Eclipse Shotel is a Curved Sword in Elden Ring. The Eclipse Shotel scales primarily with Faith and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for inflicting the death ailment upon foes followed by a flare if an additional input brings down the armament.
Storied sword and treasure of Castle Sol that depicts an eclipsed sun drained of color. One of the legendary armaments.
In Sol, the sight of an eclipse inspires a dreadful awe, preventing an onlooker from averting his gaze.

Odd that the AoW follow up attack is L2 again, I was pretty confused when trying to get R2 to follow up like Flaming Strike.
- Anonymous
You’ve just got to commit to trolling with these. Grab 2 and keep them at +0. We are planting tree here people, not vigor checking.
- Anonymous
Seems like dual wielding 2 of these is the only way for death blight to hace decent buildup.
- Anonymous
Maybe not a great weapon, not even a good one, but it certainly strikes a certain type of fear in some players when they see the possibility of instant death. Although that fear is pointless if they opponent knows that the build up won’t happen.
- Anonymous
They should make it so that enemies that have taken any death blight buildup should have the death blight -death animation.
That way, even if it doesn't proc (which is essentially all the time in PvP And PvE) it still feels somewhat rewarding for using the weapon or incantations.
- Anonymous
Here is an idea. In PVE when death blight procs, enemy has greatly reduces poise health and recovery. As enemy gets pulled by roots and their life being drained. On poise break, riposte damage increased by ~1.3, then effect dispels. Would help this fast weapon class to feel more heavy and fits thematically as you making a mercy kill. Also synergizes well with Guts cosplayers in your team.
- Anonymous
It would be so cool to see bosses killed by death blight. If bosses had like 3000 death blight accumulation in order to proc the kill animation for death blight i think it would also be balanced enough. Let's say we give Eclipse Shotel like 50/75 death blight per hit. That would mean over 40 hits in order to proc and most bosses would already have low HP, so having a death blight animation on them would be so satisfying. For incantation, the number of DB per hit could be even lower, as well for pvp, so nobody gets one shot right away.
- Anonymous
Best used against greatshield users and estus-chuggers
Since it pierces shields and deathblight ignores health
- Anonymous
impossible to proc, would've been cool is it was a reliable status effect like hemorrhage
- Anonymous
This is a tricky thing to balance since right now the deathblight buildup is so bad that you’ll almost never proc it on someone before killing them unless you use them unupgraded. On the other hand if they buffed the buildup then it could become way too OP since deathblight is an instakill. It is also a shame that deathblight has no use in PvE since enemies don’t get affected by it. I love the look of this weapon and the visual look of the deathblight however it just feels really weak right now even in PvP where this thing is supposed to shine due to deathblight.
- Anonymous
Hope the dlc can give us a scythe that has death blight. I want my grimm reaper cosplay damn it!
- Anonymous
Feels like this thing should be an int weapon since most of the other death based tools scale better with int. I wanted to do a death based necromancer build at 125 but it’s very difficult to accommodate this on a build that uses death sorceries.
- Anonymous
Not the worst for dealing holy damage with how it's buff works, but it does suck that Death Blight is such a bad status. Especially as someone who very rarely plays PvP, this thing's power is limited at best, even moreso compared to the other Legendary weapons.
- Anonymous
With the Black Wolf Mask, some dark robe and dual Eclipse or regular Shotel, you can become death straight up XD
- Anonymous
Cool weapon, unfortunately any decently upgraded shotel will just kill the host before the deathblight actually procs. Its honestly not a bad weapon in that regard either if you think it looks cool, its just not gonna deathblight particularly often. Even if you dual wield.

amazing invasion/pvp (with healing) weapon
if they're heal spamming it dosent matter because you can eventually just instakill them after like 7 hits

I think people got the wrong idea. Death bed companions are faith healers and the death blight forces people to create space for your casting/healing. It’s supposed to be very difficult to have death blight sword, death blight sorcery, death blight incantation without massive sacrifices to armor/mind or even hp. But... Imagine the synergy between a few shotel hits into death lightning into erdtree heal or honed bolt... a team fight simply doubles or triples your healing out put and the power of your elemental buffs. I’ve recently tested this in both duels and team fights and it’s pretty solid as dex/fth/mind RL125 team support and anyone curing death blight was countered with an erdtree heal, jump attack or honed bolt with gravel stone seal. If lhutel wasn’t always invisible and distracted, maybe I’d have even gotten some trees in spirit summon duels. The problem with lhutel is she doesn’t really protect me while I’m getting targeted by my opponent and his summons. My player team mates were much better at protecting me in team fights and opponents were often dumb enough to eat death lightning one shots. In duels, my opponents would rather run even when they know i heal, and I don’t care about their silly rules about “no healing miracles” from a game 10 years in the past.

would be p e r f e c t is it caused its status effect a million times faster... currently takes about 23 to 30 hits (with two of 'em) to deathblight, or much, much, much more if cured... sadly its curable... ouch
- Anonymous
even if your opponent has less than minimum deathblight resistance (probably like 200 total) you'd need to be really aggressive and hit them 10 times to blight. Ain't no way.

Deathblight will never be viable, why cant we have a legendary weapon that isnt complete garbage
- Anonymous

I wish that if it's already buffed, trying to use the weapon art just skips the buffing animation and goes straight to the explosion (With SOME windup, of course). Even if it doesn't extend the initial buff. With you already being more likely to kill them than death blight them, it could really use the ability to apply pure build up some way.
- Anonymous
I you want buildup purely, DO NOT DUAL WIELD! Not only will they die before the buildup procs, but due to the recent nerf powerstancing these inflicts a PITIFUL amount of buildup. i belive one running attack is around 3/4 of a typical running attack single handed in terms of buildup. youre better off with fias mist in your offhand. (you can use azur staff for faster casting, and you don't need to meet the requirements.)
- Anonymous
Does a lot of damage with the right setup but you will NEVER get the proc even when they heal
- Anonymous
Does the deathblight buildup work when you don’t have the stats to use this weapon?

had somebody try to do the fire deadly sin bug with this on me. guess they haven't played for a few months lol

I've seen some disagreement on using this against fingerprint turtles, this is actually a great way to end the fight quickly as you will die much faster from trading with shield attacks due to thrust counters! Try it yourself next time you're being interrupted from severing!

“Oh hey cool a weapon based around death blight, I can’t wait to use it against Gideon” Miyazaki: let’s make Gideon immune to blight

does the followup explosion inflict curse too? if so how much?

The people complaining about deathblight....its used for mental warfare like frenzy and the flame of deadly sin with blood blade. Panic and fear play an important role in pvp, and those that win against such tactics point down only because they hate their heart rate being so high lol

To be honest i think this weapon was made for the chance you where unfortunate enough to encounter a infinite health hacker.
I was a victim of fighting sutch a hacker yesterday in elden ring. He was a blue summon, in a world of an afk farmer.
I attacked that basterd, he got staggered, but he couldn't be damaged.
So after eventually knowing i could inflict any damage i remembered this weapon was in the game that could 1 shot people with it's status effect.
Used it against the pathetic hacker, and he died by the status effect the poor fool.
He even rage mailed me and calling me a cheater LMAO.
- Anonymous
Has excellent base damage. So I tried a 99 vigor raw build stacking all life boost on mausoleum armor and using fias mist when I need to rebuff. The damage was good but I only procced death twice while dueling. I bet if I had two shotels I could’ve gotten tons of death blight. I got close on a ton of people and could tell by how passive/cowardly they became. Anyways the weapon is very good and the ash does good dmg if used properly. I can’t say that the death blight build up needs a buff... it’s instant death lol and I bet two would be disgusting... but I think hitting someone with the L2 should do way more death blight.
- Anonymous
deathblight needs a buff, i have never been deathblighted by a player and its effects can be negated with a bolus that takes a second to use, you might get hit while using it but the alternative is death. the duration on this is way too short and im able to kill people with it normally before the deathblight procs. meanwhile players with 60 arcane and double sepuku can instantly bleed me for 90% of my health, might as well be deathblight at that point.
- Anonymous
Seems kinda doodoo for pve considering that everything other than other tarnished and npc invaders can't be death blighted.
- Anonymous
i wish this wasnt a shotel i like curved swords and i like the concept of this but shotels just look so lame
- Anonymous
Does it inflict curse with the weapon art only, or with the regular hits too?
- Anonymous
for those of you complaining that this thing kill before it inflicts death blight
its a shotel thats supposed to chip through shields. this thing is meant to kill passive shield players
- Anonymous
Weapon skill is strong but has no hyper armor. Death blight is a pipe dream in PvP and literally useless offline. At least it's always stronger than a Sacred Shotel, but really I can't think of why you would use one besides chipping a Fingerprint Stone, and there are better tools for that job.
- Anonymous
The fact this is the only death blight weapon in the game sucks.
It's a good weapon to kill people with, but to try and fill up the meter you need to do 2 times the explosion weapon art in someones face. and that animation is slow as hell and doesn't give you hyper armor! And after that you might be able to death blight a person after 2-3 hits with it. So in pvp It's not worth it in trying to use it against someone for the status effect.
Hope the dlc makes us able to use a better weapon for the status effect.
- Anonymous
It looks like the cheat engine logo, and once, it really was like cheat engine, in a way.
They finally patched out the combo with the Pulley Crossbow.
- Anonymous
You know what Iwish? I wish this weapon in PvE would do some sort of animation of leave some deathroot effects on enemies so that it FEELS like I'm Wielding a weapon that really inflicts deathblight. It would just look pleasing to the eye that deathblight has a real effect on enemies.
Guys just to add my two cents, don't try to min/max everything. If a weapon looks interesting, use it, have fun with the game. No weapon is bad enough to make the game unplayable, as long as you know what you're doing.
- Anonymous
I hope they add a death blight scythe in a dlc at some point. I want to be the Grim Reaper!
Does the death blight buildup scale with anything? Weapon level, faith, str/dex?
Because, if not, this is a twink weapon to harass early game players.

Faith scaling but Fia's mist is Int concentrated and a sorcery.
O.k.
- Anonymous
This weapon is... strange. It uses a slightly altered curved sword moveset -- no two-hits on single or 2h strong attack like Beastman's, but still does the quad-strike when dual-wielded using L1.
Also, I have no frickin' idea how its damage is calculated. I was fighting Hoarax Loux with two of these, both with their Death Flare skill, and jump attacks were cracking 1.5k with claw talisman and raptor body, which is numbers I usually see from greatswords/hammers when a boss doesn't resist an element. Hoarax Loux resists holy, which this shotel deals, but somehow they didn't care about..? At this point, don't expect to actually get Deathblight off on anything, but on a 50/50 dex/faith build, these things hit pretty respectfully.
Don't expect to Deathblight anything without some bug helping you, even with two shotels, my buddy dies with 50% blight buildup, but something's up with this thing's damage.
- Anonymous
Interesting but also cool detail: Death blight from this can't proc on non-tarnished NPCs like Anastacia, it plays a particle effect that would be a proc but it doesn't actually do anything. I tested it on NG+ with an unupgraded Eclipse Shotel on the smoldering church invasion, I got the death blight particle effect to play twice, but even after hitting her a few dozen times it never actually killed her.

Looking forward to trying out duel-wield these for overleveled phantoms when doing Limgrave invasions. It's not useless for phantoms that are otherwise practically immortal at low levels, and people don't really carry the boluses to heal this status effect =)
- Anonymous
Really feel like they missed an opportunity with not making this into a paired weapon set. Just seems like having two Shotel making a full loop would fit, and being legendary, it'd help it stand out. I understand the balancing issue with it building up death blight, but honestly, I doubt it would be any worse than the Madness spells, Moonveil/RoB Spammers, or Great shield users. And just like with Madness, I don't see why this couldn't be a useful status effect against certain enemies. It isn't like Bleed and Rot aren't over there wrecking shop.
- Anonymous
I was using this yesterday and felt like all the WA did was additional damage. Tested on albunarics in gate town ng+
- Anonymous
As far as curved swords go, I don't think it's that bad. It's damage and scaling are average at higher levels in late game, it's fast, and the weapon art adds damage and a second tap can do an explosion that does pretty good damage if timed well. I don't think its bad for exploring or for bosses weak to holy. Definitely not the one weapon to carry you through the game but ok for the curved sword category. A lot of the comments focus on death blight, and agree that this isn't worth anything in PVE and probably not practically useful in PVP. But compared to the smaller weapons, it looks great and performs all right. I still enjoy carrying this around with my dex/faith build - even if I switch to Godslayer Greatsword for bosses.
- Anonymous
Man, wish this weapon could perform as well as it looks. Hopefully receives some sort of change soon. I really want to like this weapon.

Unblockable death blight. You are missing the importance of this weapon. This would be great against turtlers.
- Anonymous
I believe the main issue is death blight is useless in pve, and nearly unusable in pvp, since the buildup is so slow. Madness, frost, sleep, and the omnipresent bleed are much more reliable.
- Anonymous
Really lacklustre compared to all the other great legendary weapons, it needs a buff in some way, I mostly just wish it had more damage, or possibly make the WA worth using, cool idea but it doesn’t work that well and other than that it’s kind of just a normal curved with a bit lower damage, but worse since you can’t buff it, or give it a different weapon art and damage type
- Anonymous
i tested it out on the omens in the basement. the "death effect" doesn't do squat in pve. worthless trash.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
In case you're curious: No, you are not going to suddenly delete bosses using this. In fact I believe every single one is immune which means that the only relevant thing the effect will proc on are players, and if that's your goal Bleed does almost the same thing in two hits.
Really cool looking weapon, but very mediocre in actual use.
- Anonymous
I wish the buff on the weapon was more useful. I know that you are almost never supposed to proc the status effect, as that would be absurd if you could consistently, but the only way to sometimes proc it is when you are powerstancing it with another. The big issue is that the buff only lasts 30 seconds, and the animation itself takes a decent bit of time, quickly ticking away at your time before you need to buff both of them again. I think the best way to buff this would be to nerf the deathblight build up by about 25% so it still does almost as much as it does now, but increase the duration to around one minute.
- Anonymous
Useless weapon. Deathblight from WA absolutely will not proc, you will always kill through regular damage first.
Useless. Useless useless useless! Come on FROSO, use your fking head for once, give us something that sounds cool that isn't a total let-down
- Anonymous
at least it helps against people who use the helmet swap exploit...
- Anonymous
when it comes to pve, this is just "the other shotel to powerstance with" if you're running a faith build.
the ptsd buildup shines in pvp tho.
- Anonymous
for pve the weapon sucks, especially compared to the other curved swords. what about pvp? generally the same thing, low base damage and the status effect takes too long to proc for you to kill people with it. HOWEVER, this thing is a godsend for dealing with constant heal hackers and - more importantly - TANK BUILDS. see someone with that pesky fingerprint shield, walking at you all smug and confident? pull this thing out and insta kill them after about 9 hits. what's better is that death buildup decreases very slowly, so you don't need to apply as much pressure as you would to try and bleed or frost them. the major downside is the 30 faith requirement, but if you run 25 faith like me for golden vow and a few other incantations you can just switch to this and equip the two fingers heirloom talisman for that extra 30 faith. very niche and circumstantial, but fills that niche better than any other weapon in the game.
- Anonymous
Should have made the weapon art be a lunging slash that inflicts high damage and infuses the blad with death, so that way it's not useless in pve
- Anonymous
should i be duel wielding with this or two handing it or one handing it?
- Anonymous
Considering deathblight only works on Tarnished, this has to be the worst pvp build I've worked with. The buff only lasts for 30 seconds, the status doesn't build up quickly, and the weapon art is slow/telegraphed and has a tiny/short ranged hitbox. Out of 50 or so invasions, I've had maybe 1 where the status effect was remotely useful, most of the time you'll kill a target with damage before blight. The only way you'll get it to work is to land the weapon art and abuse phantom hits.
I'd recommend keeping a weapon in your second slot that is actually good in case you aren't up against complete clowns.
I like this weapon a lot. The curved sword moveset is really good for applying statuses; jump and dash attacks hit 4 times. My only complaints are that the buff is too short (should be like 60 seconds) and that using death spells like fia's mist or death lightning removes the buff since you have to switch. Like let me cast death magic only straight from the sword. And why is there a timer for buffs AND they're removed on weapon switch? Why is there a level limit on summons AND scaling? Sometimes this feels like a PS2 game
- Anonymous
A cool buff for this weapon could be being able to do the 2nd part of the ash of war instantly while the blight flame is active, maybe a refresh of the 30 second timer for better uptime.

Question about this. Does deathblight work through rolls like other status ailments? If so theoretically that'd mean someone could die without being hit a single time.
- Anonymous
This weapon is good if you have a pair and can powerstance/dual wield it. Obviously that's going to take you to NG+1 or a friend can drop it to you. Deathblight applies really fast on players. It's a PvP weapon, not a PvE. And while yes, the range is low, you don't have to go meta to be a killing machine with this one. I would take this over dual Frostbite/Bleed anyday.
- Anonymous
Wish this would dual wield similar to Starscourge so you could buff both hands at same time or something. Really Deathblight was more of a thing but good luck getting a proc in pvp, weapon will kill before that happens and the death spells that have the status are eh.
You know it's kinda sad to know this is only for pvp use full. Becease remember if elden ring has it's dlc released and a new soulsborne game comes out the pvp community in elden ring will leave with it. And if this game online wise, dies (hope if doesn't) then what was the point of this weapon when pvp is next to non existence?
