Glintblade Phalanx is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Glintblade Phalanx spell creates a defensive arch of magic glintblades.

Please visit Ash of War: Glintblade Phalanx and Glintblade Phalanx for the Skill variant. Updated to Patch 1.07.

One of the sorceries of the Carian royal family.

Creates a defensive arch of magic glintblades overhead, which
automatically attack nearby foes.
This sorcery can be cast while in motion.

Bestowed upon the enchanted Carian knights, who combined this
art with their swordsmanship to maintain pressure upon their
foes, striking in waves of steel and sorcery.

Elden Ring Glintblade Phalanx Guide

  • Carian Sorcery
  • Stamina Cost: 12
  • Deals magic damage

    • Each individual gintblade deals (Sorcery Scaling x 0.60) magic damage.

    • Fires 5 gintblades for a total of (Sorcery Scaling x 3.00) magic damage.

  • Able to track invisible enemies as well, what makes Phalanx a good choice to track invisible Teardrop Scarabs.
  • Phalanx spells are a good way for mages to whittle down an enemy's stance.
  • This spell is generally outperformed by the Ash of War of the same name, but it can be useful in builds that use a weapon that can not be infused with Ashes of War
  • The blades will break upon coming into contact with any geometry, including enemies. This unfortunately means one cannot prep themselves with phalanx before passing through a boss fog gate, and must take care after casting to not accidentally break the blades on any surfaces to not waste any damage.
  • NOTE: Since Patch 1.07 FP Consumption has been Decreased from 20 to 18.

Just like glintblade pebble, you can follow this up with a heavy attack to do a forward thrust. Equipping this to a great sword and doing the follow up thrust does insane poise damage, like one or two is enough to break the poise of some of the toughest enemies, even dragons. I used this, exclusively, for an entire play through and it was a breeze.

Pretty weak and most of the blades don't hit.
Imo it would be better if there was a variant that by design fired one glintblade off at a time, instead of all of them.

this version is great early game for sneaky creeps that attack you before you can spot em like the invisible sorcerers by Iji's, or in catacombs for those annoying imps

            • Anonymous

I first found it less than 20 minutes ago and thought that being phalanx it would block 1 hit per dagger, it sadly did not

If you want to use this as a pure caster, you're better off by putting the Ash of War on a dagger rather than using the spell. The spell is absolutely worthless. Almost no stance damage at all (while the AoW has one of the highest stance damages in the game), the damage barely manages to outperform one (1) charged Magic Glintblade even if all blades connect and it costs 20 FP. Garbage.

You don't need to slot another Ash to get it out from Rogier's Rapier. You can remove Ash of War from non-unique weapons. The game UI is not that hard to understand right?

This is good for sorcerers but even better on a cleric. People will rush me and forget these exist. This can stun people right when elden stars blows up, frame trapping them. Same for triple rings of light. Third person game so the elden star will actually block their view while I cast these and triple rings of light. The gold stars, blue streaks and yellow halos are beautiful.

I'm not sorry about this in the slightest, but if you have this pre-cast before a duel I will always just rush you the second I spawn in.

Test it on the troll near warshack 18 casts and no stagger = troll dead.
Vs the Ashe of war version, 2 casts = stagger.

This version of the spell is garbage and costs much more fp

The balance in this game is madness ^^

Damn, vergil builds getting more and more closer to the real deal, I wonder if theres a spell resembling judgment cut

Is the posture damage similar to the ash of war version? I seem to have much more success staggering using that than this spell

For those complaining about the damage, this is a defensive utility spell that does amazing posture damage. Not everything is about big numbers.

This spell is great for exploring. If an enemy sneaks up on you, flies into you, etc. they will automatically hit them and oftentimes stagger.

Sucks they decided to completely destroy this spell and others, making magic users pointless and utterly useless past the first few enemies.

Have a feeling every magic user is going to respec to incantations to be viable past the intro.

Incredibly good for PvP. You don't cast this for the damage, it's for the hitstun, it forces your opponent to not be aggressive so they don't get combo'd. Be creative.

I don't understand when/why it fires the blades. Sometimes it lobs three against an enemy behind a wall 40 feet away, sometimes I'm swarmed by a horde and it launches a single blade at the last enemy as I'm already killing it.

                                      • Anonymous

Yes it has weak damage, but I used this spell against full close combat invaders and they were unable to touch me. When they closed the range, they were shot and stuned long enought for me to use a more powerfull spell. Once activated, it is literally a spell that hit a target without the need for you to move your staff, lock your ennemi or having him in front of you. By attacking automatically, it also detect enemies hidden in corner and bushes. This spell is so usefull.

Another casualty of the magic nerf-bat. It was a bit over-tuned in the network test, now it's near useless.

                                          • Anonymous

The damage is laughable, I guess they got the feedback from the network test that it was too OP and nerfed it into oblivion. In the test I took out Margit wikth it in under a minute, and now it does like 2% of his health. I don't think it's usable at all.

                                            • Anonymous

Bit bummed on the damage when I tried it, dropped it shortly after. Might be better paired with a melee weapon.
