hell, maybe even something like timing a "perfect block" could give you the same retaliatory pulse that the cleanrot knights do when you attack them while they're guarding, like an Erdtree Greatshield effect but for melee.
does the guy in front of prayer room not drop it or does the weapon simply not exist
- Anonymous
The skill is really cool, just wish it had a longer range to make it better. It's just far too short for my liking.
- Anonymous
I wish the game let you do the cross-block/retaliation move the Cleanrots have
The double stab R2 has got to be one of the worst R2’s in this game. Can’t poise break for ****, it’s slow, and has terrible tracking. A cool weapon art wasted on a terrible moveset
- Anonymous
I just spent a couple of hours farming this for my new character. No silver fowl foot or scarab. I used the Grace site just south of the bottom right night shown on the map picture on this page. I would just run from that grace site to where that knight spawned, burst him down with Catch Flame (you start with it as prophet) as he climbed out of the water and he was dead by the time he could stand. Fast travel to the grace site and repeat.
I don't like the spawn/Grace site shown on this page because following the route outlined here brings you in the path of Millicent and if you want the armor in the early game you have to either avoid that entire area or deal with her in a lake of rot which is annoying.
After my farm I had a bunch of the swords and about two and a half sets of the armor, and two spears.
- Anonymous
It’s simply not worth farming for. I cannot emphasize that enough. It’s a good offhand weapon (exactly how the cleanrots use it) and the L2 is situationally useful for buffing/healing mid combat. But it gets old fast and you’ll be out performed by anyone with a thrust sword and be suffocated by meta slaves spamming heavy thrust swords. You are slower, do less damage, have less range and do less poise damage than the all too popular epee. And stitcher is even longer than epee. And bloody helice is longer still. I really believe heavy thrust swords should have identical damage/stagger as spears for obvious reasons.

Reading all these comments, I was dreading having to farm this. But I kid you not, I got the spear from the very first Cleanrot Knight I encountered. I feel so blessed, but I have a feeling farming for the Cleanrot set will be awful.

6 cleanrot swords, 12 cleanrot helmets, 2 cleanrot chestplates, 6 cleanrot gloves (aor whatever they are called), and 4 cleanrot greaves before dropping it. I spent hours killing the knights, but I got it.
It's cool, such a shame holy damage is bad in this game.

Here’s a good way to farm for the spear at the Heart of Aeonia grace, doing it quickly is important since the knights patrol the area:
- Right after standing up from grace, hop on torrent, use a silver pickled fowl foot, and head directly west. Right when you pass the first tree branch there’ll be the first knight.
- After that one, ride torrent southwest where knight #2 is. While you take care of them, #3 will rise from the swamp directly next to you.
- Ride torrent east now to find knight #4, this will be the only knight to see you coming so be alert if you’re squishy. Take it out and head a short ways southeast between the two circular land(?) masses where knight #5 will slowly rise from.
- Hop on torrent again and head northeast, knight #6 will rise from the middle of the clearing. Then ride torrent northwest, hop up the branches to get right back to the site of grace to rest and start again.
If you can kill knights in 1-2 attacks, the cycle of 6 knights three times will roughly last the duration of your discovery buff, at around 18 knights per silver foot.
Happy hunting!

Took me about 50 kills to get. The easiest one to farm at lower levels is the sleeping one, directly north and slightly west of southern aeonia swamp bank site of grace. You can fight it solo and stand on the tree trunk to avoid rot, if you approach from the east and don't aggro the other wandering ones - then it's an easy fast travel back to the grace to reset. Took a while, but slap an album on and zone out. It's worth it for this rare and drippy faith spear. A nice direct upgrade from the prophets starting spear, combined with the same unique R2 and a fun ash of war. I farmed this at level 35 with no upgrades, and yoinked the 1h sword along the way. Happy poking!

It's very much worth getting the silver scarab talisman before attempting to farm for this. I spent hours trying with high arcane, pickled feet and no luck. After getting the scarab, it only took about 20 minutes. I tried to leave a message of joy and encouragement for others but got scarlet rot while choosing my words and died. But I died happy, clutching my spear!

Almost 2 hours in... Still nothing, 324 discovery, 20+ of each armor piece yet still no spear
I guess I used up my luck when I got the Noble's sword in 20 minutes lol

The R2 hits like an Airstrike, wish it had a unique powerstance with the other rotknight weapons though

The 2nd instance of the L2 is still bugged and not buffed by Shard of Alexander

Finally! After 1,5 hours, 15 swords, 14 helms, 10 armors, 14 gauntlets, 8 greaves and a bunch of flowers. I got it at the prayer room. Thank you all for supporting me.

Someone dropped one of these randomly for me.
I had to restart on a brand new account because my old one got permabanned . I'd platinumed the game & was level 300ish
Now I'm a stank newbie , with nothing again. I had so many stacks of souls I'd give to people I was helping on my old account
How good is this spear now? Post update? I was a str/faith build predominantly using lightning before
- Anonymous
A dropped ball for This weapon, it’s unique appearance and that mob that drops it would indicate that it should have a block strong attack like the Carian Knight Sword has. Really bummed it doesn’t

I know you gonna hate me for this, but i have around 20 of these because the farming dude is my test dummy for new builds and waiting for online content via far grace system. Embrace the farming

206 discovery and farmed 475k runes at the prayer room, finally got one

Just got it on MY SECOND TRY at Prayer Room, good luck to everyone else, I’m out, have fun with your conniptions

About 134 kills, or 1.6M runes, at the Prayer Room grace to get this. 197 discovery.

Everyone talking about the lack of powerstance. I'm wondering why the AoW doesn't work the same way the Death Poker's AoW does, one input for long ranged line, another for short range AoE. Feels like FS really dropped the ball on some of these weapons.
- Anonymous
Mediocre scaling, mediocre damage. Aow is horizontally, scales off faith, apparently. Doesnt powerstance with cleanrot Sword, same goes for the scythe.

Some please trade me this ill give you 2 halo scythes and full cleanrot set

I can confirm that the fella outside the prayer room does drop the Cleanrot Spear, but the chance appears to be much lower than for the other drops. I pillaged literally three full armor sets and five swords before I got the spear.
- Anonymous
193 discovery, got the clearot spear on my first try in Prayer Room... it felt like I won the lottery O_O
(Before that, I was farming the Celebran's Rib Rake in Windmill Village for about 2 hours before it dropped...)

I sound like a bad person but I've had amazing drop rates with Cleanrot Knights in the past. I've used their armor for 3 different playthroughs and weapons for 2 different playthroughs, and to get the full Cleanrot Knight build, it took me less than 20 minutes each time. Swamp of Aeonia has a ton of these buggers, and once you learn the maximal efficiency path to kill as many in as little time as possible, it's amazing.
- Anonymous
Been looking for this for a lighting build I have in mind using all the different lighting spells. Just need this and the black lighting spells and I got it done

Yeah sure the last 3 times I farmed for the spear it took at least 1 hour for one to drop, now I farm for the rapier and the spear drops on my second try. I'm still using it though because it's ****ing gorgeous.
- Anonymous
aow shouldve been the forward attack that the knights do rather than the defensive side to side wave, along with d faith scaling and no special interactions with the cleanrot sword, this weapon is really sadly disappointing
- Anonymous
if this spear could have a power stance with the cleanrot sword and/or have a special block counter/parry like the knights have i would love it to death seeing as i love spears and thrusting weapons but overall it’s not that good of a weapon and there are better spears if you’re looking for one
- Anonymous
Just got one from the knight outside the prayer room grace. The drop rate definitely feels bugged, I got 2 swords and 4 armor sets from the knight before a spear dropped. I did some farming for it in caelid a few days ago too but I don’t remember how many armor sets/swords I got before I gave up.
- Anonymous
So:
-No powerstance with Cleanrot Sword
-No special block with the buckler
-Phalanx should’ve shot forward, as right now the range is abysmal
-Scaling could’ve been way better
- Anonymous
Got one with 185 discovery on 3rd try with blasphemous blade

south of the heart of aeonia grace you can find 3 clean rot knight scattered around this is probably the best method got one under 20 mins with this

The only place worth farming for the cleanrot weapons I've seen is in the shaded castle heading up to the boss room theres 2 cleanrot knights wielding the scythe and spear with the spear wielding one being right below the elevator leading to the boss room i got multiple spears with little effort and the scythe only took 3 tries to get
- Anonymous
130 knights outside of the prayer room at 324 item discovery and still no spear

After 2,6 million runes, multiple armor sets and swords I'm convinced that this weapon is a troll and doesn’t even exist.

Got one on 7th kill in Aeonia along with almost full set and scythe/2 swords. 184 disc. + silver foot. I also read another comment saying they used a spear and got one quicker... It also worked for me. Read a few more saying something similar.
Stupid thought but here it is.
It would have been cool if at the end of Patches' questline, he sold you a rotten version of the Cleanrot spear that applied rot buildup, dealt magic damage, and had a gravitational knockup effect added to Sacred Phalanx. At the same time, I feel like this would be just too good. Likely scaling off four stats (Strength, Dex, Faith, and Intelligence), dealing three different types of damage (Physical, magic, and holy), rot buildup, and a posture breaker (Knockup skill) all in a 5.5 weight spear is insanely broken on paper.
It's a bummer that we don't have any weapons obtained from the beaches of Caelid that were influenced by Radahn's long-term persistent use of gravity magic, other than the Cleanrot spears you can buy from Enia and use as arrows.
Just a little thing but I wish it had better blocking stats seeing that it has a small buckler on it. It just seems to be about as good as other spears for blocking.

4-5 kills outside Prayer Room with 112 discovery. Gotta be the luckiest mofo out there
- Anonymous
Pssst, don't tell anyone but the weapon art true combos into wrath of gold
- Anonymous
If you haven't defeated Niall yet, you can run SE from Inner Aeonia site of grace through his arena and over the roots in the back. It seems like the knights that normally wake up back there stay down if you're in the Niall fight. This made it a lot easier on my level 20 character, got it after about an hour of killing the five sleeping knights there.
- Anonymous
They did this weapon skill really dirty; it doesn't really feel utilized very well from the player compared to the Cleanrot Knights, they're able to launch a straight path of that skill but we only get to do it horizontally? The starting animation feels very slow and it leaves you wide open for attacks, they need to buff this skill
- Anonymous
I find it disappointing that you can't powerstance the cleanrot spear/halo scythe and the cleanrot sword; and I find this weapon's AoW really weird since it's such an awkward mix of both the cleanrot knights' long and short range phalanx attacks. plsman I just want the long range phalanx :(
- Anonymous
I'm so lucky xD I got it from the first cleanrot I killed in Castle in Shaded Castle where you get the Valkyrie prostesis on my new Dex Faith character, damn that weapon is perfectly suited for me
- Anonymous
There are 11 cleanrot knights easily found near heart of aeonia grace. Drag great sword until you hear contact, let go and watch them die. Great mid level xp too. You’re welcome.
- Anonymous
Farming weapons is human torture in this game this and grave scythe are the worst farms I’ve had.
- Anonymous
I know you guys are farming hard for this because I keep getting message approvals for “knight ahead” on all their secret spawn locations in Aeonia. There’s two sleeping next to the one who seems alone but they don’t ever come out unless you hit them. There’s two in two different tiny puddles right next to another one who seems alone and they don’t come out unless you walk right on them literally. There’s like 7 or 8 spear knights there, maybe even more.
- Anonymous
Got this spear outside prayer room grace. 45 Arc, Silver Scarab, 220 Disc. 15 kills
- Anonymous
It's literally a defensive spear with a buckler but it has some of the worst damage reduction in the game. That's strangely disappointing.
- Anonymous
I have four of these things. Four. What do I do with four of them? Make a collection???
- Anonymous
TLDR: It's a nice weapon, but not worth grinding for unless you really want the skill.
The skill looks dope and the 2-hit charge attack is fun. It shares the short spear moveset, so try that out instead if you like the moveset, but don't care for the skill.
Scaling is a bit weird. The weapon itself benefits more from a quality build than faith. The skill hits twice with the 1st part scaling off your ar, and the 2nd part only using faith. I'm running it on my clawmark caster (45 str/22 dex/ 45 faith) with decent results.
Alexander shard and some holy damage make the skill pretty good in pve, though a bit slow. It probably won't land in pvp unless you catch people off guard. The bright side is that this is a fairly uncommon weapon due to its mediocrity and difficulty to farm so that can happen more often than you think.
If you're looking at just damage, it's outclassed by a sacred naginata, but that thing beats every spear on every build, so no surprises there.
2 and a half hours. I can build an entire army of Cleanrot knights, have 'em each wield Cleanrot swords like Killer B and not a single mudafuggin' spear.
- Anonymous
This is so rare I wasn't aware it actually existed, i'm on my 9th playthrough if i counted correctly.
- Anonymous
Cleanrot Knight's Sword, anyone? How about a dozen sets of Cleanrot Knight armor? BTW there are 9 CKs wielding spears in Aonia Swamp as far as I can tell. I didn't count the ones with scythes, there may be 3 or 4
- Anonymous
I literally got 2 and the cleanrot knight set under 20 minutes. Farmed the one near prayer room. Used starcaller cry with +10 starscourge greatsword, silver scarab talisman and the silver tear mask. I was probably just lucky though.
- Anonymous
From my own farming, im pretty sure there are 5 spear wielding knights in the heart of the swamp. 2 are lying down by the root where Millicent invades (in the open between two roots, the other behind the large root that the patrolling knight moves along), 1 in the u shaped rot obstacle (another patrolling knight circles it), and 2 more amongst the 5 knights lying down nearest to the rings of light ash of war (the spearmen are the first two that stand up when you approach).
- Anonymous
There are only TWO Cleanrot Knights in Aeonia swamp. They are located close to the Heart of Aeonia site of grace and both are in the rot fluid, so you have to trigger them. The first one is located Southeast of the SoG a little off the shore dead center between the trees. The second one is Southwest of the first knight, by a fallen branch/tree. I was grinding for about an hour clearing all of them until I noticed it was only those two with the spear at 200 discovery, but it took maybe 5-15 minutes once I started only killing those two and reset.
- Anonymous
Someone mentioned killing cleanrot knight(spear knight) with a spear to get it, I decided to try it out with Silurias Tree Spear +9 I got it. It was at the Prayer Room bonfire in Haligtree. I'm sure I killed him around 9 times or so, coincidence maybe but I swear it took less than 13 kills. Mind you I killed him like 50+ times yesterday in the same spot and got everything but the spear. I got a screenshot and everything, give it a try!
- Anonymous
Godslayer Greatsword is great for farming cleanrot knights for this, it staggers the one at Prayer room and the combo kills the knight at 50 faith, 45 Dex, and 35 strength, the spear itself is really good and the R2 can rollcatch people in PVP
- Anonymous
If you kill O’Neil there are 5-7 knights around his area you can clear out pretty easily(The Aeonia Swamp area). In under an hour I got their sword, almost 2 full sets, 2 spears and one scythe from farming them. Not to mention they’re a pretty alright soul farm if you have the gold beetle talisman.
- Anonymous
10 of the knights spawn around the Heart of Aeonia grace and make for a pretty quick farming location, I finally got one after getting 4 scythes and 10 swords (203 discovery)
- Anonymous
At the Prayer Site grace you can just use rivers of blood skill through the wall. Easiest farming ever. Sadly enough, the drops are still horrible, as I spend hours to get the halo scythe, ending up with several full armor sets and 20+ swords, haven't seen a spear yet. Don't give up, skeleton!

Im surprised no one talks about this weapon. The ash of war is super cool and while the weapon isn't amazing, it still does enough damage to be viable.
