so we get a good looking, long beard with a helmet but every beard in character creation looks like someone drew it on with a permanent marker...

Hmmm...Lucatiel's Mask reports it's "Worn by knights while on travel". The Eccentric armor states "Jerren preferred a nomadic existence, but after spending time as a guest of the Carian royals" which compliments the mask is "Only those who have distinguished themselves on the battlefield were admitted into the elite ranks" and "It is common to hear of a peasant's dream of striving for knighthood as an escape from hardship" coinciding with "the restless tumbleweed would be bound by honorable oath" & "Jerren served General Radahn as a guest commander"
If you look closely this altered eccentric helm, it looks stitched together where the face is. A Face that matches Lucatiel's Mask (which is disconnected from the hat, which is something Lucatiel shows if you do her quest line).
Neat.

Fits surprisingly good with the fire prelates set and makes you look like evil Santa Claus. ;-)

Ah this will work for a santa claws helm, if only the nomatic merchant's hat was red but this will also work.

Kinda wish altering kept the hood but removed the mask since the bear is a bit silly.

I like to switch from Ruler's Mask to this whenever a boss is being especially annoying.

I don’t mind the dog-turd poise or physical, I’m pairing this with the bull goat greaves and other armor pieces so I’m good.

Removing the hat makes it so equipment like Astrologer Robe will put their hood up. Makes for some great fashion options.

also do not hesitate to "alter" armor. you can alter it back any time you want.

This with the fire monk armor and the curved greatclub make a nice crazy monk design, but the beard gets clipped, like with many other armors sadly, it somehow sticked to the neck while some armor like altered fire prelate make it be in it's normal visual
