sometimes the bird has glowing eyes and will drop 5x more runes, this is a random chance and can always happen
- Anonymous
This just happened to me at the bird farm using the Scarab. usually the bird drops 11k, with the scarab 13k. I don’t know how I’m doing it yet but on occasion the bird with drop about 66k. Anyone know what’s happening?
- Anonymous
i haver earned over a million runes at the bird farm since i activated the fowl foot... is this a bug or is it a feature to this item?
- Anonymous
im pretty sure this increases the time your golden pickled fowl foot is activated. i activated it like 7 min ago and its still going as of me writing this and i just started using the golden scarab

The gold scarab is no more: now the Cleanrot Knights drop the Kindred of rot's exultation (here: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Kindred+of+Rot's+Exultation)
And, according to what I read in other comments, I believe that the gold scarab has been deleted from the game.

Alright, show of hands, how many of you forget to take this off during a boss fight so it ends up being harder and feel dumb when you go to switch it on when it dies?

I'm no mathematician here, but last I checked, 20 + 30 = 50, not 56.
How effective is Waves of Gold at killing the knight on a +9 Sacred Relic sword?
- Anonymous
Effectively, this talisman probably increase my LEVEL by about 10%, and since I play around several stats (at least 20 in everything but endurance, 30+ in 4 stats) it's the most powerful thing I've come across at the moment. Without it, I'll have been 1-shot by just about every bosses thus far (with it, I'm barely surviving with sliver of HP).
- Anonymous
Too lazy to make an account, someone who does have it, this item stacks multiplicately with the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot granting not 50% extra runes but 56%.
- Anonymous
Does this apply to runes you consume from the inventory (like Golden Rune [1-13], Hero's, Numen, Lord's, etc.), or only runes dropped from enemies/bosses killed in the world?

- Anonymous
i wish they gave us other equipment with extra runes dropped effect from enemies just like the shield of want and mimic head from ds3
- Anonymous
Any items that boost rune acquisition like Shield of Want from DS3?
- Anonymous
Golden Scarabs does NOT stack with multiple of it's kind. No reason to get more than 1, if you're on NG+
- Anonymous
maybe not the most efficient, but noticed this while trying to farm festive hood
mohg spear +7, 31 str 25 dex 27 arc with just golden scarab equipped running up and down the hill from grace to grace at dominula windmill village was incredibly fast and nets me 8k runes per run

one of the best talisman in game, 20% additional soul mean u save 20% time on lvling. comine with golden chicken leg just before big boss death offer most return on runes. worth a perma talisman slot until additional lvl no longer have meaning(clvl 250+).

Master the art of equipping this quickly after big boss battles and eat a gold foul foot for maximum runes.

For anyone’s whose new to the series, when you kill a boss there is a bit of a delay for when you get the tuned, which gives you enough time to quickly equip this for free extra runes

Used the ash of war quickstep to get through the first part of that scarlet rot with ease
- Anonymous
You can get this really early (basically at the start of the game) .Getting through the cave without scarlet rot and poison is doable and it takes some time to get the optimal path . The cleanrot knights are easy to deal one at a time use the lone wolves summons ranni gives you they will keep one of the knights occupied and will survive for a while . Pump some vig and upgrade your weapon to make it even easier.
i noticed if you use shard of alexander and ritual sword talisman and then use a gold pickled fowl foot it increases its effectiveness. On journey 6 palace ledge farm kill with no talisman is:
5008 xp
with shard of alexander and RST: 6010 xp
with shard of alexander, RST and gold scarab: 7212 xp
with above talismans and gold pickled fowl foot : 9375 xp

Highly advise the incantation Flame, Cleanse Me for this dungeon.

I've done some testing on how it specifically stacks with the gold-pickled Fowl foot:
Killing one non hostile albinauric near the grace: Palace Approach Ledge Road with no rune boosting effects gave me 2453 Runes
This means that with the Gold Scarab, it should be 2943; this was indeed the case.
In the next run I added the gold pickled fowl foot, the result was 3826 runes per kill.
We know that 2453*1.5 = 2679.5 so this suggests the buffs stack multiplicatively, and the math for that checks out:
(2453*1.2)*1.3 = 3826.68, upon testing: killing one neutral albinauric with both buffs active gave me 3826 Runes.
Conclusion: Rune acquisition buffs stack multiplicatively, and Rune gain is rounded down to whole numbers

My golden scarab has disappeared from my inventory after the last update. Has this happened to any of you?

In case you are wondering, you cannot stack the talisman if you get another one in NG+.

I got this buff by interacting with the first merchant, I sold 1.8k in golden runes, then talked to him and then entered the purchase window and was contemplating what to spend my 3.8k total on, and as I'm waiting in the purchase window I got the buff. It maybe to do with talking to him after having purchased the crafting kit and other things and having left and then talking to him again? I'm not sure, but I'm sure someone can figure it out from that.. I have it recorded even lol...

Anyone know if there is more items that increase rune gain? I only know the talisman and the Gold Pickled-Fowl Foot.

For the people here that are willing to go through the pain of Abandonded Cave and fighting the Cleanrot Knights - there's a teardrop Scarab somewhere in Caelid that drops the Flame of Redmane Ash of War, which basically sends a wall of flame. Useful against the Knights, just pop it on a Broadsword, upgrade it, use spirits and yer good to go.

The item also takes a certain amount of time to take effect, so you can't just equip it at the end of a boss fight to get the extra souls.

Gold used to be for item drops and silver for souls, and now it's the other way around.
Somehow it took me a long time to realize this. I never looked at the item description until I realized like several hours later that I was farming for an armor set wearing a rune boosting talisman lol

Anyone know if there is more items that increase rune gain?, like armor or something?

The wiki is wrong. It’s not called “Golden Scarab” it’s actually named “Gold Scarab”

Any way to get this without going to the bullshit cave where there's no statue of marika at a gank boss you have to fight while rotting?

Can you equip multiple Gold Scarab talismans? And if you can, do they stack?

Anyone else annoyed they made gold increase runes and silver increase drop rate? I mean I guess it kinda makes sense, but it was also the other way around for the entirety of Dark Souls. I keep getting them mixed up now.

They should increase it to 30% or even 40%. The rune grind to level up in late game is no joke

fire slugs near lava in volcano manor drops me less souls with this equipped. 185 normally, 184 with scarab equipped. might be a bug, gonna test on some more mobs

20% rune gain. Tested on twin giants pulling a cart.
1000 Runes without, 1200 Runes with
Just in case anybody unaware. You dont have to wear this whole boss fight. Deliver killing blow to boss => ASAP open gear screen and equip this talisman => receive bonus runes. Works since DS 1.

Fire slugs in Volcano Manor drop reduced runes. 185 without talisman equipped, 184 with. Maybe a bug, because other enemies in the area drop increased runes.

Crazy he we went from ds3 with symbol of avarice + shield of want + cssr(+3 if you really want to spice things up) for 2-2.5x souls. Now they want us to be happy with 20%, or adding in a dogshit consumable for a mere 1.6x? Ridiculous.
