Negations (or Absorptions)
The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Fallingstar Beast Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Fallingstar Beast:
- Any Throwing Pot can be used to hit its face while it charges to knock it to the ground
- Use ashes that deal elemental damage, like Glintstone Sorcerer or Twinsage Sorcerer
- Use the Hoarfrost Stomp skill as an easy source of elemental damage
- Use the Flame of the Redmanes skill to quickly build up stance damage
- Almost all of its attacks do Physical damage, so bring a Shield with 100% Physical Resistance
Melee Users
Play it Safe: Fallingstar Beasts have high defense, lots of health, strong attacks, and quick movement. Focus on staying alive and learning to dodge its various attacks. Try to stay two or three boss-lengths away and wait for good openings where you can get in one or two attacks, particularly on its vulnerable face. Even when it raises its head, you can often hit its face with a jump attack.
Critical Theory: When you break Fallingstar Beast's stance and get the opportunity for a critical hit, don't take it right away. It'll stay down for four full seconds, during which its face is totally vulnerable. Get in a couple good whacks before you do the critical hit by using heavy attacks or jump attacks to avoid triggering the crit too early.
Magic and Ranged Users
Dodge and Weave: The most important thing to do is avoid death. This is a long battle against a strong foe, so focus on learning to dodge or block its attacks and only get in your own damage during one of the Fallingstar Beast's long recovery periods. Be patient, don't get greedy, and eventually you'll take it down.
Fallingstar Beast Attacks & Counters
Attack | Description | Counter |
Head Swing | Swings its head in various directions to hit the player with its mandibles | Maintain distance or dodge toward its sides and get a few hits in while it finishes attacking |
Tail Sweep | Pivots, may pause for a bit, then sweeps its tail along the ground to hit the player | Wait until you see the tail actually make contact with the ground, then roll through it |
Hind Stomp | Rears onto its front legs, then slams down its hind legs. Usually used when you're behind it | Dodge backwards when you see its legs fold up towards its torso |
Fore Stomp | Rears onto its hind legs, then slams down its front feet (and sometimes its head as well) | Roll backwards and don't try to punish this, just wait out its combo |
Gouge | Spreads its mandibles and shoves them into the ground, then rips them up while moving forward | Roll diagonally forward and to the side |
Bite | Hops back and turns its left flank to you, clicks its mandibles together, then swoops down counterclockwise to bite you. If it hits, lifts you up then slams you down | Dodge right as soon as you see it start to swoop down, then unlock and get in a few hits on its vulnerable face |
Rock Throw | Jams its head into the ground, then jerks it out throwing forward a spray of rocks | Either guard or roll forward through the rocks. The rocks fly far, so be ready to roll no matter where you are in the arena |
Rock Sweep | Rears its hind legs into the air as it pivots, then sweeps its tail along the ground in the same direction as its pivot kicking rocks into the air | Move towards the Beast and the rocks will often go over your head on their own, but roll into them just in case |
Beast Roll | Backs up, then jumps into the air and curls into a ball. After hovering for a moment, crashes down towards the player | Roll to either side as soon as you see it start to descend, then get in a few hits while it recovers |
Gravitas | Rises onto its hind legs, then falls down with a burst of purple magic which pulls you in if you're nearby, then raises its head and summons rocky spikes out of the ground around it | You can sprint away when you see it rear up, but this attack doesn't do much damage so it may be worth just trading hits |
Gravity Bolt | Its mandible glow purple lightning as lightning gathers under your feet, then lifts its head and calls a small cluster of stone spikes up where the lightning lingers. Does this once more in a small area, then finally in a much larger area | Sprint to avoid the first two hits, then sprint to the edge of the area of the third hit and roll as you approach the boundary. Try to end up near the boss to get in a few hits as it recovers |
Charge | Lowers its head, opens its mandibles, and paws at the ground with its front hoof before charging full-speed towards the player, doubling back twice | Roll to either side as it approaches, or else hit its face with any attack that deals any amount of stance damage (including spells and throwing pots) to cause it to fall to the ground and give you time to get in several hits |

The one on Atlus Plateau is pretty easily cheesed on horseback. You can get a lot of free damage when he locks in place to cast the earth spikes, just keep circling him on horse and get free hits in. His tail swipe and charge are pretty easy to dodge as well when mounted.
The one in the Sellia tunnel is bullshit though, especially if you end up there quite early in the game. Janky hitboxes and a tiny arena.

I just found out they nerfed this boss, it doesn't do the second phase gravity AOE attack and beam attack. I honestly didn't have that much problem with this thing. I'm sure I died over 5 times, but I definitely know I didn't die more than 10. It was a bit tricky and required some luck. I always summoned the Spirit Jellyfish +3 to draw aggro, and even with my +6 Uchigatana I was able to deal significant damage with Unsheathe and stagger it for a critical hit. Definitely the most difficult boss I fought up to it, but not that bad honestly. I probably should've just left it for later, but I had a pretty decent amount of runes, and whenever I came back I noticed significant improvement in fighting it.

Literally the worst Boss so far for me in Elden Ring. It's like From Software has nothing learned from all the previous games and thrown the balancing in the trash with this one
- Anonymous
This thing's charge attack is unavoidable in the crystal tunnel under certain angles. Even when perfectly dodging the charge the attack lingers and is larger than the beast itself. If you are too close to the wall this can result in it just charging into it and hitting you in the recovery.
This boss is a terrrible fit for the Crystal tunnel, and whoever put it there should feel ashamed. It is clearly designed for larger open areas.

To think that this might've been the first ever Souls boss for new players who got caught in the chest trap...

Sellia crystal tunnel one was much easier than Altus Plateau one, yet dropped higher level stones reward. Weird. Maybe they got mixed up and From never bothered to change

One of the most memorial mini bosses in the game. Two hand a colossal greatsword and get to work boys

Weird, it didn’t let me summon spirit ashes for this fight …
- Anonymous
Holy fk the braziers in this room are a complete nightmare, whoever designed this and thought it was a good idea is a dumbass
- Anonymous
His hitbox is too big. Even a perfectly timed dodge can and likely will result in you getting hit because his hitbox lasts longer than your i-frames.
- Anonymous
Whoever said "use Hoarfrost Stomp" to quickly build elemental damage has obviously never actually tried to do so or they'd know that HFS is notoriously glitchy and will regularly not fire off the waves of ice if used in an area where the ground isn't even. There are maybe two tiny sections of the entire arena where using the stomp actually does meaningful damage. Instead,it normally hits for about 30 damage and gets you killed
- Anonymous
I find this monster very tough. It can kill me in one or two hits. I can't stagger it. I can't get to it's head. If I think I have an opening to attack, as soon as I hit the attack button, it dodges back out of range, then flattens me while I'm recovering. I can't shield all of it's gravity magic damage, and running isn't enough to dodge it either, only perfectly timed invincible dodge rolls. Immune to bleed. I can't maintain enough stamina to block it's combos. I've only ever beaten these things with Comet Azur and luck. I haven't found a good cheese strategy.
I'm trying a Greataxe build now, and want to kill this for smithing stones, but I'm not getting close at all to killing it. Will try a Giant Hunt or Piercing Fang Zweilander next, but I imagine it will just dodge back and kill me. Rot and poison pots and run away while it's health ticks down? I'm thinking it will despawn and lose the procs. If nothing works, will just ignore it and get the Smith Stone Ball Bearing from Zamor Ruins.

Lol what are you guys complaining about this was easy as ****

here’s how I did it in the tunnel, on patch 1.08.1 (the rot through the door was patched). Use a group sprit ash that’s leveled, I used demi humans +5, and a high damage elemental spell, I used dragon flame. when the boss is distracted by your summons, use your spells to melt him, finish with melee if needed, also bring a shield.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
MEDIUM SHIELDS AND ABOVE are key for under leveled players! After hours of attempts, I beat this at RL28, with 2 Talisman Slots (Blue-Feathered Branchsword and Erdtree's Favor). I equipped the little bit of armor that had the most physical damage negation, used my +2 Uchigatana and Medium Shield with 100 physical damage negation, and had no buffs (although honestly only because I had none to use after my previous attempts). The key is realizing 1.) The fight will be a long one, and 2.) Every recovery the boss does should be repaidwith a jumping attack to its head, preferably slash, because of the lack of defense + chance to Stance Break. Keep a medium distance to the beast so that the camera doesn't work against you but so that you can also run to do the jumping attack whenever possible. Lastly, any projectile attacks that the beast does CAN be dodged, but its so much more convenient and less risky to just roll through them.

Horrible, Annoying, Unfair, BS, Stupid, an absolute capstone to making the crystal tunnel the worst place i have experienced in many many games played over 25 years.
stick close and to its side, and you can melee it while it will actually push you out of the way of some of its attacks, block with a shield if you have one good enough, it will floor you but you will survive it with the chance to get a hit in. tankiest summon, and the rapier i got from killing that one invader at the round table...
i will never willing do that fight fairly again.

anyone else tihnk these guy are just the juvenile form of Astel's species like the way antlions are to damsel flies

I think looking at these boss fights as an endurance test as recommended in their combat information makes it more difficult than it already is.
For Sellia crystal tunnel and full grown beast at Mt. Gelmir I summon the five mausoleum soldiers then try to take advantage of the distraction they provide before it kills me and it has worked well for me. I don't think chipping away at their HP bar is the best strategy for these bosses.
- Anonymous
I didn't find this or the full grown falling star beast at the top of Mt Gelmir to be as hard as some of the comments. The one in Gael tunnel is zero for two but the full grown beat me on the first attempt and I killed it on the second and just gone exactly the same for me on NG+ I find the one in capital outskirts to be the most difficult of the three. It has more room there to do all sorts of wacky stuff.
- Anonymous
Everything this guy does seems undodgeable save a few. I’m not gonna sit here holding block and summoning ashes like a turd…
- Anonymous
Am I missing a grace or something? The run to the fight in the crystal tunnel is harder than the fight itself.
- Anonymous
like most of the bosses its strenght lies in the huge speed advance he has over the player.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Yup, this is the one. I found it. This is the most bullshit boss.
As a monster hunter fan, this fight truly follows monster hunter tradition. Fight is incredibly fun the first time around. The second time you get ****ing oneshot by its ****ing body rubbing up to you, which for some reason does damage half the time and just pushes you around the other half of the time. Truly the best and worst.

The field boss variant is a solid contender for worst boss, but this mf is even more awful in a cave ;-;

i am not able to cast the rotten breath trough the door in crystal tunnel

not sure what happened, but the sellia one died in a single hit. started charging and while it was running into the wall i slapped it with carian slicer and it immediately keeled over. wacky but at least i dont need to deal with that anymore.

I think sleep may work, I used the Sword of St. Trina L2 and it seemed to stun him for a bit. Not long, but enough to get an attack in.

Rock Sling can stagger this boss, if you can get a few repeated hits in.

This boss is just absolute bullshit. His tail whip covers half the arena, his charge last so long he can run around the arena 3 times, and he can do a sharp 180 degree turn while charging.
I swear, I'd have more fun fighting the bed of chaos checkpointless than this crap in the crystal mines
- Anonymous
Elden ring is massive compared to bloodborne, that's a given, but it does prove the old adage of quality being better than quantity. So far its been one s***ty boss fight after another. The only boss I've seen up to now that comes even close to any of the bosses in bloodborne was the golden shade, and that was over disappointingly quickly once I had a feel for the timing of its attacks. Every other boss has had the artificial difficulty of a massive health pool, high damage resistance and hit hard, rather than clever and good design like most of the bosses in bloodborne had.

Really wish we got the gravity sorceries it uses as sorceries for ourselves - hell, they're kinda coded into the game already as consumables!

RL 30, used only knot tears and heirloom talismans, and the blasphemous blade. doesn't destroy him outright, but gives you a huge chance, beat him right under the 3 minute mark
- Anonymous
A pretty cool fight and very defiant too. It's kinda disappointing that they don't drop any cool gravity weapon or sorcery tho

If it weren’t for all the good smithing stones these guys drop on top of the Beast Jaw and bell bearing I wouldn’t even bother. How does a boss that tanky, fast, aggressive with amazing heal punishes, immense poise and immunity to bleed and frostbite drop the same amount of runes as a Tibia Mariner

I don’t hate this boss particularly. I had fun fighting it in Altus. I just hate Sellia Tunnel as a whole. Small Arena, Homing projectiles, long run back.
- Anonymous
From Software needs to put a stake of Marika outside the one in Sellia Crystal Tunnel. The run back to the boss has multiple enemies blasted a barrage of projectiles and of course a ladder you need to climb. So you pretty much have to kill these things to get back to the boss. Returning to this once I have OP ash summons.
- Anonymous
I can’t believe I beat him on the first try! I only had five crimson tears and one wondrous physick by the time I got to the boss. I used bloodhounds fang +6 with bloodhounds finesse, jellyfish ashes+4. I attacked him with the finesse quite a lot. I saved my physick flask for the last 30% of the fight. Somehow I did it!
- Anonymous
I'm not sayings it's that hard but it definitely us the worst boss in the game, especially in the crystal tunnel where the camera is going awol
- Anonymous
Could someone in fromsoft please but a site of grace before this boss in the Selia tunnels. Kindred of rot drain basically all your flasks if you aren't overcompensating. Having a site of grace hear would make this level tolerable.

Like everyone else has said, Flame of the Redmanes is what you want. 2 hits to the fur on its face will stagger it. Use Spiked Cracked Tear and once it's staggered, hit its face with a fully charged R2 attack. It'll do huge damage. Depending on your level/build/weapon it should take between 2-4 rounds of this. Whoever first came up with this strat is a genius.
- Anonymous
Killed the one in the mines at Character level 1. Didn't take the offer of strength for runes so no horse, roundtable, spirits, or player summons cause my matchmaking cant find another lvl 1 in that dungeon. flame of the redmanes to stagger then crit with a fire enchanted Uchigatana at +18. Had it dead on the second attempt. Bubble and Eclipse Crest shield for defence if you cant roll out in time. Flame of the redmanes is crazy strong, if your struggling its a good tactic.
- Anonymous
Does anyone else feel like these were nerfed in patch 1.04?? Before they terrified me as they were just so aggressive and fast, but now I’m noticing they tend to slow down between attacks giving you plenty of time to strike. I feel like they are easier now and I don’t remember them ever not attacking before.
- Anonymous
Fun on horseback. Though challenging, I wish there were more of these.
- Anonymous
Found the Lhutel the Headless summon to be very useful in drawing aggro and letting me get some hits in, even for the Altus one. Her constant phasing in and out had her constantly avoiding hits that let her last longer than pretty much any other summon I tried and regularly had it turned around and not leaping away from me at the last moment for once.
- Anonymous
Started off with 3 consecutive Black Knife Blade of Death AoW which took a big chunk of his health bar then hit him with back to back Flame of the Redmane’s + Trolls Hammer w/ BFB, Flame Grant me Strength + Flame Shrouding Cracked Tear and this fight was a breeze. He basically never had a shot. Highly recommend this set up/Strat.
if you decide to cheese, two poison mists usually cap out at 1400 ish damage at my level. good to keep in mind if youre multi tasking during this tedious task
- Anonymous
Flame of the redmanes ash of war will stagger it in two hits to the head, allowing for a reposte. Very op if you're struggling. (might be exclusive to the Celia one though)
- Anonymous
They are pretty fun to fight imo when you're not locked into them in a closet of an arena
- Anonymous
Flame of the Redmanes on an upgraded battlehammer took the sellia crystal tunnel version into a cheesefest. The Flame did more damage than a strike, faster than a normal strike, and also staggered him in three/four hits.
I don't know if the boss can be animation-canceled or have conditions to chain attacks; but during the 'Upheaval' move where it's supposed to do 2 small rock bursts followed by a big rock burst; one time he did FOUR (4) small rock bursts in a row before the big one.

This and the Misbegotten Warrior/Crucible Knight combo are contenders for most annoying fight in the game…

Try using determination with rusted anchor and jumping power attacks, this fight isn't even hard for a melee build.
- Anonymous
If you hit the white spot, which causes a bleeding animation enough times, you CAN make it bleed. Was doing jump attacks with Spiked Caestus (2handing) and managed to hit it several times, before triggering the bleed animation and chunking it for massive damage, in the Caelid location.
I see tons of messages on the ground suggesting to do a gesture. Is it a thing or just trolls?
After finishing the rest of the game I was like "guess who's back" and 3 shot this mother****er with a moonblade before he could even move. That felt gud.
- Anonymous
If you use winged scythe and spam it’s ability around his mid body section most of his attacks will miss you ( you straight jump over them) plus the holy damage helps. Mostly watch for his purple rock slam attack.
- Anonymous
For as BS this guy is, the Altus Plateau one should really drop something worthwhile. How about a flail/whip made from its tail? The full-grown already gives us its mandible
- Anonymous
This is so easy with Rykard's Rancor. I literally spam the spell and just keep rolling underneath the beast.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
My biggest gripe is that none of these creatures drop their tail as a whip. With all the bleed katana, surely another bleed whips wouldn’t have hurt the game.
- Anonymous
Blood Slash works quite well if you're playing a bleed build
- Anonymous
I don't know why but its moveset kind of reminds me of the cut great one beast from bloodborne
- Anonymous
Latenna makes this fight easy i didn't realize how fast she can attack. I have her at +3 and she was firing off arrows constantly keeping the damage up so combined with my attacks the beast got stunned quickly. Just place her in the spot you are in when you first walk in and it will be a bit harder for the beast to kill her.

I love how my slash damage Bloodhound Gang still does more damage than my more upgraded strike and thrust weapon do. Seems like a "hardened" foe who would resist slash and be weaker to strike
You know this is one of "those" horrible enemies that people absolutely hate in a Fromsoft game because you'll spot the occasional comment of "lol it's easy you guys need to get good" type of comment.
Or you can play the game, get confused at how they made such a horrible bossfight experience and end up here trying to figure out the best approach.
It's weaker to elements than physical (if you're not a caster, you can use Ashes of War to get yourself an element, like Flaming Strike);
A shield with 100/near 100 physical resistance and nice amount of Stability might help if you're struggling with the dodging, though the gravity attacks will need you to run and time dodges well. You're also not going to be able to block too much because he sometimes applies bleed and you can't block status application;
Applying a status (Poison/Rot) might help quite a bit with the damage if you're able to survive long enough;
Finally, this isn't a guide or helpful hint comment on the bossfight, but none of the Fallingstar Beasts are needed to beat the game: all of them grant things you can get normally otherwise. If this is giving you too much of a headache, consider avoiding it. You can get your souls back by using a Sacrificial Twig talisman and if you don't have one of those, you'll get those souls back faster by avoiding the fight and continuing the game. Plus you avoid a headache and an unsatisfying enemy that doesn't even feel good to beat.
