Golden Crux

golden crux grab
Leap up and skewer foe from overhead. If successful, the weapon's barbs unfold to excruciate from within; else, additional input releases barbs in the area. There is something of the Golden Order in the sight of those fixed upon this crux.

Golden Crux is a Skill in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLCGolden Crux is an excruciatingly violent attack that skewers foes from overhead, and if it managed to land successfully, painful barbs unfold from within.

Elden Ring Golden Crux Guide, Notes & Tips

  • This is a Unique Skill
  • FP Cost: 21 (-10)
  • Deals 17+16 Stance damage
  • This Skill is not Chargeable
  • Performs a grab attack when used against NPCs and players, piercing from overhead and unfolding barbs from inside-out
    • Dagger Talisman boosts grab damage by 17%
    • Does not seem to work with any normal enemy
    • In online play, whether a grab hits or not is determined only by the player doing the grab, so rolling early is advised against low latency users of this skill.
  • Against normal enemies, the sword slams to the ground and allows for an additional input, causing piercing barbs to erupt around the user and knock enemies up in the air
    • Due to damage type (Pierce/Holy) it is affected by Spear Talisman.
  • Bug: Rarely, against NPC's there will be an additional hit before impailing (noted against Rakshasa, where difference in Golden Crux damage was about 50%). Issue can be observed in online games, but it is very hard to trigger.
  • Bug: When player character dies due to impaling, they will get up and then die - unlike NPC's it does not trigger different death animation.
  • Bug; Under specific circumstances, grab does not work and instead NPC will just be hit with piercing attack. It seems to be related to animation related to drinking Flask of Crimson Tears (confrimation needed).

Hated by the community, but you can run past it and backstep away or behind the user using it since the tracking is good but not 180 degree type ****, im gonna get hated by this, but you can boost its damage with holy boosting talismans such as sacred scorpion charm, with my testing i was able to do 5997 on the Greater Potante enemies in bonny village, the build had 60 str, 60 faith, alexander warrior jar(rip it wont boost the holy damage in pvp for some reason), sacred scorpion charm(8% in pvp), rahkshaks armor set except the head which i kept the cicrlet of light, dagger talisman, two handed sword talisman for overall more damage, for my physick i had faith knot and holy cracked tear, you could switch the faith knot tear by the bloodsucking tear for even more damage
Hope this helps the people using this skill and the people fighting this skill

      • i like to use this to punish players who fight unfairly in duels
use a healing incant? meet my golden crux which will make it seem like you never healed in the first place
spam unfair spells? have a taste of this unfair ash of war which'll kill you nearly instantly
use swift slash or blood hound's step? be ready to face this massive aoe that'll send you up in the air like a loony toons character.

Can we please nerf this? or at least vastly increase the amount of FP it uses? People who spam this **** is irritating.

At this point i just dc or kms when i see this weapon. If youre up against a gank, sure this is fair game, but if you got the audacity to use this **** 1v1 you are not worth playing against.

            • Anonymous

Wby doesn't it work in PvE? It was my turn to get back at those b*st*rd soldiers who ganked me so many times!

              • Anonymous

people talking about the grab being garbage in high latency but can we talk about how disgustingly low the recovery is if you miss and do the barbs sticking out the ground follow up? the barbs have a lingering hitbox but the cuck using the sword can just spam roll out of the way and repeat ad infinitum if you even dare go in for a roll attack punish, these hack devs should just hand the balancing for this game over to the ds2 b team at this point

I haven't been able to test this out yet, but I'd like to see if you could throw a frost pot could stun people out of this. If they have 381 robustness or higher it wouldn't work (frost pot does 380 frostbite), but if 380 or lower if I can hit them it'd be a nice counter. Maybe combine with fire coils from range to remove frost to keep the ability to stun them out of it. Of course if they hard swap talismans mid fight for more robustness to counter it you might just get impaled the next time you try to stun them out of it.

You know something is wrong when I can invade while drunk and still get people with this. In my defense I was drunk

Forget PVP, the REAL use for this is going to Bonny Village and making those greater potentate b*stards pay for cramming all them poor fools in jars!

                      • Anonymous

This weapon would be in a good spot if fromsoft netcode wasn't ass and there was more recovery frames after whiffing. Regardless of if you're someone who hates invaders or is one balance is good for both sides since an invader can also use broken stuff and a ganker can as well.

An ash of war designed to give your opponents madness in real life. When you land this they are mid roll behind you, they will see the truth of the middle finger: that they paid $40 to die to a wakeup claymore r2 & get crouched over with fetid pot spam.

                          • Anonymous

One shot kills are too simple with this. with the skill and crit boosting talismans, bloodsucking tear and rakshasa armor, this skill is consistently one shotting other players i fight at lvl 150. that’s not even considering every possible buff. Goofy. Whimsical, even.

                            • Anonymous

As long as you defend the lack of madness buildup in this weapon, this will grab you and get you mad anyway

                              • Anonymous

I don't even care about the ridiculous hitbox size or damage. The real problems with this are that it has zero recovery on the followup, meaning you can dodge both attacks and have zero opportunity to punish before they dodge or inevitably spam L2 again. Also, this constantly hits me in the i-frames during a roll.

                                • I don't enjoy playing with or against this. Enforces an extremely passive playstyle where you roll away early to not get caught by the long range grab which consequently ignores your i-frames because it is a grab, and it has so much Hyper Armor that you cannot trade into it even with the largest weapons and the hardest hitting Ashes of War, this will win any trade. And even if you successfully dodge this attack, the optional follow-up makes only a handful of weapons able to actually punish this weapon for whiffing without trading into the explosions of golden spikes. All in all, this is by far the most powerful command grab in the game, and it comes with all the benefits and consequences of that description. It's really strong, but it encourages your opponent to play in one of the least fun ways possible. At least it isn't so strong that you can spam it, at least it's predictable and thus it's not necessarily CHALLENGING to play around it, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it or like the intentions of the attack. Also, why does this have a grab box attached to the feet? The weapon obviously has a capsule around it when executing the move, but why is there a second capsule around the player's feet that will also grab someone? That part is just wack.

Got so disappointed when it didn't grab soldier-type enemies.

Damage is good but grab is only really there in PVP or against NPC bosses

                                    • Anonymous

Damage on the grab varies a LOT. Sometimes you'll get the initial damage + explosion and delete enemy health, or most of the time just the explosion damage. Very rarely even the explosion won't do damage and you waste 20 FP as well as your time

                                      • Anonymous

Everyones complaining about its questionable grab box in pvp but I’m over here wondering why the bosses spear weapon magically becomes a greatsword when I wield it.

“There is something of the Golden Order in the sight of those fixed upon this crux.“

                                          Anyone know what that means?

                                          • Anonymous

maybe they should have fixed the glitchy hitboxes of the already existing command grabs before adding new ones.

                                            • Anonymous

Extremely broken, grabs, long ifranes, unblockable, massive damage. If you use this, you have no skills and should be ashamed

                                              • This is kinda busted rn, but if you want to fight it, treat it like lions claw. About the same leap distance and speed, maybe a bit more damage. If you are careful to back up from lions claw you can put slightly more footwork in and dodge this, then they are wide open.

                                                • Anonymous

This skill is surprisingly decent against ganks. Most people who don't have it themselves don't expect it to have good hyper armor or a follow up. Since it's a grab, if you land it, it'll do massive damage to one person while keeping you safe with invincibility frames, forcing that player to back off and heal. If you miss the initial attack, you can hit everyone for solid damage with the AOE follow-up, which also launches them into the air. It has hella hyper armor, seemingly regardless of poise. Using Leda's set, witth only 44 poise, I've tanked a hit from a colossal weapon from this. Basically, small weapons can't interrupt, big ones get punished if they try to.

                                                  • Anonymous

First time I came across this, I thought it was a joke, guy kept spamming it. The range is short and I just moonlight waved them every time they landed in front of me. 2nd time I got hit by it rolling past it, didn't realize it was a one shot grab attack. Anyways, its not too scary if you stay a safe distance. But I can definitely see this as a threat

                                                    • Is this not working for anyone else? I have the stats, but the AoW is not sending out the spikes. Character does the jump and ground stab, but no spikes are coming out. I tried this with multiple enemies, and just on the ground. nada

                                                      • Anonymous

by "if successful" the description means "if your opponent stabbed the ground within 2 meters of you". With this kind of absurd damage, I feel like the hitboxes should be way more precise

                                                        • Anonymous

Love using this in PVP, absolutely devastating if you land it, though it is easily punished if missed. It\s a good wake up attack.

                                                          • If I actually did pvp it would be so bad ass to obliterate people with this skill, MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD. Imma do frenzy for my second playthrough of dlc (doing dex int first), and I am impaling someone with this thing
