Godslayer's Greatsword is a Colossal Sword in Elden Ring. The Godslayer's Greatsword scales primarily with Dexterity and Faith, with mediocre scaling in Strength, and is a good Weapon for inflicting fire-based damage.
Sacred sword of the Gloam-Eyed Queen who controlled the
Godskin Apostles before her defeat at the hands of Maliketh.
The black flames wielded by the apostles are channeled from this
sword.

Buff the damage of base attacks and speed of the skill ffs! I do more dmg with a fckn flame claymore than this, and I can go make a sandwich, eat it, take a ****, go to the gym, take a nap, wake up and skill is almost started...nah it got interrupted by a dragonfly. This game is full of sh.t like this

Downvote all you want, this thing looks dumb as hell. I dislike the ruins greatsword for the same reason. this thing does not have a blade, its not slicing ****.

Everything about this swords’ lore yells out LEGENDARY, and yet, here we are, scuffed weapon that is somehow less famous than the Grafted sword.

1. Switch to an offhand weapon with endure
2. Trigger endure
3. Switch back to Godslayer Greatsword
4. Use the ash of war
5. Hyperarmor achieved :)

onyx blade got divorced and this one got the FTH scaling and helphen's steeple got the INT scaling

Imagine how cool this weapon would be if it had a similar AOW to wolf assault like the RGS but the explosion was black flame.
- Anonymous
If the DLC patch gives this AOW skill hyperarmor, Godslayer's greatsword would be No1
- Anonymous
My favorite weapon in this game. Great design, very powerful Weapon Skill, fast moveset. The Weapon Skill is slow and currently doesn't have hyper armor, but with right timing and positioning it just demolishes everything on its way.
- Anonymous
Vargram wielding this and his armor set having the description of him wanting to become a shadow like Maliketh HEAVILY implies the Gloam-Eyed Queen being an Empyrean. Perhaps she was Marika's twin sister that was able to see the flaws in the Greater Will and thus rebelled against the Erdtree, and that's why she was challenged and defeated.
Wonder if we'll find out more in the DLC from more item descriptions, or even from Messmer himself.

Why didn't the AoW scale with Faith?!?!?!?! What was Miyazaki smoking.
- Anonymous
the hardest part of beating the game with this weapon is getting it. after that it's a really nice walk.

Everyone in the comments are completely trippin. Gorgeous sword, best moveset of a sword in the game, and awesome skill (albeit very slow).
- Anonymous
you all may dismiss this weapon now, but once the dlc comes and with it another patch, best believe my wife WILL return

When you pick up the god slayer great sword it says its a legendary item, but it doesn't contribute to the legendary items achievements, weird.

Maximum poise is basically a requirement now if you ever hope to actually get consistent use out of the weapon art
- Anonymous
You know, I was just thinking, the Sacred Relic Sword's design is meant to resemble how Marika & Radagon are two beings sharing a single body.
There is obviously a similar but reversed effect here in the Godlslayer's Greatsword.
It makes me wonder if the Gloam-Eyed Queen and someone else (such as Melina or another for example) were at one point two separate beings who shared one body.

Currently competing against myself, speedrunning how fast I can obtain this weapon on a new character. I’ve done the same for the Mohg spear as well. Fighting endgame bosses on a new character w/ 40 vigor is fun!
- Anonymous
They ruined it with 1.10. It basically has no skill, it has 1 move less than any other weapon in the game. You will never ever land it against anything that has a will to attack you.

- Anonymous
weird that i'm seeing people memory-holing the "nerf" it was never a nerf, never mentioned in the patch notes, they just moved a decimal somewhere on accident and broke the weapon. same thing happened to godrick's axe in the same patch. more than likely it'll be fixed with the dlc patch
- Anonymous
PLEASE add another ultra greatsword with this things moveset
- Anonymous
The ash of war is useless after being nerfed. There's no point in using it when you can be so easily staggered out of it. It's a damn shame, this was my wife.
- Anonymous
this weapons ash is so hard to use... you get stagered ouut of it by fist light attacks????? and people say its balanced
- Anonymous
I'm baffled by people complaining about the lack of hyper armor on the weapon art.
Ever heard about balancing? No weapon should have what is basically an instant win button.
- Anonymous
I’m guess dual wielding these works as normal for colossal swords? Or is the dual move set sped up too?
- Anonymous
This sword indeed benefits more of a quality split than Dex/Fth but difference is not that big. Here are some numbers as Str/Dex/Fth split - Total dmg (phys+fire):
60/60/22 = 880 633+246 (some rounding shenanigans)
22/60/60 = 865 561+304
60/22/60 = 807 503+304
So Dex/Fth does lose to quality split and in this case just decide if you want pure dmg from this sword with limited access to incantations or trade bit of power to gain access to basically all incantations and improve its weapon skill.

This is radagon's Storm Ruler for those of you who played Dark Souls 3. It melts him, 10/10 BONK

Pros:
- Fast R1's
- Sexy as F*CK
- Black flame DoT
- Get laid
Cons:
- Not a legendary armament (should be)
- Does Standard damage not Strike damage (wtf?)
- Your kid will start kindergarten and then finish their PhD thesis before the weapon art comes out (yes, REALLY)
- Not forklift certified (I'm autistic)

FFS it's so infuriating how cool weapons like this get no love. I can NEVER get a skill off cuz of that stupid first tap and no range. Sad because it's stuck with the normal moveset and that's it. Still my fav and hope myazaki ,instead of making more swamps, will rework the skill in the DLC
- Anonymous
This needs its hyperarmor back, my favourite colossal sword, but this skill screws it up
- Anonymous
> Scales most with Dex/Faith
> Look inside
> Performs best on quality
- Anonymous
Something very unique about this weapon is its sheer stamina efficiency. Standing R1s for this colossal consume about as much stamina as a regular greatsword like the Claymore. On top of that, since it has weirdly high PvE stance damage, even compared to the Guts Greatsword, you've potentially got yourself a stance-breaking monster of a weapon on your hands. Compared to other colossals, relatively, you've ALWAYS got the stamina to dodgeroll or swing, letting you keep up the stance damage so that you can get your Mortal Draw off.
Unfortunately, you have to build for Quality to use it to full damage potential, leaning towards Dex, and also investing into a chunk of Faith, too. Still, if you like chunking healthbars and constantly *****slapping gods until they kneel before you, this oughta be the sword for you.
- Anonymous
Some people say the reason this is not legendary is that an npc uses it, but how do those people explain the lore of pairing legendaries in ng+
- Anonymous
Unfortunately I only used this weapon after From got rid of the hyperarmor on the weapon skill. Now I'd say the weapon skill is pretty much garbage (like a lot of the weapon skills in this game). It only works if you can sneak up on your target and use it, and even then its questionable because it does this weird tap first (that warns the target).
I've died so many times using this weapon skill, it's yet another animation that makes you a target.
- Anonymous
despite having a C (0.72) in faith and a D (0.56) in strength, this weapon performs better on a quality build than it does on a dex-fth build
- Anonymous
In most builds, this ends up being my endgame weapon -- if only for the lore implications. Even if the game doesn't directly acknowledge it, it fulfills Hewg's mission of outfitting you with a god-felling weapon. Oh, and I guess it fulfills Marika's mission as well, which is fine. Either way, from a lore standpoint, the Black Flame & Destined Death have a nice sense of finality to them.

It really needs hyperarmor on the weapon skill back. It's stupid a throwing knife interrupts a colossal sword. I think FS simply forgot about it, not surprising really. They forget a lot of things, just like loretta's armor that has more ppise altered than with cape.
Am I crazy…I can’t get this thing to gain anything in Dex…I was going to respec to have more Dex, but atleast the first few levels past 22 don’t improve the attack power at all atleast according to the stat screen when respecing
- Anonymous
Does anyone know why it doesn't have the same hit stun like the other collosal swords? Is it because it's scales off of dex instead of strength? Or is it because of it's weight? If it's the latter reason, that wouldn't make much sense since the Zweihänder is lighter than the GSG and it's AR is less than it as well as far as I can tell.

Fun fact: you have just enough time to complete your taxes before the weapon art actually comes out.
I really wish the AoW was quicker. Yes, it does a ton of damage if you get both swings in, but it's nearly impossible as most large enemies/bosses have moved out of the way or hit you before you can....still, I adore this weapon, it was a great investment for my Str/Dex/Faith build!

It would be my favorite weapon if I could actually land the ash of war more than once in a full moon. Like 3 seconds before hitting and no hyperarmor...
- Anonymous
Is the poise thing on the AoW only affected in pvp, or did they break it in pve too?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Man my godslayer build is ruined after the patch, AOW couldn’t poise through a wet fart. From please fix in next patch
They done took away my hyper armor. The AoW was hard to land before but now it’s just imposisble. Great job as always, From
- Anonymous
Saw a vilhelm cosplayer who had this in pvp and beated him with a two handed shield

patch nerf aside, how is **** like the rectangle elmo sword or the snake hammer nobody uses considered legendary but this isn't?
- Anonymous
Beware, the 1.10 patch made it so that the Ash of War has no poise (since it doesn't have hyper armor) making it one of the slowest attacks without hyper armor (in other words one of the hardest attacks to land). It doesn't matter how much armor poise you stack since now passive poise doesn't exist, they need to change this Ash of war's hyper armor ASAP.
- Anonymous
You used to be able to hyperarmor through ultra greatswords and colossal weapons with the ash of war and now as of 1.10 you get hit out of it by anything bigger than a pencil
- Anonymous
Love the sword the ash of war is fine but not for all situations but great for killin bigg bosses.
- Anonymous
Patch 1.10 seemed to nerf this weapons ash of war into the ground I can't activate it without getting interrupted against Many weapon types and with different timings as well if someone with more knowledge can confirm it would be appreciated.

So just to ask, does the AoW scale better with 80 Dex or 80 Faith. I know bot is ideal but I’m just building up to it
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
As the name implies, this is really good against the main bosses, specially if its one that doesn't move all over the arena. I was struggling really hard against Mohg but this thing basically canceled his nihil. The WA first attack is weak and will trigger aggro on you, so you may want to intentionally miss with it, the other two are the real damage dealers so you need to be well positioned to use it, a tanky summon like dung eater helps.

As of current patch this swords has several unique (and not) to it true combos: (both one handed and two handed) crouch attack into manualy aimed down regular attack, one handed crouch attack into offhand knife or catch flame, one handed regular running attack if hit at the end (left side) into offhand knife or manualy aimed down and slightly to the right regular attack (the second version can also work off regular running attack, buy depends on distance), crouch attack into manualy aimed down and slightly right first hit of L2 and delayed light jump attack into manualy aimed down and slightly right regular attack. Additionally to that fully charged black flame explosion into regular attack. Have fun with more fluid true combos both in pvp and in pve (in case of pve pure sword combos might see better use). Credit to WaZeus, Frosty and Gigasthiccas, who's true combo videos can be found on YouTube.

Why does this weapon have better Dex scaling than Str scaling
- Anonymous
Wish the weapon skill came out even just a little bit faster - you either have to roll out of it to avoid damage or face-tank until you can pull it off with no guarantee of it connecting.

oddly works better as a quality weapon than a dex/fth one despite the lower scaling which makes me think, does fire damage scale off both faith and strength?

Super Oleg in Castle Sol gets staggered by the initial swing of the L2. Bait him into teleporting, and as soon as he shows up press L2 to start Queen's Black Flame and cancel his fire breath. The first real Black Flame swing then staggers him again, so you can immediately follow up with the 2nd. My stats are nowhere near optimized with 55 FTH and just 30-ish DEX, with FGMS on, just one use of the full L2 combo does 3300+ damage, killing him outright. Very helpful while farming his armor lol

The sword the gloam eyed queen Melina would want you to use to slay the Elden beast. Why not, she gave you a spirit steed?

While the ash of war is awesome and it seems weird that it's dex weapon at least it gives dex something unique. Especially with everyone confusing arcane builds with dex builds.
Bit ironic most unique dex things make you tank through attacks and go into trades. (lightning slash, thundercloud form, queen's black flame, lightning slash)
The weapon and weapon art 10/10, felt more like strength/faith weapon but still a perfect weapon

Me: ONE BRINGS SHADOW, ONE BRINGS LIGHT! TWO TONED ECHOES, TUMBLING THROUGH TIME [...]
On a serious note, just enjoy your favorite weapon. I was already a guy that kept min-maxing stuff, but in the long run, its just a way to kill the game's fun imho. Have a good day fellow tarnished.

Fun fact the fire damage visual effect from this sword is unique. The normal r1 and r2 attacks will leave black flame instead of the red flame that even the black flame tornado aow does. It doesn't have any actual effect just a visual but I thought it was cool
