Improves dodge rolling but increases damage taken
|
Crucible Feather Talisman is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Crucible Feather Talisman improves the effectiveness of dodge rolls, but increases damage taken. Players can use Talismans in Elden Ring to boost a variety of Stats.
A talisman fashioned from feathers that embody the aspects of various creatures.
Said to have grown on the human body long ago.
Improves the effectiveness of dodge rolls, but increases damage taken at all times.
A vestige of the crucible of primordial life. Born partially of devolution, it was considered a signifier of the divine in ancient times, but is now increasingly disdained as an impurity as civilization has advanced.
Crucible Feather Talisman Effect in Elden Ring
Crucible Feather Talisman improves the effectiveness of dodge rolls, but increases damage taken. Frame data assumes 60 FPS:
- Light/Medium Roll Invulnerability Duration +23% (+6 iframes, 32 Total)
- Heavy (Fat) Roll Invulnerability Duration +25% (+6 iframes, 30 Total)
- Damage Negation -30%
Dodge rolling effectiveness does not stack with the Windy Crystal Tear.
Where to find Crucible Feather Talisman in Elden Ring
Where to find Crucible Feather Talisman:
- Found on a corpse inside the Auriza Hero's Grave [Elden Ring Map Link]:
- From the first Chariot Hall, drop down through the opening on either side just before the second ramp.
- In the room below, head west and up the steps, then turn right into the next corridor that leads to a large hall with two Chariots running almost side by side, with a short delay between them. Head all the way down towards the pit behind the pillars.
- Looking down, you will see several wooden beams that you can drop onto. Navigate your way to the lowest beam and then head south towards the archway with a ladder at the back. Climb the ladder to reach a third Chariot Hall with a single Chariot.
- Head all the way down this hall, using the alcove on the left about halfway through to avoid the Chariot (unless you've previously destroyed it). At the bottom, turn left into a corridor and head straight to find a small room guarded by an Omen. The talisman can be found on a corpse behind the Omen, sitting by a statue.

so i'd just be better off using the situational-mostly-for-pve-anyway crystal tear over this, great design

So...it improves your rolling by less than it harms your damage negation? Gee, I'd prefer if it somehow averaged out in my favor.
Unlike most things, this actually gets better as you progress in the ng+ cycle. Fun on a light roll build with tons of stamina.
For max glass cannon nimbleness go with as much endurance as you can afford and at least 40 strength (ideally 60). Don’t level vigor at all, this build is made of toilet paper and anything spent will be a waste. Talismans should be radagon’s soreseal, green amber +2, turtle, and this. Two hand giant crusher with heavy infusion and cragblade, offhand/back as the turtle shell.
Have fun and godspeed o7

So the I-frames from this and windy tear don't stack, but do the damage negation penalty stacks?Because I have an amazing idea, but to make it work as intended, I need the damage negation penalty from feather talisman and the tear to stack

Makes you able to dodge Rykard's upheaval
Though the -30% makes it play like russian roulette
This is literally prenerf Carthus Bloodring's benefit with postnerf Carthus Bloodring's penalty. If still has -30% negation, but now it's back to 32 frames instead of only 30 frames. The Windy Crystal Tear offers 31 frames for -15% negation which is almost on par with prenerf Carthus Bloodring, but it only lasts for 3 minutes and can be dispelled by Law of Regression, while also taking up a Crystal Tear slot. Unironically, I think the Windy Crystal Tear is kind of busted in PvP despite the drawbacks in the same way the prenerf Carthus Bloodring was busted in PvP, it opens up way too many opportunities to become invulnerable while also not having a severe enough penalty, only -15% negation does not offset the +19% boost in frames, the percentages are unbalanced. I think how they nerfed it in DS3 was complete overkill and done with a heavy hand, but it was kind of justified because of how strong it was if you knew what you were doing and how to maximize the advantage it offered.

Don't use this in PvP unless you're really good, even if you're light rolling. That 30% damage increase is enough to make most ashes of war 1 or 2 shot you
- Anonymous
20% would make this more worth using. Not saying it’s bad, just a little too niche.
- Anonymous
I’d argue it’s not ****. Here’s why:
- Great for higher NG cycles since most bosses just 1-2 shot you
- Great stack potential with blue dancer charm
- Not getting hit is easier done than you think there are very few things that will hit you regardless of whether you have this on or not
- gives you a reason not to wear heavy armour
Just maybe don’t wear it near royal revenant or just don’t go near that thing at all

This talisman sucks. Either increase the benefit or weaken the drawback. It's completely useless outside of extreme playthroughs or tryhard PvP. It's just like the scarab helmets. Too great of a drawback for too little of a benefit outside of extremely specific circumstances.

Honestly a great choice if you have high negation armor and still have medium roll. The extra damage you occasionally take feels completely nullified by how easy it is to dodge. Managed to beat crucible knight duo while only needing to heal once because they couldn't touch me (took about 5+ minutes of kiting but with all that time spent dodging I could really feel the effect of this talisman)

a bit malicious to have left out such a critical piece of info in the how to obtain section for so long.

this thing carried my level 1 character vs Fire Giant. any attack of his would 1 shot me anyways so this talisman was an automatic equip

Anyone know if the defense reduction is changed in PvP? Talismans that boost your defense are heavily nerfed in PvP, so I'd hope this follows the same logic.
- Anonymous
Incredible talisman for people like me who have a nagging voice in the back of their head saying "every point you put into vigor is a point you didn't put into strength". I do wish it worked with Quickstep, though.

how do i get the kind of invulnerability the NPC enemies have? spam roll with no vulnerability at any point in the roll. i tested entry of roll, 25% into the roll, dead center of the roll, 75% through the roll, the moment when the roll ends, and the frame or two when they're standing before entering a follow up roll. full immunity throughout. is that what this does, or is it just more cheating on the game's part?

This + Blue Dancer charm is the ultimate 'Just don't get hit' statement.

I just watched someone completely negate waterfowl dance with this and light rolls. No complicated positioning, no weird circling, just spamming dodges.

The negative aspects of all the talismans need to be removed, Increases damage taken is stupid. plus we need to be able to equip at least 10 talismans, hackers are already doing it, by increasing the number of talisman pouches.

This talisman is pretty worthless outside RL1 runs.
Why use it when BHS provides way more iframes?

So no Carthus Milkring / Simpleton's Ring that people loved, but Carthus Bloodring that everyone despised (and not nerfed), put in the most frustrating level of any From game. Classic Fromsoftware big brain moment.

“So we created a talisman that will increase the I-frames of your dodges and make it easier for you to avoid damage. But to make sure that this doesn’t become a essential talisman for every broken build, we decided that we will also take away 30% of your defense as well. We hope this won’t be a problem for you right? After all, why would you worry about defense if you’re trying to avoid getting hit at all?”
-From, probably

I think I understand why you take more damage. Wings are better for mobility but are easily broken because birds have hollow bones

Do we know is this actually increases I-frames or does it just improve distance or recovery or something like that?

With this talisman and the right setup you can have~
-263 Physical/Strike/Slash/Pierce
-260 Magic/Fire/Holy
-387 Lightning
For anybody seeking Ultimate challenge

If you struggle with chariots, just use Raptor of the mists. It works
- Anonymous
I wonder if this affects the AoW on the Bloody Helice? It already has 41 I-frames, but this could make it even more ridiculous.
- Anonymous
I think it would be a good note to say the body hanging off is where you need to jump. The chariot only gives you a few seconds to look and jump

Found you at last, my favourite Carrthus blood ring from DS3 !

All I can say is even with dragon crest +1, arsenal charm +1 and the best/heaviest armor i have on, which is ironically the tree sentinel set, this wrecks my defense completely. And I'm heavy rolling to boot. Personally this sounds like trash to me, but what do I know. I don't play this game competitively. Just for PVE. Been around since demon souls and this still sounds like trash to me.. Miss the good old wood grain rings. Sigh

this is a life saver in late game RL1 where almost every hit taken one shots you anyway, so the extra iframes always come in handy. run this with opaline bubbletear to be able to take a hit just in case and blue dancer charm for naked bonus damage.

So difficult to find, description wrong there's to many trap chest
+6 iframes to medium roll
+6 iframes to light roll
+5 iframes to fatroll
DOES NOT EFFECT QUICKSTEP, OR BLOODHOUND STEP
- Anonymous
So has anyone figured out what this actually -does- to improve dodge rolls?
- Anonymous
the talisman's descriptions has some of the craziest lore implications of any item in the entire game and y'all are in here whining "ugh, this talisman out of the dozens of talismans in the game doesn't do what I want it to." gamers, man. insufferable.

sounds like it increases the damage you take by 30%, multiplicatively.
If you have 80 percent negation...then you are taking 20% damage normally. With this on, you'll take 20% * 1.3 == 26% damage taken. That'll show up at 74 damage negation on your stats

It seems to decrease your damage negation relative to how much you already have - the lower you have, the more it decreases.
Numbers:
0% negation; with talisman -30%
25% negation; with talisman 2.5%
50% negation; with talisman 35%
75% negation; with talisman 67.5%
80% negation; with talisman 74%

Use this together with Physqiue Flask dodge enhance (works for 3min) and you probably can yawn while dodging hits from Malenia herself.

I have made some math, and in result, the higher your defenses are, the less you lose. For every 5 points on defense, you lose 1.5 less.
At 0 > -30 > -30
At 5 > -28.5 > -23.5
At 10 > -27 > -17
At 15 > -25.5 > -10.5
At 20 > -24 > -4
At 23 > -23 > 0
At 25 > -22.5 > 2.5
At 30 > -21 > 9
At 35 > -19.5 > 15.5
At 40 > -18 > 22

Not sure if this is supposed to happen but the pair of chariots died and I got tree sentinel armor and an ash. Wild.
- Anonymous
So does anyone know what happens when ypu use this when your already light weight load?
- Anonymous
It appears that a lot of talismans in this game make absolutely no difference at all. I have a hunch that a lot of them are bugged and missing their effects or they are so minimal in percentage that there isn't any logical reason to use them whatsoever.
- Anonymous
defense reduction seems to be depending on build or something else. takes 22-28% off of me if I equip it (physical stats being less affected than elemental)
- Anonymous
Location is missing a key piece of information: after "Follow them to the ladder and continue on this path through the next chariot ramp room", you must turn around and enter the room on at the top of the chariot room on the right, the attack the fire pillar to move it upwards, then warp back tot the start of the dungeon (via item or death), then proceed back down the same path to the fire pillar, but this time go to the bottom of that chariot room to find the final passage that is already mentioned.

Looking at the dark sous 3 wiki for carthus ring, that one increase i-frames by 30% while reducing damage reduction by 30% as well. For light rolls that is 13 to 17 frames.
- Anonymous
Curious I wonder is this affects the ashes of war quickstep and bloodhound step
- Anonymous
this is more like a 20% reduction in defense, that can take you negative.
- Anonymous
Improves rolling, because of all the dodges youre gonna focus on since it takes away all this defense. Seriously now, any data on this item? Seems to have no effect to me.
