Conceals wearer while crouching away from foes
|
Concealing Veil is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Concealing Veil conceals wearer while crouching away from foes. Players can use talismans in Elden Ring to boost a variety of Stats.
Talisman put together from dark cloth with a lustrous sheen.
Completely conceals the wearer's presence while crouching at a distance from foes.
Part of one of the concealing veils used by the assassins on the Night of Black Knives.
Concealing Veil Effect in Elden Ring
Concealing Veil hides the wearer while crouching away from foes.
Some info about Concealing Veil:
- Distance to trigger invisibility: About 5 medium weight rolls.
- Things that do break invisibility: removing the talisman (others seem to be fine, may depend on talisman), standing up, dropping from a platform/falling (causes you to stand up), any offensive action (such as shooting an arrow, spell, or weapon art), consuming an item, warping using a Phantom Bloody Finger.
- Things that don't break invisibility: moving (while crouching), rolling, changing equipment (other than this talisman).
- Re-applying invisibility in PvE: Once spotted, you must crouch again to trigger it.
Where to find Concealing Veil in Elden Ring
- Altus Plateau. Dropped by the Black Knife Assassin in Sage's Cave. [Map link]
Elden Ring Concealing Veil Notes & Tips
- Sell value: 500
- Does not provide full invisibility in PvE, unlike PvP.

The fact that you have to crouch for it to work, make that talisman near useless. (even more in pvp)
Whats even more funny is that the black knifes don't have to crouch AND they are completly invisible.
Plz Fromsoft, buff it.

The black knife assassin using this thing was able to turn invisible Literally in front of me WHILE attacking me. I had to do some Jedi bullshit to kill him while invisible.
Meanwhile when YOU put on the same talisman, you have to be a certain distance, it doesn't work on all enemies and if you do anything other than crawl around, it stops working.
TLDR; this has to be the most useless item in the entire game.
- Anonymous
according to the description, this is only part one. is there a matching counterpart somewhere?
- Anonymous
Used this plus crepus vial in an attempt to farm the envoy greathorn. It offered literally zero advantage since the big envoy sniped me from way further than the effective distance threshold. Thanks for all these useless stupid trinkets fromsoft, I'll stick to the head on approach
- Anonymous
Same issue as 7/24/23. I have defeated the boss and the item is not in inventory. There is no chest in the boss area although there are a lot of chests along the way. I am sure I did summon something for the fight. I am wondering if the summons did the final kill and that kept the item from showing up.
- Anonymous
i just invaded a sorcerer who was using this (i assume) except they were able to cast magic and attack me whilst staying entirely invisible, is this a glitch?
- Anonymous
so . . .The assassin is dead and I don't have this talisman, any idea how to get it alternatively? It's not in the chest and I haven't sold it
- Anonymous
This has to be bugged. Invaded at the freezing lake, huge area so it should be easy to not get spotted with this right? Instead, the host (from like a mile away) beelines directly towards me and uses the wave emote.
To be clear, I was not using trick mirrors, visual buffs, black knife armor, crepus’ vial, and I was in fact crouching.
- Anonymous
To those saying this doesn't work in PvE, go to Ordina wearing this and thank me after; or you can remove it, and get sniped from across the map.
- Anonymous
I wish this combo'd with the silent run talisman to apply the effect without crouching.
- Anonymous
The black knife assassins have a waaaaaaay better version than this one.
What you say? You use the black knife assassin armor? That doesn't work with this veil though! cause it has a buff that silence your movement , and there for cancels this veils effect out.
You need to alter the armor, and remove that effect in order to play as an black knife assassin. However it doesn't have the silence now. :( how to fix that you may ask? Simple use an ash of war named assassin gambit. (Somthing black knife assassin don't use) to silence your movement "TEMPORARILY" for 30 seconds. But what about that talisman called "crubis veil?" Doesn't that fix the issue with the concealing veil? No that also has the same effect as the unalterd black knife assassin armor. And btw assassin gambit it also allowes in pvp to be temporary un-lockable, if combined with unseen form (that also grands 30 seconds of semi-invincibility)
Meanwhile
Lesser invisible Black knife assassins: (laughing at you for the amount of sh*t you had to peform, only to try and cosplay them temporary) you shouldn't try to imitate us, if you can only temporary become invisible like us brah. All we need to do is veil on, and we ladies are invisible forever! unless you have a torch with you that counters our effect. none of that bs, that is only temporary for you to use tarnished! ROFL

This talisman does not work in PvE at all. Any improvements to stealth are just from crouch walking by default. To actually get the concealment buff to work, unseen form sorcery or assassin's gambit ash of war properly apply.
- Anonymous
I did some testing using the impassable bridge before redmane castle and the troll throwing giant pots in the center of Caelid. This talisman does not alter agro range of PvE enemies at all more than crouching by default does. If you want to do so, unseen form and assassins gambit apply the same buff but actually work with the addition of not having to crouch.

does this also hide talisman effects and physick’s? or how about sacred order AoWs?
- Anonymous
FYI - the concealing veil does not work in pvp if you are also wearing a trick-mirror talisman. They will be able to see you. Trick mirrors also break the mimic veil, which you can clearly see on your own screen.

Does anyone know if wearing Black Knife Armor still prevents this from working in PvP?
- Anonymous
I did assasin build and Tried using this. im using it correctly, but every invasion host just runs to me. They even see me from very far away. is this thing glitched?
- Anonymous
Seems to still work while standing, enemies lose sight of me and give up when I get far enough away while standing with. Like I'm still within distance to where they would continue chasing me but they seems to lose sight. I think someone needs to look into this
- Anonymous
idk if I'm just using this wrong, but it seems to do nothing.
from everything I've read, it seems like it works fine, and I'm using it fine.
it just does nothing. the veil status icon appears under health but no visual effect happens.

I love to use this for invasions and just follow the host and their crew. I don’t do anything and I like to think it gives them some kind of anxiety lol. I also leave little goodies to bait them into finding an item in the dungeon/area. But I honestly wished there was some visual effect on the character from the wearer’s end, like give it the unseen form visual for the wearer but still remain invisible to everyone else.
- Anonymous
But what if you have a torch in your hand? is the light invisible or not considered to be a part of the torch? which would make sense, but imagine a shining dude to just glow into existence with duo torches. I would ruin my pants
- Anonymous
This does have uses in PvE, I used this in Ordina and the archers were no longer sniping me from across the entire map.
- Anonymous
Yep, yet another cancer PVP build. First we had the mooveil bros, then the ROB bros, then the bloodhound-stepping (ice skating) dual cross-nagitana bros, and now it’s the invisible gransax / jar cannon bros who run away and crouch if you look in their direction. Sigh.
- Anonymous
Make one shot bolt of gransax build wear this the host won’t know what’s coming till a giant lightning bolt vigor checks him
- Anonymous
IMO this is the most effective talisman for PVP, invasions specifically. With ER's system of invading only a host + cooperator, you have to deal with a lot more ganks than any other DS game. I've been using this talisman in every invasion, crouching as soon as I get into the host's world. I've also used this talisman to escape spell ganks. I'll never be getting into an invasion without having this talisman equipped.
Also, haven't tested it but I bet you could use this in conjuncation with the Darkness incantation to make for a stunning sneaky escape ;)

- Anonymous
Amazing in PvP. I've faked out so many host by using this, in combination with phantom bloody finger, you can confuse the host and any phantoms of where you are. Great tailsman if your going for a PvP assassin.
- Anonymous
Doesn't seem to be mentioned, but you can use light bows and regular bows and fire them while crouched without losing it me and a friend tested this
- Anonymous
It says "makes you invisible", what it MEANS is that I, think, it lowers aggro distance on enemies. Similar to hidden body, fog ring, etc. ANyway, if you don't think it's reliable you can get Assassin's Gambit for less effort and I can personally vouch for Assassin's Gambit's efficacy in PvE. Ordina, Liturgical Town pissing you off with all the snipers that use anti-material homing arrows? Try that.
- Anonymous
works wonders in PVP you can definitely get far closer to targets without them seeing you if you dont spawn in there face
- Anonymous
Tested on the llyndel knight outside artists shack. Used a convenient message to make sure I stayed in the same spot. Tried both day and night. He reacted to me at the same points whether I was crouching with the talisman on or without. As a side note, I also tested if he notices you faster if your crouching instead of standing, and crouching does nothing in terms of open concealment, so if you use crepus's vial there is no reason to ever crouch (unless there is a low obstacle in the way, maybe?).
- Anonymous
wtf this doesn't work, at all. Tried using it at Stormveil front gate and just got pounded by bolts, thought I was meant to be invisible?
- Anonymous
There appears to be some confusion still with this talisman. No, it's not particularly effective in PvE, but it DOES do something. Or, it did. Seems at some point an update broke it. An archer outside of Ordina spotted me from a significant distance with this on, it is definitely not currently functional. At least in PvE.
- Anonymous
Ok, so, unless I'm mistaken, this is actually very useful against casters who like to distance themselves to get casts off in pvp. If they try and get back and away to cast something like Stars of Ruin or Honed Bolt or a Dragon Breath, you can just crouch to get them to unlock from you by going invisible.

This feels like a joke, like that guy that tried to robbing a bank with lemon juice on his face because lemon juice is used as invisible ink.
- Anonymous
For everyone saying it isn't working, you're wrong, for some reason FS didn't allow the user to invisible when crouched, but to the Nps and other players, you're invisible but the invisibility breaks at a distance, or others players have an item that allows them to see you at a closer distance, this talisman needs more testing
- Anonymous
This thing doesn't do anything atm. Crouch into the Stormveil giant + archer amush after getting Torrent and they start shooting me from 150 ft away
- Anonymous
Works okay in pve. Using it to farm the Duelist set in Leyndell at a very low rune level. Only doing 400 damage per but you can easily alternate backstabs on the duelists and one will lose sight of you before you make it to the other one. If it looks like they're searching for you, they can't actually see you and are only looking at where they last saw you, you can easily circle around unnoticed and go in for your next stab.
- Anonymous
As of 1.0.4.2 This taiisman is 100% bugged, doesn't work whatsoever
- Anonymous
There’s a Black Knife Assassin in Sage’s Cave? Guess I’ll have to go back there. I missed this entirely.
- Anonymous
The Concealing Veil WILL NOT conceal Ritual Sword Talisman auras, which likely means it also WILL NOT conceal Wondrous Flask of Physick.
Can you stack this with crepus's vial or the black knife armour? Both make you silent which wouldn't do tons since you have to be crouching to use this talisman, but they would give you silent rolls, and feel a lot sneakier.
- Anonymous
As far as I can tell this currently does not work for PvE. I've been testing it on imp statues. They notice me from the same distance while crouched regardless of if I'm wearing the talisman or not.
- Anonymous
I've been doing some very successful concealing veil invasions, raking up at least 30 host kills over two days, and I think I got myself softbanned (disabled?) because of it. Recently whenever I invade, hosts/phantoms acknowledge my existence even when i'm way more than 40 meters away from them, crouching, and without any aura effects active, as if I don't even have the talisman equipped. Is this something that anyone else has experienced? Not sure if it's a bug or intended balancing mechanic.
- Anonymous
Also want to chime in and concur that if this thing ever worked in PvE it certainly doesn't now, I almost feel like I get spotted easier with this thing equipped.
- Anonymous
This made that one bridge in Elphael (you know the one) tolerable
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Was this thing nerfed? People are spotting me from super far away now even when I'm crouching and have no buffs on. It used to work...
- Anonymous
Shooting a bow while crouched does not break invisibility, but shooting and reloading crossbows does for the duration of the animation
- Anonymous
5 medium rolls? That's maybe over 50 meters. How is this useful? "At least I can't be seen by enemies way over there."
- Anonymous
Tried using this in Lyndell Capital while making my way to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds and the Lydnell Knight archer next to the Avenue Balcony site of grace (the one who will shoot at you as soon as you walk through the door) immediately aggro'd and started drawing his bow while I was crouch walking with this equipped. That knight is waaay further away than the 5m minimum distance mentioned on this page and he saw right through it like it was a joke. And, he's not wrong, lol
- Anonymous
does not work as a red summon with the red letter tool, only in offensive invasions with a finger
- Anonymous
Would really like a definitive answer from someone (anyone!) as to what the hell this actually does. I can’t actually tell if it works or not or how well it works i feel like I’ve had much more success sneaking since using it but that’s just speculation on my part. Wasn’t expecting total invis while crouching- well actually yeah I kinda was at first that is what it says in the description- I think maybe it’s a decently shorter detection distance but only for some enemies?
- Anonymous
What was the point of nerfing this thing? Were they afraid new players would have a hard time fighting snipers?
- Anonymous
You need to kill the invisible black knife assassin to get this, not the necromancer blood guy. The boss rooms are right near each other; just go past the entrance to the necromancer room to reach the black knife room.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Sucks that it's only good for ranged builds and basically useless for melee, hope they make the detection range smaller so actual assassin builds become more viable (and sentry torch more useful).
- Anonymous
I've used it to invade in Liurnia and it doesn't work, I'll be extremely far away, no shining effects on me at all and they'll notice me, It is super annoying, It's just a waste of a Talisman slot
This thing does not work at all, had an invader shooting me from an impossible distance for him to know where I was if I wasn't invisible. Absolutely worthless. Been trying for two days and not once has it worked, they always see me from a distance while crouched.
- Anonymous
Has anyone done some testing regarding whether this only takes into account horizontal distance or vertical distance as well? Wondering if you could use this to crouch on a ledge all Batman like while stalking your prey.
- Anonymous
This does not drop from the boss. I completed this dungeon and the veil did not drop. Unless I had bad luck, I assume I got glitched.
- Anonymous
when this is activated, does it stay active regardless of distance to other players?
- Anonymous
So it both does and does not work in PvE. Thanks wiki and comments this was helpful.
- Anonymous
It does work in PVE, but it’s deceptive. We still stay visible, but we get the icon under the bar to show it is in effect. Worked a treat in Ordina to avoid being sniped by those wicked sorts.

Make sure to disable any group passwords while using it. When someone in the group defeats a shardbearer it will put a gold aura on you that will show up even when invisible

There is some confusing info. You guys know how it works (range? Effect?) on pve? Or does it do nothing on pve? Thanks

Great in PvP to stalk your opponent in the open. Real good in PvE to make enemies de-aggro on you instantly when hiding. As an example, there was that giant that kept aggroing me and would not let go while fighting the Draconic Tree Sentinel. I squatted behind a rock by the cliff, he kept shooting, equipped the talisman, he turned around instantly and forgot about me. Tried in many other circumstances with annoying enemies just aggroing/following for the longest time, and it works really well. Pretty handy tbh.

Findings on conceiling veil, these are not mine someone made a thread about this on reddit
Distance to trigger invisibility:
About 5 medium weight rolls
Things that break invisibility:
Removing talisman
Standing up
Any offensive action such as shooting an arrow, spell or weapon art
Consuming an item
Warping using the 3 red fingers
Things that DONT break invisibility: Moving (while crouching)
Rolling
Swapping weapons
Changing armor
Re-applying invisibility:
One spotted it seems you HAVE to crouch again to trigger it.
Suggestions:
-Hoarfrost stomp or any other BIG forward AoE skill to make opponents roll backwards. Then you're just 2 or 3 rolls away from going invisible.
-You dont have to face away from opponents
-careful with ledges as any small drop while crouching makes you stand up
-don't use any auras as some of them can still be seen even though your character itself is invisible (anything similar to beastial vitality) I didn't try weapon buffs but I'll try it next time
Again, these are not my findings all credit goes to this post on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/tc6r79/conceiling_veil_talisman_test_findings/

I use this pvp regularly and it works well for getting in the first hit with ranged magic or incantations. It does have a range so if pvp enemies get to close you will appear.
Tips for use in pvp: keep a fair distance and approach from behind your target, most of the time thier camera cannot see you once you decide to attack.
Watch for terrain as even a slight ledge or level ground impairment can make you stop crouching.
If you spawn and are immediately spotted, try breaking light of sight before entering the stealth and immediately reposition.
Additional: I'm unsure if the crouch sprint breaks the cover as I haven't fully tested it but I haven't had trouble with it so far. Also opponents with higher ground tend to spot you easier I find.
This item pairs well with: the black knife armor set because enemies with good headphones on can still locate you by sound.
Hope any of this helps - zally

Ive noticed this item causes enemies to lose track of you more easily when you crouch down, but are far away. Would love someone to make a test video on this.
- Anonymous
If you 360 while you think someone in the area is invisible during a pvp fight the spell effect will refresh every time the enemy with a concealing veil is reintroduced to your pov so just quickly 360 or jitter your camera to find out where the invisible person is. pretty sure this is unintended

Doesn't seem to do anything in PVE. Ballista in Stormveil Castle still spot you at normal range as do regular crossbowmen/archers.
- Anonymous
It would be nice if they updated this to make it work for PVE better
I'd like to be able to use it to sneak through crowded places
Currently only works for up to a few feet of an enemy, not even sure if it's "working" or if its just normal sneak doing its job
- Anonymous
The invisibility in ER doesn't work like DS (which allows you to walk up to an enemy's face without getting noticed). It only conceals you up to maybe 10 character models distance and it's mostly for passing through areas heavily guarded by shooters.
- Anonymous
Be aware that this won't conceal any additional aura effects, such as buffs, tested it with Red-Feathered Branchsword and Flame Give me Strenght, the aura effects are still visible even when concealed.

holy **** imagine this with azure comet in pvp love to see it

Seems to be mainly useful in PvP. Doesn't seem to do **** in PvE. Very underwhelming.

You don't have to face away, just crouch. You become completely invisible in PvP and break target lock once you're crouched and a certain distance away from your opponent. There are videos on YouTube showcasing the distance for anyone interested.
- Anonymous
I think it means if you crouch and face away from the enemy.
This talisman paired with either Crepus’s vial or black knife Armor top and dagger talisman is so op on a bandit build. Lightning misericord with a keen parry dagger (for parry or lightning strike). Green turtle, erdtree favor +2, and lightning scorpion charm are all other great options. Light roll fashion.
