Divine Beast Tornado is an Incantation in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLCDivine Beast Tornado conjures a whirlwind and then launches a tornado forward.

The tempest of the Dancing Lion, wielded as an incantation.

A whirlwind-like twist of the body summons a storm, launching a tornado forward.
Charging enhances potency.

The majority of divine beasts were gored and hung upon Messmer's spears, then burned in his flame. Those who witnessed the deed likened it to a funeral pyre for the tower itself.

Aaaah finally a wind incantation. I was literally hoping for something like this when the DLC came out. I was a little mad before that the base game didn't have any wind spells. BUT KNOW... he he heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

      • Anonymous

This staggers friggin bosses. Tried it out on Dragon tree sentinel and it legit staggered him out of honed bolt summoning stance

        • Anonymous

Absolutely kino. One of the most effective mob-clearing tools in the game if you aim your shots well, and bosses don't fare much better.

Super bulky bosses like dragons are also really easy to hit with the stationary, multi-hit component at max range, which chunks HP hard.

Melee protection during casting, crowd control knockdown, high multi-hit damage, and respectable range. The only other spell you'd ever need is a projectile.

          • Anonymous

Absolutely love this spell. I haven't tried it in pvp, but in pve it's perfect for smaller enemies that can be flipped. charge it and find the sweet spot and watch them fly. The damage isn't as good as more focused incants, but the aoe and flip makes it worth it.

Also, besides its effectiveness, who the **** wouldn't want to throw a literal tornado at their enemies? This incant is cool as ****, visuals wise.

            • Anonymous

Once you learn the sweet spot range for this spell, it's surprisingly good in both PvE and PvP. Give it another shot!

If you hit the shielded silver husks in Nokstella with this it freezes them in place for some reason. Play on Xbox

My experience with the new DLC spells is that the new useful sorceries are lower-cost work horses, and the best new incantations are more FP expensive, but have better utility... More like support spells.

I'm general, I think the incantations are just cooler looking too.
This tornado spell, for instance, is pretty great for flopping enemies around and dealing great damage to groups. But you're not going to be spamming it like crazy

                  • Anonymous

Why does it launch human-sized enemies into the air, but not other players?? It could have been so cool for PvP…

I present to you, Ghru Bowling.

Go to the Inquisitors in Enir-Ilim (near the fat guy where like 7-8 are staying near each other) charge this spell, and tell me If you managed to bowl them with a strike or a spare.

                      Have fun.

                      • Anonymous

Im enjoying it. But it's the only useful incantation outside the main three spiral spells that's useful and it really needs some slight targeting, or an aim option

                        • You can’t aim this spell, your opponent can very easily sidestep or roll through it without much pressure on timing, it does mid damage, and it has no hyper armor. Please From, fix at least a couple of these issues. Primarily the ability to aim it.

                          • Anonymous

So, so fun in invasions. First time I tried it out, in the Leyndell Sewers, send it at a host and phantom and the meta-level-40-vigor pair both get hit twice and die instantly. Knew it was a keeper after that. Perfect for groups, especially in long hallways!

This spell is just missing a hitbox during the startup animation. And personally I think it last a little longer at its final location. It’s a legendary incantation (when you pick it up, the text box is gold for it). Make it feel like one.

I don’t even care how good it is, I’m just happy we got a wind incantation and I’m gonna use it anyway

not bad after the patch. i can see people using this to humiliate humanoid enemies, so i wonder if this can fling malenia like a ragdoll.

                                  • Anonymous

For anyone confused by the numbers, it's a spell buff modifier. Someone should change them to a 2.2x, 2.75x etc. type format to make it more clear for people not familiar with these mechanics.

-"The tornado will be less likely to disappear due to collision with the terrain."
                                      >tornado disappears when casting uphill, when it didn't before the patch

                                      Come on, man.

                                      • Anonymous

To be clear this only launches foes into the air when fully charged. It will only launch npc's, and not giant ones. It does not launch in PVP but it does stagger. Still, even without launching pvp opponents, the damage buff is strong.

                                        • Anonymous

They really knocked it outta the park with this update. This now tosses enemies like rag dolls in both PvP & pve, and goes through walls. Furious blade buffed & savage now, ansbachs scythe buffed, Miquella’s circlet works w Miquella’s light… well done fromsoft. Proof they read these posts & take good advice.

                                          • Anonymous

Got exactly the buff it needed. Use it to lock down annoying enemies before using a gap closer like lion's claw.

                                            • Anonymous

In typical fromsoft fashion, enir ilim divine beast warrior version is quite good but the version we get is doo doo

                                              • Anonymous

This not being buffed with the Spiraltree seal is such a strange choice. Needs a big buff for it to be ever used.

                                                • Anonymous

This incantation needs some work to be more useful. The damage is actually alright at high incant scaling of 300+ however targeting this incantation is difficult. It has a fixed range it will travel so if the target is too close to you then it will just pass right over them and stop behind them dealing only one tick of damage. If however you get it perfectly centered on a target then it will deal some good damage in a large radius. It needs to be updated so that when it "hits" a target it stops moving and it also needs free aiming so that I can cast it at my own feet. Virtually useless in PvP since the massive wind up telegraphs what you are about to do and it is easily dodge rolled.

                                                  • Anonymous

its physical damage, it has a charged version, the tornado around you hits once or an extra time when charged, the damage the projectile while charged is the same damage.

blue dancer charm, flame grant me strength or other physical damage boosting buffs make this stronger, on top of the storm stuff.

base damage is 100 for all hits of the spell, so what ever your incant scaling is, is what will be the damage it deals(excluding defense and buffs)
with the aoe around you, you can do 2 hits then projectile at point blank.

(not stagger) poise damage is 100 for the aoe and 200 for the projectile.
you can action pretty fast after you launch the projectile for combo potential, the hitstun is also meaty for pvp purposes to follow-up with other things. i see no reason why stone of garuq can't follow up on this

don't expect to combo the aoe into the projectile, if they roll away from you twice itll hit after but not the kind of effect as the storm ash of wars at all.

however the time it takes to launch (and being unable to redirect which direction it goes once you start casting) means you will probably never land this in pvp. only way is to get a knockdown from something else. after that this should hit..maybe you can roll it, enemies version you can't. and if that was the case then you should be able to aim it mid cast. if there is more than one person on your team then this can definitely hit the person not paying attention to you.

thats all i know about it, honestly it's no wonder messmer was able to burn them all, they're abilities are kinda cheeks.

                                                    • For those struggling on the Ruins version but don't want to cheese:

Build full defense (Pearldrake, Dragoncrest, Boltdrake since lightning is most problematic, Erdtree Favor +2), bc you will tank some hits trying to scurry away from the Basilisks. Fight first phase extremely aggressive, because you will use most of your healing on second phase. Ideally poise break him but I wasn't able to, not sure why. Ideally run a heavy weapon to get in big hits in his obvious openings.

Once second phase hits, focus on 1) dodging the death breath and 2) killing the basilisks. Do not leave more than a couple alive, they will **** you at the end if you don't have high deathblight resistance. Alternatively bring Death boluses and try to use them, but it's better to use those openings to heal. Use an AOE to kill the basilisks as you run from the boss, such as Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike. It will probably one shot them, they seem weaker than normal basilisks. Once most of them are down proceed as usual. RUN from lightning phase, do not even try to engage--there is way too much **** going on and you will be staggered nonstop and get stacked out. Play very aggressive on wind phase and (magic?) phase. Punish him hard after he does heavy attacks. Play VERY cautious on ice phase but still attack--JUMP for the AOE.

ALWAYS punish his spinning breath attacks, he is wide open for 2+ seconds after finishing these. Do this and you will win

                                                      • Anonymous

can hit more than once on larger targets. charging it makes it travel way farther. honestly a solid option for AOE farming

                                                        • Anonymous

I at least expected enemies to be launched upwards in the second hit, so they would be jailed into another tornado and rinse and repeat. At least it's difficult to dodge

                                                          • Anonymous

Tested against the Magma Worm in in Volcano Manor since I figured it would be most effective against a larger target who could remain within the twister. I wore both the talisman as well as the Godfrey Icon. 40 faith.

                                                            This incantation is crap.

Don't bother with it. Just don't.

Glad I took the golem's advice and dropped that lion with a greatbow. This incantation isn't really worth the hassle

                                                              • Anonymous

Performs worse near walls, Does not damage enemies next or behind you but will stun them, Damage is decent for its medium speed cast time and range, AOE is okay, unsure if it does decent stance damage or not because it kills too fast on non bosses and the second hit on the charge attack is near impossible to land due to its set range, about 95% sure it does physical damage. Most likely performs better in a pvp storm build and for pve there are better options then this. Overall 8/10 if used in the right situations, 5/10 if not.

                                                                • Anonymous

This is kinda bad. Really long cast time for mid damage at best. This COULD have been worth it if the initial tornado hit had knock up effect on it, tossing smaller to medium sized enemies into the air.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

Walls break the tornado :(, free aiming doesn’t affect movement, it will go forward for its designed length (unless you hit a wall and it breaks). Damage isn’t terrible… but I was also running flox and godfrey during testing so that’s not exactly a compliment…. I doubt the x% from the lion talisman affects enough for yet another talisman spot unless your whole build was this. Thematically it kinda goes with beast incants. Add this to the possibly needs a buff list.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Make sure to watch out for the basilisks spawning when he switches to Death though.

                                                                        • Anonymous

I have a good recommendation for the boss that drops this spell, DON'T KILL IT (here me out).

This spell is arguably a bit under-tuned with its current state, and while it can do decent damage if you have PERFECT positioning, i just find it to be more of a hinderance than anything. As such I recommend keeping the boss alive as a build tester instead. This repeat boss seems to be begging for builds to be tested upon it. Its aggression, agility, and positioning forcing deathblight phase makes it perfect for testing the viability of different builds in the dlc. Using the sewer omens in the capital are a great way to gage damage, but this boss tests the actual viability of weapons in the dlc.

On repeat playthroughs i have kept the mini margit alive to test builds upon because the talisman it drops is horrid, but in the late game it becomes more and more of a hassle to not kill it. With this things sheer amount of defense and agility it actually puts up a decent fight against different builds. And while its spell is far more useful than the mini margit talisman, the sheer utility this boss provides can't be understated enough. If we get a boss rematching system in the game, then by all means kill it. But until then keep it alive.

                                                                          • Anonymous

On repeat playthroughs i have kept the mini margit alive to test builds upon because the talisman it drops is horrid, but in the late game it becomes more and more of a hassle to not kill it. With this things sheer amount of defense and agility it actually puts up a decent fight against different builds. And while its spell is far more useful than the mini margit talisman, the sheer utility this boss provides can't be understated enough. If we get a boss rematching system in the game, then by all means kill it. But until then keep it alive.

                                                                            • Anonymous

I'm really trying to make a storm build work and it's just not happening. From gives you the coolest looking sh** while also ensuring it's useless. Stormblade and storm caller are about it.. rain of fire and this tornado crap are horrible. Even with the storm talisman and divine beast helm +Godfrey icon it's not worth it. Better off spamming storm blade for 1k damage a pop ffs

                                                                              • Anonymous

Can be boosted by the Enraged Divine Beast talisman as well as the Divine Beast Head or the Divine Beast Helm.

                                                                                • Anonymous

if its not obvious u can cheese this by not jumping down and using a bow to make it close distance then rot or black flame it to death

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Feels like they tried to replicate convergence mod storm spells but forgot to include the things that made them great.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

The biggest problem is the tornado goes a set distance away before stopping, and instantly goes away if it hits a wall. Unless your spacing is perfect, the tornado will pass through the enemy you're targeting and they'll only take one instance of damage which isn't all that impressive. If your spacing is perfect, they'll take 3-4 hits from the tornado's AoE and you'll deal decent damage.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

Wow. Faith is the definition of perfect and surprising and uncomfortable. Fromsoft gets better and better every time.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

This can hit enemies multiple times so it does more consistent damage to enemies that won't get knocked down and larger enemies. I think it might only be able to hit the same enemy up to 3 times though. That is the most hits I've managed to get. Haven't tried it on dragons yet. The damage of a single hit isn't very high, but the AoE is certainly thicc.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

Needs testing to figure out which school of incantation this belongs to so you can minmax the damage on it.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Meh, low damage, long cast-time, relatively short range. Even with the storm talisman, it feels very underwhelming.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Soooo because this boss is a visual mess with little to no visual distinction which makes reading attacks abysmal, just cheese him with Bolt of Gransax or whatever long range DPS you have from the bridge, before you drop down into his arena. I tried fighting fair twice and decided that adding deathblight and summons to this fight qualifies it for cheesing without feeling shame.

The biggest let down is that incantations are almost definitely bugged currently, dealing little to no damage or poise damage. What a waste of time.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Go to the Church of the Bud, Main entrance grace.

Go east then carefully jump on the building there, then jump down again and start heading south until you reach what seems to be a dead end at the cliff, then look down to the and you'll see little bits of ruins you can jump down onto and from there it's pretty straightforward.

Proceed down on the broken path until you find the elevator, go up the elevator. From here it's just going forward a fair bit until you a see big open building to your right, and there you can find the divine beast that drops the divine beast tornado.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Message me on xbox and I'll send you a screen shot of the path way and the grace @itzbabyjames
