Golden Beast Crest Shield is a Greatshield in Elden Ring. The Golden Beast Crest Shield is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength. Greatshields weigh a decent amount and provide the best protection in the game. Greatshields provide a greater value of blocking and protecting one's self from enemy and boss attacks, but greatly increases the weight and reduces the player's mobility. This type of shield works best at reducing damage or guarding instead of parrying.

 

Shield of dull gold with a beast engraved as its crest. Lighter than
most greatshields, and subsequently easier to wield.

The beast depicted is Serosh, aged counselor who guides the

      Goes nicely with the Noble's Slender Sword for a Noble Knight build. Low weight, too, so you don't have to invest as heavily into endurance. Lots of fun.

        Light, no Ashe of War so can use L2 weapon skill, look, average boost and 100% physical mitigation.
        It's a good shield.

            I love the look and thickness of this shield (plus bonus points for golden Serosh iconography) but I find it a bit disappointing that something that protects the player model basically head to foot when held in front of them has less overall stability and elemental defenses than the Manor shield which isn't anywhere as thick or tall. Would have reversed their respective drop locations and stats personally as it makes more sense to me based off appearances alone.

              Best greatshield as it's the only 100% greatshield I can use without heavy rolling. Its 3.5 lighter than the rest.

                Great shields bounces normal attacks from knights/Omans who uses great weapon types. So it ends up costing less stamina since you are not blocking entire 3-4 hit combo. However for bosses who may use colossal type weapons brass shield may do better since this great shield will not bounce the attacks and it has lower guard boost.

                  Just because an item can be gained at the start of the game doesn't mean it has to be bad. This is one of those items.

                  Aesthestically it's my favourite shield and was my chosen shield in my 3rd playthrough after fighting this boss for probably an hour or more. But after seeing it's worse than all other shields I changed.

                  Lets analyze the problems.

                  Firstly, it has the worst damage out of all 100 % blocking great shields which is the only possible feature you could think would be great with it.

                  Secondly, It has one of the worst stabilities besides Jellyfish Shield. Unless we count shields that cannot block 100 %.

                  Third, no unique ash of war or bonus to anything unlike Eclipse Crest Greatshield, Jellyfish Shield, Visage Shield, Erdtree Shield, Antskull Plate, Fingerprint Shield, One-Eyed Shield, Icon Shield which all of them is a better option for blocking except Icon Shield or Jellyfish Shield.

                  This is my biggest problem. Icon Shield and Golden Beast Crest Shield is almost identical in stats with Icon shield blocking slightly worse but gets healing over time while GBCS (Golden Beast Crest Shield) doesn't. I would rather have Golden Beast Crest Shield be a better icon shield, but needing fp to activate the health regeneration than what state it is in now.

                  A reward befitting someone who just killed the first boss at the start of the game or exploring the world to find him again is not this. The swords are amazing, but this shield ladies and gentlemen is a not a masterpiece, it's a mastergarb also known as garbage.

                      Fantastic Celtic shield. Great for a Celtic Briton style character. Really though we need a wooden variant of this, as I think the Battersea Shield was a cover for decorative purposes. Still fantastic though

                        So the Brass Shield weighs 5.5 less than this, has 2 more points in Guard Boost when both are maxed, requires only 16 str, is a medium shield that lets you put any parry AoW on it and has roughly the same elemental defenses as this. There is no practical reason to use aside from fashion

                          The Golden Beast Crest Shield is a heavier, slightly more protective, and generally harder to get version of the Brass Shield!

                            If you're wanting this shield and not have the hassle of defeating it in the tutorial you can travel back to the tutorial level. At The Four Belfries grace there's a chest with a imbued sword key, turn around and head to the pillar that's immediately down the hill on the left, you can use the key on the waygate and head back to fight the crafted scion. Though a fair warning the key is used up, there's more of them in the game but this is the easiest to obtain so may wanna double check that the other waygates don't have anything you really want or that you can't wait for.
