Builds with Golden Vow (Incantation)
AnonymousBlessing of the Erdtree + Golden Vow + Sacred Blade (for the weapon buff which can stack with the Holy damage of a Sacred infusion) all together costs 126 FP, which is actually exactly 21 Mind. Just thought that was interesting.

AnonymousIf you think an incantation makes the game easier than A SUMMON your IQ is not higher than 50 I'm sorry

Anonymousdoes the golden vow stack up with a buff from the commander's standard

AnonymousDS3 did the right thing by locking its counterparts of this spell and flame grant me strength behind a covenant / late stage of the game. Every elden ring run you see on YT includes rushing for golden vow (either AoW or spell) and FMGS or howl of shabriri at the start to make their build broken. Yes you can just not use them if you don't like them, but why would I make my build suboptimal on purpose? Is there really a gameplay variety if every build uses the same buffs? High faith requirement isn't even an issue in this game with all the stat boosting gear you can get easily, FS really fumbled with buff system in this game. At least they locked power within tear behind DLC but there is no reason to use it anyway

AnonymousWhy does Flame Grant Me Strength only last for thirty seconds but Golden Vow lasts for a whole eighty seconds for no reason whatsoever...

AnonymousNever read comments on this wiki. Save yourself a headache.

AnonymousPeople complain about summoning then use this. Golden Vow lowers the difficulty more than spirit ashes

AnonymousSmh. Using this incantation is cheating, it makes the game easier

Anonymousapparently golden vow and radagon soreseal have a hidden effect when used together, increasing rune gain

AnonymousThere is a difference between Golden Vow incantation and weapon art ?

Anonymous
AnonymousKinda useless in PVP since both the uplifting aromatic and this spell give 7.5% dmg in PVP, even though in PVE Golden Vow gives a lot more dmg. And the aromatic costs like 1/3 of the FP.

AnonymousGets summoned as cooper. Have "paladin" in the name. Uses Blessing of the Erdtree. Uses Golden Vow spell. Drinks Flask of W.P. Host uses Golden Vow AoW...

AnonymousThere is no greater insult to a fth build than using the aow version a few seconds after they use the spell. Yes, I am looking at you, ieatpant1. You knew what you were doing, didn't you, you cheeky little goblin. I hope you step on a lego when you least expect it

Anonymous
Anonymousone day co-op players will realise that golden vow is applied to everyone nearby, and that they shouldnt override the spell version with the weaker AoW/consumable

Anonymous
Anonymouswhy does this cost so much fp, it only gives you 10% negation and 15% damage boost, i could use wave of gold or destined death for less cost

AnonymousWas doing some testings and find something awkward I felt like I needed to share: for some reason, the turtle in Church of Vows receive less damage buff from both Golden Vow and Golden Vow AOW. I normally compare damages between different abilities on this mob (I know, I know... but immobile, does not react and very high HP), and all buffs/debuffs I tested seem fine, except both Golden Vows (I got the AOW just to test cause the spell was lower than expected). Golden Vow (Spell) provides ~9.25% damage increase instead of 15% and the ash of war ~10% instead of 11.5%. I first thought both were bugged for all enemies, but then I tested with other mobs and the damage increase values were normal (15% and 11.5% respectively), so this might be a hidden feature of a NPC in the church of VOWs be resistance to golden VOW buffs?

Anonymous
Anonymousi love when im co-oping and the 3 of us all cast this spell at the exact same time in front of the boss door

Anonymous
Anonymousi mean... yeah its a nice incantation, but its effectiveness in pvp seems very underwhelming considering the FP cost... could at least have the audacity to get boosted by Erdtree Seal or something, if only a little bit.... really, i just want a way to increase the duration of the damage boosting incantations.. oh well, at least it lasts a solid 1 minute 20 seconds which is nice as i cba casting flame grant me strength every 30 god damn seconds in a bossfight.

Anonymous'This incantation has been taught to knights of the royal capital for generations, and knights sent on distant expeditions lean on it as a source of courage.'
Just as we were the royal knights and a distant expedition was the Land of Shadow DLC. At least I like to think that way
AnonymousGet close to me, it's time for jolly co-operation
Also come back here you little ****, theres body and regen buff as well!
Anonymousso bad. I hope they nerf it so people stop thinking that it's good.

AnonymousUse Physick w/ Opaline Hardtear + Greenburst Tear for super saiyan 1
Stack w/ this spell for super saiyan 2
Stack again w/ Braggart's Roar for super saiyan 3
Finally stack w/ Flame Grant Me Strength for super saiyan GOD

AnonymousMm... I understand, I mean with 20 points of Faith and the (Two Fingers Heirloom) and the matter is settled! :)

AnonymousThis and flame grants me strength melts every boss in the game

Anonymous
AnonymousAt this point, every kind of pve build I make, I make sure to have enough faith to cast golden vow and black flame protection/ other elemental reduction spells, it’s crazy, I really feel like playing without this, is like playing on a challenge run, they’re just THAT good.

AnonymousI hate this spell, not because it isn't good, but because I don't want to be bothered to cast it all the time. So I just don't use it, and I suffer for it.

AnonymousCan anyone confirm if this actually stacks with boiled crab in 1.10? I know this is an 'aura' while crab is a 'body buff', but when testing it seems like golden vow overwrites boiled crab (but not vice versa).

AnonymousBugged atm, decreases magic damage for some reason, or at least Loretta’s bow spell

Anonymouslasts way too long for how quick it's casted and for how strong the buff is even when "nerfed" in pvp

Anonymousdoes it increase dmg of ashes of war too? like moonlight greatsword magic projectile?

AnonymousCosts way too much FP for how mid the buffs are. 30~ish FP would be more reasonable.

AnonymousThey fixed spells not working, just after I finished my Incant build /:

Anonymous
AnonymousIt was fixed! look at patch 1.09.1 patch notes! They fixed spellcasting!

AnonymousI return to the game after a few months, and apparently i sold it
How can i get Golden Vow again?
AnonymousIt's been too long now. This is definitely not a bug. Just a nerf.

AnonymousAnd just as i was working on my hybrid build
thank you miyazaki
AnonymousAs of patch 1.09, does this still affect weapon skills? Such as Ancient Lightning Spear with Bolt of Gransax?

AnonymousI always thought this only buffs physical damage but reduced all incoming damage, is this the case or does it buff all elemental damage you do too?

Anonymous
AnonymousThe bug has certainly made incantation runs a lot more challenging in pve. Hope it’s fixed soon. Not as worried about my pvp characters because I’d only buff time permitted anyway. Mid game range is feeling the pain though. Looks like I’m doing some melee/infusion runs for now.

Is it a bug or a nerf that it doesn't buff sorceries anymore?

Anonymous
AnonymousAhh elden ring.... After farming everything for 30+ hours to get the buffs for a Dragon cult build you give me this bug. This is a "But hole required" moment for me.

AnonymousAs of patch 1.09 golden vow and flame grant me strength is not working for incantations.

AnonymousAs of patch 1.09 there is a new bug with golden vow, howl of shabriri and flame grant me strenght that makes it so the damage boost isn't applied to neither sorceries nor incantations even though the spell buff icon is still visible under the stamina bar. I'm writing this in hope that it will be hotfixed soon.

AnonymousIt seems that with patch 1.09 buffs like Golden Vow no longer effect spell damage of incantations. I've tested Black Flame and Flame Sling with multiple damage increasing buffs such as: Golden Vow (Ash/Spell), Sacred Order, Shared Order and Last Rites. There was no change in damage.

AnonymousI don't think this stacks with Flame, Grant Me Strength anymore. Game version 1.08
335 damage on Black Flame with Golden Vow
390 Damage with Flame, Grant me Strength
Still 390 with Golden Vow and then Flame, Grant me Strength
Anonymous
AnonymousConsidering how defense is calculated, I don’t see a reason for this to have a pvp nerf to defense when it costs so much fp. And I don’t see why it should have a damage nerf either when it’s a free jump attack and a longer cast than erdtree heal, black flame protection etc + It doesn’t even boost spell damage at 25fth. I find it unusable in pvp simply because so many people jump attack and block the cast when starting a duel. Meanwhile, regen is technically unpunishable with rit shield and applies too fast to be blocked.

AnonymousDoes this stack with Exalted Flesh, Golden Great Arrow, Uplifting Aromatic?

Anonymous
AnonymousKinda wish we had the armor depicted in the art for this incantation.

AnonymousWorth it. There’s diminishing returns to armor bonus BUT you’re still taking 5% less damage than without it no matter what, the way the math works. So don’t fall for the trap of thinking it’s worthless.

Anonymous15 faith + the physick buff that gives 10 faith = you can use golden vow spell. 15 faith is very good investment for pretty much any build.

AnonymousWeirdly enough, this overwrites Protection of the Erdtree despite them being different “buff classes.” Not only that, but it cannot be overwritten back by PotE once it is active.

AnonymousThe article says it stacks with food buffs such as boiled crab but from my experience this isn't true.

Anonymousthe extra defense is very good at high level where everything hits like a flaming semi truck

AnonymousTry Golden Vow + Vyke's Dragonbolt + Dragonbolt Blessing. Works like a charm.

AnonymousPlaying support in Limgrave is a lot of fun. Use ash of war golden vow for quick buffs mid combat, and it buffs spell damage unlike the spell version. Use the spell version of golden vow for boss fights or to buff mini bosses while invading. Shared order ( not to be confused with sacred order) for fighting undead and it adds holy perma death to entire groups weapons even if you change weapons. And sacred blade for pvp or for stacking holy damage for undead. Healing is kinda useless since they cost a lot of fp and the range is simply too short but it’s an option... hopefully they bring back fillianores chime to make healing remotely viable again. Soon I’ll have BoG and Lord’s Prayer to block bleed in mobs if I invade or to block magic spam. Wish me luck on finishing my healing twink.

AnonymousHow come this buff says 15% and fire grant me strength says it raises it 20% but this one makes the damage go up more?

AnonymousSolid contender for the best buff spell in the entire series.

AnonymousI think I found a type-o in this Wiki article. The stats/requirements panel on the top right of the page says 47 FP and the text of the Wiki under Spell Guide says 50 FP and doesn't list a Stamina cost like it typically would.
Is this incantation 50 FP / 47 Stam?
PS: Apologies for not fixing it myself but I'm away from my PlayStation and cannot verify at the moment.
AnonymousAh yes, a major ingredient of the scum cocktail.
Golden vow, fire protect me, boiled prawn, and Wonderous physick with tears of denial.
AnonymousGreat spell but easily obtained earlier and slapped onto a light weapon as the ash of war. Also the spell version takes a lot longer to cast than the ash.

AnonymousWorks on enemies while you're an invader. It feels good to give the mobs a fighting shot against 3 mans

AnonymousOld lords does not extend the Ash of War version incase anybody wondering

Anonymous
Anonymous
AnonymousDoes this work with spells? And, if so, does it work for all elements?

AnonymousIf I cast this with Old Lord's Talisman for the longer duration and then switch it off for a different talisman after the cast, does it still keep the longer duration. I know in DS1 it would revert to the shorter duration for something like Power Within with Lingering Dragoncrest Ring, but I want to know if maybe they changed how it operates to make it a viable strat.

AnonymousEkzyke's Decay is listed twice on this page in the incantations table right now, lol

AnonymousIs there any evidence this spell does damage when cast? I used it underneath the fire giant and somehow he lost a huge chunk of health in his second phase.

AnonymousThis can be cast with less than 40, seems to give the full buff power, maybe at reduced duration, too lazy to check that part.

Anonymous
AnonymousDO NOT use this when someone's using Lord's Divine Fortification fighting last boss! It gets overridden by this and you don't get 60% negation!

AnonymousIs there not a buff symbol for this incantation? with Flame Give Me Strength you can clearly tell when the buff starts and ends but Golden Vow doesn't seem to have a buff marker, someone correct me if I'm wrong

AnonymousDoes this work with Howl of Shabriri or do the damage buffs overwrite each other?

AnonymousHow close do you have to be to your allies? It seems like you almost need to be on top of each other, in my experience.

Does anyone knows if Flock's Canvas Talisman makes this incantation or Flame Give me Strength stronger?

AnonymousThe Rallying Standard Unique Skill does NOT stack with Golden Vow. Rallying Standard replaces the Vow Incantation and vice-versa, thus they do not stack as I have checked the Status page each time.
Flame, Grant Me Strength stacks with both Rallying Standard Unique Skill and the Golden Vow Incantation when either of the skill/incantation is used.
Golden Vow + Vykes Dragonbolt + Jellyfish shield = pretty decent dmg.

Anonymousmakes int/faith nicer to play because you can stack this and terra magica to make up for missing damage

AnonymousThis spell strengthen the sorceries as well. Best add up for full int mages.

AnonymousI'd say One of the Best Spells in the Game... This and early on its Ashe of War variant aswell. ( Altho the Spell variant has Double the Duration of Golden Vow's Ashe of War variant... Being from 45sec used as Ashe of War , and this Spell has the 90sec buff which is very helpful indeed along the way ). I'm literally Level 252 now with my character , even tho i'm a Capped INT build at 80 INT with just 32 Faith still. I use this with Blessing Boon while my other 8 Slots are equipped with Magic Spells.... Definitely a Fundamental Spell Golden Vow is indeed. It helped me alot along the way untill End-Game. ( Note : Golden Vow buffs you up with 90secs giving 15% Damage Increase towards everything like Melee damage , Magic Spells damage and also Bow damage... While the 10% Dmg Reduction is really great when you have the Dragoncrest Shield you pretty much become a Tank even as my Hybrid Build Mage with Decent Armor & Poise ). Ohh and Golden Vow also helps out with the Radagon's Soreseal reduced defense or Marikas Soreseal... Eitherway definitely a Fundamental Spell to have either by Spell via Seal , or by having it as Ashe of War.

I confess I am a glutton for reading through the comments almost like a personal vice, but I honestly more often than not wish I just hadn't. It's actually really sad how much time and effort fextralife puts into creating these entries just to get **** on and have users spam the comments with trash. Honestly such a huge loss of potential, if more players constructively contributed information, these entries would be on point. I can empathetically understand why most entries are left "as is". But alas, I endearingly appreciate all the "helpers", most who give anony.
