Edgar (or Edgar the Revenger, Castellan Edgar) is an NPC in Elden Ring. Edgar is Irina's father and introduces himself as the warden of Castle Morne. He can be found sitting on a bench in a non-hostile area of the ramparts of the castle. His NPC Summon Sign can be used to fight against the Leonine Misbegotten once he has received Irina's Letter.
I'm Edgar, warden of this castle as ordained by Lord Godrick himself. But you can see how things have turned out.
Edgar Location in Elden Ring
Edgar can be found at Castle Morne in the Weeping Peninsula. [Map Link]
- To find Edgar:
- Enter Castle Morne and go up the lift.
- Go straight, past the Misbegotten on the mound, and turn right at the resting Pumpkin Head.
- Climb the ladder at the end of the path on the right, up to the ramparts.
- Follow the path of the ramparts. On the left, past a narrower section, where two flying Misbegotten are hovering, some boxes hide a ladder. Descend the ladder or simply jump down below to another section of the ramparts where some knights are fighting more Misbegotten.
- Head straight toward the fight, past the gallows, and climb the set of stairs circling up to the next corner of the castle. Edgar will be sitting alone on a bench.
- Edgar may move to the Bridge of Sacrifice, to Irina's location, as part of her questline. [Map Link]
- This NPC can be fought
- If defeated, drops:
- Banished Knight's Halberd+8
- 1000 Runes
- Shabriri Grape (Whatever area he died in must be reloaded - the grape will appear where you usually find him in that area).
- Even after completing Edgar's questline, he will invade your world when visiting the Revenger Shack in Liurnia. He will not invade if he is killed before Hyetta moves to Gate Town Bridge.
Edgar Questline: How to complete Edgar's Quest
Edgar's quest is part of Irina's questline. Speak to Irina near the first site of grace of Weeping Peninsula, and she will ask you to help deliver a letter, "Irina's Letter", to her father in Castle Morne, at the southern tip of the Weeping Peninsula.
- After successfully delivering her letter to Edgar, he will lament that he is not able to go to Irina because of his ongoing duties at Castle Morne - he cannot allow the Grafted Blade Greatsword to be stolen by the Misbegotten.
- Upon delivering the letter to Edgar, return to Irina to find an Iron Cleaver embedded in the ground next to her dead body.
- Killing Edgar will progress the questline in the same way.
- After defeating the Leonine Misbegotten and retrieving the sword, Edgar will thank the player and return to Irina.
- Edgar can then be found next to Irina. Talk to him to progress the questline. If the player kills Edgar after talking to him at this location, you receive the Banished Knight's Halberd (+8), however he will not appear as a hostile invader at the revengers shack, and his Shabriri Grape can be obtained by travelling back to this location or reloading the area.
- If the player travels to the Revenger's Shack, Edgar will appear as a hostile invader in the form of Edgar the Revenger. If the player defeats him before killing the Leonine Misbegotten, then the player will miss out on Edgar as a summon, and he won't be in his first spot to thank the player and won't appear near Irina's corpse.
Dialogue in Elden Ring: Edgar
Introduction
- Ah, there's a face I've not seen before. I'm Edgar, warden of this castle as ordained by Lord Godrick himself. But you can see how things have turned out. The menials have all rebelled. They gave me good service, or so I thought, but it seems it was all an act. Foul creatures, as it's said. And true enough they're foul inside and out. I'm sorry to disappoint you, But whatever you've come here to do, I'm afraid Castle Morne won't hold much longer. Take this, by way of apology.
When attacked
- Ugh! I haven't a clue what's got into you, but as Lord of this castle, I will stand for it no longer!
- Ah, now I see! You had a hand in Irina's undoing! What could she have done to deserve that?
- (On player kill) And now even your ilk have complicated matters.
Death
- Please forgive me, Lord Godrick.
- Forgive me, Irina... I will join you soon enough.
When giving Irina's Letter
- I see, from Irina... Thank you. I'm in your debt. But I can't leave yet. Even if the castle should fall, as commander, I must remain. To ensure the treasured sword of Morne does not fall into the wrong hands.
- If you see Irina, do tell her. That her father will come for her, once he's fulfilled his duty.
Upon Retrieving the Sword
- "I'm in your debt. I'm no longer bound by duty. Once I've rescued Irina, I will spend my remaining days with her. Thanks to you, I will be reunited with Irina. And devote my remaining days to her. Irina has a gentle nature, though. I only hope it remains intact."
On Seeing Irina's Death
- "Irina...How could this be...My daughter deserved better...The fault lies...with me. I chose duty over my daughter's safety. And that is how fate has answered...I'll find them. The foul wretches responsible for this. I'll hunt them down, and exterminate every last one of them. Rest assured, Irina. It will be done."
Elden Ring Edgar Notes & Trivia
- Edgar wears an unobtainable variant of the the Banished Knight Set without a helmet. His unique unaltered Banished Knight Armor appears without ornamental horns.
- During combat, Edgar uses a Banished Knight's Halberd (+8) with the Spinning Strikes Ash of War, and a sacred seal, which he uses to cast Golden Vow.
Edgar Lore
It would appear that Edgar has gone mad due to grief, suffered from losing his daughter, Irena. And it is believed that Hyetta is using Irena's Body somehow; no canon explanation is know thus far, although a few explainations are hypothesized in the wider lore community.
The gruesome implications of this information, is that the tarnished goes on to feed Hyetta her Fathers putrefied eyeball after brutally slaughtering him.
Lore Items Related to Edgar
Irina's Letter
Letter given by Irina, addressed to her father, the commander of Castle Morne.
Gorgeous silken handkerchief, lightly stained with blood. Words can be made out within.
Sacrificial Twig
A talisman fashioned from a dried twig, so slender that it might snap at the slightest touch.
Prevent rune loss upon death, but will be lost itself in exchange.
Believed to be a twig pruned from the Erdtree long, long ago.
Grafted Blade Greatsword
The storied sword of Castle Morne. A revenger's weapon, it is burdened with oceans of anger and regret.
One of the legendary armaments.
A lone surviving champion from a country now vanished was so determined to continue fighting that he claimed the swords of an entire clan of warriors.
Shabriri Grape
A yellowing, oozing eyeball of the infirm. The surface is shriveled, and the inside is squishy, not unlike a large, overly-ripe grape.
Give to the blind maiden to guide her to the distant light.
Dialogue Related to Edgar
Irina
"I've escaped from Castle Morne, to the south. The servants there...have rebelled."
"Would you mind taking a letter to my father, at the castle? My sole wish is that he escape, even if his honour should be the price. Please... I just want him to be safe..."
Stranded Soul near Revenger's Shack
"Ahh, the poor fellow...gone perfectly mad. Love...revenge...the frenzied flame melts it all away..."

I never delivered the letter and fed the woman grapes, I haven’t seen him once during my play through
Yeah, ol' Eddie isn't showing up anywhere after we defeated the boss. Not sure where he went off to...
- Anonymous
Based on what the nearby ghost says. The Edgar you fight is likely taken by madness and therefore probably has no recollection of you or Irina.

Lol at the wiki getting a bit too colorful on the Edgar Lore section. The tarnished does not "brutally slaughter" Edgar. Edgar dies in honorable combat, which is the best fate he can have due to being a little *****, sitting on a safe spot instead of guaranteeing his daughter's safety. Also Hyetta is Hyetta, Irina is Irina. They share a body, but are different people. This makes no sense.
- Anonymous
Sorry eddy, But I need that Halberd for the rl1 run, but atleast you'll die knowing your daughter was safe
- Anonymous
One thing the wiki doesn't mention: he will give you a sacrificial twig the first time you talk to him (he will not reward you anything for retrieving the grafted sword). That's the ONLY reward that you are going to miss if you skip his quest by going to Liurnia early.
- Anonymous
you can spare him the pain of going insane over Irena's death and kill him once he leaves the castle, net yourself a really early +8 halberd if you like
- Anonymous
I killed him because he put his duty over his own daughter, thanks for the cool early game halberd douche
- Anonymous
Hyetta is using her body because Irina body is possessed by shibiri just like yura after he dies but this time he introduces him self instead of hiding behind the fake name hyetta. Both lead you on the path of the frenzied flame. Because ...the are all the same possessed puppets with the only purpose of deceiving naive tarnished
- Anonymous
So if you went to Liurnia before delivering the letter, it stays in your inventory forever. Just another poorly designed side quest that breaks for reasons only From Software will understand.
- Anonymous
i only bother killing him because he's a godrick underling, doing him a favor at that point
- Anonymous
Kill him on the castle to get a Very decent weapon already +8 upgraded.
And all Godrick enthusiasts deserves it
- Anonymous
Just so you know. If you talk to Hyetta at the entrance to Liurnia before delivering the letter, then he will not even spawn at Castle Mourne. Found out the hard way now.
If you're looking for an easy kill on the Fire Giant, look no further than Edgar's Halberd. Toss on bloodflame and get to spinning on the giant's ankles. On most characters it will take 4-6 hits to proc hemorrhage, taking about 5-7 seconds total (not including the delayed hemorrhage effect). It's especially useful for lower-level playthroughs

If you go the back way around stormveil castle early and rest at a grace, then his quest will end and you can’t summon him for castle morne’s boss. Might be the explanation for why he isn’t appearing for many of you. Also happens if you defeat godrick.
- Anonymous
If you go the back way around stormveil then his daughter will become the chick who likes the grapes and he will disappear. Can still fight him when he invades you later to get his stuff, but if you wanted him to help with the morne castle boss or wanted to do his questline, you’re SOL. This also applies if you beat godrick before doing his questline.

What a truly awful/lazy choice they made to tie matchmaking to weapon level, then drop you weapons that will screw up your matchmaking. I'm trying to play a level 1 character, without upgrades, and this just completely ruined 20+hrs of carefully getting through the game. Fromsoftware gets way too much praise for the criticism they dodge doing absolutely stupid things like this. SOOOOO SORRY I didn't wanna play with the wiki open before doing absolutely anything.
- Anonymous
he also attacks you and say some lines if u killed irina like he has esp and knows u did it for some reason and when u reload u still get grape while also getin the banished knight halberd when u beat him
- Anonymous
He is not spawning in my game, I talked with his blind daughter she told me to go to the castle, I had to go run some errands first then when I came back to the her to check on her she was dead and after clearing the castle her father was missing. I love FromSoft adn the way they never spoon feed you with bullshit and leave you to play the game but they really need to chill sometimes lol.
- Anonymous
It would be more interesting if he took the Grafted Blade after we talk to him. I mean he cares about it more than his own daughter, but he is ok with us keeping it?
Then he would use it when we fight him as an invader, after which we would get it back.
- Anonymous
Deserves to die early just to skip the meh voice acting when irina dies tbh
- Anonymous
If you leave Edgar's quest half-finished he will be in volcano manner at the end of the hallway and swearing to defeat Rykard. He tells you about the serpent slaying blade.
- Anonymous
Started new game+, killed Godrick first and Edgar was there for me. He even moved to her death spot afterward. BUT, note this:, I did kill the boss in castle morne first, before I ever talked to him. Maybe that’s a difference.
- Anonymous
Hmmm, in NG+ Edgar never spawned for me. I met Irina, got her letter and then just went about clearing the map. I went to Stormveil and defeated Godrick, then went back to clear Castle Morne and find Edgar and he was gone. Could not spawn him, so I went to check Irina and she was dead with a cleaver. Not sure why this happened as I had no issues on NG, although I completed this quest before killing Godrick, so perhaps that is a condition. The wiki does not mention it however, so this should be explored further. This is not a key quest, but it can net you a (good) +8 weapon extremely early with little difficulty as you only need to kill one easy boss.
- Anonymous
Sucks that you cannot do the Frenzy Questline on a RL1/WL0 char without messing up your WL due to his Hellbard drop. Would love to have the Frenzy seal on it. Same goes for Rogiers Questline/Armor Set :(
- Anonymous
A lot of people commenting about him not being there so I just wanted to point out that he works for godrick so killing godrick might make him missable.
- Anonymous
The only unmasked Banished Knight. Funny how he fights like a player character...
He never spawned for me anywhere. I can see it's common issues. I suspect it's because I accepted the letter long ago and than waited with that.. in the meantime I defeated main Limgrave bosses and progressed storyline so I guess this quest has a timer and sort of fails. so either do it as soon as you receive the letter from Irina or don't even pick it up from her until you're done with Margit/Godrick or any major storyline plots.
- Anonymous
Even after getting Irina's letter, possibly defeating rennala or godrick or another boss may cause him not to appear.
Only time I've gotten him to appear at the castle is going straight to castle morne after the letter. Possibly advancing hyetta's quest may prevent him from spawning as well. Who knows
- Anonymous
I think he attacks you at revenger’s shack because, after his rage and his journey for vengeance twists his mind, he sees you as culpable in Irina’s death. “If you had stayed with her, she wouldnt be dead. If youd brought her somewhere safe instead of leaving her, she wouldnt be dead. You had the letter, you were obviously near her. Maybe you killed her, and the letter was just to lure me out?” Etc etc. he’s obviously gone mad, just always wondered why he attacked you when you tried to help him
Edgar is wearing an unobtainable variant of Banished K***ht armor btw
he has no horns on his :/

he's wearing an unobtainable version of banished knight armor without the horns, btw

Edgar is missing for me. never met him and he's just not there
This dude is most likely a crazy lunatic guising as someone sane and sophisticated, kind of like Shabriri before he starts spewing dribble about burning everything. He serves under Godrick (every person we've ever met who serves under Godrick, which despite not being a long list, contains only of not so charming individuals), and he drops a Shibiri Grape even before Irina dies. Also, all his subordinates attack you on sight, even if you don't attack them and only attack the Misbegotten, so why is this guy so composed? He also invades and attempts to kill you, but I'm not betting this was an act of blind grief induced rage, rather a showcase of how nuts this guy is. If Irina didn't die regardless of killing this guy, I would have bet he killed his own daughter due to madness, induced by the Flame of Frenzy.
- Anonymous
I bugged this thing hyetta does not spawn i gave him the letter but killed irina afterwards he still says the same but after killing leonine misbegotten and talking to him he spawns where irina was and says "now i see you had a hand in irina's undoing" and starts attacking me i killed him he dropped the halberd and i went ho liurna and no hyetta i came back and he left a shabriri grape
- Anonymous
His halberd being +8 means you can go get the smithing stone bell bearing 2 and rush this to +12, without running across all of limgrave to get the smithing stones you'd get to get a weapon to +8
- Anonymous
But why does he become an invader? Why does he attack the PC? What about killing those freaky bat-tiger things?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
There was no summons request for Edgar when I faced the leonine dude. He sounds like a all-round flake to me.
- Anonymous
Why would I bother going through the castle again after the boss fight to find Edgar and receive precisely nothing for my troubles? That guy can rot up there as far as I'm concerned.
- Anonymous
If anyone else does this NPC quest out of sequence between Liurnia or Altus Plateau and has problems later with Edgar not sitting on the bench in Morne castle as long as the letter was received from Irina and she has been killed Edgar will invade at the revenger's shack in Liurnia and he will still drop the shabiri grape when defeated.
- Anonymous
Does Edgar not being at morne castle mess up Hyetta's quest as well? It doesn't say here but he is a source for one of the shabiri grapes after killing him at revenger's shack and I don't think there are any spare ones just laying around if you miss one. So Edgar being bugged locks me out of the three fingers ending yes?
- Anonymous
I'm on my first + playthrough and Edgar is not sitting where he is supposed to be. I had no issues with him the first time but after getting the letter from Irina I didn't go straight to castle morn, I didn't think it would matter but now I'm not so sure.
I killed magma wyrm Makar right after Irina gave me the letter so that I could get the giant crusher hammer from the capital outskirts. Last time the caravan with the chest got destroyed by the ulcerated tree spirit that spawns right in the middle of the encampment and it was bugged after reloading, the chest was empty.
I did get the hammer this afternoon and I didn't interact or activate any of the grace checkpoints while I was there, I know doing that can trigger changes and maybe the same thing with the lift of dectus as well. But when I got back to weeping peninsula Irina was dead and no sign of Edgar anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas what went wrong here?
- Anonymous
Its rather dumb how this guy spends all of his time sitting on a bench and doing absolutely nothing, like he could've atleast have been an npc summon for the Leonine Misbegotten fight, considering the whole reason he's sticking around is because he wants to keep the Grafted Blade Sword safe.
- Anonymous
More BS "quests"... at least this one doesn't lock you out of the loot as readily as some others. He will invade at the shack and drop the halberd even if he never went to Irina's body. The Ash of War looks cool ( it is yet another recycled animation from a weapon in DS3) but has no hyperarmor and is another gimmick that often fails as almost all enemies in the game will interrupt it....
- Anonymous
I'm seeing people say that Edgar invaded them in the shack despite never having talked to him in Caslte Morne, but for me no such thing happened. I stumbled onto the revenger's shack but nothing was there and I didn't get invaded.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Has anyone tried getting the letter, delivering it and turning to Irina without reloading, resting or dying?
If you rest at a site of grace after accepting the letter, Irina is dead, end of story. Her death is triggered by accepting the letter. So I'm not sure if you can change things by delivering it flawlessly without resting or dying
- Anonymous
I couldn't find Edgar in order to deliver the letter, I just so happen to simply beat Misbegotten boss while simply traversing the place forward. Fast forward I got to the point of where he invaded my world and I defeated him, basically skipping the whole deal with the letter and sword thing. I just so happen to remember her now, after 200h+ of gameplay, and went back to check, and there's just a cleaver with her dead body. Didn't realized that the invader was this Edgar, never occurred to me, to me he felt just like some casual type of invader as any other.
- Anonymous
kinda weird that unlike the other banished knights who are 9ft tall and make almost monstrous growls as they attack you, this guy is just a normal dude.
- Anonymous
It makes me so mad that he has a unique variant of the banished knight chestpiece, and there's no way to get it.
Yes it's just an insignia and a cape, but that's what makes it cool!

In south west of Temple Quarter theres one of those ghost npcs that faces the direction of revengers shack. His dialogue implies that he went insane and was consumed by frenzy after Irina's death, probably ended up dead too.
Another depressing end
- Anonymous
Not sure what universe all these comments live in.
Went to Liurnia waaaay before Weeping Peninsula. Finally went there, talked to Irina. Went to castle morne. ****ed off halfway through. Talked to Hyetta in Liurnia. FOUND REVENGER SHACK. no invasion. Okay.
Went BACK to morne. .... Found Edgar. Talked to him. Went back to Irina. Corpse. Back to Edgar. Sadboi. Summoned for boss. Beat. Went to revengers shack. Invaded, killed.
All totally normal and working as intended and unbreaking.
- Anonymous
Traveled to the shack, got invaded, killed him, then went right to the leonine warrior as I hadn't done it yet and Edgar was still available for summons.
- Anonymous
As of patch 1.04, if you come to Liurna (or talk to Hyetta) before delivering Irina's letter, Edgar will not show up at castle Morne, effectively skipping all dialogues. But the invader Edgar will still appear at revenger's shack
- Anonymous
Kind of weird how the fail state for his quest is just going to Liurnia, Irina immediately dies and he's nowhere to be seen just from touching the first grace after godrick
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
'follow the natural path of the ramparts' is quite possibly the most vague instruction I've received from this wiki.
- Anonymous
I believe that getting him to spawn at the Revenger's Shack after finishing the Morne quest might be reliant on you killing either a lord, or perhaps Godrick specifically. I had moved into Liurnia without killing Godrick and there were no corpses nor meat at the shack, but unfortunately I had killed Rennala and then Godrick before returning so I'm not sure if it's one or the other. On this time, there were corpses filling the shack and he invaded immediately.
- Anonymous
So I was gonna do Irina's quest where I deliver her letter to Edgar... but I went on and wandered around first and even got to Liurnia and met Hyetta... When I went to finally deliver the letter to Edgar, he's no longer where he's supposed to do. I even defeated the boss in that area but he still didn't spawn.
Did I do something wrong? Or have I unintentionally skipped the quest? I haven't checked the Revenger Shack yet so not sure if he'll appear there.
- Anonymous
Wish he didn’t drop a +8 weapon makes low level invasions harder to get especially when he drops a grape
- Anonymous
I think this quest itself is bugged. I went directly to Castle Morne right after meeting Irina and being asked to deliver the letter. Edgar is literally nowhere to be found. I did this before and after Stormveil Castle, both times No Edgar.
- Anonymous
After killing Leonine Misbegotten he was neither on the bench nor next to Irina. I have yer to reach the shack.
- Anonymous
Edgar isn't appearing in castle morne to deliver the letter I think the quest is bugged for me
- Anonymous
is there a way to get his variant of the banished Knight armor? it doesn't have the horns like the other types
- Anonymous
Also casts Wrath of Gold in his invasion. Just happened to me.
Unsure if he has this in his kit when attacked as a person.
- Anonymous
It’s sad to think that Shabriri grape was probably for Irina.
- Anonymous
If you killed Edgar before(either because you kill irina or you just kill him in the castle)but did not pick up the halberd. After he invade you and you kill him, do you still receive the halberd?(wondering if +8 halberd can be avoided? Or can be received twice, one for kill him before and one kill him invader)
- Anonymous
I fought another phantom at revenger shack and he doesnt show up here?
- Anonymous
If you visit Revenger's shack before completing Edgar's "questline" (talking to him nearby Irina's corpse) it will be empty, but after Edgar turned all Punishery there will be several corpses with raw meat dumplings in the shack. I assume those are his kills.
- Anonymous
If you kill phantom Edgar in liurnia before completing castle morne, Edgar won’t show up in the castle
- Anonymous
The 1.04 update made this quest weird. Defeating godrick first (and misbegotten after) skips quite a lot of Edgar and Irina's questline, Irina dies, Edgar does not show up to her after defeating misbegotten and Hyetta is next to the Lake-Facing Cliffs grace site. Doing the reverse, he disapears after giving him the letter if you rest at a grace, but does show up at Irina's location if you kill misbegotten. In both cases you get invaded at Revenger's Shack. TL;DR - You will not get some of the dialogue if you rest after giving him the letter or beat godrick first but overall you get the rewards.
- Anonymous
if he hasn't spawned in castle moorne just go to his invasion site, he invaded me there without me seeing him once, and he did drop the shabriri grape
- Anonymous
Personal theory: Edgar was being affected by Frenzy from the start, and Irina's death was simply the breaking point.
Evidence: He drops a Shabriri Grape, which appear to be eyes from the Frenzied, on death even before he finds out Irina is dead. Also, his castle is south of a village completely consumed by Frenzy, so there's a potential "infection" vector.

I WANT HIS ARMOR, please Hidetaka do something, I implore you the armor is just <3 <3 <3

Has anyone encountered a new bug post 1.04 where he isn't spawning at Castle Morne?
- Anonymous
Really?? That's it? I wanted his armor! Such a shame the questline is so short.
- Anonymous
Side note: If you kill Irina yourself and then meet Edgar at the place where she died, he will accuse you of killing her and be marked as an enemy, however it seems like he won't attack you until you attack him.
- Anonymous
The bug where he doesn't invade at Revengers Shack is fixed. I had this bug since day one. After patch 1.0.4 i ported to Revengers Shack, rested and waited til night, and suddenly the mount button greyed out and he appeared. Thank god Hyettas quest can finally be completed.
- Anonymous
If you rest at Lake Facing Cliffs and spawn Hyetta, Edgar does not despawn until you talk to her and give her a grape.
- Anonymous
Is there no way to get the grape without also picking up his +8 weapon?
Bugged for me unfortunately, as I only do completionist runs, this has ruined the 480 hours I have spent in base NG. I'm holding off on NG+ waiting for this to be fixed. I didn't start Irina's quest until I'd basically finished the game, got her letter, went to Castle Morne and Edgar never spawned. I left and came back, waited for days, tried spamming attacks and dying and coming back but nothing. Irina is dead, Revenger's Shack Grace was already discovered but I had never entered the shack or looted the corpses inside. He will not spawn for me and what's a moderate inconvenience for most people has totally broken my run. Super unfortunate that quests remain completely broken for so long, when a quick hotfix to force spawn him if he's not spawning on his own would do the trick and only take a few minutes of work.

really a let down side quest. he just go's mad seem to be what thay want us to think. ok sure yeah. but could ya show up a little bit why? no..... 180 than want to attack us an think w had something to do with it. really the last time we see him he was of sound mind an admited it was his fuilt now he blame us? lazy writing. evin a mad crazy man would be able to still tell what started it. an the hint that he started eating people? why sure ok for him if it tide to being driven crazy but he was out for revenge! that don't lead to cannibalism. with out some good answer. witch as it clear thay did not intend on showing us or telling us. or seem to give any more lore or hints to why. if he was just driven crazy an was mumbling incoherently here an their. than sure. but he sound mind in death. still thinking of his girl. so he not lost in term of his mind. tbh feel like thay could of put something more in this one for sure.
- Anonymous
Seems to me he should still be alive somewhere provided that you kill his invading phantom at the shack. Did not try killing him at Morne or the highway when he was corporeal.
- Anonymous
I have two theories regarding Edgar:
1: Edgar went crazy after the death of his daughter (It may seem normal)
2: Edgar killed his own daughter because he's been totally mad since the beginning of the game. I remind you that Elden Ring takes place in a relatively dark universe, your NPC friends often want to kill you at the end of the game, sometimes without real reasons.
I have proof: Revenger's Shack
There are many corpses inside, on which you can collect Raw Meat Dumplings from which we can guess what these consumables are made of, just read the description "Not recommended for those who prefer to know the origin of their meats" so... It's most likely human meat and coincidentally... Edgar invades you at this very place.
And you ? what are your opinions on this?
- Anonymous
After giving Hyetta one grape, he did not spawn at the castle; he did still invade at Revenger's Shack, though.
- Anonymous
If you have already killed godrick the grafted he seems to skip the talking parts and goes straight to the shack, so long as you haven't killed the area boss of liurnia lake he will invade there.
- Anonymous

On a save file I had before the most recent update his quest worked fine, but after they released the update that fixed other NPC quests now I can't get the quest to work for the life of me. He never even showed up at castle morne even though I went there right after getting the letter from Irina. I wonder how they managed to break a quest that was working before.
- Anonymous
Give him the letter then kill him to save him the pain of seeing his daughter dead. Killing him doesn't break the quest anyway & you get his +8 Halberd which is really, really strong early game.
- Anonymous
There's some unlisted dialogue.
If you attack him at Irina's corpse after he swears vengeance he says something like
"You were involved in Irina's undoing!"
"What could she have possibly done to deserve this?"
On death he'll say
"Irina... I'll be with you soon"
- Anonymous
Thought I was screwed in NG+ when I took Irina's letter and went to do other stuff, came back to Castle Morne for the Shabriri Grape and Egdar wasn't on the bench or at Irina's body. Went to the shack to check if he'd invade or not because that was gonna decide what ending I was gonna go for but thankfully he did invade so got the item needed for Hyetta's questline.
I would make you Elden Lord yourself if you gave me that unaltered banished knight armor without the horns
