Godefroy the Grafted Combat information

Negations (or Absorptions)

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Resistances

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

I never learned Godrick's moveset because he just... died on my second attempt, so this dude was a bit tougher. Still got him on my first try but fighting without a summon is annoying as hell.

They really went the DS2 route of copy-pasting enemies lmao. When I first entered this evergaol, I thought "is this a joke?".

Godrick was a fun boss though, so I didn't mind fighting him again.

If you go in with the bolt of gransax and a great shield you can cheese him by
blocking his projectiles with the sheild then switching to no shield and use the bolts Ash of war from a distance.

DLC prediction: Godrick, like many people in the lands between, were 'cloned' during the DLC because of a demigod and Godefroy is just one example.

This game is so big and full of stuff, that it seems strange to me that they would have any need to copy/paste anything.
Somewhat similar naming of different people is found often in elden ring.

What i´m wondering about ist if its somehow likely that dead people are coming back per something like reincarnation somehow. (Fia?)
But then the dead bodies of the same persons are raised from the death and it becomes a matter to separate these two versions of the (more or less) same individual from each other, which maybe could make such an only slightly altered name useful.

Return to life in either way, or both, could change the character of someone a lot, so that two very different versions of one buried "proto-guy" may have been the result.
                    (sry, my english sux)

I dont care there is a lore around his existence and all the duality. The game would be better without this boss, the Godrick fight would be remembered better without this boss. There's no way nobody fought like "man. making another boss, but less complex, out of one of our most significant ones might negativily impact reception of our more important boss". The game should be build around the lore, not the opposite making the lore to justify distustingly reused assets.

We need a third one in DLC named Godominick or something. The only lore is that he was captured by Wyvern Warrior Katherine

This guy is annoying AF. I'm well over 100, but he's got a cheap move that kills me every time. I weaken him at a distance and move in/out for melee. Unfortunately, he chases me, poised to slam his axe, until I run out of stamina or arena. It's happened multiple times.

After killing this deranged man with the Briar Armor set, I can confirm he indeed does have a second phase. His two-piece ground shockwave turns into a quick two followed by a large third strike. He also gains a jump attack.

This guy has a quarter of Maliketh's health more than Maliketh, and a third of Maliketh's poise more than Maliketh. Who tf was behind that design? #JusticeForMaliketh

i honestly hate this boss. this one in particular. not godrick, but this exact guy. not just because he's literally copypasted, but because he ruins the lore of godrick, really. instead of godrick being a delusional weak loser who grafts limbs onto him in pursuit of strength, hoping to match his great ancestor one day, he is simply a victim of being born in a family of dudes who really like sticking things on their body

Wow people really upset about this? Lol. Kind of wish they went all the way turned the gaols into more of a boss rush or time attack with the big story bosses. All people want anymore are bosses in these games. Goes to show if you give people what they want theyll just resent you for it.

with mohg being reused, its like a spirit clone so i get the idea of it belonging. but this guy is literally a different person but looks the exact same lol.

Why couldn't Godrick's brother be Hodrick (like from Dark Souls 3) or Rodrick (from Diary of a Wimpy Kid)? Missed potential for memes. ;(

I bet in the DLC we'll get Whoreah Loogie, Wooriur and he'll say "I've delivered you disrespect, not enough!"

Tho its 100% i enjoy elden ring, its quite clear all the attention and effort was placed in limgrave to give the player the impression of a huge inmense world full of interesting enemies, stories and environments, but as soon as you pass limgrave and liurnia you quickly realize this game reuses a LOT of assets, incluiding enemies... environment becomes less and less wonderful.

I'm ok with 58 Ulcerated Tree Spirits, but 2 Mohgs and 2 Godricks?! It's just beyond lazy and dumb to make copy/paste of main bosses. The game wouldn't lost a damn thing if there was 2 cloned bosses less.

                                                • Anonymous

I don't mind Godefroy's inclusion all that much (it was fun to have a short rematch), but a head + weapon model replacement probably would've made this encounter feel much better.

eh only needed 2 attempts to beat him. I mean I beat Godrick so after that I knew exactly how to put him down.

Imagine if we fight Morgott phase one as himself (no "disguise") in Stormveil and full power Morgott in the capital, just to find an evergoal with his ancestor, Margit the Fell Omen that's the exact copy of Morgott's with only his first phase moveset. I never even knew this character existed, and I do understand why he existing pisses off some people.
This does indeed feel like a joke and kinda damages the overall seriousness of how Miyazaki's lore is usually handled, but I feel like other joke characters exist in previous Souls games, and this isnt exactly new.
Regardless, there is still DLC content to come, so personally I will just wait and hope that maybe new details about Elden Ring lore might explain this Godefroy character better. He could very well just be an actual clone created by some powerful character we havent met yet.

Godrick isn't supposed to be special. He's just some schmuck who happens to be head of the (at this point in time) pitiful Golden Lineage. That's why it's fitting that he wasn't even the one who came up with the idea of grafting in the first place.

                                                            • Anonymous

Vyke also has his own Gaol version and I don't see people complaining that much. The Gaols's prisoners have different approaches, so I wouldn't be surprised if this were a representation of someone who attempted - and failed at - what Godrick suceeded, or even a representation of someone else's inner self, which ended being as repulsive as Godrick.

                                                              • Anonymous

Currently playing the game and this boss has just robbed me of my love for Godrick's character and story design. A key boss should feel unique, especially in a game where the lore is such a point of interest in the community. I guess this is telling me that not only was Godrick a weak fool, but also a member of many other distant relatives to Godfrey who all perform grafting as a mean to gain power. This is interesting, but damn did they really have to use the same exact character model?

                                                                • Anonymous

Godrick is supposed to be a legendary, unique boss.
This is just bad game design.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Other repeat bosses like Godskins, Erdtree Avatars, Burial Watchdogs, Deathbirds, etc. are all sufficiently inhuman that they can be reused without breaking immersion. Even the Crucible Knights are different from each other in various ways and have lore behind them.

But ****ing Godefroy is literally the exact same model as Godrick. The exact same. He is a clone and his existence is virtually impossible to reconcile with the lore.

Considering they are the same model, does this mean Godrick had a twin? Does that make Godefroy a demi-god? Does he have great rune? No. He's not given anything more than a passing mention about being imprisoned. That's it. If they had just made the character model just a little bit unique, I would be ok. Change his hair, give him a different crown, give him a beard, whatever. Just do something that makes this boss make sense.

Godefroy was Godrick twin brothers the latest heirs to the Golden Lineage. However, being twins, only one of them could inherit the throne. The twins were night and day. Godrick was a jealous and spiteful man lustful for power but, his brother Godefroy was his opposite. Godefroy was a kind caring man who rather than wanting to rule through fear, wished to respect the wishes of his people earning him popularity over his selfish brother. And so when it as decided Godefroy would inherit the throne Godrick was ignited with rage and hate for his brother. The night before Godefroy would be crowned, Godrick stormed into his room and SLICED HIS LEG OFF WITH AN AXE. Godefroy incapacitated by the predicament, had his body disposed of by Godrick. That same night, Godrick took his brother's leg and grafted it to himself. It was the first limb he had ever grafted. Due to Godefroy's disappearance Godrick was crowned instead but Godefroy was not dead. In fact, far from it. He had crawled his way across Limgrave, where his body had been disposed, and crafted himself a peg leg. At first Godefroy attempted to be kind just as he always had. But Limgrave would soon teach him such naiveties would be punished. The trolls could not be reasoned with, Rick, Soldier of God, Cheiftain of Limgrave, Destroyer of Worlds wouldn't listen to his words, the tarnished would attack him endlessly and the Dark Spirits would spam corpse piler at him. The unforgiving world had toughened him, made him go cold, limp less and selfish. If no one would listen to him he'd make them listen. He killed. Grafting every body part he could find in an attempt to gain power. He destroyed campsites gaining reputation, slowly morphing into an abomination. Godefroy once took pride in his selflessness which differentiated him from his brother but slowly he turned into a mirror of his brother. Selfish, lustful and spiteful. He had even stolen Radagon's Arm and grafted it to himself at one point. And eventually the Shattering took place, a war from which no lord arose. During this holocaust, Godefroy attempted to take revenge against his brother. The siblings, equally grafted and monstrous fought valiantly. Eventually however, some idiot dragon knight cosplayer or whatever accidentally flung his sword into Godefroy's back impaling him long enough for Godrick to emerge victorious. And so The knight imprisoned Godefroy where he remained for the rest of eternity.

It's just a random Evergaol boss fight - I don't think there's a need to take it too seriously, I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously, and I honestly think the devs meant this as a kind of joke boss. A joke that I, at least, find funny.
