Godskin Swaddling Cloth is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Godskin Swaddling Cloth causes successive attacks to restore HP. Players can use talismans in Elden Ring to boost a variety of Stats.
Sacred cloth of the Godskin Apostles, made from supple skin sewn together.
Successive attacks restore HP.
The Gloam-Eyed Queen cradles newborn apostles swaddled in this cloth. Soon they will grow to become the death of the gods.
Godskin Swaddling Cloth Effect in Elden Ring
Godskin Swaddling Cloth causes successive attacks to restore HP.
- Works only for consecutive melee-type attacks.
- Some very specific melee-like spells, like Carian Slicer, can trigger the talisman's effect. However, they require a more significant amount of hits to trigger the effect.
- Heal is 3% plus a flat 30. At 1450 maximum HP (40 Vigor), it heals for 73 HP (43 + 30). At 1900 maximum HP (60 Vigor), it heals 87 HP (57 + 30).
- Proc buildup depends on various factors, such as; weapon type, type of attack, and Ashes of War (melee-type only). Damage dealt does not affect progress. Two-handing a weapon doesn't influence a proc's buildup, unless the alternate moveset changes the amount of hits per attack.
- If using light attacks:
- Fists / Claws / Daggers / Torches / Sacred Seals / Small Shields take 7 hits to activate the talisman.
- All other weapons not listed above will activate the talisman's effect in 5 hits.
- Notes to consider:
- Lightning Ram proved to reduce the hit count on a Caestus from 7 hits to 4. There was no difference on varying upgrade levels.
- Charge Forth Ash of War in Golem's Halberd, despite having multiple hits during the charge, does not trigger the talisman. This seemed consistent to the same Ash of War applied to other weapons.
- Notes to consider:
- Heavy attacks behave differently:
- Charged attacks make the talisman's effect trigger on the third hit, but any other variations of heavy attacks (such as jumping, standing, or crouching) need 4 hits to trigger the effect.
- This makes weapons with multiple hits on heavy attack (such as Twinblades' two-handed charged attack) a more favorable option when using this talisman.
- The player does not need to hit the same target for the effect to trigger, but all targets that have been hit are counted towards the total hits needed for triggering the effect.
- Based on extensive in-game testing, there's a possibility that the talisman has a meter that fills up varying amounts. These amounts depend on the type of hit, in relation to weapon type.
- If the user stops attacking, said meter would slowly regress back to 0 over time.

- when using the ash of war for Ghiza's wheel the effect doesn't work

Mid as far as being a “splashable” talisman but potentially very good if you design your build around it.

Underrated talisman. Best paired with multi hit weapons(obviously). Whenever I use this for my gloam eyed Queen build the unique two handed running R1 on the Godskin peeler makes it proc every time and sometimes enemies don’t completely die so it’s possible to get 6% of health back from one enemy. But I feel like it just works very well in black flame build. I equip dragoncrest great shield, cast black flame protection, cast blessing of the erdtree and have this equipped to help make up for the heal debuff. And I m basically eating physical damage and my flasks aren’t completely useless from the health debuff.

Zero clue why this doesn't work with spells like Crystal Barrage/Crystal Torrent, but all the other consecutive-hits talismans and also the crystal tear does work. So stupid.

- Anonymous
Definitely needs to heal for each hit once you've hit enough times but for less than the first heal or it is just outclassed by all other healing talismans
- Anonymous
I’ve recently come to love this talisman and I swear it’s underrated as hell. It’s basically bloodborne’s rally mechanic but heals you infinitely without needing to be hit to trigger it. I don’t understand how anyone could call this useless

The running attack of dual-wielded Great Spears hits like 10 times. How does the Godskin Swaddling Cloth work with those hits? Is the healing as crazy as I hope it is?
- Anonymous
Does this interact favorably with Ornamental Straight Swords' special charged heavy?
- Anonymous
waterfowl dance plus this equals "I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella" just good luck landing it.

Does this work with aspect of crucible horn and tail incantation? Given both Millicent's prothesis and rotten winged insignia worked with these incantations.

This heals on jumping attacks from twinblades and curved swords. I haven’t tested it yet but I’m pretty sure with this a blood tax will heal all the damage you’d take from seppuku (at least at 40 vigor, not sure how it would compare to 60 or 99 vigor) so it has a lot of potential on an arcane build, especially if you using bloody slash and blood blades

i have decided to try this on the funny drill sword (eochaids dancing blade) since i scrolled for 10 seconds and didnt see anything about it.

This works with both Dragon Claw and Gavel of Haima. Two hits guarantee health return. Gavel is probably better for this since it does less damage while keeping the stagger both spells have.
- Anonymous
I don't think it's intended, but this works with Dragon Claw.
- Anonymous
i'm not sure if this is well known or not, but this talisman can be triggered by Dragonclaw. I haven't tested with anything else yet, but I assume that any spell that deals physical damage is capable of triggering Godskin Swaddling Cloth.

I wonder if this talisman will work on Great Stars with Prelate's Charge? That would be a mean build.

step 1: get ghiza wheel. step 2: get swaddling cloth. step 3: spam 1-handed heavy attack. step 4: profit

I have confirmed this works with Starcaller Cry on Starscourge Greatswords, with both the initial gravity pull and the follow up smash

I remember killing that Snail months ago and this never dropped.

LOL, you can proc this by attacking the mounted ballistas.

serpent bone blade, this, winged sword insignia, kindreds of rot exultation. Everything will proc after one heavy (minus kindreds). Same goes for the ash of war. After a little into the fight you’re looking at a 40% damage buff along with health regen per hit. You could literally stack poise and just keep swinging and nothing could stop you

never noticed it’s usefulness with my consecutive hits rob build.. with 45 vigor
- Anonymous
Can this stack with Taker's Flames from the Blasphemous Blade?

Works really well depending on what kind of weapon you're using. Unfortunately it barely compensates for slower weapons, but works really well for multi-hit attacks and dual wielding. Jump attacks with dual twinblades heals you 5% every time if all the hits connect. On average it heals every 5-6 hits.

not useless, but a bit of a pain to make a good build for. works well with the ghiza wheel's unique heavy attacks

Kinda underwhelming without modelling your build around it.

It's really hard to say for certain, but if you have to choose between them like I did with one build, I think the 20% reduction to physical damage taken from the dragon greatshield talisman is better than this healing because preventing that damage is more reliable than having to get the HP back after taking a hit. Yes the timer is generous, but how much you get back is partly based on your total HP, so it's not good if you have low vigor and will only be so effective once your build is complete. Meanwhile, the DGS talisman is more effective the bigger the hit, so it gets better as you go and enemies get stronger in the final areas and into NG+. Additionally, the encouragement to be aggressive in order to recover lost HP tends to make me reckless, leading to damaging errors in judgement instead of patiently choosing good moments to go on the offensive.

Hits from starscourge GS (one from radahn) count normally despite hitting double. This allows you to heal every second attack. Pretty sweet.
- Anonymous
works really well on a duel wield greatstars build with wild strikes, you heal so much hp from the jump attacks as well
- Anonymous
Really hard to say whether this is better or worse than the DS3 iteration of this talisman. In DS3 it only healed 30 hp, with no percentage based bonus like this game, making it in the short term very difficult to use. But there was a bug, well I think it was a bug at least, which allowed you to gain all of your health back after many successive hits, usually to a group of enemies. Assuming it was a bug, it was a fun one that didn't hinder gameplay, rather rewarded risky play which was fun. Now in Elden Ring we don't have the huge rally potential of getting all of our health back, but that 3% bonus really is nice. With the bonus, it elevates this talisman to being viable throughout all points in the game. Obviously you get it pretty lategame, but if you were to savescum it onto a new character, it would be viable throughout the playthrough.

The gauge decay rate is quite generous. It seem to always heal me at the 5th hit when I was fighting a boss using iron greatsword, rare were the occasions when it took 6th hit to heal. Also note that spears are not listed above which means they also heal at 5th hit, sounds quite good with a shield poke build.

Does this work with DoT? I just thought of black flame DoT because of Godskin
Kind of disappointing reward for such a late game (and very cool) dungeon.
- Anonymous
I would use this all the time with powerstance great stars so I get 2% HP every single attack and then even more once this procs which was about ever 2 attacks
The heal is very minimal compared to the damage-buff-on-multi-hit talismans. It takes significantly more effort to trigger it and doesn't heal much when it does trigger so even on the Marais drill build it's not very good.
- Anonymous
It specifically says that charged attacks trigger the talismans effect on the third hit but I don't see that as being even remotely possible, except on greyoll as it doesn't move. I have no idea how many playing elden ring have this talisman, but I'd bet good money no one has come across an enemy or boss who just stands there while someone hits it with three charged hits.
Pity it doesn't work for spells too. I'd equip it if it did but otherwise it's useless to me.

Great Heavens that looks horrendous like a genuine crime against humanity

the healing proc with 4 attacks from curved swords. jump attack and running attack while powerstancing curved swords proc it.

Note that hitting a very recently dead enemy still adds to the count. Very similar to Malenia healing off dead summons/players.
Dual wielding dagger gives insane proc for this talisman, sadly the number is not exactly high so swap accordingly with Assasin's Crimson Dagger

I wonder how much you can heal with Great Stars + Godskin Cloth + Prelate's Charge.
I know that Great Stars' passive effect works with Prelate's Charge, but I haven't tried it with Godskin Cloth.
- Anonymous
The blackflame's tics damage are use full to activate this talisman?
- Anonymous
Good for coop and if you're using dual wielding a fast weapon (curved sword/twinblades).
Even the little HP it gives you is better than using the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman.
- Anonymous
This with Milliscent prosthesis and Rotten Wing Sword Insignia using Waterfowl Dance gives you a proper Malenia build since it heals you with the constant attacks
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I think Assassin's Crimson Dagger will be better for most melee builds. Most normal enemies die in 4 hits or less, even with an upgraded twinblade. It would take 7-8 hits to match the healing of a single critical strike
- Anonymous
Little late to the party, but this and any twinblade seems to work very well. Since each R1 hits multiple times, you can easily proc the effect. Using the Godskin Peeler, I'm able to proc it on the second hit of the second R1, making it a pretty easy heal.
- Anonymous
This honestly isn't that good unless you're fighting against multiple enemies.
- Anonymous
This doesn't seem to work with Eochaid's dancing blade weapon art.
- Anonymous
So if you hit an enemy you get healed? Or if you hit an enemy a certain number of times you get healed? Which is it?
- Anonymous
This + great stars + prelate charge or prayerfull strike and you and your mimic homie never die
- Anonymous
I beat Malenia with this thing and dual curved swords. Sweet irony.

Hitting turrets like ballistas will also heal you. You can switch to your fists and just wail on em for easy hp.
This is what Melania's Rune should've done, but on 1 hit. Instead we have whatever the hell that rune does.
- Anonymous
Responding to the fellow below me – Godskin Swaddling Cloth DOES synergize with Eochaid's Dancing Blade. When paired with Taker's Cameo, this can result in 2-3 procs of HP return on a single use of the weapon art if it hits enough times and kills the enemy.
Gotta test viability on stronger bosses in this current playthrough but so far this is an unexpectedly beautiful synergy!
- Anonymous
Throw this on mimic tear with Wild Swings and watch it just never ****ing die.
- Anonymous
Need to test this with Eochaid Weapon Arts. Since its weapon art hits like 10 times in one use, this might be a good pair with thorn magic, at least to clear out NPCs around until you meet the boss and get destroyed.

Broken with the Mimic tear, at summon level 10 that 3% max health goes a long way.
- Anonymous
This pairs well with the Godskins signature peeler, which is one of the quickest attacking weapon in the game
Oh I didn't even notice but yeah, the size of those hands, that's definitely a baby's skin huh.
- Anonymous
if you trigger this thing twice in a short window, the second heal comes a few seconds after. im guessing this is to avoid the ds3 full heal glitch
- Anonymous
Incredibly good with certain powerstanced weapons. Powerstanced curved swords' jump attack comes out very fast and hits 4 times which is enough to instantly proc a heal from this.
- Anonymous
Insanely good for builds revolving around high vitality and seppuku. Health loss for a damage boost, then use a dual set of weapons and go to town, regening hp as you cut each person down. But something like Beast Vitality on in addition and there's a very slim chance of you dying outside of boss fights.

Works incredibly well with takers cameo + dual twinblades, as you only need one jumping attack to get the healing. This setup works best in catacombs and dungeons where there are lots of weaker enemies. The heal won't be all that noticable against endgame bosses so it's best to swap to another talisman e.g. millicent's prosthesis/rotten winged sword insignia

After noticing that the Man Serpents stretch and move in the same way as the Godskin apostles i started looking at stuff like this to try and find a connection. the serpent spirit ash says they where born LONG AGO, and this says Dusk/Gloam cradled newborn apostles.

Works pretty nicely with the Godslayer Greatsword, which has a relatively fast moveset but only requires 3 hits to proc the effect

This talisman works extremely well with dual twinblades. If you connect all the hits on the jump attack it heals you every time.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
does this proc when hitting a spell that has a swarm of repeated hits e.g. comet azur or bubble shower?
- Anonymous
The skill on Marai's Executioner Sword seems to proc this pretty often

This has been working amazing for me with Elenora's Twinblade, TBs in general should be strong with the talisman. It triggers a lot since you're attacks are so fast. Good for keeping HP topped up to combo with the Ritual Shield/Sword talismans
