Negations (or Absorptions)
The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Additional Attacks & Counters
Attack | Description | Counter |
The first phase uses the same attacks as Dragonkin Soldier | ||
Phase 2 | ||
---|---|---|
Lightning Explosion | Once it goes below 60% health, charges itself with lightning before opening its wings and creating an explosion that inflicts Frostbite. After this point, all of its attacks do additional lightning damage and many inflict Frostbite as well | Run away once it starts charging itself with lightning |
Frozen Lightning Spear | Summons a large blue lightning spear in its hand before tossing it forwards into the ground, creating a trail of electricity that blasts Frostbite lightning upwards a moment later. Used when you're far away | Run to either side to avoid standing on the charged ground lightning. Jump or roll as you approach the edge to be sure you clear it. Try to move towards the soldier to keep it from throwing lightning over and over again |
Lightning Leap | Jumps into the air either towards or away from the player while summoning a blue lightning spear in its hand, then tosses the lightning spear at the ground creating a trail of electricity that blasts Frostbite lightning upwards a moment later | Run to either side to avoid standing on the charged ground lightning. Jump or roll as you approach the edge to be sure you clear it |
Lightning Javelin | Summons a large blue lightning spear in its hand, holds it in the air a couple seconds, then slams it into the ground creating a large shockwave that inflicts Frostbite | When you see it raise the lightning bolt, run away and come back after the explosion |
Dive Bomb | Jumps into the air and hovers there for a second as it pulls back its left arm, then dives forward to the ground while swinging its arm forward | Dodge to the right just as its arm becomes level with its head |
Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella Lore, Notes & Other Trivia
- This follows a trend in Dark Souls, where people attempt to imitate dragons, only for them to end up malformed or disfigured.

As with any big boss, this fight is easier with pc controls since you don't have to rely on lock-on camera
- Anonymous
At some point in ER's development they decided to dont give a f about hitboxes and just make a shockwave aoe after every single attack, step and stomp for every enemy. You dont have to track animations if you just make tarnished die from heart attack after a swing missed him by 5 meters.
- Anonymous
While I wouldn't call this fight hard, as his moves are pretty easy to dodge, but his hit box is one of the jankiest in the game. Even with lock on off, I whiff a lot.
- Anonymous
Super easy cheese strat for melee: run behind him and place yourself against the back of his left knee. He keeps just circling around doing swings and all you have to do is keep against his leg and keep hitting.
- Anonymous
I can confirm that dragonwound grease do not boost dmg against him.
- Anonymous
Looking at the resistance chart after fighting mine with a pickaxe like.
Yep those sure are some resistances I uh. Needed to take into account while treating him like an oversized ore node.
- Anonymous
One of the worst fights there is. Its not hard at all, its just incredibly annoying since you cant see anything other than weird blue colored bandaged pieces of limbs you cant even tell where they belong to flying across your monitor (along with your char) and lightnings out of nowhere. Not locking your camera may help.

Dude, I see that chart after two-hit killing him with my bubble shower horn and I feel so guilty.

+3 Dragonkin Halberd. level 30. Was a beautifull fight, I still see when i close my eyes.
- Anonymous
One of the coolest looking boss in terms of moveset and environment but boy does this fight suck.
Hope they do something like this right in the dlc.

I followed the Ainsel River progression wrong and was on the lookout for those silly big eyed bug guys when I bumble my way into this breathtakingly grotesque expanse of ruin. Awestruck, I meandered my way towards the big big guy without much thought, aside from "dang this place kinda baller." When this sick dragon mummy looking plops out of the sky like it's mother birthed it standing up. Almost died trying to just watch it but thankfully I remembered to summon the boys (demi human chimpsquad gang gang) and let the Ole handy dandy ash of war stick set the ruins ablaze. The cacophony of his lightning dancing along my flames with 5 lil monkes going bananas is something I'll carry with me for the rest of my life
- Anonymous
Dont fight it with a spear, his hitboxes are misleading because of loose wraps around him, so its quite difficult to land a hit with thrust attacks

Another "leggs" boss fight where you see nothing more than his leggs. Then 2nd phase comes and as cool as it looks its annoying as hell dodging 4 lightning spams in a row running towards him just to see him flying away and repeat the cycle. My god out of all Elden RIng bosses only Radahn would fit in my top 20 of FromSoftware bosses, the rest is not even close.

pretty sure i've killed him on my first run, why didnt i get any achievement?

Elden Ring REALY REALLY LIKES to just have boss rooms where a big ****ed up corpse is lying in the distance and you approach it and instead of it getting up and attacking you some random dude jumps in outta nowhere and starts yelling at you like you just drank his bong water
- Anonymous
I had fun fighting him with my caestus, I love punching the air.
- Anonymous
honestly the jankiest boss ive ever fought. attacks clipping through his body, constant spamming, all while killing my frames.
- Anonymous
I punched him with my +8 caestus and 40 str and made him cry

P2 is absolutely awesome. This is the kind of shock and awe that makes Fromsoft bosses the best. Some people are complaining about having to hug the boss, but to me that almost adds to the excitement. The moment you have a gap you know you need to either run for you life or heroically leap (or roll) into danger.
- Anonymous
It's honestly a great boss fight. However, it's yet another Elden Ring boss fight where the boss is so large most of him isn't even on your screen.
Is the boss about to attack? Yes. Which attack? Dunno can't see. Good luck!
- Anonymous
I reached him at level 100 with Eleonora Twinblade 35dex 25 faith.. killed him with 3 Bloodblade dance.. I struggled so bad to kill him in my first run as a mage with 70int.. had no compatible HP at time as I'd die with 1 hit

Killed him with a +5 Lions Claw Iron Greatsword at Level 20. What a pushover.

One of my favorite bosses. The spectacle is off the charts. Just wish you didn’t spend the whole fight sniffing his ballsack and killing him before you can even see how sick the phase 2 is.

Could've been a cool enemy but it's damage is too exaggerated...

Why is this guy so weak compared to how late he is in the game?
- Anonymous
You see this thing? This is a crap boss, this is. The hotboxes are absolute GARBAGE- I got in under its guard and tried to slice it up, and watched in frustration as my weapon cheefully swung through its torso doing no damage whatsoever. I had to switch to my bow to finish the damn thing off.
- Anonymous
This fight was easier than I expected but that's probably because I had more luck than sense.
Great stars +7
All I had to do was run up, start attacking his legs behind his knee - the boss moved me along with him with every turn making me behind his back all the time. I was left to furiously mash R1 until he fell.

If I had known there was a waterfall back by the throne, I would have waited 2nd phase to see if I could get him to dive bomb over the edge and die.
- Anonymous
This boss fight made me want to murder a kitten. It's ridiculous trying to get close enough to tag the #$*%! and still see wth he's doing. What's worse is trying to roll around statues and avoid getting your back against a cavern wall.
I finally just went for broke, dug into his crotch and whaled on his thighs and took him down first phase. Got lucky with the Ash Upward Cut

Most underrated boss in the game, the spectacle in the 2nd phase is phenomenal

I still want to know the significance of the giant skeletons each sitting on a throne, this boss area and at Nokron because the expressions on the faces of the petrified remains around both giants look like they died in terror, its all very suggestive of dark doings but no satisfying explanation.

This guy really needed x2 HP, he's almost as weak as Agheel.

One of my least favourite bosses of all. I can choose to either get in range and don't see anything it does, or stay out, watch the attacks, dodge but can't hit it once. Not to mention phase 2 is an attempted murder of my GPU
Boss is cool and I love the frostlightning, but mechanically it's just so bad...

Strange how the stronger version of this boss is somewhat early game. It would be as if the ancestor spirits were swapped.

Stage 1: who disturbed my sleep? wtf is going on? *swings his arms randomly, stumbles* ...
Stage 2: ok now you really pissed me off *strikes you several times in a row with a lightning that hits 2 miles away, you die stunlocked in the opposite corner of the cave*

I'm mad that i missed this guy, if i had found him sooner it could've been a cool challenging fight, but no i missed him completely, and many hours later me Mr. Overleveled andy comes in and 3 shots him before he could even hit me, stuff like this makes me so sad, missing out on cool bosses and only finding them when you're about 100 levels too strong for them.
- Anonymous
Doesn't seem to be mentioned here, but this boss is immune to the hp reduction effect from Rune of Death weapons. They will still take damage over time though.
- Anonymous
It doesn't say anything about it here, but there is a great ghost glovewart in a chest under the throne. I don't know if you can dodge the boss and sprint straight to it before killing the dragonkin soldier or if the throne has a barrier blocking access to the chest until it is dead.

Man, all of these wannabe dragons look like they’re in a lot of pain. Seems to be a recurring theme in FromSoft games.

When I defeated this boss (days after the game released) the spell didn't drop for me. I'll check in NG+ to see if recent patches fixed it

The second phase transformation is to slow only in NG6 did I know he had a second phase

This guy and something about Gowry made me realize they did some real last minute cut & paste with the underground. Lake of Rot seems like it was supposed to be under Caelid and the big lake of rot(insane I know). Ainsel river would fit under Dragonbarrow, so- Dragonkin boss. Maybe all they had for Liurnia was the small Astel cave under Raya Lucaria and decided that wasn't good enough for the biggest zone. So Liurnia stole Caelid's underground, Limgrave's got shoved over to compensate, you can see how the map is jacked up there Worshipper's Woods in Siofra should be under mistwood if you match up the coast. Mohg's Mausoleum is completely cut and pasted from the other side of the map to fill out the rest. He's the lord of Blood not rot, probably supposed to be under Mt. Gelmir and instead of a random teleport dropping you there, the Palace Approach Ledge-Road area lines up with Old Altus Tunnel and then all the big ghost skeletons make sense with that mountain being a pile of graves. I'd love to see a Director's Cut edition of the game some day, because this is not stuff that can be fixed by DLC

Fromsoft, why, in a game where bosses get upwards of 40k hp do you always give the awesome optional ones pathetic health, This guy, Castle Morne Leonine Misbegotten, Fortissax etc.

I went back to this area at level 150 (initially for an ash of war) and 3 hit him during his first animation lol. I guess i'll wait until ng+ to see his moveset.

If you get behind his left knee-cap. He get's stuck swiping and it ends up forcing you to back into a 'safe' place, thus giving you free reign to swing endlessly at said boss. *THIS ALSO prevents his 2nd phase (Ice Spears) from being triggered, making this boss more of a breeze)

Rock sling over and over with 18 Mind and 24 Int using Meteorite Staff and Lhutel +3 summon, used two FP flasks..this was easy for me and I'm trash at this game

Rings of light absolutely SHREDS this boss. It’s big and slow enough that each ring is almost guaranteed to hit twice. It’s attacks are also telegraphed enough that you should easily be able to dodge them while staying in front for the rings to hit it on their return.

If you roll left when he does the big overhand slam with his left arm you can get a jump attack on his head. I was doing 400-500 damage per hit to his noggin.

i like the part when the big boss's big aoe makes fps go down to 2

My bosses went godrick > Leonine Misbegotten > dragonkin. Beat him after 45 minutes, using base damage fire hookclaws at level 22. It was this boss that taught me to not run around underleveled.

I wish there was a player sized version of their armor, the head in particular is really cool.

I was just exploring the giant ant cave and stumbled upon this boss. Holy **** that phase 2 was so epic.

Anyone know who or what is sitting on the throne in the boss room?
- Anonymous
Swarm of Flies and Perfumer Tricia destroyed him. He is prone to moving out of the slow flies, so use Tricia's bubble shield to get somewhat close and Radagon Icon talisman to cast even more. At SL1 this killed in 3 FP flasks + hidden tear physick.

I killed the guy at the described location but it didn't say "of Nokstella" and it didn't unlock my achievement...

Even though it says he's more resistant to lightning I ONLY used lightning spears (charged) while my mimic pulled agro with a longsword, and got him first try. 22 Mind and 24 Faith and he was done after only using two blue flasks with my +8 Clawmark Seal one handed. Only needed to heal once after taking a frozen lightning AOE that wasn't even meant for me.

Just stay under his crotch/ feet like your fighting a giant. Also, you control the camera folks get more comfortable adjusting it to "run into it" so you see the boss whole body but have a clear path to run

Level 52. Land of Reeds Armor with Imp Head (wolf). +11 Quality Uchigatana. I used Lone Wolf Ashes, no problem.Thought I was gonna get smashed. Beat it first time. Plenty of time to heal compared to other enemies.

maybe I was over leveled (60) I had but he seemed kinda weak and slow? weapon art on winged scythe + 4 absolutely wrecked him. He didn't even have a chance to get into a 2nd phase.
- Anonymous
Skeleton spirit ashes worked quite well in keeping aggro, he was never able to kill them when they are down so they kept respawning and taking aggro.
Down on the second try. Hugged boss in second phase and was able to get many hits in resulting in easy kill.
- Anonymous
Me and mimic with Burial Watchdog Staff absolutely packed this guy
Even though this boss is super scuffed with the camera and frame rate tanking, I easily forgive all of it just because it’s so epic.
