The Finger Seal is a Sacred Seal in Elden Ring. The Finger Seal scales with Faith, and is a good Weapon for any character that wishes to use Incantations. This is likely the first seal the player will acquire on their journey.

A sacred seal bestowed by a Finger Maiden which serves as a catalyst for casting sacred incantations.

Incantations must be memorized first at a site of grace, and a sacred seal must be equipped to cast them.

Where to Find Seal in Elden Ring

The Finger Seal can be found at the following locations:

Elden Ring Finger Seal Notes & Tips

  • Skill: No Skill.
  • This weapon cannot be buffed with Ashes of War.
  • The Finger Seal can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
  • The best seal for the early-game and at lower levels of faith. It's well worth upgrading until a better or more specialized seal is obtained.
  • Its low faith requirement can be met with any build especially with faith-boosting items such as the Two Fingers Heirloom, and its easy acquisition may make it desirable for those looking to further Brother Corhyn's questline.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.08 a bug that prevented the follow-up attack from occurring when the Black Sword Incantation was activated with a Sacred Seal in the left hand has been fixed.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

Which page is correct for the max incantation scaling, this page (254 @ +25 and 80 faith) or the sacred seals page (324 @ +25 and 80 faith)?

      • Anonymous

Am I the only one who thought from the title and the icon that this was meant to close around your fingers? Like in order to cast incantations you had to chastise your fingers in some way.

        • Pretty good seal at 20 or less Faith, when you're casting purely utility-based incantations with low requirements, or for a sorcerer when they need to cast Intelligence incantations like Law of Causality. I kinda wish it increased casting speed or something to make up for it's lack of specialization in a specific incantation family though.

          • I am about to go into NG+1, and I'm switching from melee to incantation-based character. I plan on using a variety of incantations based on the situations I'm facing. Would you say that sticking beithe the Two Finger seal for all incantations is the best bet, as opposed to switching seals all the time? It dure sounds simpler. Thanks.

If I wanted to do a 80 strength / 27 faith build for an Ordovis crucible knight build, would this be better than the clawmark seal for aspects of the crucible spells? The clawmark seal seems to be pretty sucky, but maybe my high strength will make up for it?

i dont really like this game, I only killed the first boss, I fell off a cliff, pretty raw, thats not all, i went to caelid and died to everything i seen, until then i now am a better player, so i come again to play.

                    So to summarize:
If you have a pure str/pure dex/quality build, and can spare some points in faith, use electrify armament with this. Might as well grab golden vow, with 25 faith.

That will give you an extra push in your dmg output, without extremely heavy investing

Could someone put this info/ link on the Incantations page? I kept looking up how to use incantations on this wiki but couldn’t find the info. I stumbled upon the info on a video. Please excuse my ignorance

                      • Did an experiment, and it seems the Finger seal is better for weapon enhanment encantantions.

                        I did a Beast seal +10 with 150 scaling
And Finger seal +6 with 120 scaling

                        Stats
                        30
                        20

                        10

The finger seal was still higher damage boost.

Dunno if bug or thats just how it is with weapon enchantment.

I tested lightning blade, order blade, and bloodflame blade with all the sane results

So if it's not a bug finger seal is superior for this purpose?

I’ve heard that godslayer seal beats this out ever so slightly, but has anyone tested gravel stone? Looks like same scaling

It's of literally no use to anyone what your incantation scaling is if you don't also include the amount of points you have in faith

                              • Anonymous

Use this seal a lot with every kind of incant only flame frenzy scales lower dont have dragon seal to test that one but I', +21 on it. and scales pretty good at +70 faith.

I feel like it would make sense that the all-rounder seal would have the most spell buff because it doesn't boost any specific incantations but for some reason they decided that godslayer's seal should powercreep this in every way

                                  • Anonymous

Wanted to test this myself to see if Godslayer's Seal, Finger Seal or Erdtree Seal were better than the others for generalist use of mixing different incantation schools. Hope to help people reach a conclusion. Going to be posting this on their respective pages for visibility.

Testing at different levels of Faith show that, upon being upgraded equally with the same Faith (for the most part), Godslayer's Seal is just every so slightly better than Finger Seal by a few points on Incantation scaling (286 vs 291 at +25 for both, 60 faith). The difference is smaller at lower levels of upgrades (like 1 point of scaling difference at +0) but Godslayer's is better by that tiny margin and has the Godslayer damage boost for every level of upgrade and faith.

Erdtree Seal only beats out Godslayer's at 69 faith (hehe funny number) by 1 point at +25 for both once again, and goes up to a 24 difference at 80 faith (329 vs 353). You also have to consider Godslayer's boost as well. After testing at basically every faith level from 69 to 99, Black Flame incantations do more on Godslayer at every level, but the difference is incredibly tiny to where if you're at that high level of Faith, it's not gonna matter, especially since you'd be using it to mix schools anyway. Sidenote: the scaling difference between Erdtree and Godslayer's is less at 99 (12 point difference), which is extremely weird but shouldn't really matter unless you really, really want to max out your faith past the soft-cap.

Or you can just equip Godslayer's in your off-hand for the boost lmao

In conclusion, Godslayer's is just plain better than Finger Seal whenever you can equip it. Why this balance is like this, I have no clue.
Erdtree Seal is better than Godslayer's at high faith (>=69), and gets much stronger up to 80.

Godslayer for low to medium Faith, Erdtree for very high Faith for generalist incantation users.

So after spending a stupid amount of time looking up stats and wasting a few larvas myself, if you are like me and doing a Dex plus Faith build where you find yourself using faiths from the whole Faith family tree, just simply stick to the starting fingers seal IT IS the best one if you want to use everything without weird compromises and are not at some high faith level like 60+.

I really wish there was Dex / Faith seal but alas, this is the best you'll get unless you over level yourself to the point where you have like 70 faith and 70 dex, than Erdtrea becomes better.

                                      • Anonymous

If anyone is curious the attribute scaling does affect incant damage as well as the scaling. I tested this using 30 faith O' flame surge with finger seal + 8 (incant scaling:147, faith scaling B.) and clawmark seal +4(incant scaling: 150, faith scaling D). One tap of rb caused 68 dmg to godrick soldier for finger seal , while clawmark only did 34.

                                        • Anonymous

I'd be curious to see the incant power at +0/+24 on this and Clawmark with minimum investment (re: 10 Faith). The inherent incant value vs. the seal scaling probably makes a big difference in the power of the seals when people are posting their values for all the seals with 40, 50, 70 Faith (and so on).

Finding the boost to spell damage in a 0->24 without any stat investment is of relative interest I think, since there's bound to be some subset of people using as few stats as possible and making up the gap with talismans and gear.
