Creatures and Enemies in Elden Ring are the wildlife and foes inhabiting the Lands Between. These hostile monters, animals, and NPCs are fought in order to progress through the game, or to obtain different types of items and resources, like Runes, Spells, and Equipment. This page contains a list of all Elden Ring Enemies, each with their individual page containing specific information; such as stats, locations, drops, and resistances. Enemies in Elden Ring retain the dark, brooding style that FromSoftware is known for. Grotesque and imposing figures, as well as traps like fire contraptions and ballistae, will attempt to stop the player from completing the journey for the elusive Elden Ring.

Invaders

A particular type of Enemies are NPC Invaders. These are foes that materialize at specific points throughout the game. They often bear relation to the story, and defeating them also yields Equipment, just like normal Enemies. Note that the invasion mechanic is also present as one of the PvP Multiplayer modes, meaning that other players can invade you while playing Elden Ring if connected to the servers. With the exception of Bloody Finger Nerijus, Invaders can only intrude on gameplay if at least one of the area Bosses is still alive (Legacy Dungeons, Evergaols, and nighttime Bosses do not count).

Bosses

For exceptional enemies like those blocking progress to the game or found at the end of Legacy Dungeons, see the Bosses page. These are greater rivals that can be identified by their health bar appearing at the bottom of the screen with the Boss name on it, as well as a notorious change of the in-game music. Many of these Bosses can also be found as normal enemies at some other point during gameplay, often as a "Lesser"-variant foe (e.g. Runebear and Lesser Runebear). This means that some features, like summoning spirits for help, may not be available when facing a Lesser variant. Similarly, features not accessible during Boss fights—like summoning Torrent—may be available, allowing for different combat strategies.

Ds3 definitely has much wider variation of k***ht type of enemies that are challenging but fair, but this game has simply more balanced and less annoying pve imo (not counting sorcerers and glintstone miners, they are the worst)

      • Anonymous

You'd think after some games, they'd have simple dynamics for their mobs.

Any random mob will jump in a dragon's fire or in front of a boulder if it cross the shortest path to the tarnished.
Knights will stop paying attention to the dogs killing them just for the player, dogs will drop the soldier in their mouth just for the player.

        • Anonymous

Be honest: how many of these are actually fun to fight? They might look cool and fit the environment, but if that was their only purpose, they would've been better off as scenery.

Don't get me wrong: some of the above ARE a lot of fun to fight, but that just makes it obvious that From can make NPC combat entertaining, and simply chose not to with most of what's on this page - about a third of it is stuff most people just run past / avoid, and another third is stuff you only fight either because you have to, or because it's holding something needed for a build.

          • Anonymous

Honestly they should have leaned into the eldritch gods aspect more and had us fight interesting enemies like we did in Bloodborne. Enemies in this game are a step down from BB.

Where is the Sanguine Noble, the Mountaintop of Giants Troll Variant, the Night Maiden Ant riders, and the exploding Jars?

              • Anonymous

I wish these games would either change some placements or even add in newer deadlier enemies exclusively on the ng+ runs. Dark souls 2 did this somewhat which I thought was one of that game’s strengths.

                • Anonymous

That's it I'm done. I'm going out of my way to melee every enemy I'm scared of until I'm not. Lobsters, Rune Bears, Flying Ants, and even Revenants. **** this game.

Idk if I just missed it but their was a stronger version of the stormhawk in stormviel castle but I only met him once in the courtyard so maybe add to stormhawk page?

                    • Anonymous

Why are there 2 pages for Nox Swordstress? First there is the proper one and then there’s one name “Swordstress” with a picture of a Night Maiden

                      • Anonymous

Honestly despite Elden Ring seeming to have more enemies than other Fromsoft souls games the enemies in Elden Ring are just...boring looking for the most part.

Hey Fex, could you add information about Absorption and Resistances to more enemies?
There's so much information on all the enemies, but i think Absorption/Resistances are the two informations that really matter gameplay-wise and they're missing for most enemies. Thanks!

Hate the rats, razor birds, Imps, the Hands, Royal Revenants, Albinauric Archers, Marionettes, but reserve a special kind of hatred for Kindred of Rot, those things need wiping out.

Hey guys does anyone know the name of the guy you can talk to at the first sight of grace? The one in Limgrave with the Roses in his hand. I attacked that guy and cant progress :/

All of you acting like input reading enemies and bosses is new...this crap started in at LEAST Dark Souls 3. Try drinking an Estus while fighting a Lothric Knight. That thing will immediately go for you everytime.

You're missing the two unique enemies that are facing the cliff where u can see the lake of rot but can't reach it. If that makes any sense. It's the only time u run into them

Non-boss version of the demi-human chief (larger than the two other varieties of demi-humans but smaller than the queen, and armed with 2 knives in the Hermit Village and other places) seems to be missing

What is the troll knight in front of the Volcano Manor entrance? It's not a standard troll knight, since he doesn't have a helmet, wears a carpet and can shoot a frenzy flame attack

I wish there was an in-game ''bestiary'' kind of feature, that would fill up with screenshots/3d models and quotes of all enemies as we'd kill them!

Hate flying enemies. Hate them. Those birds in Stormveil hit harder than the giant does. Reminds me of the old Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania games with how annoying they are.

I'm curious, I was looking through the game files and came across 2 entries for enemies that I can't place.

                                                Grinning Torturer

                                                Writhing Mass

It's possible they're also cut content like another NPC in the files. Especially as Writhing Mass is next to a bunch of bosses in the code.

I considered that maybe Writhing Mass was the giant ooze thing in Moghwyn Palace, but there's only one entry for Writhing Mass and there's a second giant ooze in Altus Plateau (Leading me to think they're actually the Giant Living Mass)

                                                • Anonymous

What are the large mobs called that have a head and Godrick, torso like trolls, and waist like the giant golem joints. They breath fire, and some can be found in Deeproot Depths

                                                  • Anonymous

There are spirit versions of common animals (Deer, Sheep, Eagles, etc) that can be found in The Mountaintops of the Giants and the cave where you battle the Regal Ancestor Spirit. The ones in the Mountains cannot harm or be harmed by any means, The Regal Ancestor Spirit, however, will kill the spirits in the cave to gain health.

There are also what I've taken to calling "Dragonlings" or "Adolescent Dragons" in Greyoll's Dragonbarrow. About six or seven are part of the fight against Greyoll and will die and remain dead when she dies, but there are another six or seven scattered all over the place that do respawn. They are about 1/3 of the size of other dragons like Agheel and Smarag, hit pretty hard and are fairly tough, but they don't have any breath attacks from what I've seen and they don't really fly around much, preferring to stay on the ground.

                                                    • Anonymous

Hey, For the section with the pictures and notes underneath, I noticed that you included the astral followers which you can find underground, but the regular followers are missing. Also the crystal enemies which you can shatter after a certain hp threshold are missing.

Would be good to know NPC Invaders by area so I know where to go before killing area bosses. Is that covered on here?

                                                                      • Apparently the Golden Order Greatsword oneshots Skeletons... They dont revive at all. I'm not sure why, its not in the description and other holy weapons also dont do this.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Something I don't really get: what *are* the soldiers and such you fight all game? In Dark Souls the human enemies were all Hollows, undead who've lost their minds to the curse. In Elden Ring, they're not undead- Those Who Live in Death are a very distinct and different thing- but they've got grey skin, moan and growl instead of speaking, and come back no matter how many times you kill them. All we really get from the item descriptions are that they're soldiers loyal to one Shardbearer or another who have 'long since lost their minds' according to the Lordsworn sword descriptions. So, they've been around long enough to go mad, they aren't undead, but they never actually die. What are they?

                                                                          • There is another enemy type not listed here. to the right of Altus Highway Junction grace beside the stairs. They have a sort of gravity magic scythe that seems like a low drop chance IMO

                                                                              • Anonymous

A lot. Mimic Tear revealed this when it cast a heal spell and killed it in two shots. I then tested this myself with the "Erdtree's Blessing" spell, causing it's health to tick down, rather than up like it would for the player. They also will not turn around when hit with these spells, as healing spells won't cause aggro to enemies that haven't noticed you yet, leading to a very easy stealth kill on them. TL;DR the BS grafted guys are like minecraft zombies.
