Elden Ring Giant Miranda Sprout Combat Information

ABSORPTIONS

  • Magic: 0 (The one at Temple Quarter has 40)
  • Fire: -40 (The one at Temple Quarter has 0)
  • Lightning: -40 (The one at Temple Quarter has 0)
  • Holy: 40

The absorption numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if an absorption is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% is absorbed. Bigger number = less damage. An absorption of 100 means no damage goes through, and a resistance of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

RESISTANCES

* The ones in Seethewater Cave, Stillwater Cave and Perfumer's Grotto are IMMUNE

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of whatever aux buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs.

Elden Ring Giant Miranda Sprout Notes & Tips

  • This enemy summons pillars of light in large AoE from the sky. Better fought at a distance to avoid clouds of toxic pollen.
  • They deal Strike Damage.
  • Magic Giant Mirandas release a myriad of homing magic projectiles that seek out enemies, similar to Star Shower, dealing Magic Damage.
  • Any fire damage dealt to the plant sets it aflame and negates the clouds: they get dissipated if present and the plant cannot release them for the duration of the burning animation.
    • Flame duration can't be reset, however burn can be applied again after it wears off.
    • Fire source does not set sprout aflame, if it breaks their poise.
  • They can slam their flower bud against the ground aside them if the player gets too close.
  • The Frenzied Giant Mirandas will violently flail themselves around in an attempt to put out the fire.
  • There are several variants, but in general their most prominent weaknesses are Slash-type Physical damage, Fire, and Frostbite. Keep in mind that fire damage will "cure" active frostbite (can be followed by more frostbite). They are suspectible to Sleep as well.
  • Strong against Strike damage, Lightning, and Holy.
  • They can be poise-broken, but the window to riposte is very slim, as they recover quickly.
  • Riposte after poise break is done to the bloom, unlike riposte to the sleeping flower which is done to the stalk.

choose a pair of fast weapons, apply fire grease to offhand > cast chilling mist with mainhand. simple bushwhacking method available to any build

      • Anonymous

Death's poker's weapon art with volcano pots melts these things extremely fast for the amount of hp they have, and them being set on fire (while not already being on fire) interrupts all of their attacks, not just their poison cloud spray.
And the rotten ones at the Haligtree have around 14000 hp

        • Anonymous

Underneath their petals, they look like Drosera Natalensis. those little red "pins" look just like a sundew's trap of sticky nectar on a stalk

          • Anonymous

One time I saw one of these big guys move around in a catacomb and it was the scariest thing in my life regarding this game. Pretty sure it was a bug since I've never seen that one move again

            • As someone who's made builds that have only up to certain parts unlocked (a level forty with only up to Stormveil unlocked), these dropping five basically anywhere they show up is fan-fudge-flippin'-tastic. Poison may not be the most damaging status, but ticks of damage are ticks of damage, and with 25 in a main offensive stat, I'm takin' every tick I can like my last name is tac.

The resistances are wrong, at least for the Waypoint Ruins Sprouts in 1.08. Tested with all physical damage types (first hit R1 only with gargoyle halberd, dragon halberd, grave scythe and great stars). Results:
                Standard: -30%
                Strike: -45%
                Pierce: -10%
                Slash: +25%

This thing should not have as much health as it does. If it was a tree, sure then I can understand. But it's a freakin' flower.

                  • I wish the pillars of light these giant flowers cast as a spell were available to the Tarnished to use in the form of an incantation—literally the only spell I want so far.

It looks like a new and improved ranged version of Divine Pillars of Light.

"The Frenzied Giant Miranda Sprouts will become crazed when set on fire, violently flailing themselves around in an attempt to put out the fire."

Doesn't that happen with pretty much all variants when set on fire? Why specifically mention the frenzied ones

                      • Anonymous

These are much more vulnerable to cold than fire. I used coldbone arrows on them in perfumer's grotto and I was seeing double the damage fire arrows were doing with the same bow, same talismans and same AoW.

                        • Anonymous

IMO these are the biggest waste of time to fight. Each one takes 10 minutes to kill and the reward is sub par. Even if you are shooting for a perfumer build, you can get the Miranda sprouts from their little cannon fodder plants. What they lack in difficulty they more than make up for in being an absolute annoyance.

                          • Anonymous

The large head will bonk you if you stay near it for too long. Don't spam R1 thinking that it's a braindead enemy, you will get bonked for massive damage.

                            • There's a fifth type of Miranda not listed above. It's the yellow ones found in Atlus. They inflict deadly poison instead of normal poison. The same type is the boss of Perfumer's grotto.

                              • White-light beam area attack appears to be holy damage. I tested in the Altus Plateau big lake.

                                197 - Damage taken
171 - Damage taken with Haligdrake Talisman

Fire causes the writhing animation, but you have to wait for animation to finish before they writhe with fire again, so just use fire as needed

                                  • Anonymous

WHAT ARE THEY WEAK TO? They seem to stagger and flail around if i use fire damage against them but fire damage doesn't damage them much more compared to strike. Perhaps slash damage is good because they are plants, or maybe frost because... They are plants.

                                    • Anonymous

Recently learned that the ones that spew madness pollen violently thrash around the first time (and ONLY the first time) that they get hit with fire. I was using a bow with fire arrows but it might be a bit of a nasty surprise for somebody using a fire-buffed melee weapon.

                                      • Has anyone else seen the movie Serenity? I just find it interesting that Miranda was the name of the planet that was poisoned with gas. 90% of the population died and the rest mutated and became consumed with rage...

                                        • This game appears to have a better and maybe even usable long range version of "Divine Pillars of Light" that actually tracks....and it's only usable by an enemy.
We can get the thunder goats rolling attack as an ash of war but not this?

                                          smh

FINALLY, a long-loved and awaited enemy makes it's return, from the series King's Field II on the Playstation. The area they appear is is reminiscent of the area in King's Field. I LOVE IT!

                                            • Anonymous

I really want that light/holy ability they use.. considerin they are using it, one would think its available somewhere in the game.. anyone?

                                              • What type of damage is the AoE?? Holy?? The bolts appear white. Wasn't sure if it's a type I'm not familiar with since I'm not on a magic run right now. Curious if anyone knows. Thanks.

                                                • Anonymous

If you hit it with fire, it fets stunned for a few seconds and will stop spewing poison or doing its lightning attack. I had an easy time popping it with a fire arrow, then dashing in for a combo, then rolling out to avoid the poison.
