The ash of war version of Golden Vow is entirely worse than the spell version so if you have a coop partner use the spell, please do not overwrite it with the ash of war. It has a shorter duration and smaller damage/armor bonus.

I'm not sure I understand the logic behind the 40fp cost of this. It's true that as a skill it can be used with as little as half the fp if you don't have the full 40 left, but the spell only costs 7 more fp, lasts almost twice as long at 80 seconds, grants a 50% higher damage bonus and 33% more damage negation, with the only caveat being the need for its full cost. I think asking for 30fp here as the max cost and requiring a minimum of 15fp would be more appropriate. But they're never seen a reason to adjust it so I guess From has their reasons.

As of 1.09.1, the AoW version of Golden vow will cause frenzied flame incantations to deal zero damage. Other incantations seem uneffected. The spell version of golden vow doesn’t have this issue however

Anyone noticed it lets you cast this with only 20fp left, i was surprised it said i could still cast as i was clearly under the fp cost

                While this skill is outclassed by the Incantation version, in some ways I'd argue that this is better;
                1. This doesn't have any stat requirements when using the AoW, so you can use it on any weapon capable of using Ashes of War, so this completely ignores the 25 Faith requirement of GV. Making it usable on melee or Sorcerer builds.
                2. It isn't weapon locked like Oath of Sunlight was in DS3, meaning that you can equip it on a dagger for a buff tool that doesn't weigh much.
                3. It doesn't use a spell slot, meaning that you don't have to make such a big commitment to use it and can use that spell slot for healing, weapon buff or another offensive spell.

It might not be as strong as the Incantation version, however it offers up different benefits at the cost of potency and duration instead.

haven't tested it but looking in the game's files it says that damage is increased by 7.5% pve and 2.5% pvp. with absorption being increased by 7.5% pve and 1.5% pvp.

When I use this while wielding Malenias sword, it’s nerfs water fowls damage down to 3 damaged per hit, any idea why?

good to put this one on a light weight weapon, like dagger, as buffing tool. The dmg buff is noticeable and the damge negation can save you from being oneshot sometimes

does the effect gets nerfed during pvp like the incantation version, if yes, what's the value during pvp?

I have 75 fp but can cast this twice with the Golde Halberd, even if I have 35 fp left after the first. Checking the numbers and counting the time to 45 seconds on both casts there seem to be no penalty for casting this with 35 fp left.

I know this is dumb but in case anyone is curious, i just tested and, no golden vow spell does not stack with golden vow ash of war :(

This page needs updating to say that it affect sorceries and incantations as well, which isn't immediately obvious from its description.

                              • I would like to point out that this page gets very much confused with Golden+Vow+(Spell). I have fixed it on the builds page, but I will not go through the work of moving over these BUILDS WITH GOLDEN VOW over to the actual Golden+Vow+(Spell) page. I also advise a link on this page to Golden+Vow+(Spell) itself, for anyone trying to figure out how to find the spell, not the Skill.

It also adds weight, I use this spell when im around right under heavy as medium, and when i use this spell, i started fat rolling.

Adds 7.5 to all negations before diminishing returns (test buffs while naked to get raw values, as another user pointed out below).

Damage buff to AR came out to 12.3%, so I believe its probably 12.5% (game cant show decimals)

Can confirm that the spell version last for 80 seconds, and increases AR in 15~% (At least with 211 incant scaling).
Pretty much elden ring's sacred oath.

You can find the spell in the Corpse Stench Shack, just before the broken bridge in Mt Melgir on Altus plateau (West of shaded castle).

This Ash of War drops from a mounted knight up on the cliff northeast of the warmaster’s shack, overlooking the mob base. He’s between the ruined structure and the cliff drop off.

You can find a guy on horseback to the east of the place you get the pvp finger that will give you this skill.

That’s a really high FP cost. Can anyone confirm how long the buff lasts, since I also don’t want to pressure myself to attack recklessly without waiting for an opening.

When I equip this to my broadsword there are two options. Does it matter which one I choose? The Sacred one seems to drop my damage off significantly

I wonder if all these buffs stack. Golden Vow + Erdtree Blessing + Scholar's Shield + Blessing's Boon? Maybe add in Order's Blade for some damage as well. Seems like a lot of great buffs.
