Colosseum is a Free DLC released for Elden Ring on December 7th, 2022. It opens up the three previously inaccessible Colosseums located in Limgrave, Caelid and Leyndell. Players will be able to access them to engage in battle in new and diverse modes. Duels, free-for-alls and team fights are many of the modes available in the Colosseums for up to 6 players.

  • See Patch Notes for details on balancing changes that accompany the Colosseum Arena DLC.

Colosseum Update Information

The Colosseum DLC is free and available on all platforms for all players. Given the changes introduced to balancing in Patch 1.07.1, PvP and PvE balancing are now different, allowing for the arenas to open and introduce new game modes.

Players can expect some additional content with the arenas, but it is expected that it will behave much like the Hollow Arena in Dark Souls 3.

PvP Colosseums - The Colosseum doors open for the first time to reveal a new challenge, unlocking three new arenas. Located in Limgrave, Caelid and Leyndell, each arena comes with its own sets of rules and will be theatres of fierce Player versus Player confrontations.

The Limgrave Colosseum features two modes: United Combat and Combat Ordeal.

  • In United Combat, combatants will be divided into two teams to fight in timed battles with the ability to respawn. Each death and respawn grants points to the adversaries, offering victory to the team with the higher score.
  • In Combat Ordeal, it’s every Tarnished for themselves. Combatants in this mode can also respawn until the timer hits zero, and the one with the most points will prevail as victor.

The Royal Colosseum, located in Leyndell, features Duel Mode. Two Tarnished face off in a duel to the death, and without the ability to respawn.

The Caelid Colosseum features all aforementioned modes with the addition of being able to summon Spirit Ashes to fight by players’ sides. Only combats held at the Caelid Colosseum allow the use of Spirit Ashes.

Join the fight on your own or use group passwords to match up with or against friends, and prove your worth in the Colosseums!

Cosmetics – Five new hairstyles also await players returning to their adventure in ELDEN RING or taking on the new challenges in the Colosseums.

How to Activate the Colosseums in Elden Ring

Reddit Fight Clubs > Arena for 2 simple reasons. In arena phantom status effect hits reward the inferior player and stalemates will regularly count as a loss.

      • Anonymous

The 2 Major issues that just simply cannot be overlooked. 1. Phantom status effect hits should not exist and HAVE to be fixed I could care less what it takes to program it, it literally HAS to be addressed it's just an unfair advantage for players who are poor at roll catching and then punishes the players who actually iframe properly. 2. Stalemates ending in losses based off your death animation? In a ranking based Arena? LOL I don't even need to explain myself on that one. Simply just braindead programming there. If we trade it should ALWAYS be a stalemate REGARDLESS of the death animation. Although this may just seem like ranting which partially it is, I genuinely believe if they fix these 2 problems it creates alot more balance to arena.

Does anyone know if this follows the same coop/invasion range matchmaking or is it just anyone over level 80? Seems like a strange requirement, especially since the first colluseum is in Limgrave.

The only good thing in this update was the new hair styles. A whole ass pvp mode that rewards you with nothing. Much like every other form of multi-player in this game. Where are the covenants? Yknow, those things that made multi-player so fun in the other games?

            • Anonymous

I play at RL150 and feel like getting Rank 5 in Duels wasn't all that hard, and my build is fairly simple (STR/FTH - Colossal sword, Golden Land AoW, Erdtree Greatshield, Elden Stars, Golden Vow). Wonder what the exact ranking system is? I do win a lot but also lose/stalemate my fair share.

Additionally feel From should've at least given us a Rune Arc or something as a reward for jumping rank or getting a win streak to make it more incentivized. Still lots of fun either way

Only active gamemode is duels, and its the same 5 sweatlords over and over. Sometimes you'll get a fun off-meta fight without someone sweating through their asscheeks to win in an unranked game.

                • Anonymous

I was wondering if there was any benefit to winning these but nope, just a shiny PNG. So many tryhards out there sweating in their full bull-goats, spamming spells n' **** for nothing. Hilarious.

6 months later and its already dead. Fromsoft is quite possibly the most incompetent triple A developer when it comes to netplay.

                    • Anonymous

Fromsoftware needs to fix their hitboxes and servers.... I'm not lying when I say that for 1/3 of my death the weapon isn't making contact with me, and in some cases there is a good 50cm between me and the blade of the opponent -_-

                      • Anonymous

                        Havent touched pvp since DkS1.

Until FromSoft learns how to code proper net code I'm not taking part in that cheese-off.

If you're in united combat and you're versing magic users, disconnect immediately they don't deserve that win.

                          • Anonymous

there is no item in the game that cant be overcome with a basic understanding of pvp. There is nothing in lyndell which would make you suck any less

                            • Anonymous

I personally say this is the worst update yet, adds practically nothing to the game, you gain nothing out of it, and now no one invades which was the most fun way to get runes, not to mention the ridiculous nerf that was brought with the update, inescapable frenzy doing half health or less when it has like 3 enemies in the entire game it can be used on, other than players, takes forever to try to land, can be avoided due to point blank range and is easy to be staggered out of it, worthless update all in all, not to mention its not a dlc

                              • Anonymous

I wish it offered a melee only option. There is always someone throwing magic from across the arena when your squaring off with the others.

                                • Anonymous

pls do that when a player choose to start matchmaking he will need to build himself an arena stats with only 300 levels that way all players in the arena will always be only lvl 300 then it doesnt matter whats the lvl gap when you start matchmaking

                                  • Anonymous

This update desperately shouts for a pvp build creator. There are so many things I'd love to try but the game is simply too long to start that many builds. Either make the ancient dragon stones farmable so that we can completely remake our completed characters once we want something new, or give us a PvP character setup for arena usage only that generates the stuff you want

                                    • Anonymous

This page needs updating. How does the ranking system work exactly? And there is no mention of flask replenishment in united combat. There is also no info on matchmaking ranges and scaling. This needs to be here, because the news articles are useless like always

                                      • Anonymous

Is there any way to leave a combat if you got matched against a sweaty tryhard that cheesed through half the game to beat lvl 25 players with equipment and 3 buffs from leyndell?

                                        • Anonymous

Does anybody know if you save scum and redownload your save, your colosseum rank changes? My guess is that if it's like DS3 then the rank banners are stored server-side, so save scumming shouldn't change your rank. Just wanted to see if anybody else knows

                                          • Anonymous

The new winning strategy is to hang back with a fast roll, then use super high damage magic from a distance while the others melee fight.

                                            • Anonymous

Honestly best PVP , nobody is toxic and we're all cheering and bowing after cease combat as if to say "gg!!"

                                              • Anonymous

My first experience with elden ring pvp other than invaders! wanted to be a silly little support/incant class and chose 2v2 team combat, my teammate left and my two opponents used meta weapons & meta ashes.. is this what it's like all the time? I love the colosseum update but I'm afraid to try it again lest I be absolutely obliterated in 2 hits at a crisp 60 vigor

                                                • Anonymous

It's not a DLC. It's a multiplayer update. Nothing more.

A DLC adds actual content, this adds a small game mode, it's not a DLC, it should not be called a "DLC", it should not be praised as a DLC.
It's just an updated that should have been released a long time ago.

                                                  • Anonymous

You have to access the colosseums directly the first time you load in after the update. Each one will have its own play style for Duels, United Combat, or Combat Ordeals. Spirit Ashes are only allowed at the Caelid Colosseum when creating matches AT THAT Colosseum.

Once you have been to a Colosseum it will be available at the new Statue of Marika in the Roundtable Hold next to the fireplace between Roderika and Gideon's first locations. From here you can access all Colosseums and participate in any kind of match in any location.

At the top right of the Combat Setup Screen will be three "Badges" (assuming you've unlocked all three Colosseums) these are your Ranks within each battle type.

I'll leave it up to the community to figure out how high the Ranks go, but you will be matched most of the time with players of the same Rank. There are other criteria for matchmaking similar to Invasion and Co-op but not exactly the same.

                                                    • Anonymous

Protip for people who think stormhawk deenh will rock: just use the beast incants like gurranq’s stone & they’ll get stunlocked

                                                      • Anonymous

So, do they raise the player-limit across the board or just for the arena?
I'd really like to see actual fight-clubs return and also the second invader for large ganks.
