- Night Sorcery
- Duration: 10 seconds
- Stamina Cost: 15

It's a shame it doesn't absorb projectiles it draws in, but at least it looks pretty when absorbing lingering ones like Elden Stars or Star Shower. Build-an-observatory at home!
- Anonymous
Idea to make this actually useful: make it give you 15 fp per elemental projectile absorbed.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Should be noted that spells with the cannon of haima/mass of putrescence animation are not effected, and AOEs like microcosm and blades of stone bypass this as well. As a mage you should have enough variety in your spell rotation to counter this.
- Anonymous
Absolutely neuters PC Radahn's meteor phalanx, just don't stand right under it or you'll get dunked on.
- Anonymous
They should add that it doesn’t affect other night sorceries like night comet.

yo lets create a spell to counter magic itself NICE soudns cool, lets also make bosses have spells that are immune to this spell. WHAT the F dude
Somehow the few spells bosses use that are recognized as such are immune to this. E.g. Thop's barrier can repel Elden Stars, but they ignore Eternal Darkness entirely. Maybe some of those invisible/porting caster situations profit from this, but I doubt it. Could at least such up projectiles but of course it doesn't.
- Anonymous
Another useless spell that looks cool and could have easily been well designed, but for whatever reason was not made useful. The only way I can think of a use for this is using terra magica + old lord's talisman for a neat set-up.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
A useless spell at 10 sec durafion, not worth the time to cast. Needs to be at least 15 seconds if not 20.
- Anonymous
They should have made a spell called consuming darkness which is creating a black hole.

Mages have magic pots for a reason. Toss pots or crystal darts whenever Eternal Darkness comes out and you still get to make people dance and die.
- Anonymous
This spell is actually so stupid in pvp it just shouldnt be allowed mage builds just get cucked

- Anonymous
have someone use this while fighting furnace golem? the jump attack is easy to dodge but that fiery flying flame seems like incantation
- Anonymous
This is surprisingly good against the final dlc boss. You still have to somewhat dodge the rocks but this makes it easier and looks cool.

my personal theory is that this spell swallowed the moon of noxstella or something... or that this spell is a recreation of what swallowed it. since they used to have a full ass moon down there
- Anonymous
I don't care if all it does is succ, nothing will ever be as stylish as taking enemy magic and using it to create your own solar system
- Anonymous
They really missed a trick by not making it spit all the projectiles it sucked in back at the enemy
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Would be dope if the black hole affected all types of projectiles. Still Cool to look at though.
- Anonymous
Make it work the same, but the hole can become a hitbox that makes spells straight out vanish. Coolest of sorceries but at best a way to partially counter sorcery spammers, and even then you run the risk of being hit by something
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Could be a nod to Ains' Black Hole magic he is using against the clerics Dominion Authority summon in Overlord.
- Anonymous
Works on envoy bubbles; I would not have made it down the haligtree without it!

-Well, how actually long is this eternal darkness spell?
-Absolutely infinitely eternal! Almost...
-Almost? Okay, but could you tell me the exact value?
-Um... Hmm... If we speak exactly in numbers, then it lasts exactly... ten seconds
-What?! Ten seconds? So you want to say that the duration of your spell, in the name of which there is the word ETERNAL, is equal to ten seconds?
-Well, yes. But... But I guarantee you that these ten seconds will feel like an eternity!
-Oh, I have no words...
- Anonymous
It seems Eternal Darkness only affects other spells that have some sort of tracking aspect to them. Stuff like Elden Stars and all the cometshards are affected, but Lightning bolt and Triple rings of light don't have tracking so they aren't affected.
- Anonymous
Please tell me this works on scarlet aonia. I could throw down roiling magma and they would have to fly into it.
- Anonymous
Have you ever played a mage? have you struggled through Raya Lucaria? Well look no further! For the small price of a Caelid run, you don't have to worry about being smoked when running through ever again. Radagon dog's magic? What are you talking about? The Juvenal Scholar's books? No worries, they are now inside of interdemensional space. Renala's homing projectiles? No problem! With this out, she's almost defenseless. Get it today and be the mage's bane mage!
- Anonymous
I thought all dark themes were for Faith …. (Makes no sense Faith is holy and death)
- Anonymous
Someone just tried to use this on me when I cast triple rings, didn't pull the rings...
- Anonymous
Does anyone know if this is useful vs any bosses? I tried it against the Elden Beast's homing missiles and it didn't work. Can't really think of other bosses to try it against (aside from Rennala)
- Anonymous
This wasn't as effective in the bossfight against Rennala as I thought it would be. Weird.
- Anonymous
HONESTLY would've "actually" be useful if this affected "all types of projectiles" instead of a few.... and would be PERFECT if it had a massive area of effect. But no, it is what it is

Wish there were anti-sorcery incantations... INT-INT matchups seem cool but INT-anything else is just carian retaliation, dodge rolling and waiting for the blue juice to run out.

It appears to no longer work vs the Elden beasts version of Elden stars. -Patch 1.08

Highly effective defense spell when dealing with the Bugerking King wannabes in the academy.
Also effective when dealing with those magical giant flowers that like using mass spell missiles on you.
- Anonymous
Not working against erdtree avatars, just tried it and golden land goes right by it

should also suck in arrows, perfect counter to pulley crossbow nerds
Anyone got a counter to this in pvp I have encountered spammers using this thing so I can’t erdtree deflect it as I tried and it just sucked it up I can’t rush them since they’re spamming out magic like it’s Omaha Beach
- Anonymous
I actually have a lot of fun with this one as a sort of safety net. For example, casting it periodically while fighting Alberich allows you to spam your own spells without fear of his ice comets hitting you. The idea is to either cast from a distance and stay underneath the orb, or cast and retreat directly back so that you can maintain distance while the other spells get sucked into its orbit. (It's definitely designed more for ranged builds, basically.)
If you really want to see its full potential, try casting it when the blue Miranda flowers cast their series of homing comets, then take a few steps back. Damn thing turns into a nuclear reactor, lol.

This looks like Astel's eye. So does the giant moon in Ranni's ending.
Considering sorceries are all about conjuring the powers of stars and moons and whatnot, I'm pleasantly surprised to see one that summons a black hole.
- Anonymous
I was so happy when I found this at Caelid, after having those centipedes piercing 128 different holes on me, thought I'd show them finally...
That joy didn't last long though, it doesn't work on pest threads.
- Anonymous
Maybe it's because Adula is weird, but it drew in none of her magic projectiles... Maybe ill have more luck with Gideon.
- Anonymous
In my opinion not really practical for general PvE, but it's awesome if I'm in any situation where I can expect PvP, especially if I'm helping hosts as a summon. Doesn't hard-counter magic like Vow of Silence in Souls, but this and Law of Regression can put a lot of pressure on spammers and result in them wasting a lot of FP, which is valuable if they also use Bloodhound Step spam as a crutch. Often forces them into an unfavorable situation where they have to use spells that leave them more vulnerable - Comet Azur seems to be a popular (and terrible) choice of counter when they realize projectiles are just flying into Astel's Magic Bunghole
- Anonymous
Tried this against Loretta at the Haligtree. She laughed and hit me in the face with 3 arrows.
- Anonymous
If you cast this you vanish and play another game that was on GameCube with the same name and instead of playing Elden Ring you play Bloodborne detective.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Apparently this spell does not reflect night sorceries, but need further tests
- Anonymous
Using this against Loretta is funny. Using this against erdtree avatar projectiles is less funny.
- Anonymous
Should have a much larger and longer effect on its spell absorbing properties or allow it to vacuum targets for some space control because I wouldn't even go as far as calling it niche in its current form. Ran to it early just so I could make use of it when I got to Raya Lucaria (where it should definitely come into its own) but dear me. Swing and a miss for me I'm afraid.

Needs a hard buff. Its a good spell in concept, but in execution its very poor and situational. Very small radius, high Int requirement, and low duration make this spell impractical for most situations, both in duels and invasions.
You have to constantly recast it and stay within the radius, essentially making you a sitting duck. This is bad for both invasions and duels, since there is a lot of weapon arts and spells this doesnt cover. This is very useful in 1v1 duels against another mage, but for most invasions ive found this to be very little help.
Hopefully they double the duration or make the radius larger.

This should have vacuumed everything to its origin, not just spells.
Space control could have been a nice direction to progress in, aside from 'hey come closer to me so you can wreck me in person' with gravitas and the gravity well spells.
- Anonymous
Definitely does not work against dragon breath attacks, learned that the hard way lol
- Anonymous
Even as a pure intelligence caster, this is useful to keep with you when you invade/duel in PvP. Can potentially hard counter other sorcerers.
But it apparently works against incantations as well?
- Anonymous
I wish the INT requirement for this spell was a little lower. Would be nice to use alongside the low INT/high STR weapons like the Ruins Greatsword.
- Anonymous
A spell with interesting, counter-sorcery implications. Its duration is about 15 seconds, and the Old Lord's Talisman does NOT extend it, but Radagon's Icon does improve the speed you cast it. It's a little limited in what it can absorb, but it works against some of the big names like Stars of Ruin. Yet to see if it properly absorbs unusual spells that typically can't be absorbed/reflected like Flies, and I doubt it works against sword or mist-types like Adula's Moonblade. It's stationary, which limits its use when chasing, but one large upside: it does not interrupt the caster's own spells.

I cast this spell and stand near it but i still get hit by spells. am i casting it wrong?

I love this spell. In the right circumstances, it’s worth 3 memory slots. But do note that it only works against Tarnished SORCERIES— so those lightning strikes will keep on coming.

i've been using elden stars a lot in duels as an opener, just to mess with people, it's pretty funny seeing them run around panicking, especially because a lot of people seem to think it's a buff. that was until one guy immediately cast eternal darkness and just stood there looking smug. i was both embarrassed and impressed, and could only clap in response.
TL:DR i'm putting this on my low INT utility sorcery build because even if it only works one time, it will be worth it.

Tested: Does not work against any Second stage Final Boss spells.
This is more a pvp spell than anything else.
- Anonymous
for some reason, this is internally noted as a karolos sorcery (boosted by azur's glintstone crown). no idea why.
- Anonymous
after getting this the first thing I tried was agaisnt the sticky bugs incantation from shrimp nearby.
"well so that was a fkn lie" I said after failing miserably
then tried again against erdtree avatar nearby and reading the spell description twice
"well so that was a fkn lie, this spell is absolute garbanzo"
reading the comments gave me more determination to keep trying.
the testing continues...

This spell counters any tracking projectile glitches. Including the one shot spell parry glitch.
- Anonymous
This spell is the definition of unfair and shouldn't be allowed in pvp. How can spell cost 25 fp cancel out Stars of Ruin which cost 38 fp? I fought someone who use this every single time I used Stars of Ruin until I ran out of fp and they kill me with their sword. I think this game just hates spellcasters
- Anonymous
Go to the East Liurnia Lake Shore grace, go 50 paces north, and use this against the magic Giant Miranda Flower when it uses its projectile attack. Treat yourself, it's been a hard road.
- Anonymous
This works on the unending rain of bubbles from the 1 giant oracle envoy at the haligtree, but i found myself needing to cast this spell multiple times while running through the branch because if i wwnt too far from it, the bubbles would fly past the black hole.
In a nutshell its a great defensive "turret" against spells and incantations but bad if you're in constant motion.
Still i wish it had a sliightly longer duration
- Anonymous
I cast this against stars of ruin spammers and then spam stars of ruin back at them. Hilarious when they start to roll away and stare at you when their one trick fails
doesn't work against Crystallian sorcerers, doesn't work against Elden Beast, doesn't work against Erdtree Avatars. You had one job!

For fellow ranged casters struggling with Preceptor Miriam: this spell trivializes the fight.

The lore implications of this are stupendous. We find this spell in Sellia, which is located on top of Nokron. Did the people of that eternal city literally summon a black hole which led to their destruction?
can't wait for the sanity's requiem spell in elden ring 2
