Flame, Grant Me Strength is an Incantation in Elden Ring. The Flame, Grant Me Strength spell raises physical and fire-affinity attack power.
Superior incantation of the Fire Monks.
Creates an invigorating fire within that enhances physical and fire-affinity attack power.
This incantation does not burn the caster, and so it is considered forbidden by the guardians of the Flame.

Builds with Flame, Grant Me Strength
This stopped working for incantations and sorceries after the newests 1.09 along with golden vow and howl of shabriri. Bugged because you still see the spell buff icon appear after using them.

We need something similar but for lighting, magic and holy damage.

Did we really need a hundred imbedded youtube pvp montages showcasing the builds that make use of this incantation? (It's all of them. Every build uses this incantation. We get it.)

Melee and fire users are so lucky
Meanwhile we mages are stuck with terra magica, when you're a pure battlemage that only use melee spells with an aggressive playstyle terra magica is trash..
This single incantation is exactly why fire hybrids are one of, if not the strongest dps hybrids in the game. Other types like holy hybrids, simply can't compete.
Flaming Strike (Weapon Buff) + Flame/Fire (Weapon Affinity) + Flame, Grant Me Strength (body buff) + Golden Vow (aura buff)
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Buffs+and+Debuffs
On top of that, all fire incantations are extremely versatile and strong.

A very, very, very good damage buff incantations, especially for pve.
Now in pvp there's just one thing holding it back: mages or even worse pure caster mages, as at this point you would most likely benefit much more from barrier of gold then more damage, as decent enough mage builds can dish out a truly ridiculous amount of damage in a very short time, without taking moonveil into consideration...
- Anonymous
Genuinely one of the best incantations in the game; especially for RL1.
With a +9 flaming strike fire infused claymore, FGMS, and strength knot + flame shrouding physick flask, I have an AR of 656. Absolutely nutty. Could obviously push it further with red-feathered branchsword, blue dancer charm, and fire scorpion charm if you're doing no hit. Damage is really not an issue for a RL1 run in this game lol.

Hey kind of new to Elden ring, can you have the Ash of War " Flaming Strike " buff and the " Flame Grant Me Strength " buff active at the same time ?
- Anonymous
I really wish there was a bestial, crucible or erdtree incantation that actually increased your strength massively by 10 or 20. It would probably increase damage less than this spell does but it would allow some interesting builds and niche uses...

I wish this buff lasted as long as golden vow but didn't stack with golden vow. Less reapplying buffs, less buff-stacking, more enjoying the benefits of one good buff for a fight.
- Anonymous
Anyone else think it's weird that buffs have such short duration? Why not have buffs take a chunk away from your maximum hp/fp/stamina, one or a combination of them depending on the buff in question? Now there's a real cost to buff-stacking. Applying a buff or two for a boss fight would feel good because you know it will last for the whole fight. Buffs would be used by more players based on synergy and cost/benefit for their build, making their use a more deliberate build choice. All told, it would expand the use of the various buff spells beyond the typical nukes, glass cannons, and people watching Fextralife guides.

Insanely good for obliterating any boss weak to fire. With this plus the flame physick buff you can destroy erdtree avatars in seconds by spamming catch flame, and it only gets stronger as you get the flock talismans and fire scorpion charm. Plus if you're a strength build you're already disposed to physical+fire, and the 15 fth requirement will also give you Flame Cleanse Me and a host of handy buffs along with the entire Beast incantation line.

So this is basically Power Within from DS 1 without the debuff

you know **** is about to go down when someone applies this. its the equivalent to taking your jacket off before a bar fight

Is there any int or some other equivalent boost without faith investment? I'm trying hard to make a meta character but started as a Bandit.
I feel like this incantation alone makes so many above average setups and builds teeter over the edge closer to top tier. (PvE) Like there is nothing that can compete with giantsflame or agheel's flame spam at NG+ because you can buff fire damage more than any other element. On even higher NG+ levels, you can just use black flame incantations instead for the HP% damage...it boosts arcane weapons which are already very strong, it boosts blasphemous blade, yet another top tier PvE weapon. It boosts physical damage of gravity sorceries, it boosts the damage of pure dex and pure strength builds. It's just a bit silly how many high damage setups this thing enables across the board with only a 15 faith req. For example, scroll back up and look at how many Fextralife build videos are embed on this page. All of them are using it. It's so pve meta-defining.

I came here to ask if 'flame grant me strength' works with the frenzy incantations damge and if it stacks with the "Frenzy Seal" damage (PvE)
- Anonymous
A little bit disappointed that it seemingly cannot be used alongside any pure phyiscal damage nullifiers such as Black Flame's Protection, or even crab meat. Either one of those things will nullify the effect of Flame grant me strength, and vice-versa if you use them before casting Flame grant me strength.
- Anonymous
quick question, when the description says it "enhances physical and fire affinity attack power" that does mean it boosts any melee attack with a sword, axe or whatever and bows, even if no fire grease has been put on the weapon and if no fire arrows are being shot from the bow, yes?

I don't do pvp so I'm only asking out of curiosity, does 'flame grant me strength' buff frenzy incantations? frenzy obviously has a fire component, you see this at caria manor when the finger creepers are hit with 'frenzied burst' or 'the flame of frenzy' incantations they flop about a bit, they sort of roll around as well, its the exact same effect that 'surge o flame' or 'flame sling' has on them. I'm killing the tree guardians at dragon barrow right now, I have faith boost, incantaion boost and fire scorpion talismans and the physik that boosts faith and fire attacks. I can kill all the tree guardians scattered about up the hill with one hit from frenzied burst before my physik runs out. But I've just been messing about with 'flame grant me strength' because I don't usually want it taking up a memory slot, my go-to buffs are always golden vow and dragonbolt blessing. I came here to ask if 'flame grant me strength' works with the frenzy incantations because I'm getting mixed results, on a single run up the hill I kill some enemies with one cast and some take two hits with a noticeable drop in damage on the first hit, some casts are hitting for over a thousand and others hitting for seven or eight hundred. I have no idea why this is happening and I'd appreciate it if someone who knows why this is happening would explain it to me.

As someone who uses blood flame blade a lot, I'd recommend just using physick buffs instead. flame shrouded tear + a knot tear provides pretty much the same benefit for a whopping three minutes instead of 30 seconds. This incantation is only really useful if you want to stack the two for pve.
- Anonymous
Mainly pve player, im psyched for my flock canvas, blood exult, fire scorp, RoB, and this build. Oh and giants talis for the fire magic.
Pop this and pop physick with fire and hidden, throw down some bloodfire or corpse piler, and let the party....ehem, slaughter, begin.

This may be the most overrated spell in the game. 30 seconds is an incredibly short duration of time, especially when you see people start to stack buffs along with this. 20% damage buff to both physical and fire damage may sound nice, and dropping to a 15% may also sound okay in pvp, but the issue is that nobody has to fight you during those 30 seconds. Timing out buffs is lame, most people can agree with that, but the way this spell is, it makes it extremely easy to accidentally time people out since it has such a short duration. In DS1, Power Within lasted 100 seconds, taking 100% of your health over that time period. If you made use of Lingering Dragoncrest Ring, it lasted 150 seconds, while still taking 100% of your health over that period. That is a negative that is extremely easy to offset, while still gaining a huge benefit. For those who don't know, Power Within gave you a 40% damage buff. 40% to EVERYTHING you did. This spell only affects physical and fire, where in DS1 any build could use this and increase their damage by 40%, as pyromancies had no stats directly related to them. I would honestly be okay with the damage numbers staying at what they were right now if we had a duration of DS1's Power Within, even with the penalty attached. In my opinion, a buff needs to be at least 45 seconds for me to consider using it, or a weapon has a buff baked into its moveset. Alternatively, I believe that Fire's Deadly Sin could turn into a stand in for Power Within, as that spell is currently worthless unless you are using it for glitches (which is incredibly scummy).

If I see someone apply this buff... I’m confident I’ve already won. 30 seconds?! Lol get real, the math means this is only a good idea if you’ve got something extremely high damage coming. Meanwhile the average duelist who applies this will play passive that entire 30 seconds. Makes me wonder in advance if they even leveled vigor. I bet this would be really good with one eye shield or with actual pyros who can reapply safely throughout a fight.

Power within but without the fun "accidentally kill yourself" part
- Anonymous
I wish they would double the duration at the cost of 2x the FP.

Wow this community really b*tches about everything don’t they. Exalted Flesh boost physical damage by 20% and isn’t reduced in PvP, has the same duration and it’s a consumable that doesn’t require stat investment that occupies the same body buff slot. Only reason you would run this over flesh is if you’re going for a faith fire damage build, you’re using RoB or Eleonora’s Poleblade and you already hit your dex/arc softcap, or you’re too lazy to farm items. The reason so many people run this on all of their builds is because they copied the latest *BrOkEn BuILd* clickbait video by people who also don’t know what they’re talking about and put this and golden vow on every build because they think think big AR = OP. To top it off, boiled crab or fireproof dried liver gives more negation than this does damage. Of all of the legitimately overpowered things in this game, people choose to complain about this.

Should be nerfed for PvP or should have higher faith requirement. This incantation is run in basically every build other than mages. Defensive talismans such as the dragoncrest greatshield talisman increases physical damage absorption by 20% in PvE, and 5% in PvP, losing 75% of its efficiency in PvP, while this goes down from 20% to 15%, losing only 25% efficiency.

Great buff, **** duration. Best used sparingly (for tanky enemies) if you're casting other spells often.

This **** doesn't last long enough. They should either make flame strike last 30 seconds, or make this last at minimum 45
- Anonymous
As of 1.04 it also increases stamina recovery speed, though I don’t see that in the patch notes.
- Anonymous
I hope they add element increasing spells in the future. As it is now fire is the strongest element simply because of this spell.

Sweer baby jesus, juat like good old Power Within but without the life drain. I love it
DOES NOT stack with 'Fire's Deadly Sin", they override each other

I'm considering it for arcane weapon which both have physical and fire damage, but 30 seconds, is the 15 faith dip worth it ?

So, I don't know if this is correct, but I did some testing using the base damage; Golden Vow; Flame, Grant Me Strength; and both spells together. The few tests I did were with Magma Shot (just the base hit), Roiling Magma (both the direct hit and explosion versions), and Black Flame. I also used the Sword of Night and Flame R2. When comparing to base damage, you get the normal numbers you can just look up on the wiki for the two buffs individually. The multiplicative stack number I came up with on all of these when compared to base damage was roughly a 38% increase (again, comparing base to having both buffs simultaneously).
Level 101 Confessor
40 Faith/35 Int (Due to Godrick's Great Rune)
Tested on the troll outside the Secluded Cell, all attacks charged for potency
Golden Order Seal +9, Gelmir Glintstone Staff +20, Sword of Night and Flame +9
Order: Spell/Ash, Base Damage, Golden Vow, Flame, Flame + Vow
Magma Shot, 669, 770, 803, 924
Roiling Magma (Direct Hit), 949, 1091, 1139, 1310
Roiling Magma (Explosion), 1139, 1310, 1367, 1572
Black Flame, 786, 906, 945, 1086
Sword of Night and Flame R2, 1535, 1765, 1842, 2118

What's that part in the trivia about a secret forge below stormveil and the age of omen ending? Trolling attempt? Can't find anything about this online.

My comment got deleted somehow so i'll repost what i've discovered while using this incantation.
Whenever i used this, i had an additional buff icon besides the "Sword up" and the "Spell up" i also had a "Turtle meat up" the same kind of icon that you get whenever you're using turtle shield, turtle talisman or simply eat turtle recovery energy meat.
Not sure if it's a bug or just because it has the same icon doesn't mean it's the same effect, but i just wanted to share what i saw.
- Anonymous
Something i discovered while just buffing around, whenever i used this, i had a turtle icon buff just like the one you get from using turtor shield or turtle talisman. I suppose not only it does increase dmg and fire affinity it also boost energy recovery speed?
- Anonymous
Apparently it gives energy restoration buff aswell, at least the icon that is related to energy boost shows up when using this incantation

It does stack with vyke's dragonbolt you have to do vyke first then flame.
I go from 518 to 630 to 734.
Bonus: it stops the red lighting but not on your weapon, once the flame are done only your weapon has an effect.

Just tested and confirmed this buffs pots that do fire damage, like Fire, Giantsflame, and Volcano

Man they really nerfed buffs in this game. 30 seconds? By the time you can move after casting the spell you're already down to 28 lol. 39 with a talisman? Wew lad please fromsoft.

Anyone know if the fire buff works on the flames from bloodflame blade?
- Anonymous
I might be mistaken, but this buff increases stamina recovery speed. Can anyone confirm this?

Not that i think this is really going to be used but does this buff rock sling spell?
- Anonymous
(Sorry for my english, that's not my first language)
I think something is weird with this buff since the last update: when i use FGMS and Golden Vow, the damage on the stat panel (with the right hand AR) goes higher after each buffs, so it seems to stack like it's supposed to. BUT, when i try it on a boss (Godfrey), Golden Vow seems to override FGMS (damage are exactly the same when i do GV only or both, and the order DOESN'T change anything). FGMS alone works normally.

Wish it wasn't so short, its so annoying to have to constantly recast this that I stopped using it
- Anonymous
Does this stack with LORD OF BLOOD'S EXULTATION?
That would be insane for rivers of blood
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I hate short length buffs, why do they do this, its such a pain to have to reapply this one. If only Old Lord's increased it to 90 seconds but no, only 9 extra seconds. This isnt fun gameplay to have to reapply 6x+ in a boss fight and feels more like a 1 shot mechanic setup for over leveled characters.

Does this buffs increase with more faith? I mean if I have faith 15 or faith 50, the buff will be the same amount of %?
- Anonymous
if you're a strenght build, arcane base weapon build (RoB,EPB,MSS) then i recommend investing 15 faith to get this, while for arcane base weapon they will get the best benefits from this as this add both their physical & fire damage, but strength build can also get the same type of benefits if they use bloodflame blade on their weapon or fire grease, more over str build can also do rallying standard which stack with this spell, the other benefits u get from investing 15 faith is cleanse spell which is amazing, beastial vitality for regen, and ofc all fortification spell, and for arcane u can get blood flies for offensive spell, or maybe flame sling and cacth flame (not recommended thou) as for strength build u can have beastial sling/cacth flame for suprise attack or rock of guranq/flame sling for viable ranged attack as for seal beastman for str & dragon communion for arc.

This + golden vow + black knife + eleonora pole arm = rest in peace Malenia. (Use tethe the black knife Ashe’s on the fight and the black knife dot can eternally exist on her).

Is not affected by neither Giant's Seal nor Frenzied Flame Seal. Same buff. I think the boosts apply to incantations that do damage.
- Anonymous
this used in conjunction with bloodflame on raptor talons will shred through people abusing shields like the fingerprint greatshield :) also shreds bosses that don't like bloodloss
- Anonymous
is there a certain order to cast so it can stack with other buffs?
- Anonymous
Think this got nerfed, hopefully yes, because 15% damage in PvP is waaaay too high, 10% is more reasonable.
