Think about it… What’s it called? Who dropped it? And where is the only place it’s actually useful? Oh snap.

Now if it buffed the damage output of headshots, this would be really useful with spectral lance or bows. In its current state however, it isnt even situational.

I like to think this thing just gives you some incidental damage resistance. Sometimes an attack hits your head and when it does this comes in handy.

I slap this one on when running around the Liturgical Town. The archers get headshots fairly often when jumping around the rooftops because of the constantly changing vertical positions. Not getting staggered helps a lot too.

Besides this one specific use I cannot understand why this tailismen even exists.

confirmed on archery: PUMPKIN HELM and CRUCIBLE KNOT TALISMAN don't work together. Also does not reduce damage when hitting the head with a club, but does not stun. It is necessary to check the piercing blows and cutting

Sometimes I wonder if the developers are playing the same game as us...
About the only use for this is are vs the bow wielding Ancestral Followers that fire those powered up arrows.

I killed the omen killer, proceeded to do 2 entire quest lines and only got this after I beat astel like 2-3 hours later. What the hell made it take so long?

Does anyone know if headshots are a possibility through impact of weapons like hammers or swords I.e. rolling headfirst into hit box?

Would be kind of cool if the description said Reduces damage and impact of headshots while also increasing your own headshot damage and impact. Then maybe increasing Dex would also increase your chance to hit headshots with a bow while locked on. Not a crazy amount but just enough to see a difference. Then things like Assassin's crimson dagger would have a bow equivalent. From soft is clearly not a fan of Hawkeye.

Tested in duels. This does not help against glintstone pebble ash of war. Shame I was hoping it might have a niche on my build with 2 empty ring slots.

Might be useful for 5 or 10 minutes out of your 100 hour playthrough. Missed opportunity to make a talisman grant extra headshot damage.

Sort of a shame Heavy weapons like hammers don't get headshot damage with jump attacks. Would make sense, and would actually make this talisman valuable.

Headshots are not just limited to projectiles. Melee weapons that attack vertically or stab upwards can headshot dealing more damage. One major example of this is the Giant Hunt weapon art, which stabs upwards with a thrusting weapon. This talisman stacks with the pumpkin head helmet, reducing the bonus even further; it isn't completely negated even with both being used, but it's not felt nearly as much. Note that spells do not do headshot damage.

So for those of you that haven't taken anarrow to the face, your character takes extra damage and staggers when struck in the head by physical projectiles. AI luckily doesn't actually aim for the head, but when they're shooting from above you or when you're rolling you can occasionally catch an arrow in the head and it really ruins your day.
I assume that this talisman, the pumpkin helm, and anything similar would mitigate or outright eliminate the bonus damage/stagger taken from a headshot.

No effect unless you get headshot. "Reduces damage and impact of headshots" current description in-game.
Tested and it didn't have any effect on damage taken with or without armor, with or without talisman.

Why cant games like this EVER give an exact description of what it does as far as damage percentages?
"Reduces damage" tells me next to nothing helpful.
Is it 2%, 5%, 25% damage reduction? Simple info like that will make the difference on whether or not many people use this item.
It would even be a lil bit better if they said "reduces damage by a little" "reduces damage moderately" reduces damage greatly" at least then we'd have some idea.

I haven't tested anything, but maybe it works as a a substitute of sort for headgear. Since, based on how damage is calculated, not wearing an armour piece leads to possibly receiving heavy damage, this talisman could act as the missing head piece for people that want to stay without a helmet.
